Welcome to @ACenturyOfStories presented by @IDFCFIRSTBank Discover the groundbreaking story and sounds of Charanjit Singh, the unsung pioneer of acid house! Using just the Roland TB-303 and TR-808, Singh unknowingly predated the acid house movement by years. Was he ahead of his time or simply following his own musical instincts? Watch to explore his influence on electronic music history!

It's anniversary time, and there's something special for it: Dr. Nepp from Leipzig is a good friend of Philipp's, who has an amazing music collection from all over the world. For the 50th UV Funk show, he has rummaged through his boxes of disco-like music from India and Pakistan, and put together a wonderful mix that gives us an impression of how Indian and Pakistani musicians have created an opulent oeuvre with only a few elements such as a drum machine and individual strings. Under a mountain of hard to reach stuff, he has fished out some pearls that everyone should have heard. Tracklist Interview 1 S. Janaki - Ezhupaalam Kadamnu 2. Vijaya Anand - Prema Rudaayade 3. Govind Naresh - Dance Music 4. Ilaiyaraaja - Pattu Engey 5. Vijaya Anand - Neeve Nanna 6. Gautam Dasgupta - Duniya Mano 7. Bappi Lahiri - Mausam Hai Gaane Ka 8. I did two terrible shows in February that are possibly permanently stuck in the podcast queue (programs 35 and 36). My press credential from a 1993 trip to Libreville, Gabon in Africa where I went to report on a summit that was organized by Philadelphia's Rev Leon Sullivan and was well attended by many African-American civil rights luminaries including Coretta Scott King, Jesse Jackson, Cicely Tyson, & Dick Gregory. Thanks to Philadelphia radio station WDAS and their then head of the news department, E. Steven Collins, for that experience.I had a simple quiet and unforgettable moment in an elevator there with Coretta Scott King...kinda divineLoosely related but I hope a good story for you.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Sullivan#Leon_H._Sullivan_Summit - please click Summit in the table of contents to read more.Enjoy!https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5gQLsodBsCys1_3Zbm83vghttps://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/qool-dj-marv-aural-memoirs-and-buttamilk-archives/id269880758https://music.apple.com/us/artist/qool-dj-marv/1558418894https://www.instagram.com/qooldjmarv/https://qooldjmarv.bandcamp.com/album/sound-paths-v-1https://tidal.com/browse/artist/23883666https://www.mixcloud.com/qooldjmarv/https://open.spotify.com/artist/48vhJ2d1hVaFHf6gqXeTm0?si=fWO0N456QeWRMWLUtqe4Yghttps://twitter.com/qooldjmarvhttps://www.threads.net/@qooldjmarvhttps://www.facebook.com/MarvJColeman/https://soundcloud.com/qooldjmarvhttps://www.twitch.tv/qooldjmarvhttps://www.paypal.com/paypalme/QoolDJMarvMusic
