Hippo was at his breaking point—angry, broken, and ready to make a choice he could never take back. But in that moment, God showed up. What followed was a journey of redemption that took him from a past filled with trauma, toxic influences, and pain to discovering true brotherhood and faith. A chance encounter at a Christian festival led him to Men's Alliance, a group of men who held him accountable and pushed him toward something greater. Through deep loss and hardship, his faith was tested, but instead of breaking, he leaned in—learning what it truly means to trust God. This is a raw, real story of transformation, purpose, and unshakable faith.
Secular suffering? The strangeness of suffering in Christ: Don't be surprised… but rejoice! Don't be ashamed… but praise God! Don't lose perspective… but commit yourself to your faithful Creator and continue to do good. Suffering as a Christian

Send us a textWhen my mom shared Jonathan Traylor's song "The Table" with me, I knew I wanted to use it as a launching point on the podcast closest to my debut novel release, "A Seat at the Table." I contend that the world sees a "seat at the table" as an opportunity for power and influence. But what does Scripture say about having a seat at the table of Christ? That is what we'll explore in this episode.Let's examine a table in the Old Testament and the table of the Last Supper in the New Testament. In this episode, I discuss the following:Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture – this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Read in contextExploring a themeSpecial Episode GiftMy debut novel, A Seat at the Table - Learn MoreHow to evaluate the tables you are sitting atMy newest endeavor, Story Sessions, where I use a story as inspiration to study Scripture (much like I do on the podcast)Exploring the theme of tables in ScriptureExploring the Table of the Bread of Presence in the context of the design/construction of The Tabernacle - Exodus 25-31The Tabernacle was God's dwelling place among His people - Exodus 25:8The Bread of the Presence was a part of the priests' regular interaction with God - Exodus 25:30, Leviticus 24The 12 loaves of bread on the Table of the Bread of Presence represented the 12 tribes. Last week, we took a look at a pivotal passage of Scripture that illuminated the question of engaging with the world in business. Our ongoing theme has revolved around deciphering the moral compass for Christians in the realms of commerce and stock trading. Can we ethically invest in companies at odds with our beliefs? Can we reconcile our faith with the world of trade? In this episode, we draw this enlightening journey to a close. Brace yourself for an in-depth exploration as we dissect a renowned, often-quoted verse. But here's the twist – we're taking a step back to explore its context, its essence within the grand tapestry of the Bible. Does it stand as a solitary principle, or does it harmonize with a grander design?! Tune in as we uncover: Our role as ambassadors of Christ The power of positional righteousness The profound implications of justification Delving into the 'family business' concept Navigating the tension between divine honor and worldly disapproval A choice between legalism and walking hand in hand with Christ Don't miss this enlightening episode that beckons you to a deeper understanding of your faith in the business arena!
This week, you're guaranteed to recognize the tune! TwoForChrist, a ministry of married couple Nick and Haley Gaglione, recently uploaded a live rendition of their cover of Survivor's Eye of the Tiger. The lyrics have been mostly swapped out for novel, motivational Christian lyrics. While the performance has found a lot of attention online, we have yet to see anyone address the song's message. We set out to investigate the lyrics. "Eye of the Tiger" by Two for Christ presents us with the opportunity to discuss how sincerity is demonstrated among Christians, and how this demonstration has changed over time. We also look at the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), how Christians can cause the devil to flee (James 4:7), and what benefits await those who overcome (Revelation 3). I was aimlessly walking Then one day I heard the voice of God talking: “Rise up, child, to the enemy mocking Prayer is your weapon, pray without stopping!” It's the eye of the tiger—It's the thrill of the fight Rising up to the challenge of our rival With the heart of a lion & the armor of God You will conquer it all with the eye of the tiger Face to face with Satan himself Don't budge an inch, he'll take miles He'll find your weakness, he will hit where it hurts Stand your ground—make him run for the hills It's the eye of the tiger—It's the thrill of the fight Rising up to the challenge of our rival If you cast all your cares on Him & pray through the night You will conquer it all with the eye of the tiger Rising up straight to the top Fight for Christ, give Him glory Go the distance, don't retreat, never stop For the Lord always wins in the end It's the eye of the tiger—It's the thrill of the fight Rising up to the challenge of our rival With the heart of a lion & the armor of God You will conquer it all with the eye… of the tiger Keep your eyes on God And your heart in the word Be a leader in Christ Don't follow with the herd The eye of the tiger Always walk by faith Never walk by sight With the armor of God You'll never lose the fight The eye of the tiger --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/worship-review/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/worship-review/support
Wake the Faith up Slayer… This is Garth Heckman with the David Alliance and you can reach me at TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com Gym Apparel for men and women that rocks and shocks and ain't for everybody - but just might be for you. wellbuiltbody.com Do you have a habit of breaking any traditions… you know eat pizza for Thanksgiving, open your presents on Christmas eve instead of Christmas morning… eat dessert first… well of course I am in agreement with that tradition… how about if you are a Christmas baby celebrating your birthday in the middle of the year instead of Christmas… Scandalous… and thats where we are going today. Matthew 15:3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? [When asked why his disciples didn't do the ceremonial hand washing,] Jesus replied, "And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? For instance, God says, 'Honor your father and mother,' and 'Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.' But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, 'Sorry, I can't help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.' In this way, you say they don't need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition.” The problem comes when we begin to see our traditions as God's requirements or use them as excuses. In Matthew's gospel, Jesus confronted the interpretation of the law that added human traditions, rituals, and restrictions that were superficial and even directly contrary to God's will. Jesus, as Immanuel ("God is with us," Matthew 1:23), used both words and actions to show what God intended in his law. He challenged many of the accepted traditional practices and interpretations. He moved directly back to God's heart and will behind the law. Otherwise, those who are hungering to find God get left out and those who know all the little rules and traditions can feel smug and self-righteous. Jesus came so the last could be first and the first, last. When tradition crowds out the will of God, the truth is lost, from first to last! The word traditions isn't just a “well thats the way we have always done it”… but has a basis of someone who gave in to pressure and now it has just become that way. Some traditions back then Jesus just simply broke, he healed on the sabbath, he touched the leper, he spoke to a gentile scandalous women, he taught women, he applauded the heart over the act in giving… Some traditions seem good… Don't listen to worldly music Don't see movies Must be of this denomination or theology Must speak in tongues Must not speak in tongues Don't believe that healing is for today Must have a priest pray over the sacraments Must confess your sins to a priest What about other traditions that have crept into the church…. Traditions… sleep with your girlfriend/boyfriend before you are married… well its a tradition, thats just the way it is. Don't really tithe…maybe a few dollars here and there… but thats just the way it is. Don't really read, pray or meditate on the word of God… I'm busy and well no one really does that anymore… Don't go to church every Sunday… Don't tell others about Christ… Don't stand up for the unborn Dabble in pornography…. You cuss or curse or have obscene talk You enter into gossip For us to be true disciples, we must learn from Jesus and his word what God's will is. He reminded us in this passage that NOTHING, no teaching or tradition, should be allowed to replace the clearly stated will of God. I was reprimanded by a church leader for giving out the sacraments when in fact I was not ordained by that denomination and it in fact was a sin to do just that… why? because that is their tradition… Our goal as followers of Christ is to know what to follow… to know what his word says… to know what is worthy to be lived out and what is worthy to be thrown out. You have maybe heard the story of the Young mother who is making dinner and her daughter asks why she cuts the end of the ham off before cooking it. She says, well thats what my mother did… the young girl asks her grandma… why did you cut off the end of the ham before you cooked it… she said oh dear thats so it will fit in my pan… Look at what you are doing, and why you are doing it and ask yourself, does it line up with Gods word. Is there a possibility that you are following some rule or tradition handed down to you by your parents, or friends or society that is slowing your walk with Christ. Its at least a worthy conversation to have with yourself.

August is a transition month, think about it, we are coming out of summer: A time of traveling, rest, relaxation. There is something to be said about the time after summer. We are shifting our lives back to things that we deem as priority. School, work, and much more. With all the transition, where does God fit? Is He a priority? Our relationship with Jesus should always take precedent. Making something a priority means its important, making someone a priority means they matter. Is your relationship with Christ a priority? Let's talk about it! Welcome to week two of Back At It: Prioritizing Our Relationship with Christ (Don't Get it Twisted).

COVID-19 has been incredibly costly — it has cost millions of people their jobs, thousands of people their lives, and has changed the shape of our lives in countless ways. In the midst of all the anxiety and uncertainty, it can be difficult to stay hopeful. However, if Christians really believe that God works all things together for good for those who love Him (Rom. 8:28), we should expect God to provide us opportunities to grow in our relationship to Him. One of the clearest good things that has arisen out of COVID-19 is the amount of time families spend together. Time, however, is beneficial only when put to good use. Stand Firm in Christ--Don't be taken Captive
Every Tear will be Wiped Away! Are you ready? I sure hope so! Here we are in the first week of Advent, reading Isaiah and Matthew. Isaiah reminds us that God will always take care of us and wipe away every tear! We sure want that, don’t we? The Gospel of Matthew, through the miracle of the loaves and fish, prefigures the holy sacrifice of the Mass that we enjoy today. And together, both readings point us to the heavenly banquet that we will hopefully, one day enjoy. I say “hopefully” because it is not a guarantee (remember the narrow road!) that each of us will make it. But Jesus came to save all of us, so I ask you again, “Are you ready for the coming of Christ?” Don’t be distracted! Now is the time to really center yourself on the Messiah, the one who saves us! Let yourself be transformed, right now, today! I hope you have a blessed day in God’s Word. Janet Cassidy janetcassidy.blogspot.com janetcassidy.blubrry.net

Red Letters The Voice of Life 08/05/2018 We are going to read today that Jesus says that if people hear His voice, if they hear His message, then they will live… They will have eternal life. They will be saved from judgment. Which means the alternative is that people who don’t hear His message, won’t have eternal life and they won’t be spared from judgment. John 5:24-30 People need to hear Jesus, because there is life in what He has to say! Vs. 24 What else did Jesus have to say? John 3:3; John 3:6; John 14:6; John 14:23-24; Matthew 22:37-39; John 8:11 When people hear the words of Jesus and believe in who He is, they are promised eternal life! Right then, right there! That is the Good News! They are saved from hell. Vs. 24; Vs. 25 Who are the dead that Jesus is referring to? Jesus is referring to the people who have not believed in Him, in His message. They are dead spiritually! But Jesus has the voice of life! Those who believe are made alive with Him. Ephesians 2:1-5 It is by the grace of God that we are made alive with Christ! God and Jesus worked out this crazy plan that Jesus would take our punishment! That Jesus would bear our sins on that Cross! Jesus was willing to do that knowing that some would reject Him but He also knew that some would believe in Him! So the question is, “When?” When is the time to respond to Jesus? When is the time to listen and hear His voice? The time is now! Will you allow Him to give you life? Will you repent of your sins and believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Because we are going to be judged as to whether or not the life of Christ is within us. Vs. 26-27 Where do you stand? Are you alive in Christ? Don’t wait! Because if you do, you may never have a chance to. A time will come when those who are physically dead will rise at the sound of His voice, whether they have believed in Him or not. Those who believed have eternal life will rise into life. And those who did not believe will rise and be judged and sent to hell. Vs. 28-29 Jesus will be the judge. And He will judge fairly. Vs. 30 Praise God that you still have an opportunity to respond to Jesus’ message! Praise God that you still have the chance to receive eternal life through Him! Are you ready to meet Jesus? Will you respond when He calls? Do you know the voice of your Savior, the One who has the Voice of life?
In this passage, Jesus had just crossed back over the Sea of Galilee from the Gadarenes. They had been afraid of what Christ could do and pleaded with Him to leave them. Now He was with the Jews where a man named Jairus had a faith born out of desperation because his daughter was dying. He knew that he could not heal or bring life, but that Christ could do these things! This takes humility to realize that there is One greater than you. Christ is willing to work in those who don’t resist Him and His grace. If you refuse to believe, like the Gadarenes, Christ will depart. The power and work of Christ will occur in those that are willing. The woman with the flow of blood knew Christ was coming so she came to him and touched His garment out to desperation to be made clean to be set free. She confesses what happened once she was made well, and this confession was part of her complete healing. Now she was to continue in the faith that made her well. We too are to continue in faith, not in condemnation or anxiety. But if you cease walking faith, your peace will leave you. Don’t put a limit on the power of Christ to heal. See the possibilities of grace by faith. Are you putting a limit on Christ in your own life? Acknowledge the full power of His might to save. Who are you to put a limit on the power of Christ? Don’t be afraid! Only believe! Stop listening to the doubts! Instead, speak words of faith. Rely upon and speak the promises of God even in the face of hopelessness. Christ had complete confidence in God. So who do you identify with in this story? Jairus? The woman with the flow of blood? The Gadarenes? Don’t be afraid--only believe! Reach out to Christ by faith!
