In this episode, I'm talking with Tony Stokes about all things related to martial arts. Since being initially inspired as a kid by Bruce Lee, Tony has dedicated his life to training in martial arts. Over the last 4 decades, he has found out through trial and error what works and what doesn't when it comes to self defence and fighting.
In this episode, I am chatting with Tony Stokes about all things Thailand. Tony spent 10 years living and working there and as you will soon realise, his love and respect for Thai culture runs deep. In this age of technology, it is all too easy to believe you can access all you need to know about a country via a simple Google search. Tony first went to Thailand before the age of the Internet. You will therefore discover from listening to his stories that when it comes to finding adventure and truly knowing a country, there is a lot to be said about taking the road less travelled. www.tribeshift.com
“What a steal! Criminal's £1m treasure trove of Back to the Future, Star Wars and ET film memorabilia sells for just £340,000 after it was seized when he turned a Cold War nuclear bunker into a drug factory” “Three men jailed for running cannabis factory in ex-nuclear bunker Anti-trafficking organisations express disappointment after slavery charges against trio were dropped.” These are just 2 of the many newspaper headlines that have been linked to Martin Fillery and his backstory over the years. If you have read about Martin in the tabloid newspapers and only know him based on these sensational headlines, therefore, you might know him better as an evil drug lord, human trafficker extraordinaire and overall bad person. While that version of his story made for attention-grabbing news articles that help sell newspapers, this in anything but the truth. The hilarious fact of the matter is that the actual truth is infinitely stranger than reality and a LOT more fun too. Unfortunately, Martin was in prison for the past 4 years and wasn't able to tell his side of the story…….until now! In this interview, Martin tells his crazy story to Tribe Shift founder, Paul Hurley, and is also joined by his childhood friend, Tony Stokes, someone who knew Martin way before he turned into an evil drug lord criminal mastermind we know and love today! Enjoy!

My guest today is Mike Abrashoff. Mike is at the centre of one of the most remarkable modern day stories of organizational transformation. At 36, he was selected to be Commander of USS Benfold and was the most junior commanding officer in the Pacific fleet. The challenges of this underachieving destroyer were staggering, with low morale and the highest turnover rate in the Navy. Few thought the ship could improve. Yet 12 months later it was ranked #1 in performance -- using the same crew. How did Mike do it? By replacing command and control leadership with commitment and cohesion. The lesson was clear: Leadership matters and culture is everything. Since leaving the Navy, Mike has worked with over 1200 organizations instilling leadership initiatives at every level – achieving phenomenal change in unexpected places. Leaders especially identify with Mike being accountable for results in an environment where he couldn’t make the rules. He focused on the one thing he could influence: his crew’s attitude, because culture is the ultimate competitive weapon for any organization. As a keynote speaker, Mike has spoken to every industry and kind of audience – from board retreats to front line personnel, from sales groups to universities, from Fortune 500s to startups. In this interview, I talk to Sorcha Kavanagh from the Conscious Cup Campaign. The Conscious Cup Campaign, was started in late 2016 by a group of concerned individuals who, inspired by similar initiatives of cafes and citizens around the world, are aiming to reduce and eventually eliminate single use cups in Ireland. They met through the Zero Waste Ireland Facebook Group, and now have the support of VOICE, an environmental charity with expertise in waste prevention initiatives and the Eastern Midlands Regional Waste Management Office. The central focus points of this campaign will be to encourage individuals to switch to reusable cup and to persuade coffee shops to; one, accept the reusable cups and two offer a reward to those customers, be it a monetary discount or extra loyalty points / stamps. Their campaign does not seek to encourage compostable cups as while compostable cups may be preferable to ordinary non-recyclable paper cups, composting is a very specific process which does not occur in landfill, where most of them end up as few cafes have compost bins. https://consciouscup.ie

Rob's purpose in life is to share with others what he has learned about human potential (body & mind). Rob has studied the subject rigorously and has tried and tested many different techniques & methodologies. This ranges from multiple ten day vipasanna silent retreats, to courses on: NLP, nutrition, breath work, productivity, habits, lifestyle design, cold training such as the Wim Hof Method, online entrepreneurship and more… In 2013, Rob decided to start a new adventure as an online entrepreneur. Within just a year, he had succeeded in creating a 4-hour workweek for himself. This has enabled him to dedicate all that freed up time on his passions and purpose in life. Today he coaches others who aspire to do the same themselves. www.walkthetalk.life https://www.zenerife.com
