In a deep dive into Matthew 26:26-46, Stephanie Rousselle walks through the events leading up to Jesus' last supper, detailing the disciples' reactions, Jesus' prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the impending crucifixion. Drawing from scripture and cultural context, they explore the disciples' confusion and ignorance regarding Jesus' departure and betrayal, highlighting the significance of the Last Supper as a betrothal ceremony between Jesus and his followers. As the conversation delves into Jesus' emotional turmoil in the garden, the participants reflect on Christ's humanity, his struggle with surrender, and the profound implications of his impending sacrifice. Emphasizing the cross's centrality in salvation, they invite listeners to surrender to God's will and taste the goodness of the Lord amidst life's challenges. With personal testimonies and deep theological insights, they encourage viewers to draw closer to Christ and experience the joy of knowing Him intimately. #Last Days, #Jesus, #Final Hours, #Last Supper, #Disciples, #Gethsemane, #Crucifixion, #Betrayal, #Salvation, #Surrender --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/nancy-sabato/message

église AB Lausanne ; KJV Matthew 17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? ...

The Resurrected Jesus' First 40 Days“Jesus is Alive”This week we'll look at Jesus' first interactions after his resurrection, with two disciples on the Road to Emmaus.Today's speaker is Evan McGinty.
Did Jesus ever say that we wouldn't have bad days? On the contrary, Jesus actually said it was blessed to be persecuted. As we kick off a new series about misconceptions of things Jesus actually did and didn't say, Brett shares a message of encouragement and hope to endure the hard times in life.
In this week's message we begin our Easter series exploring an important, but often minimised, part of the Easter story and that is the temple as a lens to understand what Jesus accomplished in his death and resurrection. Jesus himself said, "I will destroy this temple and, in three days, rebuild it." Our text is Mark 11:12-20 where Jesus curses a fig tree on his way to the temple. The bad news of Easter is that Jesus condemns fruitlessness in our lives as he did the fruitlessness of the temple. The good news of Easter is that in three days he places himself as the branch from which true fruitfulness comes. Let us remain in him.

All My Days - Jesus Sermon Sept 19, 2021 by Concord Church
Do you believe Jesus will come back in these last days?
In this episode, we review the Daniel 7 Chronology in order to show that the consistent theme of Christian eschatology from Daniel through Revelation is a Two Judgment paradigm. (This is not a reference to the Final Great White Throne Judgment of Revelation 20), but rather to the strikes of the Stone against the Statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream. In the Two Judgment paradigm, a First Judgment is administered from Heaven against the Fourth Empire (Rome), destabilizing and fragmenting it to create the circumstances necessary for the rise of the Fifth Earthly Empire (the Little Horn of Daniel 7, the Sea Beast of Revelation 13), after which a second judgment is administered against that Fifth Empire (Roman Catholicism). These two judgments are consistently prophesied in scripture as a First Strike of the Stone fragmenting the Iron & Clay Feet (Daniel 2:34) and a Second Strike of the Stone grinding all the empires to dust (Daniel 2:35,45), andthe Ancient of Days presiding over judgment from Heaven against the Fourth Beast (Daniel 7:9-11) and the Ancient of Days (Jesus) administering judgment on Earth against the Little Horn, andthe Lamb of God opening the Seals of the Scroll of Revelation 5 (which are targeted against the Roman Empire, as we will show next), and Jesus returning to destroy the Sea Beast and the False Prophet, casting them into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 19:11-21)Under this Two Judgment construct, Christ and His saints receive a Heavenly Kingdom during the Fourth Empire, during which Christ opens the Seals of Revelation administering the initial Judgment from Heaven against the Roman Empire, creating the circumstances necessary for the rise of Roman Catholicism, the Fifth Empire. Then Christ and His Saints come to earth to execute the second Judgment on Earth against that Fifth Empire, Roman Catholicism, at which time the saints receive their earthly kingdom. The profound simplicity of the Two Judgment paradigm is that in the Fourth Emipire, Christ and His saints receive a Heavenly Kingdom, and after the Fifth Empire, Christ and His saints receive an Earthly Kingdom. Roman Catholicism is that Fifth Empire, thus distinguishing clearly between Christ's Heavenly and Earthly Kingdoms, and between Christ's kingdom and Antichrist's kingdom. We have included a graphic depicting the Chronology of Revelation 12 (as an example of John's use of recapitulation), and a graphic depicting Daniels use of recapitulation in Chapter 7, and finally a detailed graphic showing the Kingdom Chronology of Daniel and John.

REVIEW. “What did you take away from last time?” [Refer to last week’s responses.] “How did that go?” READ. Summary: To receive mercy practice repentance and mercy. Discussion Questions: 1. Palm Sunday is the time when we remember Christ’s entry into Jerusalem as both our King and our Savior. Contrast the two responses to Jesus entering Jerusalem, in Matthew 21:9 and 21:15. Why is it hard to receive God's mercy and leadership? 2. What two things soften our heart to receive God's mercy? Romans 3:23 and Matthew 5:7. Why is this so? 3. How can we prepare our hearts for Easter? RESPOND. “How can today’s discussion further your relationship with God, one another, and the world? Pray together. [Record responses and prayer requests.]

In the Gospel of Matthew, one of Jesus' major acts during his First 100 Days post-resurrection is to deliver The Great Commission to the eleven remaining disciples. But, when the disciples encounter the risen Christ, they worship him, but some doubt. Join Pastor Jacob as he takes this passage often used to convert others, and brings out of it the welcoming, inclusive, non-judgmental Gospel of Jesus.

Summary of today's show: Easter is celebrated for a whole Octave (8 days) and we're continuing to celebrate by looking at Cardinal Seán's Easter Vigil homily in which he reminds us that the Resurrection is an event that should continue to change our lives. He notes that in the 40 days between Easter and the Ascension, Jesus readies the Apostles for the new reality they are experiencing, and so should we be readied because the tomb is empty, the tabernacle is full, and our hearts are full of laughter. Also, Domenico Bettinelli relates to Scot Landry the hilarious story of his near-disastrous experience of the Easter Vigil at his parish with his family of five children, six and under. Listen to the show: Watch the show via live video streaming or a recording later: Today's host(s): Scot Landry Today's guest(s): Domenico Bettinelli Links from today's show: Today's topics: Cardinal Seán's Easter Vigil homily 1st segment: Scot Landry welcomed Dom Bettinelli to the show. They started by recalling the Easter Vigil and Dom told the story of the near-disaster of attending Easter Vigil Mass at his home parish with his five kids. The complete story can be found at his blog: * 2nd segment: This week's benefactor card raffle winner is Joseph Marinna from Brighton He wins the booklet Divine Mercy Explained by Fr. Michael Gaitley and an audio CD of the Divine Mercy Chaplet from the Congregation of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception in Stockbridge, MA. We'll be announcing the winner each Wednesday during “The Good Catholic Life” program. 3rd segment: Scot and Dom then offered commentary on Cardinal Seán's Easter Vigil homily at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston as summarized below: He started by talking about the medieval custom that a bishop's homily on Easter should start with a witticism because on Easter we are supposed to laugh at death. Cardinal Seán then read some of his favorite witticisms found on tombstones. Here lies the body of Jonathan Blake Stepped on the gas Instead of the brake. Under the sod and under the trees Lies the body of Jonathan Pease. He is not here, there's only the pod: Pease shelled out and went to God. But Jesus' tomb has no epitaph because there is no body in the tomb. The borrowed tomb is empty. And the last thing Magdalene expected was to see the risen Lord. The disciples were hard to convince that Jesus rose from the dead, far from foisting a story on others. The question we need to answer: Why do you seek the living among the dead? So many still look for Jesus among the dead. Some regard him as one of the greatest people of history, but that is not enough. Jesus is not some distant historical figure, merely a hero of the past or a story to be studied. We study Easter to day and each sunday because Jesus is alive. Our redeemer lives, calling us to conversion, discipleship and mission. Like the disciples we too are on a quest to discover meaning in our lives and path that will lead us to God and salvation. When they struck the shepherd the sheep were scattered on Good Friday. Jesus was crucified and the followers dispersed into hiding. On Easter, the Good Shepherd returns to gather the flock. The Gospel of the 40 Days: Jesus impresses on the disciples the new modality in which he will be present to them everywhere in the world and for all time. One of the ways is in the sacraments. On Easter, the Risen Lord breathes on the apostles and gives them the Holy Spirit for the sacrament of penance. He tells them to go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And they recognize Jesus in the Eucharistic gesture in the breaking of the bread at Emmaus. Jesus disappears but the Eucharist remains. The empty tomb was but the first hint that the resurrection took place. Far more important were the apparitions that took place during the 40 days of easter in which they were able to eat with Jesus and hear his instructions. Only now do the disciples begin to understand their mission and vocation and it is Pentecost when the Church is born. Faith in the resurrection was connected to the work of the Holy Spirit that inspired them to write down the Gospels and the New Testament. 150,000 adults throughout the US were baptized at the Easter vigil. The extended readings that recall the great events of salvation history, the blessing of fire and water, all focus us on the most important event in history, the Resurrection. Today the Church calls on all of us to renew our baptismal promises, recommitting ourselves to our membership in Christ's family, the Church. No other event in history has marked us a deeply or as permanently. It is because Jesus is risen that we are who we are. the commercialization of our culture has confused people to be confused about their identity and their worth. Eating disorders tell women they can never be thin enough. Millions of images challenge us that we aren't good enough. Advertising tell us that we have an inadequate or poor image and we need to be made over for a price. Our mission is to be beautiful and feel good, not to be holy and remake the world. The cartoonist Jules Feiffer made a cartoon featuring a boy named Danny who said he'd never wanted to be himself but like another boy named Billie, so he imitated him, but he was imitating someone else, and so on and so on. Archbishop Tutu once said he always preaches to his people that God loves them, because the entire culture tells them that they are unloveable. Each one is a child of God. Baptism is a basic, irreversible identity that bestows on us the dignity of being God's child. It resists redefining by culture. It is our truest and lasting identity as children of God and disciples of Jesus Christ. At Jesus baptism in the Jordan, the voice of the Father was heard: “This is my beloved Son.” Our baptism was the same. We have been defined forever as God's children. No one can take that from us. We have been given the mission of baptism, to do the works of Christ, to continue his mission to build a civilization of love, to manifest the merciful faith of the Father, to serve the poor and needy, to invite other to a life of community and discipleship. We should be reminded of our responsibility to welcome and invite people into the Church. We stand before the empty tomb and rejoice that the Holy Sepulchre is empty, the tabernacle is full and we can still laugh at death.
