I've known Amanda Webb of Spider Working for years. While she started as a digital marketing generalist, Amanda has really built her name for data and analytics in recent years, especially Google Analytics (for which she is a certified trainer with Enterprise Nation). But, like many of us, Amanda didn't start out in marketing, and she shares how her time in the film industry and a small business owner helped her build the tenacity and skills that eventually helped her launch her own successful consulting and speaking business, becoming globally known as an expert on how to make sense of analytics and succeed with data-driven marketing strategies.Of course, we also discuss what lights Amanda up, what she truly delivers beyond just marketing insights, and what cats have to do with any of it (spoiler alert: not much, and she likes it that way!).In this episode:“That's me: I am going to be the next Mike Lee!”Hustling to get those union tickets signed (including in the pubs)The importance of persistence“Let's face it…I'm never going to be the female Mike Lee.”“I know! How to connect with your ideal audience on LinkedIn, with Amy Grubbs Who are you connected with on LinkedIn? Is your network made of people who you feel you can build relationships with and who understand you and your business? Are you specific enough about who you connect and work with? This week on the podcast, I interview Ottawa-based Amy Grubb. Amy is a commercial lawyer who primarily helps other lawyers build the boutique practice of their dreams through coaching, consulting, masterminding, and community work. After leaving the corporate world, Amy started an online business that slowly opened her eyes to a different way of networking and connecting with prospective clients. When she started her own practice as a commercial lawyer, Amy tailored her services to entrepreneurs in the creative space. But over time, she transitioned towards working with other lawyers, and specifically with solo and small firm lawyers, offering freelance help but also advice and support on how to market themselves and bring more clients into their business. In this episode, Amy talks about her experience of focusing in on a specific target audience in her business and on LinkedIn. She shares how she’s been using the platform to connect with her ideal audience, and specifically with people she can engage and build connections with. If you’re using LinkedIn for business and feel your network does not reflect the type of people you’d love to connect and work with, tune in to find out what worked for Amy and her business. You will learn… About the benefits of focusing in and making your offer crystal clear so you can attract more of your ideal clients – niching down makes it easier to market yourself and bring more leads and sales into your business! 1. What the ideal frequency for posting on LinkedIn is if your aim is to do business with employers and corporates. 2. Why it’s important to be intentional in the type of network you create on LinkedIn (and any other social media platform) – you are in control of your network and your social media experience. About Amy If you’d like to connect with Amy, you can find her on LinkedIn or on her website. You can also find her in her Facebook group: Solo/Small Firm Lady Lawyers. On this week’s podcast, I interview Amanda Webb of Spider Working. We discuss the ‘Content gremlin’ – the little gremlin that sits on your shoulder and tells you to start creating content and sharing it all over the internet. Amanda works with people who’ve got all those bits and pieces up and running, and I help them put that together into like a sales driven strategy. They know that everything that they’re doing online is driving towards that end goal. It can be hard to do when you’re in it yourself because there’s so much going on. So a lot of the time, Amanda is telling people to quit doing things rather than telling them to do new things. We streamline their processes, they make sales, and they never, they get rid of the content gremlin, and they never have the worry that they’re wasting time again. Amanda Webb, Spiderworking We talk about Amanda’s early career in the IRish Film industry and how that worked out (plus a common connection with an Irish movie!) Learn how to do video just with your mobile phone in this interview with Social Media Expert Amanda Webb. My guest on this episode is Amanda Webb, who's somebody I've met at multiple conferences. The purpose of today's episode is to talk about mobile video. I did Amanda's Go Do Video course in London and, to be honest, I was extremely impressed by what you can actually do with videos on a mobile phone, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to get Amanda on the show, to talk about the same topic. I mean we all think that you need expensive cameras and things to do video but in today's world, with only maybe a small amount of extra equipment, you can actually do very, very good videos on mobile phones, and certainly I think most self-publishers, as they're fairly cost-conscious, would be quite keen to use something they've already got to create decent videos.
