The countdown is on to the FIFA World Cup and so what better way to join the party than by putting together our own best XI of ASX stocks. In this special edition of Buy Hold Sell, we've asked First Sentier Investors' Dushko Bajic to take on the role of manager and select a starting team of 11 ASX stocks he thinks can deliver on the pitch. It's a lineup that is looking to deliver everything you need to win - solid leadership, genuine experience, strong vision, versatility and a bit of X-factor. But which Aussie stocks are getting the call-up and which are being left at home? Which companies can deliver the right balance of attack and defence? You'll have to tune in to find out. And for the football fans out there, Dushko also shares his prediction for how the Socceroos are likely to get on when the World Cup kicks off in North America this week, and the team he thinks will be crowned world champions when everything is said and done. Let's kick off.
Jonny and Ben review the J1 playoff 2nd legs on this episode, beginning with Kashima's home win that was merely window dressing as Kobe claimed the CEJLC title with a 5-2 aggregate win (to 35:50). Then we select our Best XI from the east across the league phase, and finish the pod with a brief look ahead to Japan's World Cup opener against the Netherlands. #We are aware of a couple of audio issues during the episode, most notably around the 42:20 mark, where Jonny's selection of Alex Scholz for one of the centre back spots in our Best XI mysteriously disappeared from the audio file, the audio picks up with Ben agreeing with Jonny's selection.#
In this episode of The Joy of Football Podcast, Martin Tyler and Neil Barnett take on one of the biggest debates in football — but with a twist. Instead of picking just one Premier League Team of the Season, they build multiple. From the ‘Best XI‘ to alternative selections based on impact, breakout, exploits against Neil's Chelsea, and MORE! This episode explores how different players from across the Premier League season deserve recognition - depending on how you define “the best”. The discussion features players and performances from across the league, including stars from: Manchester City Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea Manchester United Tottenham Hotspur and more Martin Tyler brings his historical perspective to what makes a true “Team of the Season”, while Neil Barnett challenges the traditional approach - asking whether one XI can ever truly represent an entire Premier League campaign. From title winners to standout individuals across the table, this is a full breakdown of the best players in the Premier League this season - with plenty of debate along the way.
