The flow of the show with the themes the Gents love talking about every week is the jams that everyone is getting down to. That's why this episode of the podcast is more focused on music, especially with what EstoBro and TV are passionate about with talking about it. The show opens up with the Gents pointing out the career of Max Kellerman getting started as a rapper from New York rather than an expert on boxing and other sports (2:00). Taken as a shock to EstoBro, this is not one of the circumstances that got Kellerman dismissed from ESPN earlier this summer. With the Gents still basking in the ripple effect of attending their first music festival together, they both experienced a coincidence while attending DJ Diesel's set. That is why it was a major privilege to interview Biotechnick on the podcast and discuss the urban legend of this independent EDM artist that is on the rise. EstoBro is joined by Mandy Hatake during the interview (23:15) discussing the young DJ's passions and influences; especially encouraging which international music festivals he would love to play in the future. Post the interview, TV announces the recap of the hip-hop music festival in Miami known as Rolling Loud (85:05). EstoBro was taken by shock with how much the world has carried on with Travi$ Scott post his ASTROWorld fiasco, but overall the festival looked like a total ball. Finally, the Gents pay their respects to the late Tony Bennett (97:15), who passed away just last week. Bennet was a Legend in the music industry that carried on for over 80 years. Elle débute sa carrière de productrice en 2002 sur le label Audiogenic et participe à la l'essor de la scène électronique dans son versant le plus extrême. Elle enchaîne depuis de nombreuses sorties vinyles, en 2003 sur les labels 6 T Hate U et Roffkore, en 2006 sur les labels Noistorm et Dualkore, en 2007 sur le label Violent rec et en 2009 elle signe son premier album « The Virus » sur le label allemand Strike records. En 2014 elle collabore avec l'artiste Bong Ra et sort un Ep sur le label Prspct Xtrm, et en 2015 sur le label Motormouth Recordz et dans la même année elle rejoint l'agence de Booking belge "Footworxx" et signe la gestion de ses bookings en Europe. Eke Koopman is zangeres, marketingwonder en cultureel ondernemer. In deze aflevering van BETER OP PAPIER. doet ze uit de doeken hoe je jezelf moet ontdekken na een studie op de Academie voor Popcultuur, wat haar geholpen heeft bij deze tocht en hoe ze na veel omwegen uiteindelijk weer terug is gekomen bij haar ware passie: zingen. Ze is geen vreemde op DATkantoor. Eke Koopman loopt lachend de trap op, dit is bekend terrein voor haar, aangezien de ondernemer geruime tijd bij Urban House als marketeer aan de slag is geweest. Maar tijden veranderen en onze oude buurvrouw is langzaam een andere weg aan het inslaan. 'Na een studie communicatiesystemen belandde ik op de Academie voor Popcultuur', zegt ze met een grijnsje als we het hebben over haar studentenleven. 'Het AvéPé zeg je dan, hè. Dan weet iedereen in Leeuwarden waar je het over hebt.' Eerste wilde ze dj worden, toen grafisch vormgever, daarna zangeres en uiteindelijk deed ze van alles. Als Eke terugkijkt op die tijd is ze blij met hoe deze chaos verlopen is. Het heeft haar gemaakt tot wie ze is. 'Je kunt overal rondneuzen en een kijkje nemen. Uiteindelijk leer je wat je wilt. Maar het zwarte gat na de opleiding is wel echt een ding.' Eke belandt na haar studie in het callcenter van de Zweedse meubelgigant IKEA waar ze naar eigen zeggen rock bottom raakte. 'Dat was ook wel nodig om te gaan bedenken wat ik eigenlijk echt wil met mijn leven. Het was ook goed om een beter perspectief te krijgen op wat ik kan.' Haar collega's bij IKEA zijn onder de indruk van haar zangdemo's en dat geeft haar hoop. Het zijn tenslotte geen collega-muzikanten. 'Zo zie je ineens dat je blijkbaar iets kunt wat niet van vanzelfsprekend is.' Eke start haar eigen bedrijf op en met haar aangeleerde marketing-skills komt ze terecht bij POPgroningen en Urban House. Daarnaast blijft ze schrijven en werken aan haar muziek, iets wat ze weigert los te laten. Door een project van Sjoerd Vriesema – a.k.a. Stuart Mavis - belandt Eke in een writing-camp en wordt ze voor voor het eerst in de wereld van toplines en EDM gegooid. Tegenwoordig werkt de ondernemer keihard aan haar zangcarrière. Niet solo, ze zoekt de samenwerkingen juist op. Wat dacht je van producer Mike Williams die voor de track Day or Night haar zanglijn en vocalen gebruikt en het nummer vervolgens voor duizenden mensen draait tijden Tomorrowland 2019. Of hardstyle-baas Headhunterz die onlangs de song Home releaste met Eke's stem in de hoofdrol. 'Toen hij Defqon1 opende met Home werd ik helemaal gek!' Just when you thought it was safe and peaceful in the world of 4X4 music, this guy came around with the drive to gain ground. Although he started with producing Hip Hop music in 2004, other genres, which became the fuel of his passion, began to grow on him rapidly like buds do on trees during springtime. Techno, Tech House and Deep House are the seeds of his homegrown harvest. It was only natural that the next step was to sometimes leave his musical plantation and play his own music for live audiences. It went from sometimes to more often to most of the time. This jack-of-all-trades does producing, DJ'ing, radio hosting/managing (50:Hertz Radio/Minitech Recordings Radio) and being A&R for Airborne BLACK. No wonder that he cannot sit still. Playing along the establshed order (Roog, Kris Kross, Rob Hes, Drunken Kong, Ankytrixx, Man With No Shadow a.o.) never scared him. From one festival to the other (Amsterdam Dance Event, Defqon1, Indian Summer, Reespekt (DE), Promised Land). Smaller venue, large festival, national or international (Melkweg, Cruquiusgilde, RADION, Chicago Social Club, Club XXL, Club Pasha (Bali), Beachside (DE), Club Stalker). It does not matter for him. He always makes sure to rock the place with unconditional determination. That also applies in the same way for his egregious productions which have been released worldwide throughout the years (Spain, UK, Romania, Columbia, US, The Netherlands). The year 2017 is not only the year of his name-change (formerly known as Ricardos Raphie), but also the time to manifest.
