Send us a textWe live in a society that's quick to label inequality as "the way things are" rather than confronting the systemic barriers that keep certain communities locked in cycles of disadvantage. The recent UK High Court ruling that 20% VAT on private school fees is lawful isn't just about taxation – it's about working-class families making extraordinary sacrifices because they've been failed by an educational system that desperately needs complete overhaul, not just additional financial barriers. This episode dives into how discrimination manifests across different spheres – from education to professional sports to everyday workplace interactions. When I was commanded to "smile" during a meeting, it wasn't an innocent request. It was a loaded directive rooted in racial and gender expectations that police Black women's expressions and demeanor. Similarly, when tennis star Aryna Sabalenka downplayed Coco Gauff's major wins, or when the Grammys suddenly split the Best Country Album category after Beyoncé's success, we're witnessing the same underlying problem: reluctance to celebrate Black excellence on its own terms.Perhaps most personally revealing is our exploration of friendship in midlife – what I call the "friendship renaissance." After years of giving too much to those who offered little in return, I've learned the value of having just two genuine friends rather than numerous superficial connections. True friendship requires a collective understanding of honesty, loyalty and love that many simply don't share. As we age, we become more intentional about who deserves access to our lives, recognizing that it's better to embrace solitude than accept relationships built on imbalance. What friendships are you nurturing or releasing as you evolve? How are you defining what connection means on your own terms?Sponsorships - Email me: hello@toyatalks.com Cc: toyawashington10@gmail.comTikTok: toya_washington Twitter: @toya_w (#ToyaTalksPodcast) Snapchat: @toyawashington Instagram: @toya_washington & @toya_talks www.toyatalks.comhttps://toyatalks.com/Music (Intro and Outro) Written and created by Nomadic Star

A CLASSIC ROCKER FINDS OUT HE HAS A LOVE CHILD FROM THE 80's, some insane Movies announced and A wild list of celebrities and how they caught their significant others cheating… it's like celebs are just like us guys!CRAP ON FRIDAY Rick Moranis has been gone way too long. Even those new "Ghostbusters" movies didn't lure him back to Hollywood. But I am quite excited to announce that he WILL return to once again play Dark Helmet in "Spaceballs 2"!!! Bill Pullman will return as the hero Lone Starr, too. And Mel Brooks will be back as Yogurt . . . and, presumably . . . President Skroob. (He played both characters in the original.) Josh Gad co-wrote the script, and he's expected to be in it, too. Pullman's son Lewis Pullman has also been cast, along with Keke Palmer . . . but there's no word who they're playing. There's also no word on any other returning cast members. Obviously, John Candy, Joan Rivers, and Dick Van Patten won't be back, since they're no longer with us. Mel released the first teaser yesterday. There's no footage, since filming hasn't begun yet. It starts with a text crawl that makes fun of all the "Star Wars" prequels, sequels, sequels to the prequels, prequels to the sequels, and TV spin-offs. Then it lists all the "Dune", "Jurassic Park", "Avatar", and Marvel movies, plus DC's TWO attempts to start a cinematic universe . . . and just about every other overdone franchise you can name. Then, after a quick appearance from Mel, we get a shot of Rick Moranis' cracked helmet, and the tagline: "The Schwartz Awakens in 2027." Which sounds like a possible title but it's spaceballs and mel brooks so it could be anything. Here is Mel making his announcement. Jerry Seinfeld Proposes ‘Live-Action Sequel' to 'Bee Movie'Jerry Seinfeld has people buzzin' with this idea! The comedic genius posted about the possibility of a “live-action sequel” to his 2007 animated hit Bee Movie.“Bee Movie, which came out nearly 20 years ago, is #4 on Netflix,” he wrote on Instagram showing a hand holding a tennis ball with a honey bee on it. The next slide was the movie's poster, an image of Seinfeld's character Barry B. Benson similarly straddling a tennis ball.“Today, my friend Spike Feresten, one of the writers on the film, was playing tennis and this happened."He continued, “Clearly a sign. Time for a live-action sequel..?" DreamWorks' Bee Movie, which Seinfeld produced, co-wrote, and starred in along with Renée Zellweger, has become a cult favorite since its release.Bee Movie also featured the voices of Matthew Broderick, John Goodman, Chris Rock, Kathy Bates, Megan Mullally, Oprah Winfrey, and several celebrities appearing as animated versions of themselves, including Larry King, Ray Liotta, and Sting.Saint Louis' own Nelly and Ashanti are putting their lives on TV for all to see. They announced an upcoming reality show called Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together.A show synopsis says Nelly and Ashanti "rekindle their love, navigate the ups and downs of being newlyweds and new parents, and juggle their careers."The eight-episode series will air on Peacock starting June 26th.A DNA Test Connects Billy Idol To A Son He Didn't Know He HadDetails on the lovechild Billy Idol didn't know he had until a few years ago have surfaced.Idol's daughter, Bonnie, shared in the new doc, 'Billy Idol Should Be Dead', "My husband just surprised me with a DNA test as a Christmas present [a few years ago]. Then a few weeks later, I get the results back on the app and open it and I'm like, who is this? This Brant. His info reads, 'New York, 1985, looking for my biological dad.' I was like, ‘What?'"Brant, Idol's lovechild, grew up believing his dad was someone else until a different DNA questioned his mother's claims about his father. After confronting his mom, she told Brant, "Well, it's pretty crazy, but back in the day, we broke up and I actually spent a weekend with Billy Idol."Fans have done the math and calculate that Brant was conceived during Idol's wildly successful 1984 'Rebel Yell' tour.Idol has whole-heartedly accepted Brant as family, saying, "I really enjoyed being a dad. I always wanted a boy and a girl, and I finagled my way into a boy and a girl. I actually had a son that I didn't realize, who I fathered on the Rebel Yell tour without knowing it. So I somehow finagled this as well."Brant was at Idol's Walk of Fame ceremony back in 2023.Prime Video Will Soon Show Double The AdsAmazon Prime Video is about to double the number of commercials shown per hour on its ad-supported membership level. An Adweek report got the news from an Amazon spokesperson about the amount of commercials going to "four to six minutes per hour" from the two to three minutes that Prime users are used to. In 2024, subscribers who had ad-free access were forced to pay an extra $3 a month to maintain the status. Jay-Z Loses $1 Million NBA Finals Bet Jay-Z is out $1 million after losing a bet on the NBA Finals. Jay placed a bet prior to the series, banking on the Oklahoma City Thunder to win the championship in five games. After Wednesday night's Thunder loss to the Indiana Pacers, OKC can't win the series unless they do it in six or seven games. Jay-Z would have won $3.5 million if the bet had cashed in. With a net worth of $2.5 billion, we're sure Jay-Z will be alright. Ok you guys remember Spinal Tap? The Album cover debate with the label and why it became an all black cover or as Nigel would say NONE MORE BLACK? It was because the original had a woman on all fours with a dog leash on and it was deemed sexist…. To which Nigel replies “Whats wrong with being sexy? Well get this, Sabrina Carpenter announced her new album yesterday, and it's causing a lot of controversy. It's called "Man's Best Friend", and the cover has Sabrina on all fours, in front of a man who's pulling a handful of her hair. A women's advocacy group in Scotland called it "regressive", saying it reduces women to, quote, "pets, props, and possessions," and promotes "an element of violence and control." Sabrina's fans are defending it as SATIRE, and a commentary on how badly women are treated. And some are pointing out that the first single, "Manchild", actually makes FUN of men. HERE IS A CLIP OF THATMeanwhile, in the new "Rolling Stone" cover story, Sabrina talks about being criticized for the sexual imagery in her stage show. She says, quote "It's always so funny to me when people complain. They're like, 'All she does is sing about this.' But those are the songs that you've made popular. Clearly you love sex. You're obsessed with it." She adds, quote, "I truly feel like I've never lived in a time where women have been picked apart more, and scrutinized in every capacity. I'm not just talking about me. I'm talking about every female artist that is making art right now." Pope Leo isn't even the most famous guy in his family. The "New York Times" researched his family tree, and found out that he's related to a bunch of celebrities. The link is an ancestor from about six generations back. He name was Louis Boucher de Grandpre, and he was born in Quebec. And because of him, Leo is distant cousins with Justin Bieber, Justin Trudeau, Angelina Jolie, Hillary Clinton, Jack Kerouac, and Madonna. It's interesting that Leo would be related to Madonna, given that the Catholic Church has condemned her several times . . . most famously when she released her "Like a Prayer" video in 1989. A few years ago, Madonna reached out to Pope Francis, asking to meet with him to discuss "important matters." She told him, quote, "I've been ex-communicated 3 times. It doesn't seem fair." If you've ever wondered how the creators of "Friends" came up with the character of Joey Tribbiani . . . we might just have the answer this morning. Joey Lawrence claims Matt LeBlanc's character was based on HIS character Joey Russo from "Blossom". Lawrence says, quote, "Joey Russo was so successful that when they were creating 'Friends', they wanted a 25-year-old version of that." Supposedly, Matt's character wasn't even originally called Joey, but they changed it because the "Blossom" character was so successful. Joey even claims that Matt was sent to tapings of "Blossom" where he would, quote, "sit up in the audience with a yellow notepad and take notes on how I portrayed Joey Russo." He says they wanted Matt to bring the "innocence" of Joey Russo to Joey Tribbiani, so the character could, quote, "get away with his womanizing." I guess the Grammys were sick of hearing about whether Beyoncé deserved to win Best Country Album for "Cowboy Carter". So, they just announced a major change. For next year's Grammys, the award formally known as Best Country Album will now be called Best Contemporary Country Album . . . and they will also be adding a new category: Best Traditional Country Album. There's a lot to unpack here. And one year after Beyoncé wins makes the timing of this all the more clickbait-y. According to the Grammy website, "traditional country music", quote, "adheres to the more traditional sound structures of the country genre, including rhythm and singing style, lyrical content, as well as traditional country instrumentation such as acoustic guitar, steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, piano, and live drums." Where "contemporary country music", quote, "remains reminiscent and relevant to the legacy of country music's culture, while also engaging in more contemporary music forms." Someone tweeted, "Morgan Wallen and Post Malone better not be in the traditional country category at the Grammys, because in what world are they traditional country?" Wait, hold up. When Morgan collaborated with Alvin and the Chipmunks, that wasn't traditional country??New in Theaters: "How to Train Your Dragon", "Materialists", and "The Life of Chuck" There's nothing like a good breakup story. Here are seven times a celebrity found out their partner was cheating in an unconventional way: 1. Demi Moore learned that Ashton Kutcher was having an affair in 2011, from a Google Alert. When she called him on it, he admitted it right away. Her response was, quote, "Are you [effing] kidding me?" 2. Britney Spears started dating lawyer David Lucado in 2012. But in 2014, her father found out there was paparazzi footage of David kissing another woman. He bought it to prevent it from being released, and Britney broke it off. 3. Kourtney Kardashian dumped Scott Disick in 2008, after finding texts on his phone from a contact called, quote, "my wife." They did the on-and-off thing until 2015, when photos emerged of Scott with another woman in France. 4. Elizabeth Hurley found out Hugh Grant was cheating on her in 1995, when he got arrested for GETTING IT ON with Sunset Boulevard prostitute Divine Brown in his car. They didn't break up until 2000, and they're still friends. 5. Laura Dern found out Billy Bob Thornton was being unfaithful when the news broke that he had ELOPED with Angelina Jolie in 2000. She was away making a movie, and she never saw it coming. 6. Eva Longoria's marriage to NBA star Tony Parker ended in 2010, after she found inappropriate texts with another woman on his phone. 7. This one's ancient history, but it was a HUGE tabloid story back in the day: In 1958, actress Debbie Reynolds was missing her husband, Eddie Fisher, because he was supposedly away on tour. So she decided to give her friend Elizabeth Taylor a call . . . and who answered Liz's phone? Eddie FREAKIN' Fisher. (!!!) Eddie left Debbie and married Liz, but that only lasted five years.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hosts: Taylor Morgan and Erin Rider  Battle heats up on the national stage between the executive, judicial branches It's a battle between two branches of government on the national level: the executive and the judicial. President Trump and his team are pushing back on a few rulings from federal judges, saying the courts have no say over what the administration is doing. But legal precedent would disagree. We begin Inside Sources discussing the proper balance of power between the federal branches.  On the Hill 2025: Utah’s legislature looks at ways to change Utah’s judiciary Here in Utah, the state legislature is looking at ways to change the judicial branch of government. Some might say the legislature is trying to weaken the judiciary, while others say they’re working to ensure a proper balance between the branches of government. State Representative Jason Kyle joins us as we look into a few of those bills, which includes raising the threshold for judicial retention.  Religious organizations suing Trump administration over ICE raids in churches One of the recent changes to Immigration and Customs Enforcement policies was the removal of places of worship as protected places. The change meant that ICE agents could conduct raids on churches to find and capture immigrants who are here illegally. Now, it’s prompted a lawsuit from more than 2 dozen churches. KSL Legal Analyst and Inside Sources co-host Greg Skordas breaks down the latest lawsuit for our listeners.  On the Hill 2025: Potential changes to public records laws Could new legislation on Utah’s Capitol Hill make it harder for the average Utahn to see public records? First Amendment advocates say yes – it could become harder. Legislators, on the other hand, say their proposed changes would actually make things better for the public. KSL has been involved in the fight to keep public records ... public. The Inside Sources hosts analyze the current situation.  On the Hill 2025: Reducing liabilities for owners of dogs who bite trespassers If someone trespasses on your property and they get bitten by your dog, are you liable? A bill working its way through the Utah State Senate addresses these kinds of situations, looking to reduce the liability you – as the dog owner – may face. Erin Rider and Taylor Morgan discuss this and another dog-biting bill.  Rep. Burgess Owens says DEI played a role in Beyonce winning a Grammy Two days ago, musical artist Beyonce became the first black woman to win a Grammy Award for Best Country Album. Shortly thereafter, Utah Representative Burgess Owens spoke to a journalist and said Beyonce's win had to do with DEI. Is this an appropriate assessment? Or did Beyonce win based on her merits? Taylor and Erin have a lively conversation about it.  Pres. Trump signs order banning federal agencies from using paper straws Paper or plastic? Not bags... straws. President Trump has often said how much he hates paper straws. And now, he's signed an order barring federal agencies from using paper straws. It might seem like an odd political story, but the Inside Sources have lots of thoughts they share with listeners on this subject.

This week on Name 3 Songs… ⚡    Each year when the Grammy Awards roll around, we typically have an episode that critiques the award ceremony for being vastly out of touch with popular culture: Beyonce is snubbed for Album of the Year, BTS is used as a bait tool for viewership, Best New Artist doesn't represent the talent at the present moment. The list goes on. This year, at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards it was *checks notes* a good time. So good, to the point that there were hardly any critiques for the Recording Academy this year. So how did they do it? We discuss the significance of the expanded voting committee (13,000 voting members) which includes 40% POC, and large numbers of younger voters and female members. We also get into some of our personal highlights, featuring Doechii, Raye, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter. Brandi Carlile is an eleven-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, performer, producer, #1 New York Times Bestselling author and activist – one of music's most respected voices. Aside from the production of her own work, Carlile has been increasingly in-demand as a record producer – helming albums by Tanya Tucker, Lucius, The Secret Sisters, Brandy Clark, and Tish Melton. Tanya Tucker's 2019 album While I'm Livin', co-produced by Carlile with Shooter Jennings, won the GRAMMY for Best Country Album. Last year saw her production talents excel with new album projects from Brandy Clark and Joni Mitchell – both of which took home wins at this year's GRAMMY Awards – as well as her cover of “Home” for the last season of Ted Lasso and her version of “Closer To Fine” with wife Catherine Carlile for Barbie The Album (Best Weekend Ever Edition). Carlile has collaborated closely with Joni Mitchell, Elton John, The Highwomen, Soundgarden, Alicia Keys, Marcus Mumford, Dolly Parton and more. When not on the road, she spends time in her home studio in rural Washington state where she and Catherine raise their two daughters, Evangeline and Elijah. Tish Melton: 18-year-old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who wears her incredibly perceptive heart on her sleeve. “As a songwriter, I've realized you can just tell stories,” she says. “They don't have to be big, dramatic moments. Personally, I learned how to write songs by simply sharing my journey and feeling how I naturally do.” For her debut EP When We're Older, she has teamed up with eleven-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Brandi Carlile, who is a mentor to Melton and joins as producer. Their musical chemistry is undeniable, rooted in mutual respect, shared taste, and an appreciation for good songwriting and musical catharsis. Inspired by the clear-eyed storytelling and indie rock influences of Taylor Swift and boygenius, Melton chronicles teenage relationships – from the lonely pain of first love, unrequited love, friend crushes, joyous friendships, and the pain, fear and excitement of becoming an adult. She tells these stories as she's living them, with a sharp eye for detail and lyricism that brings them to life. Her work has received praise from Variety, V Magazine, FLOOD, and Magnet Magazine. Edgy. Classic. Country. A defining voice of music and a modern-day legend, GRAMMY award winner, Tanya Tucker is known for some of country music's biggest hits such as" "Soon," "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane," "It's a Little Too Late," "Trouble," "Texas (When I Die)," "If It Don't Come Easy" and "Strong Enough To Bend," Tanya has cemented herself as one the most admired and influential performers in county music. Since the auspicious start of her career at the age of 13, when released the classic county hit, "Delta Dawn," in 1972, Tucker has amassed 23 Top 40 albums, 56 Top 40 singles, 10 No. 1 songs on the Billboard country charts, numerous accolades including two CMA's, two ACM's, three CMT awards, and in 2020 she won her first two GRAMMY Awards for Best Country Album. Molly & The Danger Band started in 2006 when Molly Otis crawled onto a three foot wide ledge, hovering eight feet above a glass top bar at the Pavilion in downtown Hayward WI. You probably had heard or seen Molly Otis as the front person for Warner recording artists Molly and the Heymakers. She is a powerful vocalist and plays multiple instruments including fiddle, mandolin and guitar. Randy Wydra sings, lays down the bass lines, adds acoustic guitar and even plays drums with his feet. You could call them a rock/country/jazz/bluegrass band, but they are really an Americana band. The blending of different American roots music creates a unique musical cocktail, with a twist of Irish. From classic covers, traditional and original music, no matter what you call it, you're bound to have a good time.   First broadcast in 1994, Tent Show Radio is a weekly one-hour radio program showcasing the best live recordings from acclaimed music acts and entertainers who grace the Big Top Chautauqua stage each summer in beautiful Bayfield, WI. Edgy. Classic. Country. A defining voice of music and a modern-day legend, GRAMMY award winner, Tanya Tucker is known for some of country music's biggest hits such as" "Soon," "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane," "It's a Little Too Late," "Trouble," "Texas (When I Die)," "If It Don't Come Easy" and "Strong Enough To Bend." Since the auspicious start of her career at the age of 13 when she released the classic county hit, "Delta Dawn" in 1972, Tanya has cemented herself as one the most admired and influential performers in county music. Tucker has amassed 23 Top 40 albums, 56 Top 40 singles, 10 No. In this episode, Laura and Tracy sit down with songwriter, producer and publisher Luke Laird. Luke talks the magic of writers' rounds, being reluctant to ask for help, letting go of jealousy and the nitty gritty details of his early publishing deals. Laura also shares the story of a pivotal moment that lead to her being a songwriter. Ferocious talent, wit, and sincere humility rarely come together like they do in Grammy winner Luke Laird. Since moving to Nashville from a small farming town in Pennsylvania, Laird has become one of country and pop's top songwriters and producers. The numbers are staggering: 52 radio singles –– 24 of which were Billboard No. 1 hits and 5 of which were in the Top 5 –– 2 Billboard No. 1 singles as a producer, and more than 125 released cuts fill his catalog. In four separate years, every single released that Laird wrote peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. He earned ACM Songwriter of the Year honors in 2015, and was named BMI Songwriter of the Year in 2012.   As a producer, Laird has helped shape some of music's most critically acclaimed projects of the last decade. He co-produced Kacey Musgraves' 2013 debut, Same Trailer, Different Park, which garnered Grammy honors for Best Country Album and an ACM Album of the Year win. In 2015, he returned to the studio with Musgraves to co-produce her triumphant sophomore release, Pageant Material. Laird earned his second Grammy for Best Country Song with Musgraves' “Space Cowboy” in 2019. He also has producer credits on Thomas Rhett, Ingrid Michaelson, Brett Eldredge, Steve Moakler, Everette, Kassi Ashton, Anna Vaus and more.   A slew of Grammy, ACM, CMA, and other nominations line Laird's resume, which also includes six CMA Triple Play Awards, four NSAI “Songs I Wish I'd Written” Awards, the 2012 BMI Country Song of the Year trophy for Rodney Atkins' “Take a Back Road,” and more. His list of No. 1 singles reads like a carefully curated playlist of soulful contemporary country: “Hard To Forget” (Sam Hunt); “Fast” and “I See You” (Luke Bryan); “Head Over Boots” (Jon Pardi); “T-Shirt” (Thomas Rhett); “Gonna” and “Hillbilly Bone” (Blake Shelton); “Talladega,” “Give Me Back My Hometown,” and “Drink In My Hand” (Eric Church); “American Kids” (Kenny Chesney); “Sunshine & Whiskey” (Frankie Ballard); “One of Those Nights” (Tim McGraw); “Downtown” (Lady Antebellum); “Somebody's Heartbreak” (Hunter Hayes); “Beat This Summer” (Brad Paisley); “Pontoon” (Little Big Town); “You” (Chris Young); “A Little Bit Stronger” (Sara Evans); “Take A Back Road” (Rodney Atkins); and “Temporary Home,” “Undo It,” “So Small,” and “Last Name” (Carrie Underwood).   Other artists who have recorded Laird-penned songs represent a jaw-dropping grab bag of genres: George Strait, Maren Morris, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Brandy Clark, Toby Keith, Jake Owen, Steve Moakler, Sister Hazel, Ingrid Michaelson, Ashley Monroe, Sam Hunt, Angaleena Presley, Nikki Lane, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Sheryl Crow, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, Ne-Yo, Neal McCoy, Amy Grant, and many more.   Laird recently released his own record, Music Row, that offers an intimate look into his journey from Hartstown to Nashville. The first-ever record from one of music's most trusted creators and collaborators, Music Row is a songwriter's story, traversing childhood, grief, addiction, family, and the community he loves. The songs are deeply personal and sometimes raw, all delivered by the songwriter himself.   Today, Laird writes for and co-owns Nashville-based publishing and management company Creative Nation with his wife, Beth.   Learn more about your ad choices. Todd Barrow is making a name for himself as a country artist to watch. The Texas singer-songwriter has racked up more than a few accolades, from a PRSA Award of Excellence, an Akademia Award for Best Country Album, and an artist spotlight in Alternative Roots Magazine, American Pride Magazine and AVA Radio. He has appeared on television shows including Good Morning Texas with Jerry Matheny and Texas Music Café on PBS. He's even shared the stage and studio with some of country music's heaviest hitters, from CMA musicians in Miranda Lambert's band to Fort Worth Producer of the Year Bart Rose. But it's more than just Todd's success to date that makes him such a compelling country artist. What's most readily apparent in Todd Barrow's music is his heart.  Todd's music is no country for old men. While he undoubtedly draws his sonic influence from titans like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, his melodies skew modern. He plays almost every instrument, from piano to guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and drums, and the multi-instrumentalist doubles as a songwriter for himself as well as for other artists.

Absolutely THRILLED to announce new guest, Catherine Britt, to The Story! When you look at modern country music you can identify a diverse range of styles that have evolved from the traditional roots form. From pop country to bush ballads, acoustic folk-leaning songs to rousing country rock and the polymorphic blend of Americana. One Australian artist that can lay claim to all of these strains is Catherine Britt, a songwriter who has already packed a respected and highly acclaimed career into her first two decades as a recording artist. From Newcastle to Nashville, Catherine made the move to the home of country music at just 17 years old. It proved to be a brave decision that gave her immeasurable experience as a musician, insight into the machinations of the industry and a contract with the legendary RCA Records. Upon returning to Australia in 2009, Catherine set about recording her debut full length album Dusty Smiles and Heartbreak Cures, the first of five consecutive albums nominated for Album Of The Year at the CMAA (Country Music Awards of Australia). The accolades didn't stop there. Along the way she has received five Golden Guitar Awards, the CMA Global Artist Of The Year award in 2010 and six ARIA Award nominations for Best Country Album. The critical acclaim for her albums and reputation as a performer has seen Catherine tour and perform with some of the biggest names in music, including Sir Elton John, Don McLean, Kasey Chambers, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Kenny Chesney, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Chris Isaak and Keith Urban. Not content with just carving out an enviable career as a songwriter, performer and recording artist, Catherine has also been involved in the wider country music community as a radio broadcaster on ABC's Saturday Night Country show, TV host on CMC's Alt Country program and most recently as the editor and owner of Rhythms, Australia's premiere roots music magazine.Life has a way of throwing curveballs, both good and bad, and the few years have seen Catherine fight and win a battle with breast cancer, give birth to two boys, and leave her marriage.“Over the years being an artist has meant different things to me and I've had different goals. My goal from when I was a young girl was to make money from music which I've been able to do and I'm really proud of. At different points of my life I've felt the pull of wanting to be famous and chasing that dream, living in Nashville and then realising that that wasn't what I wanted to do. It's constantly changing but my ultimate goal has been fulfilled and I can never see myself not making music. It's what I've always done and it comes naturally to me and I feel like it's what I'm meant to do, that and being a mum.”You can find Catherine and her projects here:Website : http://www.catherinebritt.comFacebook : https://www.facebook.com/CatherineBrittFansYoutube :https://www.youtube.com/c/CatherineBrittMusicTwitter: @catherinebrittInsta : https://www.instagram.com/catherine_britt/Apple Music : https://music.apple.com/us/artist/catherine-britt/31726801Spotify : https://open.spotify.com/artist/2U7nIOFSqqsKaBdSIdL0iZ...Go see her at Tellus350 Aug 21st, 6pm! All Heart with Paul Cardall

Recently stepping off the stage as a host for the season finale of Canada's Got Talent, award-winning artist Lindsay Ell joins All Heart with Paul Cardall to discuss her journey leading up to CMA nominations, a Gold record, head-lining her first concert tour, and the recent release of a her hit single, “Right On Time.” Lindsay, whose toured with Keith Urban, Brad Paisely, and Sugarland is putting a voice to the pressure she feels as a career-focused woman in her 30s, “Right On Time” is an anthem for anyone who has felt pressured to be something or someone they aren't, while working on timelines determined by societal norms. ABOUT LINDSAY“I've learned to care a little less about what everybody thinks,” says singer/songwriter/guitarist Lindsay Ell. “Following my gut instinct, truly saying what I want to say—that's the magic, the elements that make you relatable and real. Before, I was worrying about writing for radio, for fans, but now this is what I know, this is my journey. And the more honest I get, the more effective it is.”With her new album, heart theory, Ell does just that, weaving the story of her journey of the heart in her own voice using her arsenal of tools as a musician and artist to give each song the sonic backdrop it deserves. “Theory is the science of music, heart theory is the science of a heart,” says Ell.The tracks take the listener along the path of the seven stages of grief: shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, testing and acceptance. “If my last record was called The Project, this one could be called the process.” From the shock-to-the-heart felt in the groovy opening track “Hits me” to the sing-along-at-the-top-of-your-lungs acceptance of the closing track “ReadY to love,” Ell invites you to experience her journey.Produced by the legendary Dann Huff, heart theory maintains a sonic depth and auditory aura while still conveying the emotional rawness and storytelling that highlights Ell's growth since her debut album on Stoney Creek Records, The Project, which debuted at No. 1 on the Country Album Sales Chart and was named Billboard's “Best Country Album of 2017.” That album spawned her first Top 20 hit in the US, as well as her first No.1 on the Canadian Country radio charts – making her the first female artist to top that chart in 10 years. Most recently, she scored her first No. 1 with “What Happens in a Small Town,” her duet with Brantley Gilbert – another milestone moment making her the first Canadian artist to hit No. 1 in the US since Emerson Drive's “Moments” in 2007, and the first Canadian woman to reach the top of the charts since Terri Clark with “I Just Wanna Be Mad” in 2003.Over the past 3 years, Ell has shared the stage with some of the biggest acts in the world touring with Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Sugarland.  She has more than held her own in moments alongside such artists as Mellissa Etheridge, Billy Ray Cyrus, Robert Randolph, Billy Gibbons and other legends. She has made multiple appearances on the CMA Awards stage including playing with Carrie Underwood and performing with distinguished country group, Little Big Town, alongside other powerhouse female artists in one the biggest moments of the 2019 CMA Awards where she was also nominated for Musical Event of the Year. Ell's nominations do not stop there, she is a 2x 2020 ACM nominee for New Female Artist of the Year and Music Event of the Year.Concurrently though, Ell was grappling with the real-life complexities that come with growing up, even as a rising star. “The past couple of years, I've been through a lot,” she says. “A public break-up took me through all of the stages of heartbreak, I turned 30, I had a health scare and countless other hurdles. And I came out the other side as a full human. There are moments when life just smacks you in the face and you need to do the work of figuring out what that means, how it changed you, and how to take full control of your life.”Ell points to several of the new songs as examples of her evolution and sense of maturity. “There's a song called ‘make you' that's about a trauma that happened to me as a little girl, something I have never publicly talked about,” she says. “Holding pieces of our story back means missing out on the opportunity to feel inspired, changed, drawn to make a difference. I got into this business to change people, to make them feel something. So, it was important to me to get really honest and say that all of us have skeletons in the closet, but those things make us who we are.”With a chorus and guitar lines that soar “wAnt me back” is glowing with self-appreciation and tints of anger. “I love watching people step into their own power,” says Ell. “It is one of the most inspiring moments to watch someone finally see their full potential.” With this sentiment, Ell co-wrote this mid-tempo track with hit-maker Kane Brown along with Matt McGinn and Lindsay Rimes. Preaching confidence and that there is no other you, Ell hopes to inspire others to free themselves of the shackles that no longer serve them well.Lauded by Forbes magazine as “one of the most exciting and talented young artists in Country music,” the Calgary native learned to play guitar while traveling with her father to Country-Bluegrass camps as a young girl. Ell was championed by Randy Bachman (of Bachman Turner Overdrive and The Guess Who), who discovered her at the age of 13, and was soon touring alongside the likes of Luke Bryan and Buddy Guy.While Ell has earned special recognition for her blistering guitar playing, she notes that she doesn't want to be defined by any one dimension of her work. She says, “I don't want to be known as just a guitar player. My favorite artists, like John Mayer and Keith Urban, are great players, but that's not the only thing you think of. I write, sing, produce and think all the pieces of the puzzle come together to make an artist's story unique, to paint the full picture. Yes, this is a huge guitar record, but that's not what I want be the first thing that rings the bell when you listen.”A major part of Ell's success has come from her dedicated exposure to an international audience. She has performed on her own tour, at the C2C Festival, opening tours for stars in their home territories, and as part of the CMA's “Introducing Nashville” series in Europe and Asia (at one point playing in eight different countries in 32 days).“I've loved doing so much international travel.” she says. “I always wanted to build my career beyond the borders of North America, so it's incredible to go to New Zealand, Japan, Germany, places where they're trying to figure out what I'm saying, but they're so into it. They listen to the catalog, learn the songs, come to the show ready for the experience—they're the perfect audience, they care so much.”As Lindsay Ell gears up for a new album and continues to tour around the globe, she embraces this next chapter of her career. “Artists are always scared of the infamous sophomore album,” she says, “but I'm so excited. I've done the work, I've found the right team, and I'm coming at it from a place of more strength and more honesty. I'm ready to do this, so bring it on.”Keep up will all Lindsay Ell on her socials:Instagram Facebook | Twitter | TikTok | YouTube

In this episode of the Live Through Love Podcast, Ruben welcomes country music artist, Mickey Guyton, to talk about building resilience in your career, dealing with loneliness as a creative, and the importance of trusting yourself and your purpose through life's hardest challenges. Making history as the first Black artist to earn a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album, Song, AND Solo Performance, Mickey is a force to be reckoned with! Listen in as Mickey sheds light on the highest and lowest moments of her musical career, the most powerful lessons she's learned along the way, and what she's still working on today. She shares about her struggle with self-love and the voice of doubt, the dark side of having a record deal, and what gave her the motivation to keep writing and singing even when she wanted to quit. “You sign a record deal and they sign you because of who you are as an artist in that moment. Then… they want to change and strip everything away from you that was you. And I allowed it… and in doing that, I completely lost who I was.” - Mickey Guyton Ruben challenges Mickey and YOU to write a love letter to yourself, especially during times where you're being too hard on yourself. Remember to give yourself grace and don't lose belief in yourself because you never know, the record deal of your lifetime could be just around the corner. “My mom always told me… to find a purpose within your purpose and that was something that always struck me… My purpose is art but it's also to bring love and equality to an industry through my art and that helps me sleep at night.” - Mickey Guyton SUBSCRIBE to Live Through Love so you never miss an episode & leave us a 5-STAR RATING & REVIEW - thank you! Described as “A signpost for modern female complexity,” by Billboard, today’s Warner Music Nashville / Atlantic Records recording artist guest was nominated for three GRAMMY Awards and was the only country artist nominated in the general field “Big Four” categories as a Best New Artist nominee. Tied as this year’s most-nominated country artist alongside Miranda Lambert, she co-wrote and co-produced every song on her debut album, Lady Like, which earned a nod in the Best Country Album category as well. The critically-lauded project features her Platinum-selling, No. 1 debut single “More Hearts Than Mine,” also nominated for Best Country Song, and her current single “Lady Like,” which is climbing the country radio charts now. In addition, the 2020 CMA, ACM and CMT Music Awards nominee took home Song of the Year honors earlier this year from both the MusicRow Awards and NSAI’s Nashville Songwriter Awards. She has received widespread acclaim from outlets such as The New York Times, NPR, HUFFPOST, Entertainment Weekly, ELLE, Teen Vogue, WWD, PAPER and Wonderland to name a few and has made several national TV performances including appearances on ELLEN, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Late Late Show with James Corden, TODAY, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The 54th Annual CMA Awards and The 2020 CMT Music Awards. The accomplished singer / songwriter has penned songs for artists including Bebe Rexha, Charli XCX, FLETCHER and Dove Cameron. Having started last year touring with Keith Urban on select dates, Andress’ 2020 tour dates also included shows with Dan + Shay, Tim McGraw and Thomas Rhett. Toby is joined by country singer Todd Barrow to talk about his unique style of music and his new single 'Girl Like You'.Todd Barrow is making a name for himself as a country artist to watch. “"If I can put a smile on someone's face through song, well that just means the world to me,” he says. “I try to get to the real heart and soul of a song. To me, it's not just words but a story, and I do my best to portray that with every line. That's my main draw to country music; the stories, the people, and the sincerity that comes from the heart." It's precisely that heart that has won over audiences around the world. Todd Barrow's recent single, “The House That Love Built”, co-written with Sonny Burgess, was featured on RightNow TV and was honored by PRSA Fort Worth for its fundraising efforts on behalf of the Ronald McDonald house. Todd was featured in the lineup for Bo's Extravaganza festival at John Schneider's Studio, alongside such artists as Kid Rock and Tom Wopat from Dukes of Hazzard. He has received radio airplay from Italy Radio 6.75 for his single “Hot Southern Night”. Todd Barrow just released his latest single, “Girl Like You,” written about love during COVID-19! Todd is a proud member of the Harry Fox Agency, the Country Music Association, the International Singer-Songwriters Association, the Texas Music Office, BMI, the Fort Worth Songwriters Association, American Music Podcasting, the NSAIDFW Songwriters Association, the Dallas Songwriters Association, the British Country Music Association and the Bayou Country Music Association.Email:Toddwaynebarrow@yahoo.com Phone: 817-983-4168Website: http://www.ToddBarrowMusic.comFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/ToddBarrowMusic Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/ToddBarrowMusicInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/ToddBarrowMusic1YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/c/ToddBarrow See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Country singer Kacey Musgraves is well-known in New Zealand, but it’s hard to grasp just how huge she is in the country-loving US.She’s won six Grammys, and this year became the first female solo artist to win Best Country Album twice, as well as winning the Best Album for Golden Hour. However, she’s not your average gun-toting, Trump-loving country star. Her latest album has a song for LGBT youth and she’s certainly not a card-carrying Republican. That variety has made her globally appealing, and she has made a flying visit to Auckland for a one-off show at the Town Hall. She told Jack Tame that there seem to be a lot of music lovers here that seem open to country music. “It seems like there is a  nice young pop culture here that seems to be interested in bringing different kinds of music here.”Musgraves says that finding down-time when on time can be difficult, but has enjoyed some free-time in Auckland, including riding a horse down Piha Beach. She has become in hot demand since her Grammy wins earlier this year. Musgraves says that she was stunned that Golden Hour got nominated, but believes that it deserved mainstream recognition outside of the country music label."I think that it's an album that, in my heart, we all kind of need right now in terms of getting away from a lot of the negativity of a lot of what's going on in the modern landscape." Musgraves says that there has always been a divide between country and other genres, but that those genre lines are becoming increasingly blurred. "That's a great thing about modern music, that it can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people." When it comes to politics, Musgraves says she tries to avoid being a lobbyist for anything, only when an issue goes beyond being a political issue. "I think that, at that point, it is a privilege to have a platform, and I'm not saying everyone has to agree with me, but I have been put into a position where I'm allowed to speak my opinion."She says that people tend to value celebrities speaking out until their opinions go against their own beliefs. Musgraves argues that music and art has long been influenced and a reflection of the political world. "They've always been hand in hand. You never hear any art or watch any movies that isn't in some way reflect of our state."

Kacey Musgrave, the 30-year-old country singer from a town called Golden in Texas is in a golden period right now. Fittingly, it's with her fourth album called Golden hour. She has just swept the Grammy Awards with the album winning Best Country Album and two of her singles winning the Gramaphones as well. What was really impressive is that she also won the Grammy for overall Album of the Year. However, New Zealand's strange aversion to country music continues. This album has been the biggest thing for a year now and yet not here. I went down to the music stations here and no one is playing her.But that's a pity! Atmospheric, light, poppy and distinctly dance-y in places, it's country music but not as you know it, and slow burn is possibly my favourite song of this summer. Even though it was almost released last summer. A delightful fresh album.  8/10

Suicide is Never Funny Unless You’re Dead.   I wrote this. I wrote this in chalk on the pavement outside the church at the end of my street. I started at the front door of the church and I worked my around the block. I didn’t know how much chalk I would need so I took a whole bucket with me. I’m not stupid. This is the first lie I have told in this poem. I’m writing this. I’m in present tense now. I’m intensely present now. My script is cursive and considerate across the sidewalk down Rucker’s Hill towards Merri Creek.   I’m writing a letter asking the author to respond. There is so much to be explained. My flow is slow but steady. The air is cold and as sharp as a box. I like this weather. It reminds me of red lampshades, warm kitchens and the comfort in being sad. I’m writing all this from the front door of the church at the end of my street and I’ll go as long as I have to. I have many questions but I have never enjoyed the closing credits of answers. While writing this letter on the footpath I pass many mailboxes. At each mailbox I pause to feel if the heat of a love letter is burning inside. I hold out my hands at a safe distance and feel… nothing. Nobody writes love letters anymore. I remember a letter I wrote once to which I have received no response. A high school crush. Her name was blank blank. It was the last day of high school and it was a now or never situation. I cut my heart out and squeezed it all over the page like a red lemon. Email would have been easier but we didn’t have it in those days. I gave the letter to a friend and asked him to place it in her hand because I knew if I attempted such a thing, I would surely catch fire. She has never responded. But I remain hopeful. When Nick Cave sings ‘Bukowski was a jerk! Berryman was best!’ he’s referring to the two American poets, Charles Bukowski and John Berryman. In 1972 Berryman jumped off a Minneapolis bridge to look at life from a completely different angle. He missed the water, landed in the mud and died from slow suffocation. Take note from this and always check your flight path in advance. The mud sucked the life out of him through underground tunnels and drew it all back into the core of the earth. Suicide is never funny unless you’re dead. And then the core of the earth is a wonderful place to laugh, sit on a box and warm your hands in front of the eternal pile of burning love letters. I’m writing all this on the pavement from the front door of the church around my block and now it’s taken me to the Westgarth Bridge under which I stand. I’ve written several more lies in this poem now but they’re all wearing tuxedos and have the best intentions. I come across Berryman and Bukowski, two serial liars like me, standing under the bridge. I think they live there. I think they’re friends now. I think maybe they haven’t been accepted at the campfire circle surrounding the burning love letters in the core of the earth. And that’s why they’re hanging out in my neighbourhood. I call upon the authors to explain. Bukowski just waltzes over and simply pisses on my chalk written letter on the pavement. This somewhat dilutes the intensity of my presence. Berryman looks at me and says “I feel like getting confessional. I’m scared, but I’m willing. I’m sure this is a preposterous attitude, but I’m not ashamed of it.” By the time I finish writing his quote I’m a block away from them. I look up, I’ve gone full circle. I’m outside my door. I stand beside my letterbox.   I’m intensely present. I hold out my hands, in search of the heat. There’s something coming off the letterbox, like a tiny slow burning star. I reach for the envelope and I’m dizzy with the possibilities of it all. Is it her?   Sean and Ben chat about the benefits of staying busy to stop yourself from going crazy. They talk about Ben's process of songwriting and his constant muse, a beautiful golden retriever called Bea. See the More Than A Whelan Instagram or the More Than A Whelan Facebook page to see a photo of Ben's four legged co-writer. Ben performs a piece of micro fiction inspired by the creative prompt 'Pomade' by Kim Jeffs. And then inspired by the creative prompt 'Silent Songs' by Ian Gostelow, Ben performs an original song especially written for More Than A Whelan. Finally Ben Mastwyk honours MTAW with one more original composition! Inspired by the prompt Love Spy, supplied by a previous guest on MTAW, Malcolm Hill. Thank you so much to our Muses of the Week and their creative prompts for Episode 22, Kim Jeffs (Pomade), Ian Gostelow (Silent Songs) and Malcolm Hill ( Love Spy). Finally Sean closes the show with a poem inspired by the prompt Confession Booth for Dogs by regular prompt contributor George Dunford. Thank you George for being our final Muse of The Week for Season 1! Confession Booth For Dogs (inspired by MTAW Muse of the Week George Dunford) They line up around the block. To get it off their shoulders. That heavy heavy burden. The crimes are plenty. From dry humping the neighbours cat into a state of trauma, to rolling around in shit in the backyard and then spreading out and sleeping on the good couch, to digging that hole in the back fence to freedom and then once having escaped realising that at home you get fed every day so you come back in a few hours while everybody has been trawling the neighbourhood for you and you’re like ‘what’s up guys, you miss me?’ At the Confession Booth For Dogs they enter one by one and address the shadowy figure behind the screen. Every breed, every size. I’m no scientist but to the best of my knowledge dogs are the only animals that exhibit shame. Think about that moment. When you come home to find that Charlie the cocker spaniel has managed to tip the bin over and spread its entire contents throughout the whole house. You turn to him to say ‘what the fuck Charlie?’ But he already knows he’s in trouble. His chin is touching the floor. And his little chocolate eyes are rolled up to you. And his whole face reeks of shame and he pleads you to forgive him. It will never happen again, his face says to you. And who can stay mad at that face. When I was a kid we had a dog called Max. He hated wheels. Not me. He loved me. He hated actual wheels. He especially hated the wheels on the lawnmower, but even more problematic was that he hated the wheels on cars and when he escaped, which was often, he would chase cars and try to nip at their tyres. One of his sins that a typical dog might go to confession for was that he would dig up the garden all the time which drove my parents crazy. So when I got home from school one night and I entered the back gate and Max’s face was dripping with shame I knew he had done something wrong and I assumed he had gotten into the garden again, so I walked around trying to find where, he meekly followed me, head as low as it can get. But I couldn’t find any evidence of garden destruction. We had stopped by the Hills Hoist clothes line. And I turned to Max and I said ‘what did you do?’ And it was only then I noticed that all this time his mouth had been firmly closed. He looked up at me, slowly opened his mouth and suddenly a bird flew out of his mouth. And even though it was covered with dog spit. It somehow managed to still take flight and disappeared over the fence. Stunned I looked back to Max. He looked back at me. And I heard his inner thoughts saying ‘I finally caught a bird with my mouth, but once it was in there, I just didn’t know what to do with it.”

Buddy Greene: Virtuoso Harmonica, Gaither Sideman, and Co-Writer of “Mary, Did You Know”   Over the last 30 years, Buddy Greene has performed across America, made numerous trips abroad, and established himself as a predominantly independent recording artist. In 1991 he won the Gospel Music Association’s Dove award for Best Country Album, and has received 9 other Dove award nominations. Through his long association with the Gaithers, he has become a favorite gospel performer, often appearing on the Gaither’s popular Homecoming video series, and recently featured in a Best of Buddy Greene DVD retrospective.   Buddy has also made his mark as a songwriter. Besides the many self-penned songs of his own recordings, he co-wrote (along with Mark Lowry) the modern Christmas classic “Mary, Did You Know,” recorded by a host of major artists, including Kathy Mattea, Kenny Rogers and Wynonna, Natalie Cole, Clay Aiken, CeeLo Green, Rascal Flatts, Mary J Blige, and Pentatonix. Other songs of Buddy’s covered by major artists include “Recovering Pharisee” by Del McCoury, “Fall Down, Children” by The Whites, and “He Is”, a number one for gospel artist Ashley Cleveland.   Throughout his career, Buddy has steadily advanced as a harmonica player. He has played on the recordings of many outstanding artists, including Jerry Reed, the Gaithers, Riders in the Sky, Charlie Peacock, Bela Fleck, The Ojays, Sara Groves, Keith and Kristyn Getty, Sandi Patty, and Larnelle Harris, just to name a few. After hearing Buddy’s 2002 release “RUFUS”, legendary folk icon Doc Watson invited Buddy to join him onstage at the prestigious MerleFest roots music festival in 2003 and subsequent years. In 2009 he joined an auspicious lineup of Nashville virtuosos to help jazz bass legend Charlie Haden celebrate his country roots in the Grammy nominated recording and video project Rambling Boy.    Other milestones in Buddy’s career include performing at numerous Billy Graham crusades, especially the 1992 New York Crusade before a crowd of 250,000 in Central Park, and his performance of the “William Tell Overture” at Carnegie Hall, captured live on a Bill Gaither Homecoming video and subsequently posted on YouTube, has been viewed by millions.   In this episode, John Chisum sits down with his long-time friend to reminisce, talk about songwriting as part of Buddy’s amazing career, and to share some of the songs from Buddy’s newest recording “Looking Back” available now at buddygreene.com and soon at all major music outlets.   For more information check out nashvillechristiansongwriters.com.

"Wild One," the first single from her 1993 debut album, reached No. 1 on the country music chart. She's won Grammy Awards for Best Country Album and Best Country Female Vocal Performance. She married Tim McGraw in 1996 and they performed together on the Soul2Soul Tour, the highest grossing country music tour ever. Tim McGraw Born on May 1, 1967 (though some sources say 1966), in Delhi, Louisiana, Tim McGraw was one of the most popular "Young Country" stars to emerge in the 1990s. After the release of his second album in 1994, McGraw quickly began to top charts and pack arenas. With his high-pitched, rather growly voice, he became known for his ability to stir up a range of emotions with everything from jumping dance tunes to heartfelt ballads. As he remarked to David Zimmerman in USA Today, "There's a lot of people who can pick up a guitar and sing you a great song, but there's very few people that can tell you how they feel. That's the main purpose of acting or doing an opera or painting or anything. It's to tell somebody how you feel and more importantly, tell them how they feel." How They Met 1996 saw the successful Spontaneous Combustion tour, which featured country singer Faith Hill as the opening act. By the end of the tour, McGraw's personal life was sizzling as well, and he asked Hill, to marry him. They were on tour at the time in Montana, and he popped the question in his dressing room, which was housed in a trailer. He later reminisced about the event in an interview with People magazine: "She said, 'I can't believe you're asking me to marry you in a trailer house,' and I said, 'Well, we're country singers, what do you expect?'" Hill later accepted McGraw's proposal by writing "yes" on a mirror in his trailer while he was on stage, and the couple married on October 6, 1996. Their first daughter, Gracie, was born in 1997, second daughter, Maggie, was born the following year, and youngest daughter Audrey was born in 2001. Tim McGraw has also branched out into acting. He appeared in the 2004 feature film Black Cloud directed by Rick Schroder and the 2006 family drama Flicka. In a supporting role, McGraw also worked with Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner in 2007's The Kingdom. Taking on a sports drama, he starred opposite Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side (2009). McGraw played a character closer to his real-life in Country Strong (2010) starring Gwyneth Paltrow. More recently McGraw starred in the movie The Shack. Together Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are country music royalty and the new benchmark for successful celebrity relationships. Learn more about the Soul2Soul tour and Showtime special here. From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America's musical landscape than Charlie Daniels. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 79, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need. Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys. After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin' Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing on the Youngbloods' Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind. His own unique voice as an artist emerged as Charlie recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records. Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band and the group scored its first hit with the top ten “Uneasy Rider.” Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South's Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards. The CDB will perform 100 concert dates this year including performances on the Grand Ole Opry. The band's latest release, "Off the Grid - Doin' It Dylan," features 10 Bob Dylan songs by the CDB, and is their first CDB studio release since 2007. “I love what I do,” says Charlie of his 50-plus years in the music business. “I look forward to entertaining people. When show time gets here, I'm ready to go, ready to go play for them. It's a labor of love. I just thank God I make a living at what I enjoy doing.”-2- Whether performing in the hit 80s movie Urban Cowboy, singing on Easter Sunday at his local church or leading an all-star cast at one of his famed Volunteer Jams, Charlie just exudes joy whenever he steps on stage and he's always been quick to provide a platform for other artists to shine. In 1974 he invited some friends to join him at Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium for an all-star concert he dubbed The Volunteer Jam. The event continued for years and was broadcast in the U.S. and internationally. Over the years, the Jam featured a diverse line up that included Willie Nelson, Ted Nugent, Roy Acuff, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Crystal Gayle, James Brown, Emmylou Harris, Amy Grant, George Thorogood, Kris Kristofferson, Little Richard, Tammy Wynette, Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys, B. B. King and the Allman Brothers. As diverse as his live shows have always been, his discography has also reflected Charlie's love of multiple genres. In 1994 he released his first Christian album, The Door, on Sparrow Records. The album won the Gospel Music Association's Dove Award for Best Country Album and “Two Out of Three” was named video of the year by the Christian Country Music Association. In 1997, Sony Wonder released Charlie's first children's album, “By The Light of The Moon: Campfire Songs and Cowboy Tunes'. An astute businessman as well as talented musician, Charlie launched Blue Hat Records in 1997 with his longtime personal manager David Corlew. Over the past 15 years, the label has released such memorable albums as Blues Hat, Tailgate Party, Road Dogs, Fiddle Fire: 25 Years of the Charlie Daniels Band and his first bluegrass album 2005's Songs From the Longleaf Pines and 2007's album Deuces, featuring duets with Brad Paisley, Gretchen Wilson, Bonnie Bramlett, Travis Tritt, Dolly Parton, Vince Gill,...

Jamie Floyd is a West Palm Beach, Florida native who grew up in a musical family where she had the opportunity to perform as an opening act for Rascal Flatts, James Taylor, and others. By the age of 11 she’d signed her first production and publishing deals, eventually relocating to Nashville where she found success writing for other artists. She’s best known as the co-writer of “the Blade,” which became the title track to Ashley Monroe’s 2015 album and was named one of the top songs of the year by NPR Music. Co-produced by Vince Gill and featuring a guest appearance by Miranda Lambert, the song became the album’s centerpiece and helped earn the project a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album of the Year. Others who’ve recorded Floyd’s songs include former Brooks & Dunn front man Ronnie Dunn, who featured the song “Once” on his debut solo album, which went to the #1 spot on the Billboard country chart in 2011. Jamie’s song “Trouble Get Me Off Your Mind” was performed by R&B powerhouse Brian McKnight in Dolly Parton’s 2013 TV film A Country Christmas Story, while Hayden Panettiere’s character, Juliette Barnes, performed Jamie’s “Mississippi Flood” on the hit ABC television series Nashville. Floyd’s songs have also been heard on MTV’s Finding Carter, Lifetime’s The Client List, the CW Network’s Beauty & the Beast, and the Lifetime original movie, Manson’s Lost Girls. The SESAC honoree has enjoyed her cross-genre success by writing songs by day and waiting tables by night. The hard-working dual-career up-and-comer is a model for what it takes to carve out a space in Nashville’s increasingly competitive musical landscape. With her recent Sunshine & Rainbows EP attracting new fans and increased industry attention, Jamie Floyd is one to watch!

Singer-songwriter Brandy Clark’s 2013 debut album 12 Stories landed on the year end “best of” lists ofRolling Stone, NPR, American Songwriter, and New York magazine before earning her a nomination for Best Country Album and Best New Artist (in any genre) at the 2015 Grammy awards. Clark’s meticulously crafted “drinking and thinking” songs, as she described them to “All Things Considered,” reflect a new brand of progressively-minded traditional country that has been enthusiastically embraced by both the honky-tonk crowd and public radio audiences. Before stepping into the spotlight as an artist, however, Clark put in more than a decade as a hard-working Nashville-based tunesmith whose songs were recorded by Toby Keith, Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Darius Rucker, Gretchen Wilson, Keith Urban, and Sheryl Crow. She co-wrote the Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two,” which hit #1 in early 2013. That same year, she was nominated for a CMA, AMA, and Grammy award for co-writing Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart.” She won Song of the Year at the 2014 CMA awards for “Follow Your Arrow,” which she co-wrote with Shane McAnally and artist Kacey Musgraves. Her next album will be released by Warner Bros. Records, which signed her to their Los Angeles division in late 2014.
