In this special discussion, Dr.s Kay & Ray share their highlights from The Real Housewives of New York, season 15, reunion episodes,  after discussing the big breakup in Bachelor Nation of Rachel Kirkconnell and Matt James. Matt, the first Black bachelor, and Rachel, his final rose winner (whom he did not propose to, but instead started dating), have broken up after 4 years together. At the end of their season, photographs emerged of Rachel dressed in costume for a southern plantation-themed party, a type of party that glorifies and embraces a time in history marked by white enslavement of black individuals.  The RHONY Reunion raised numerous painful topics, including those facing Jessel & Pavit, Brynn & Ubah, and Racquel. Dr.s Kay & Ray discuss these painful topics from a trauma-focused perspective, which leads to both support & constructive criticism of each castmate.  For example, in just the backstage scene between Raquel & Brynn, both castmates, while well-intentioned, said implicitly disrespectful things to one another. So, check out what they said & how it was disrespectful, as well as numerous other painful examples of the poor treatment of one another,  on  this episode of Reality Test!Listeners are invited to visit the Patreon for free atpatreon.com/RealityTest & check out some of the benefits of a free membership & the paid tiers! Okay, we know. Technically, it's no longer Black History Month. But the thing is, we celebrate our Blackness 24/7, 365 days a year. Today's episode focuses on all things Black. In the beginning, we discuss Daniel Kaluuya's segment on the the Higher Learning show on The Ringer YouTube channel. The segment is linked down below. We take time to reflect on some of his statements, primarily his statement that it doesn't make sense to ask Black people, who themselves love Black people, why non-Black people don't like Black people. Why are Black people constantly having to explain racism, when it's not an institution that we created? What are your thoughts about this? We'd love for you to share your thoughts via Instagram (@inprogress_pod). We also dive into a few other issues tied to racism and Anti-blackness, one of them being the current season of the Bachelor, which features a biracial bachelor. The bachelor, Matt James, is both Black and White and is regarded as the first Black bachelor in the show's history. During the course of the show, allegations of racism came out against a contestant, and for some unknown reason, the host came to her defense and seriously downplayed her actions. Then, the host resigned. We discuss our thoughts about the whole situation. Suffice to say, it has played out exactly as we expected. An article is linked below with more details. We'd love to find out more about what Black history means to you or if you have any other comments about this episode! As always, frop some comments via IG @inprogress_pod! Thanks for listening! What if I told you back in May 2020 that Nike and other companies would make Juneteenth a paid holiday, ABC would cast a Black Bachelor, and NASCAR would ban the confederate flag from their race tracks? After the murder of #GeorgeFloyd, Wrangler and John Deere would release statements in support of black people (and make donations to the NAACP!), Care Bears would come back to the national consciousness with a #BlackLivesMatter bear, and even BabyNames.com would #SayTheirNames and list the names of people killed by police brutality? It’s been a wild 3 weeks, and we break it down in episode 118 of #TheBoardMeeting! Rate us 5 stars on Apple, Google, Spotify, and Stitcher!
