On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen discuss Wednesday's contest against the Blackfalds Bulldogs, and look ahead to the weekend set against the Brooks Bandits and Fort McMurray Oil Barons. After a closer-than-it-seemed 3-0 shutout loss against Bonnyville, Sherwood Park looked to rebound against Blackfalds. Unfortunately, a similar story as a three goal third period from the Bulldogs propelled them to a 4-0 decision. Dawson had a chance to speak with Crusaders head coach and assistant general manager Jeff Woywitka (9:22) on the recent scoring struggles and what needs to change. All the action can be found on HockeyTV, or grab a ticket to support your team, puck drop is at 7:15 p.m. at the Randy Rosen Rink and 7:30 p.m. in Fort McMurray on Saturday.
On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen look back on the weekend split against the Brooks Bandits and Drumheller Dragons, and preview the third matchup in as many weeks against the Lloydminster Bobcats. Looking to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to the very same Bobcats, the Crusaders went into Brooks to take on the Bandits. With a three goal first period, goals coming from Dario Beljo, Aiden Fink and Hunter Wallace, the Bandits rode that wave to a 6-0 win. The very next night, the Cru headed to Drumheller, and had a much better result. Ashton McNelly opened the scoring with a nifty drop pass from Zac Maxwell, Myles Hilman tied things up 50 seconds into the second, but goals from Cale Ashcroft and Bruce MacGregor plus an empty netter from Bode Hagan sealed a 4-1 victory of their own. Marek Pocherewny was outstanding, making 32 saves. Dawson also had a chance to speak with forward Carter Chorney ahead of the weekend, to discuss his game since joing the team and how they need to get back on top of Lloydminster. Tune in to HockeyTV for all the action tonight at the Centennial Civic Centre in Lloydminster, or head over to Average Joes to catch the game, puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen look back on a tough loss to the Lloydminster Bobcats, and look ahead to the weekend's matchups against the Brooks Bandits and Drumheller Dragons. With Lloydminster looking for revenge after a close 3-2 decision just the week before, the Bobcats came out swinging. Matthew Swanson had the lone goal of the first, but Mack Stewart and former Crusader Tanner Fincaryck found the back of the net to give themselves a 3-0 lead heading into the 3rd. Sherwood Park got 33 shots the way of Kolby Thornton, and all but one was stopped as Carter Chorney broke the shutout bid with 57 seconds left in regulation. The Bobcats would add an empty netter to take a 4-1 decision. Dawson also had a chance to speak with defenceman Caelum Dick and forward Logan Hauer ahead of the weekend, to discuss how the team has been gelling as of late and how they can get back on track. Tune in to HockeyTV for all the action tonight at the Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks, or head over to Average Joes to catch the game, puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
On this episode of Crusaders Pre-Game, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen recap Sherwood Park's performance at the AJHL Showcase, and look ahead to their next matchup against the Lloydminster Bobcats. The Crusaders had their work cut out for them in Saturday's matchup against the host Brooks Bandits, and eventually fell short by a score of 4-2. Evan Arnold got himself on the scoresheet, and Gus Bylin made 33 saves, but the Bandits proved to be too much. However, the team bounced back on Sunday against the Drumheller Dragons, taking a comeback 5-4 win in the shootout. Dawson had a chance to speak with forward Zac Maxwell, who got his first two on the season in the affair, to catch up and get a closer look at the past weekend. Dawson also spoke with coach and general manager Adam Manah on how the team is shaping up a month into the season, and how he would like to see it moving forward The Crusaders continue their eight-game road trip into Lloydminster against the Bobcats and hope to build on their successes from the Showcase.
Welcome to the inaugural podcast edition of Coffee With The Cru hosted by Brenden Escott & Zach Marks. Brenden breaks down this past weekends action versus the Brooks Bandits and also spoke with forward Blake Sydlowski and defenceman Brandon McCartney.

This week I have another great local athlete on the show. Not everyone can say they have a small shrine dedicated to them in their hometown’s arena. But this week’s guest can say that. Max Coyle has had a very interesting journey to get where he is. And with the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers shutting its men's hockey program down late last week, things have gotten a lot more complicated for the Tillsonburg resident. After finishing up his minor hockey in Brantford with the 99ers, he played one season with the Woodstock Navy Vets, before earning a spot on the Listowel Cyclones, where he spent three seasons. In his final GOJHL season, he and his teammates captured the Sutherland Cup. The next season, Max headed west and was a champion again, this time capturing the BCHL’s Fred Page Cup with the Prince George Spruce Kings, and coming very close to an RBC Cup title, losing to the Brooks Bandits in the final. And this year, Max completed his freshman season with the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers. And as you will hear, Max’s journey isn’t over yet. Thanks for listening!
