During a dynamic presentation, Sean V. Bradley, the “Millionaire Car Salesman,” delved into emerging forms of communication designed to elevate dealership performance. This article encapsulates the key insights and provides a deep dive into the transformative potential of these strategies. Key Takeaways Speed to Lead: Utilizing advanced tools, especially AI, can ensure faster response times, increasing conversion rates significantly. Diverse Communication Mediums: Incorporating unconventional methods such as memes, GIFs, and video emails can stand out in the crowded marketplace. Technological Integration: Effective use of AI and automation streamlines processes, allowing for higher engagement without compromising personal touch.   Harnessing the Power of Conversational AI for Instant Engagement SEO Optimized Heading: The Impact of AI on Engagement and Conversion In the modern digital age, AI's role in customer communication is both revolutionary and essential. Sean Bradley emphasized the profound impact that conversational AI can have on engagement. He cited extensive data from Podium, demonstrating AI's brisk response capabilities. Bradley shared, “somebody just types in, hey, I'm looking for a black f 150. And bam. Within a minute. Something this detailed, this professional specific is done by artificial intelligence.” Artificial intelligence in dealership operations serves more than just an operational role; it becomes part of the sales strategy. By providing instant responses that are detailed and professional, AI frees up human resources to focus on more complex tasks, hence improving overall efficiency. AI tools process large data sets to generate precise and informative replies, meeting customer inquiries with unprecedented speed. Bradley noted, “AI enables machines to learn from experience and adapt to new inputs by analyzing large amounts of data and identifying patterns.” Embracing AI doesn't mean sidelining the human touch but augmenting it. AI can act as an "army of you," handling numerous inquiries simultaneously, thus ensuring no potential lead slips through the cracks.   Diversifying Communication Channels: Beyond Traditional Methods SEO Optimized Heading: Unconventional Communication Channels that Engage Exploring beyond traditional calls and emails, Bradley advocated for a diverse communication arsenal, including memes, GIFs, video emails, and even personalized text messages. These approaches cater to the ways modern consumers interact daily. Bradley acknowledged the challenge of gaining prospects' attention amid various dealership communications vying for their response. “The average dealership is not using Apple FaceTimes or memes or cash app or Venmo or animated gifs or things like that,” he remarked. This diversity is key to cutting through the noise and capturing consumers' interest through unexpected channels. For instance, incorporating memes can infuse humor into interactions, breaking the monotony of typical sales communications. An example shared was: “I have a very special set of skills to help you buy a brand new car.” Similarly, GIFs, with their visual and animated appeal, serve as an engaging way to relay messages and establish rapport, as seen with the Giphy.com resources Bradley recommended.   The Transformative Potential of Video Communication SEO Optimized Heading: Utilizing Video Emails and Calls for Higher Engagement In an era where visual content reigns supreme, Bradley underscored video communication's potency. Video emails, for instance, can significantly boost engagement rates. He mentioned, “video email increases read open rates up to 300%… once you've engaged, use video 100% of the time after engagement.” Video communication allows dealers to present a more personal touch, making interactions more memorable. By using video for appointment confirmations and follow-ups, dealerships can enhance the customer experience, making it more engaging and trustworthy. Bradley demonstrated this through examples of video email templates integrated into CRMs, showcasing their ease of use and impact. Moreover, leveraging Apple FaceTime, Skype, or Google Duo for live interactions offers a dynamic way to engage with prospects. Bradley justified this strategy, “People are not expecting to be FaceTimed or Skyped by a car salesman… you're really catching people way off guard.” This element of surprise can increase response rates and foster a more immediate connection.   Continuing Innovation and Personalized Customer Engagement Bradley's presentation highlighted the necessity of evolving beyond standard practices to thrive in automotive sales. By integrating AI for efficiency, leveraging diverse and unconventional communication mediums, and capitalizing on video technology's intimate appeal, dealerships can set themselves apart in a crowded market. The focus remains on engagement and conversion, with the primary goal being to create an enriched, responsive, and customer-centric sales environment. As Bradley articulated, “if you want the things that the average person doesn't have, you've got to be willing to do the things the average person isn't willing to do.” Incorporating these innovative strategies ensures dealerships not only stay abreast of technological advancements but also continually exceed customer expectations, driving sustained growth and success.

EA - Should we break up Google DeepMind? by Hauke Hillebrandt

The Nonlinear Library

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Should we break up Google DeepMind?, published by Hauke Hillebrandt on April 23, 2024 on The Effective Altruism Forum. Regulators should review the 2014 DeepMind acquisition. When Google bought DeepMind in 2014, no regulator, not the FTC, not the EC's DG COMP, nor the CMA, scrutinized the impact. Why? AI startups have high value but low revenues. And so they avoid regulation (and tax, see below). Buying start-ups with low revenues flies under the thresholds of EU merger regulation[1] or the CMA's 'turnover test' (despite it being a 'relevant enterprise' under the National Security and Investment Act). In 2020, the FTC ordered Big Tech to provide info on M&A from 2010-2019 that it didn't report (UK regulators should urgently do so as well given that their retrospective powers might only be 10 years).[2] Regulators should also review the 2023 Google-DeepMind internal merger. DeepMind and Google Brain are key players in AI. In 2023, they merged into Google DeepMind. This compromises independence, reduces competition for AI talent and resources, and limits alternatives for collaboration partners. Though they are both part of Google, regulators can scrutinize this, regardless of corporate structure. For instance, UK regulators have intervened in M&A of enterprises already under common ownership - especially in Tech (cf UK regulators ordered FB to sell GIPHY). And so, regulators should consider breaking up Google Deepmind as per recent proposals: A new paper 'Unscrambling the eggs: breaking up consummated mergers and dominant firms' by economists at Imperial cites Google DeepMind as a firm that could be unmerged. [3] A new Brookings paper also argues that if other means to ensure fair markets fail, then as a last resort, foundation model firms may need to be broken up on the basis of functions, akin to how we broke up AT&T.[4] Relatedly, some top economists agree that we should designate Google Search as 'platform utilities' and break it apart from any participant on that platform, most agree that we should explore this further to weigh costs and benefits.[5] Indeed, the EU accuses Google of abusing dominance in ad tech and may force it to sell parts of its firm.[6] Kustomer, a firm of a similar size to DeepMind bought by Facebook, recently spun out again and shows this is possible. Finally, DeepMind itself has in the past tried to break away from Google.[7] Since DeepMind's AI improves all Google products, regulators should work cross-departmentally to scrutinize both mergers above on the following grounds: Market dominance: Google dominates the field of AI, surpassing all universities in terms of high-quality publications: Tax avoidance: Despite billions in UK profits yearly, Google is only taxed $60M.[8] DeepMind's is only taxed ~$1M per year on average. [9],[10] We should tax them more fairly. DeepMind's recent revenue jump is due to creative accounting, as it doesn't have many revenue streams, but almost all are based on how much Google arbitrarily pays for internal services. Indeed, Google just waived $1.5B in DeepMind's 'startup debt' [11],[12] despite DeepMind's CEO boasting that they have a unique opportunity as part of Google and its dozens of billion user products by immediately shipping their advances into[13] and saving Google hundreds of millions in energy costs.[14] About 85% of the innovations causing the recent AI boom came from Google DeepMind.[15] DeepMind also holds 560 patents,[16] and this IP is very hard to value and tax. Such a bad precedent might cause either more tax avoidance by OpenAI, Microsoft AI, Anthropic, Palantir, and A16z setting up UK offices, or it will give Google an unfair edge over these smaller firms). Public interest concerns: DeepMind's AI improves YouTube's algorithm and thus DeepMind indirectly polarizes voters.[17] Regulators s...

MLOps podcast #198, Inferring Creativity. // Abstract Generative AI models have captured our imaginations with their ability to produce new "creative" works such as visually striking images, poems, stories, etc, and their outputs often rival or excel what most humans can do. I believe that these developments should make us re-think the nature of creativity itself, and through identifying parallels and differences between generative models and the human brain we can establish a framework to talk about creativity, and its relationship to intelligence, that should hold up against future revelations in ML and neuroscience. // Bio Nick Hasty is a technologist & entrepreneur with a background in the creative arts. Today, I'm excited to share with you an insightful conversation I had with Joyce Layman, a seasoned business coach. The interview is so rich in content I've decided to split it into two parts. The Power of GIFs in Exposure and Traffic Our conversation took an interesting turn when Joyce introduced the concept of using GIFs to increase visibility, discoverability, and traffic. For those unfamiliar, GIFs are short, looping animations that can be created on platforms like Giphy, which boasts over 700 million users. Joyce shared her own success story with GIFs, explaining how each one she creates includes a link back to her website. This strategy has led to increased website traffic and even direct outreach from people who discovered her through her GIFs. A Word About MiloTreeCart for Black Friday Selling Before we wrap up, I'd like to mention MiloTreeCart, the platform we built to help bloggers, online entrepreneurs, and coaches to sell digital products. Midweek kudos to you for rolling in early today! It's Wednesday and we are talking about the government right to repair acronyms, Rivian taking the ever inventive dealership route, and AI images staying in the game for the long haul. There's a new agreement for automotive right-to-repair between automakers and independent repair shops. The updated commitment affirms the previous 2014 “memo of understanding” and includes telematics data. The Alliance for Automotive Innovation, the Automotive Service Association and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists said the deal means that repair shops will have access to the same diagnostic and repair information as authorized dealer networks, and covers all vehicle technologies, including BEV, PHEV and FCV.There are currently 2 bills in Congress that consider right-to-repair.The REPAIR Act (Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair) would mandate that owners and independent shops have the same access to tools and data as the dealer network, and those tools and equipment be made available to the independent repair industry. The SMART Act (Save Money on Auto Repair Transport) would reduce the time automakers can enforce patents on collision repair parts against aftermarket parts suppliers from 14 yrs to 2.5 yrs.The 3 groups sent a letter to Congressional leaders saying that “It should reassure you that independent repairers and automakers are not at odds on automotive data access, but rather in lockstep on this fundamental principle: Consumers should have choice when it comes to repair options.”As EV adoption continues its slow growth, Rivian is using a familiar tactic to get their trucks in front of consumers, opening its first “Spaces” showroom in Vancouver. The “dealership” will be located at The Amazing Brentwood shopping mall and is part of Rivian's goal of increasing its physical retail presence. Each Space is designed behind a casual experience with no hard selling. The automaker plans to have Spaces in downtown NYC, Austin TX, Laguna Beach CA and the Vancouver location. All Spaces will be unique, some featuring green areas, augmented reality, or being built out of an old theater. In the next year, Rivian is expected to announce the R2 series, consisting of a crossover and a Ford Maverick-sized pickup. The R2s are expected to be priced in the 40K-60K range, which is around 30K cheaper than the R1 models. In contrast to other image-sharing platforms, Shutterstock is all-in on AI, extending its partnership with Open AI for another 6 years. The AI company has been training its DALL-E image model using Shutterstock's library since 2021.Last year, Shutterstock added Open AI's image generator on its website, banning the sale of AI images that weren't created with DALL-E. They created a “Contributor Fund” to compensate artists when their art is used to train the model. They are also planning to bring AI features to Giphy.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email ASOTU Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/automotivestateoftheunion
