Crimes Of The Centuries is dark this week, but we hope you'll enjoy this episode of Strange And Unexplained with Daisy Eagan. In the 1930s, some shadowy figures approached a decorated and beloved Marine with a plot to overthrow the government and replace FDR with someone much more friendly to the wealthy. If only they hadn't chosen Smedley Butler to do their bidding, we might be living in a very different world today. "Strange and Unexplained" is a podcast from Grab Bag Collab & Three Goose Entertainment and is a journey into the uncomfortable and the unknowable that will leave you both laughing and sleeping with the lights on. You can get early and ad-free episodes on the Grab Bag Patreon page.

Let's GOOOOO! It's time for our amazingly hard-working hosts Daisy Eagan and Ellyn Marsh to recap the fifth episode of Love is Blind's sixth season. When the amazing Ellyn Marsh asks the equally amazing Daisy Eagan to describe Season 6 of Love Is Blind with a single adjective, Daisy gives us two: "chaos" and "woof." Do you think those are apt or do you have other descriptors you'd like to toss in the mix? (Mullet-y counts as an adjective, in case you're wondering.) From the get go, Uche just can't comprehend why someone wouldn't want to be with him and how he could let himself get close to the wrong person (eyeroll)???? Episode 2 of Netflix's Love is Blind, season five, posits some tough questions for Daisy Eagan and Ellyn Marsh to ponder: Does putting a picture of a fish on your Instagram boost your follower count? Would you rather be killed by a shark or an alligator? Are the producers combating rumors of mistreatment on set by repeatedly showing spreads of bagels available to contestants? Join them as they ponder these and more during the sophomore episode of STFUNL. Shut The F*ck Up Nick Lachey is created and hosted by Ellyn Marsh and Daisy Eagan and is a Grab Bag Collab production. The questionable nickname (“Sugar Butt”) bestowed upon one cast member in Episode 3 of Love is Blind leads Daisy and Ellyn to reminisce about some lovely monikers given them by past and current lovers. We also learn about Daisy's sixth-grade “best butt” status, Ellyn's claims of infallibility on Yom Kippur and the right versus wrong way one should kiss on national television. Join us for that and the Uche cliffhanger on this, our third episode, of STFUNL. Shut The F*ck Up Nick Lachey is created and hosted by Ellyn Marsh and Daisy Eagan and is a Grab Bag Collab production. First off: Ho. Lee. Shit, that reveal! And two-ly: As our cast members end their time in the pods, we eagerly learn who gets a proposal, who gets the shaft and who gets straight-up ghosted. Wow, there was just soooooo much to unpack from this episode. A dream vacation turns sour for JP and Taylor, Lydia cares a little too much about Milton's bathing suit and we just keep wondering if it's possible to hate Uche any more than we do right now? In their episode 8 recap, Daisy and Ellyn explore how one mama's a saint, another's a sourpuss and Milton is confused about how to open a goddamn wine bottle. Context? Who needs context?! Daisy and Ellyn try to make sense of how our last two couples (try to) communicate with each other as they contemplate whether they say “I do” at the altar or “nahhhh, I'll just humiliate you on national TV instead.” Also, Ellyn's shoe sensibilities threatens her already precarious friendship with Daisy. Well hello, everyone! We recorded this episode a few days after we returned from Obsessed Fest ‘23. … Though it's probably more accurate to say that we recorded this episode a few days after we *fled* Obsessed Fest ‘23. Eh, tomayto, tomahto. We talk about Obsessed Fest quite a bit in this episode, but if you'd like more information about what happened, we have two recommendations: First, we recommend listening to the latest episode of the podcast One Dry Kiss. Their episode, “Obsessed Mess, Mischief MisManagement and Amazing People and Podcasters,” is a firsthand account of what the weekend was like for attendees. Second, we recommend listening to the latest episode of Rabia and Ellyn Solve the Case, titled, “About Damn Crime: Obsessed Fest.” In that episode, Ellyn Marsh, Rabia Chaudry, Joey Taranto, Maggie Freleng, Daisy Eagan, Amber Hunt, Harris Lane and Ashleigh Gibson share their experiences from the weekend. If you like receipts, this is the podcast for you. By the way, if you listen closely to this episode, you might hear Kristin cover a timber swindler. It's a troubling story about a man named Ralph Raines, who was exploited by a “psychic” named Rachel Lee. Over the course of ten years, Rachel took nearly everything Ralph had. And now for a note about our process. For this episode, Kristin read a bunch of articles, then spat them back out in her very limited vocabulary. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “Psychic Fiend's Network” episode of American Greed “Sweetheart Swindle” episode of 20/20 “How a psychic stole millions of dollars from an Oregon timber heir,” by ABC News “Phony wife in sweetheart swindle, who bilked millions from Gaston tree farm heir, gets prison,” by Bryan Denson for The Oregonian “Daughter of Oregon psychic pleads guilty to helping bilk millions from Gaston tree farm heir,” by Everton Bailey Jr. for The Oregonian “‘The Sweetheart Swindle': Rich older bachelor targeted by family,” True Crime Daily YOU'RE STILL READING? Hey, Crimes of the Centuries listeners! We're off for the Memorial Day holiday, but didn't want to leave you with an empty feed, so we're featuring an episode from another Obsessed Network show, “Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan” Daisy is a Tony Award-winning actor, writer, and true crime fanatic. But she's also a skeptic. Each week she looks at real stories of hauntings, disappearances, UFO encounters, and anything else that feels just beyond what we can easily make sense of. She is your guide into the inexplicable details of these stories. But she's also like, “show me the receipts.” We're sharing an episode that we think is perfect for COTC listeners - the story of Typhoid Mary, a cook who refused to wash her hands and the health department that chased her around New York City in search of a stool sample. She'd end up alone on an island, but everyone knew her name. We'll be back with and all new COTC episode next week, so in the meantime, check out “Strange & Unexplained with Daisy Eagan” wherever you get your podcasts.

We pull a lot of accounts with strange & unexplained phenomena from the anonymous posting site Reddit on this podcast. After all, its creators endeavored for it to be the “front page of the internet.” However, when a frequent poster –claiming to be a World War II veteran– advertised his own image-hosting site on Reddit back in 2009, a mystery would unfold across the internet tying in a mysterious jobs board, a stacked party bill and a high-profile assassination. Back in 2016, North Carolina Theatre was getting ready to present a production of Margaret Edson's Pulitzer Prize-Winning play, WIT. Prior to that, I was able to get in touch with one of its stars, Daisy Eagan. With 3 Broadway credits to her name, Daisy made her main stem debut as a child in the original production of LES MISÉRABLES as a former Young Cosette and Young Éponine. Her last appearance was in JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD from way back in 2000. Though she is perhaps best known for originating the role of Mary Lennox in Lucy Simon & Marsha Norman's 1991 stage musical adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1911 novel, THE SECRET GARDEN. Daisy not only got to be in a cast that also included Mandy Patinkin, Rebecca Luker, Robert Westenberg, Alison Fraser, and John Cameron Mitchell, but at just 11 years old, she became the youngest female to have ever won a Tony Award. *I do not own any of the content used in this podcast. The 45th Annual Tony Awards were held on June 2, 1991. They were broadcast on CBS from the Minskoff Theatre and hosted by Julie Andrews and Jeremy Irons. The telecast featured performances from the four nominated musicals: Miss Saigon, Once on This Island, The Secret Garden and The Will Rogers Follies. It also included a special salute to ‘The Year of the Musical Actor' featuring Robert Morse, Topol, Ann Reinking, Michael Crawford and more. Leading up to the award ceremony, Miss Saigon and The Will Rogers Follies were tied for the most nominations of the season, with 11 each. But it was The Will Rogers Follies that walked away with six wins (Musical, Score, Choreography, Direction, Costume, Lighting). Miss Saigon and The Secret Garden both received three wins (Jonathan Pryce, Lea Salonga, Hinton Battle), (Book, Daisy Eagan, Scenic) while the fourth nominee for Best Musical, Once On This Island, walked away empty handed.
