Yesterday, father-and-son Islamists killed 15 people in a chilling antisemitic terrorist attack on Jewish people celebrating Hanukkah on Bondi Beach in Australia. The knee-jerk reaction of many on social media was to blame all Muslims. But it very quickly emerged that one of the heroes of the day was Ahmed al-Ahmed, a 43-year-old Muslim fruit seller who risked his own life to save countless others. It should be possible to condemn antisemitism without resorting to Islamophobia - and say that you disagreed with some of what Charlie Kirk said or believed without grotesquely celebrating his death, as so many did. That was the position of Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, who - along with his wife - was murdered in horrific circumstances this weekend. In 1974, Wichita, Kansas was shaken by a series of brutal attacks inside family homes. Men, women, and children were bound, tortured, and killed by a predator who called himself BTK. For 17 years, he terrorized the community, claiming at least 10 victims and taunting police with disturbing letters that detailed his crimes. Then in 1991, the killings abruptly stopped, leaving law enforcement and the public to wonder if the killer had vanished forever. For more than a decade, there was silence. Then in 2004, BTK resurfaced with new messages, reigniting fear in Wichita. But that renewed need for attention would ultimately be his downfall, and by the following year, detectives had identified the killer as Dennis Rader, a father of two, a Scout leader, and a trusted member of his church council. Early in the morning of November 15, Miami Beach Police said Doherty refused to leave the street as he was filming content with his team when officers instructed him to do so. Christian's journey reads like a novel you'd assume was fiction—yet every chapter is true. For over 15 years of military service and 15 years in law enforcement, Christian has lived a life of duty—to God, to his country, and to his community. His time as a United States Marine and later as a U.S. Army Green Beret gave him the tactical expertise to operate in the world's harshest conflict zones. But it was behind the badge, on the streets of American neighborhoods, that he honed a different weapon—the power of communication.  “As a police officer, I learned to listen and speak to people in a meaningful manner. Those communication skills allowed me to solve problems, restore peace, and bring change.”  Christian earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently completing a Bachelor's in Evangelism at Liberty University.
