We are delighted to be joined by the multi-talented Annette Badland, who first appeared on the Doctor Who radar in 2005 as Margaret Blaine in season one of the revived series of Doctor Who. She was the first person to be asked back to play a recurring villain and appeared again in Boom Town with Christopher Eccleston, Billie Piper and John Barrowman. Since then she has appeared in numerous roles for Big Finish productions including the character of Margaret in an audio version of Torchwood. It’s with the biggest grin on my face that I get to introduce to you, the absolutely fabulous…Annette Badland! Nettie really needs no introduction from me, as she has spent her years winning our hearts on the stage and screen. During the episode we whizzed through some of her theatre highlights, starting from when she was small and entertaining her classmates with her bus stop antics, all the way through to the joy of playing a fairy queen! We chatted about her expert veg chopping skills; getting her fix of her other love, Picasso, whilst in lockdown; and stopping theatre-goers in their tracks with her décolletage in a theatre foyer. Nettie shared with me her beautifully written love letter, which brought up some unexpected emotions for her. I think it’s going to be so relatable for many people who work in theatre, being separated from the place we call home. It was utterly glorious to spend time talking and laughing with her, I really hope you enjoy it too.

Gallifrey One! Mere weeks from now the noble RFS crew will take the stage in Los Angeles to deliver Radio Free Skaro: Behind the Magic, and here in this very podcast we announce our lineup! Who are they? Listen and find out! You’ll also hear a drabble of news, but more importantly, we also have a fun interview panel from Chicago TARDIS with Annette Badland, Noel Clarke, and Camille Coduri! Can you stand the excitement? Are we capable of asking things in a non-hyperbolic manner? The answer to both questions is surely no! Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
As the countdown to Gallifrey One ramps up, so too do new guest announcements, including Torchwood alumni Naoko Mori (Tosh) and McCoy era script editor Andrew Cartmel! In other news, riots and other carnage were avoided after Netflix renewed their rights to Doctor Who and a host of other BBC properties which were due to expire at the beginning of February. After the civil unrest and damage caused by the recent Oscar snub of the LEGO movie, we should all be relieved that everything worked out. But lo, there are also interviews from Chicago TARDIS in this episode of Radio Free Skaro, and they are thus: Mat Irvine, Doctor Who special effects whiz from the 1970s and 1980s, and a panel featuring Annette Badland of Aliens of London and Boom Town fame, Sonita Henry from The Time of the Doctor and Ellie and Joseph Darcey-Alden, the young wards of Victorian Clara Oswald in the Snowmen!
