Salt-N-Pepa, Usher, Prince, Diana Ross, Teena Marie, Chaka Khan, An industry veteran who currently serves as one of the directors for the Hip Hop Museum, Green outlines his career spanning five decades. This includes producing concerts and/or representing as a longtime agent for artists such as Usher, Prince, Diana Ross, Teena Marie, Chaka Khan, the Backstreet Boys - among othersThen there's the fine line between the grind in the streets and the hustle in the industry. Mark battled with con artists, drug dealers and pimps and people trying to show off their local high profile at the expense of his artists. “I didn't get too caught up in that because I had to keep one eye on the money!” He stayed focused, even when distractions of every kind showed up on the road–drugs, groupies, out-of-control artists–and he kept many ships afloat when everything should have drowned. But again, the show must go on. Mark's stellar reputation put him in high demand and working with Melba and soon Freddie Jackson, Dru Hill, Al B Sure, Grandmaster Flash, a young Usher and music pioneer Prince solidified his reputation in the industry. He would join Associated Booking Corp, where his talent for spotting rising stars and his love for hip-hop led to the signing of such game-changing artists as Salt-N-Pepa, Roxanne Shante, Kid & Play, and DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. He would go on to become Director of Marketing at EMI/Capitol Records and expanded again, this time into radio, promotions, and into the fields of jazz and rap, earning accolades in promotions and even producing, writing, and publishing successful tracks like "Remember the First Time" for singer Eric Gable and "Midnight Hour" for rapper Lady Spice MC. Green moved as the industry moved and found himself in independent marketing and promotions consulting and secured a record deal with Light Year/Warner Brothers for his independent label, with singer/songwriter and R&B legend Teena Marie as his first artist. A year later, working with Northstar Distribution, Green became General Manager, distributing music for Prince's independent label, where the purple one signed R&B music siren Chaka Khan and the soul-stirrer and crooner Larry Graham on the artist's NPG Records. Soon, shaping his own destiny, Green launched Celebrity Talent Agency, representing a wide array of artists, where he's secured talents for tours, festivals and commercials nationally and globally. Ever-expanding his vision, Green also serves as Associate Director/General Manager of Lehman Performing Arts Center, Chairman of Artist Relations for The Hip-Hop Museum (THHM), and maintains ownership of Celebrity Talent Agency. The Show Must Go On! His riveting story of the industry's ups and downs and his own personal experiences will inspire anybody who believes in themselves to believe that they can live their wildest dreams!© 2025 Building Abundant Success!!2025 All Rights ReservedHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASAmazon ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy: https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

Queensbridge Houses, named after the Queensboro Bridge and known simply as “Queensbridge,” “The Bridge,” or “QB,” is the largest housing project in New York City and the largest in North America. The Queensbridge Houses were once at the center of the rap universe in North America from 1980-1990s. Queens, produced more rap talent than entire cities, states, and regions—Marley Marl, Roxanne Shante, Nas, Mobb Deep along with a hive of gifted MCs and producers emerged from QB. More than a sub-niche of New York boom bap, Queensbridge's sound mirrored life in the projects. The music was violent, claustrophobic, and nihilistic. It was confrontational. That the defining rap beefs of the 1980s (MC Shan vs. KRS-One), 1990s (East Coast vs. West Coast), and 2000s (Nas vs. Jay Z) all involved artists from Queensbridge was no coincidence. Queensbridge rap thumped. It banged.DJ Mike Nick's ... Your Forever DJ has put together his rendition of what Queensbridge and New York City sounded like during the 90' and early 2000's. QueensBridge gave hip hop a wealth of music.QUEENSBRIDGE:"A NEW YORK STATE OF MIND" MIXPresented by: DJ Mike Nick's ... Your Forever DJ

Artworkfoto: Liv HabelJingle: Awinbeh AyagibaKlipper: Mie Brandstrup Hosted on Acast. This week we're talking about a production team that had a major influence on a time in hip hop that we spoke about in the last episode, the so-called “jiggy, shiny suit, bling bling era.” Even though they had been around since 1990 doing tracks for act like Chubb Rock, Kool G. Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shante and The Real Roxanne, 1994 is when they really started to shine. Making albums and tracks for LL Cool J, Nas, Foxy Brown, Jay-Z, J. Lo, Will Smith, 50 Cent. You can arguably say that the sound of hip hop & R&B music was defined by them. They have 23 number one singles and five Grammy awards, we're talking about Poke & Tone, the Trackmasters. If you enjoy the content that we're making and you're looking for ways to support our independent podcast, here's a little something that you can do:Please leave us a 5 star rating or review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podchaser or Goodpods. You can also drop a few coins in our tip jar here: https://ko-fi.com/troypodcast if you're feeling generous. If it's merch that you're looking for, check out our store, Nuthin' But A Tee Thang, at teethang.comSpreading the word about the show to your friends and family helps too. However you choose to support, know that it is greatly appreciated as always.

Happy Born Day Hip Hop! How do we celebrate the culture that has given us so much over the past 50 years? By sharing two interview with true Hip Hop pioneers. Over our 250+ episode run we have had the privilege of talking with many Hip Hop legends none more important than Roxanne Shante and Easy AD (of the Cold Crush Brothers). Despite being a global cultural and economic phenomenon, Hip Hop is still criminally under-documented (especially the era before people were making shit tons of money off rap music). That's why we are proud to present this week's episode which features excerpts from DBRP Classic interviews with two true Hip Hop pioneers. In the first segment, we flash back to our Roxanne Shante interview from 2018 as she prepared for the release of her Netflix biopic. She described her incredible ascent to the top of the rap world and her struggles with misogyny in Hip Hop. Part two of this birthday bash features an excerpt from an interview we did with Cold Crush Brother Easy AD. He touches on the park jam era and whether the Cold Crush has been properly celebrated for their contributions to the culture. Hip Hop has been very very good to us. Here's to 50 more years! The Jaz and Jay-Z are certainly each worthy of their own stories being told, but one of my favorite things is peeling back the layers of how various stories tie things together, and that's the adventure we begin here, in this two-part special that touches not only on the history of The Jaz and Jay-Z, but touches on some other key stories along the way, including moments with Fresh Gordon, UTFO, LL Cool J, Chubb Rock, Gary Byrd, Roxanne Shante, Choice MCs, and more.... This is Diggin' The Crates, with Kid Abstrakt. This episode of the DTC podcast is supporting the upcoming paperback release of God Save The Queens - The Essential History of women in hip hop - by Kathy Iandoli - As a massively respected journalist who has written for the likes of Vibe, Pitchfork, XXL and many more, Kathy's book shines a much needed light on the history of women within hip hop. There's no doubt that female voices have not been given enough time and respect within the genre's history, and this book is righting that wrong. Covering every facet of the scene, from early lyricists such as Roxanne Shante and Queen Latifah to the current superstars of the scene, the book explores gender, money, sexuality, objectification and more. A lot has happened since LA Riots introduced a bawdy blend of indie rock, alt dance & electro music to the world in 2007. LA Riots has reinvented a sound that melds influences of techno, house and drum n' bass. They have accomplished what eludes so many in the genre: maintaining their underground credibility while remixing some of music's premier pop and rock labels. Over the years, their broad musical scope has led to plays from the top DJs in the industry. These accolades from fellow DJs have put them on the speed dial of A&R teams to shine up pop and rock remixes for major labels such as Warner Bros., Virgin, Tommy Boy and Interscope. LA Riots' production is varied, but their quality control and precision in the studio creates a big room sound that brings the party straight to the dance floor. After a short break, John and Daniel are ready to release a slew of new music in 2018 and got an early jump with remixes of Tricky's “Running Wild” and The Chainsmokers' “The One”. Next in line are releases on Spinnin, Country Club Disco, a remix for NAATIONS, and much more. ------------------ Tracklist: 1. option4 - Lifeline 2. Ryan Shepherd - I'll Bass You 3.
