Simon Donnelly needs no introduction to Celtic fans and he joins Milish for a chat on the Celtic Soul Podcast as the bhoys preview this Sunday's big game when Celtic take on the rangers at Celtic Park. Both bhoys will be inside Celtic Park for kick off . Simon will be on media duties with Celtic TV and Milish will be watching with his mates from the main stand.During the conversation Simon draws comparisons with the team that stopped Rangers winning 10IAR and the current Celtic team. Both Wim Jansen and Ange Postecoglou arrived at Celtic Park from Japan with little known about them in coaching terms, both had to bring plenty of new blood into the squads. In 1997 iconic manager Tommy Burns left and Captain Paul McStay retired after failing to stop Rangers doing 9IAR. Both are Celtic Legends and are still very much in the hearts of all Celtic fans who witnessed their loyalty and love of Celtic Another pair of Celtic Legends Neil Lennon and Scott Brown both moved on after failing to win the 10IAR last season. Like Wim, Ange introduced a new captain with a history at the club and brought in his own players and is now in the driving seat to repeat the double won by Wim Jansen and his all conquering team who stopped the 10. Some of the players Wim introduced included player of year Craig Burley, Champions League winner, Paul Lambert, Marc Rieper and the Magnificent 7, Henrik Larsson who Simon played upfront with and he shares how that partnership came about.

Before we get into the book chat, Ally recalls his memories of the late Bertie Auld and the laughs they shared during Ally's stint at Celtic TV in the mid noughties. Bertie enjoyed taunting Ally about the many defeats the Dons had to Celtic in that era. Onto more memorable times as an Aberdeen fan, Ally discusses the process into how the book idea came about, including a gentle nudge from wife Miriam, and the work involved in writing the chapters. He particularly goes into detail about interviewing opposition players like Johnny Metgod of Real Madrid and how great they were with their accounts from an opponents point of view, which gives the book a nice twist. Then of course, there's the stories from the players Ally grew up idolising and meeting them at the book launch, and he also had a few words of encouragement for future authors. Ally then discusses his work with the Big Saturday Football Show on the Bauer network with Steven Mill and Ewen Cameron. He admits to being hesitant about the idea at first but now is enjoying it as much as anything he's ever done in his professional career with the banter shared between the three and Steven Cowan. We then round off with some quick fire questions from the SFF Podcast team and messages from three ex-Dons, finished off with Ally being asked to make three changes to his all time best Dons XI. Ange Postecoglou First Interview   Celtic have today appointed Ange Postecoglou as the new manager of the club and we have the audio from his first interview.  Interstingly in the chat that follows with Dom McKay, he once again mentions modernisation.   It seems to be his theme and listeners to the last podcast will know we heartily agree.   Dominic McKay: Ange is an outstanding leader and an outstanding manager   Dominic McKay is delighted that Celtic have appointed an experienced manager who knows what it takes to win, and he believes that Ange Postecoglou's vision for the future of the Club aligns with his own. In an exclusive interview with Celtic TV, the Club's incoming Chief Executive, who officially takes over on July 1, explained why the Australian manager is the right fit for the Club, and explained that he has already started working with the new Celtic manager to pave the way for future success. “I'm delighted that we've managed to secure Ange as the new manager of Celtic Football Club,” said Dominic McKay. “Ange is an outstanding leader and an outstanding manager. “In all my discussions with him to date, I've been really impressed by his enthusiasm for Celtic, and his keenness to work with me to modernise and develop the footballing structures and the non-footballing structures to make sure we are the successful club that we need to be for the generation ahead. “His experience at the international level, having taken Australia to World Cups is hugely impressive, as is his experience of winning both in Australia and Japan, so I'm excited about securing a winning manager and in securing someone who wants to drive forward the club in a way that I think everyone will be really proud about. “We've spent a lot of time chatting through the playing side, the coaching side and the footballing operations side. “It would be fair to say his phone's been busy over the last number of weeks and I'm excited that we're getting information across to him to make decisions and get feedback on all the various aspects you would expect us to be considering ahead of the new season. “We've been talking about recruitment in particular and the plans for the season ahead, so we're very active in that regard. There are some important fixtures coming up so we need to make sure the team is in the best shape it can be, and I'm sure Ange will share more information with the Celtic support as soon as he can.” Dominic McKay also shed light on how his own vision for delivering success to the club aligns with Ange Postecoglou's ambitions. “We have a shared vision and that was very important to me to make sure we had a new manager who bought into the modernising, evolution and development of the club, both on and off the field,” the new Celtic CEO said. “In terms of his style of play, I think he will excite the fans. In terms of his communication, I think he will be great in engaging with supporters and, importantly, his philosophy, which is borne out of his experience at international level going through World Cups but also in winning competitions. I wanted a winner and I'm delighted that we've managed to secure Ange.”

In the second of Good John's interview's this week, he is joined by fellow Aberdeen fan and former model, pop star, MUTV and Celtic TV presenter and ESPN Singapore and BEIN Sports Producer Ally Begg. We began the podcast by speaking about the Coronavirus pandemic and how he's been affected, which led to redundancy at BEIN and has now relocated to Salzburg, Austria, and his plans for the future. Ally grew up supporting the Dons during their most enjoyable period of the early 1980's. He talks about Pittodrie's greatest night against Bayern Munich in 1983 and the trip to Gothenburg to see Aberdeen defeat Real Madrid in the European Cup Winners Cup Final. He was lucky enough to go to Pittodrie the following day to see the team bring home the trophy. After being let go by the club following a spell with the Boys Club, Ally pursued a modelling career after a reference from his hairdresser. This led to him being snapped up by a music producer to form one part of the boy band Bad Boys Inc, whom he was with for three years. Ally is very honest about how the novelty of attention wore off and becoming unhappy with life as a pop star, leading to him leaving in 1995. Shortly afterwards, Ally was subject to abuse from Dundee fans at the 1995 League Cup Final and he explains how his anger came out after Duncan Shearer scored the second goal. This, he described, as the biggest turning point in his life. He moved onto Television presenting at Granada Shopping, and this led to presenting roles at MUTV and Celtic TV. Ally then left the UK in 2007 to join ESPN in Singapore before moving onto Bein Sports in Qatar as a Producer, a role he feels more comfortable in. Ally has also been blogging about Aberdeen in his spare time, interviewing a range of former players from legends like Willie Miller to players who divided opinion like John Inglis. He talks openly about his future plans for the blog and a podcast once the pandemic passes. Even though I had love for the music, I had no idea that I would also find a love for the autoharp.  Almost instantly I bought one and began online zoom lessons and although the first month or so has been difficult, my autoharp and I are now in the honeymoon phase and we are both falling in love with each other daily.  Thank you for inspiring me to take this on.  Your tune "Don't Go Drinking with Hobbits" is one of the first real songs that I am working on and I love singing and playing it.  Being a Tolkien fan, I can't wait to hear your new Hobbit songs.  Thanks for all the work that you do.  Take care.  Howard"

Series 8 Episode 42 featured a tribute to the late Lisbon Lions duo Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers, who lost their lives to dementia. As part of the tribute, we spoke to Aberdeen fan and former Celtic TV presenter Ally Begg, and former Celtic midfielder Billy Stark. Now you can hear the interviews in full and unedited. Begg recalls the sound advice McNeill gave him during his time at Celtic TV, in particular how to better himself in the face of hate mail. He also recalls McNeill's legacy at Aberdeen and just how fond he was of the great man and the respect McNeill showed him, even if he did call him "Sheepie." We spoke to Billy Stark on the same day of Chalmers passing. He recalled how good a striker, and how good a person, Chalmers was and both his and McNeill's roles in Celtic's great 1967 side. However, it was mainly Stark's time as a player and the impact Billy McNeill had as a manager during the Centenary year, where Celtic won the Double. We hope you enjoy listening to their memories to two legends from the Lisbon Lions Era. Tweet us @sffpodcastFacebook - Scottish Football ForumsInstagram - sffpodcast

We're one John down this week but Krys is back. We start off with a special tribute to Lisbon Lions Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers, who lost their lives to dementia this week. The tribute features interviews with former Celtic player Billy Stark and Broadcaster Ally Begg, who was a presenter on Celtic TV. The topic moves nicely onto Premiership action and it was fitting that Celtic's No.5 scored the only goal of the game on 67 minutes to claim victory over Kilmarnock, which takes them to within a point of the title. Rangers clinched second with an easy win at home to Aberdeen, whilst the Edinburgh derby ended in a 1-1 draw. At the bottom, Dundee look doomed after a last minute loss to Motherwell, whilst both St Mirren and Hamilton snatched late draws to move them closer to safety, though one will end up in the Premiership playoffs. Ross County sealed Championship promotion in style, Falkirk need a minor miracle to avoid dropping out of the Division whilst Queen of the South, Alloa and Partick Thistle are still fighting to avoid the bottom two places. In League One, Montrose kept their ambitions of back-to-back promotions alive by securing a playoff place. It's a straight shootout between Brechin and Stenhousemuir to avoid automatic relegation, Barry Smith's side need a win or they will suffer consecutive relegations. Peterhead missed out on clinching League Two by conceding a 93rd minute goal to Stirling Albion, whilst Clyde kept up their slim chances of clinching the title with victory over Queens Park. Albion Rovers completed the great escape with an emphatic win over Berwick Rangers, who are consigned to the playoff to avoid dropping out of the SPFL set up. They are likely to face Cove Rangers, who won 2-1 in East Kilbride in the first leg of the League Two playoff. Tweet us @sffpodcastFacebook - Scottish Football ForumsInstagram - sffpodcast
