Author, Cole Brown takes us through his journey in "Greyboy: Finding Blackness in a White World", where he is met at an intersection of others expectations of "blackness" versus how he views himself.
Cole Brown grew up in Philadelphia with the benefits of successful parents: summer vacations, private school, and all sorts of opportunities. But his upbringing, in what was considered a “white space,” left him wrestling with the feeling of being in-between. It wasn’t until his college years when he began to unpack how it shaped his worldview, and in his debut collection of essays, he explores parenting, friendship, police brutality, and eventually living under the Donald Trump presidency. Cole currently lives in Sydney, Australia, where he is a news reporter.BUY Cole’s Book Here: https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Greyboy/Cole-Brown/9781510761889Executive Producer: Adell ColemanProducer: Brittany TempleDistributor: DCP EntertainmentFor additional content: makeitplain.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Imagine being born into the rarely talked about world of the Black elite. Living in the best neighborhood, going to the most prestigious schools and hitting the tony beaches of the Bahamas or Martha’s Vineyard during vacations. But for Cole Brown, 24-year old author and Georgetown graduate, the spaces in which he grew up were primarily white, while the groups in which he felt at home, were mostly Black, leaving him to wonder, where did he fit in? But what would you do if you spent your life looking for “your kind of people” only to find that over and over again you were the only one everywhere you went? Would you try and alter yourself so that you could blend in with every crowd? Or would you write a book and talk about what it's really like to seek out Blackness in a white world? So often we think God should do what we want, when we want it. And when He doesn't come through like we thought, we get angry. But God's true promise to us is not that He will always fix the situation, but that He will be WITH us through it.
When it comes to reaching others for Jesus, we all need help. One of the best ways to do it is shown in a story of a group of guys bringing their friend to Jesus. We will see what that story says for us today.
