Simon started his chiropractic studies in Melbourne. He practised for two years on the Gold Coast in Australia before taking up a teaching post at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, England. As Simon's practice developed, he became fascinated by the fact that certain patients responded to treatment while others did not, and the difference could not be explained by current medical knowledge, so he studied and became proficient in Applied Kinesiology, a system of diagnosis based on manual muscle testing and became a diplomate of the International College of Applied Kinesiology in 1996. The theory that became Afferentology grew out of his desire to understand the facilitation and inhibition that are fundamental to Applied Kinesiology. With the Afferent Input system, practitioners can examine the individual patient and reverse-engineer what has gone wrong with their ability to heal themselves. The methods Afferentologists use restore neuromuscular reflexes to normal by removing bad sensory inputs. They are safe, reliable and effective in the long term. This conversation covers various topics related to healthcare, diagnosis, and the importance of muscle strength and proprioception. Simon highlights the role of reflexes in maintaining strength and preventing injury. The conversation touches on the impact of piercings on muscle tone and the importance of removing bad inputs to support overall health. In this part of the conversation, the principal theme revolves around the impact of metal on the body, specifically in the context of injuries and dental work. Simon also shares his theory on the origin of COVID-19 and the potential role of the Flucilvax vaccine. The conversation then shifts to the challenges of being a chiropractor and the limitations of regulatory bodies. I hope you enjoy the episode. ABOUT DR.CHEUNG:I graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 1990. I am happily married and have four children and a dog.Over the last 31 years in practise, I was involved in professional football, Formula 1, World Games gymnastics, ballet, water sports at London 2012. My work continued when I moved to Dubai where the triathlon scene here is massive, along with equestrian sports like polo and endurance racing. Also pro-golfers (local and visiting) are using chiropractic to enhance their abilities...the work does not stop. I am also nurturing a young driver who one day, hopes to be in F1. I am currently the President of the National Chiropractic Sports Council UAE, Board Member of the Emirates Chiropractic Association and a member of FICS. Though sports events have been postponed globally since the pandemic started March 2020, hopefully essential services can make their way back to these events. Lined up for later this year will be Ju Jitsu World Championships in Abu Dhabi, Race of Champions in Scandinavia, and more triathlons and equestrian events later this year! I hope to bring chiropractic (again) to support the competitors from different regions. I enjoy the challenges that patients present me. I get even greater enjoyment when they tell me how much better they feel, though with sports people, how much better they perform after they have treatment. I like the fact that through sports, I can validate chiropractic as a wonderful, natural health care discipline that can make a difference.ABOUT WORLD OF CHIROPRACTIC: World of Chiropractic is a web series and podcast interviewing chiropractic leaders around the globe. Womenlines takes pleasure to welcome a Chiropractor Doctor known for her exceptional work of spreading wellbeing in the motherhood transition of pregnant women, Dr Eline Pedersen from the Greater Aberdeen Area. Listen to her passionate journey as a chiropractor doctor in the video above! Exceptional Chiropractor Doctor Eline Pedersen Recognised as an award-winning international speaker and exceptional chiropractor, Eline is passionate about helping patients achieve optimal health and wellness. She graduated in 2004 from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic. Eline ensures that patients are at the centre of their healthcare —respected, informed and offered the best available evidence-based practice from their chosen health team. I fundamentally believe in nature’s way of adapting to every aspect of life. As a wellness family chiropractor, she studies what she has named the individual’s “HQ” or ‘Health Quotient”. The “Health Quotient” is a measure of an individual’s adaptive state of health, based on their physical, emotional and chemical wellbeing, within the individual’s epigenetic and environmental context. This fits perfectly with the philosophy of chiropractic – that healing is an innate action, which happens from within. Having this in mind, and studying the work of Dr Michel Odent, where he concludes that the most critical time in life affecting our physical and mental health, is the moment of birth, I passionately devoted my work and personal life, to make a human being’s birth time the beginning of a well-lived healthy lifetime, close to the way nature intended it to be. I believe we have the responsibility to protect the first breath of each newborn child, to grow into a fearless, smart, healthy adult.
There is a growing group of chiropractors and other practitioners who are stepping outside the narrative of their prescriptive role and embracing a more holistic approach. This seems to be the result of realising the need to assist the patient in different areas, where needed, in order to help them over the tipping point towards healing. This is often needed when patients experience chronic issues which do not resolve with a single pronged approach. Multi-pronged approaches, for this reason, are often a life saver for patients who have not been successfully helped in the past. Today we interview Simon Billings who graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 2001 and is today a Doctor of Chiropractic at St.James Chiropractic Clinic in South Hampton, England. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the subjects of jaw joint disorders, nutrition and trigenics. He has also published articles on the subjects of migraine, vitamin D deficiency, mis-shapen head syndrome (plagiocephaly) and ankylosing spondylitis. Simon also teaches at the Academy of Chiropractic Nutrition. An organisation which he created with the goal to help chiropractors be more efficient with treating their patients through nutrition and supplementation. He speaks of the metabolic side of health as being overlooked by many chiropractors. In this episode we discuss the need for proper nutrition and supplementation where needed alongside physical therapies as a way to help patients, otherwise often not helped, towards recovery of their complaints. Quite often the ability of the body to heal is overlooked when only applying physical, hands-on therapies and so in the words of Simon Billings “you are flogging a dead horse”. If the body is not ready to heal, for whatever reason, it will not heal. Stimulating the body from a point where you enable the healing ability by correcting for deficiencies or toxicities becomes the goal and so we set the body up towards getting better. Some of the things you’ll discover... That all the pillars of health needs to be addressed The metabolic side of health is probably the most overlooked & poorly treated The necessity of vitamin D and how to best get it on sunny days Why a multi-pronged approach works better than a single therapy How nutrition and supplements may be the missing link your recovery process That there is hope for long term chronic issues when fixing underlying problems The importance of having a good working diagnosis based on sound findings Highlights Increasingly we’re seeing the important role that nutrition plays in the management of chronic diseases but it also extends to musculoskeletal care. If you’re suffering from chronic, persistent pain, and you’re not seeing the improvements you would expect, or desire, then you need to seek additional advice to support your recovery. Healthcare practitioners must realise their own limitations and expand their network to maximise the support they can offer their patients. Growing up in the large coastal resort town of Bournemouth, on the South Coast of England, Dr. Sabrina Caliendo’s road to Nurture Wellbeing Chiropractic PC has been a long, exciting, and very rewarding one. After graduating from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in England in 2000, she went on to practice at The Center For Positive Health in Telford, U.K., where she was a top associate. After two years there, Caliendo moved to Shirley, Southampton, where she joined the team at St. James Chiropractic. In 2004, Dr. Caliendo returned to Bournemouth. It was a homecoming of sort, in the best possible way. She returned to the town she grew up in, with an opportunity to help the people in her community that she held near and dear to her heart. Wave of Life Wellness Center was born and Dr. Caliendo owned and operated the Practice for the next three years. It grew from a generic “Chiropractic Practice” to an energized hub for growth, healing and education.Wave of Life Wellness was Dr. Caliendo’s first Network Spinal Practice. She began practicing Network Spinal earlier in 2004, and made a decision to always work with people to express their full potential, and not just chase pain.Network Spinal Chiropractic uses gentle touches along the spine to cue the brain to make changes throughout the body, dissipating tension and allowing the person to access parts of the Central Nervous System to regulate the body in the most efficient way. This eventually becomes an automatic response and the body learns to self-regulate in profound ways. This work is gentle but extremely powerful. It creates massive shifts both physically and emotionally, and teaches the body to regulate itself from the inside out. This is a very unique approach, as the body actually learns to “self-correct”, and the Nervous System becomes even more evolved. For Dr. Caliendo, it was so fulfilling to be able to give back to her family, friends, and the wonderful coastal resort town that helped shape her. Wave of Life Wellness Center is where she discovered more of herself – her entrepreneurial spirit and her ability to inspire others to want to achieve more life expression. Her love and passion grew exponentially, and she realized that her profession was in fact, her calling and Souls’ Purpose. She chose to live her life in service to others.Dr. Sabrina Caliendo met her husband, a fellow chiropractor, Dr. Anthony Caliendo, at a seminar in Italy in 2005. Sabrina moved to New York to join Anthony, and they were married in 2007. A year later, the couple founded Practice Wellbeing together in Lindenhurst, New York, which is still in existence today. After giving birth to her daughters, Anjali, in 2010, and Gioia, in 2012, Dr. Caliendo scaled back to working part-time, in order to raise her family and be closer to their home in St. James. It was during this time, a desire grew to create a community of health-minded people and have her children surrounded by such families in their everyday lives. And in 2015, Nurture Wellbeing Chiropractic PC was born. Located in Stony Brook, New York, Nurture Wellbeing has become an epicenter for people who want to live their best lives and reach their ultimate potential. It is a center for natural healing through the modality of gentle Chiropractic, and serves the community through education and service. Dr. Sabrina is dedicated to educating her Practice Members, and hosts an array of informative monthly workshops in her “Nurture U Series.” Nurture Wellbeing Chiropractic makes donations to many different charities and supports local groups, because Dr. Caliendo strongly believes in raising everyone up locally. Her mission for Nurture Wellbeing has always been to transform lives through education, inspire passion, strength, knowledge and leadership in the community — Empowering all to embrace a life of Vitality and full expression of health and transformation naturally. She is licensed and experienced in many forms of Chiropractic, including Cranial Work, Nutrition, Chirodontics, Pediatrics, Emotional Release Work, and Women’s Health. She is at Mastery Level in Network Spinal, a member of the New York Chiropractic Council, a member of the European Chiropractic Union, and a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatrics Association. She is a published writer and acts as a mentor to many chiropractors in the field.Dr. Sabrina Caliendo received the “Woman of Honor” Award in the category of “Sciences and Contribution to the Community” at the prestigious Gaia’s Essence Women’s Health Conference in 2018. She will be a Featured Speaker at the conference in September, 2019.“When we transform one life at a time, we are creating a ripple effect to transform many.
