We The Dreamers is an intelligent pop music songwriting and production duo. Comprised of vocalist/writer/producer Cassius (Myke Wilken) and guitarist/writer/producer Ethan Rose, We The Dreamers has been busy creating and collaborating with other artists around its home base in Los Angeles, California. The pair is now preparing to take a new EP called We All Need Time to the international music festival circuit and beyond. The sound is hyper-melodic dream pop done perfectly. Cassius and Rose first connected in a Facebook group for LA musicians and met for the first time over hot apple cider not long after. Wilken is from Chico, CA and is also an actor seen in many commercials, including a Skechers spot featuring Ringo Starr. Rose is originally from Albany, NY and landed in California after a stint in Chicago and has played music since he first touched a keyboard at age five. The pair quickly noticed the chemistry and ideals they shared and got down to work. The result of that work is the new seven-song EP We All Need Time . The record is full of gentle pop genius and positive vibrations that are seductive and atmospheric. Tracks like “Parasol,” “Wiser,” and “Time” display a mature pop sensibility and a high degree of songcraft, which is already making listeners eager for the next record. We The Dreamers share music and a desire for positive change and send the blend out into the world and are already receiving back the best possible echoes. Lovers of lush and melodic pop music will want to pick up on this pair early on.

Support RS at patreon.com/reasonablysound This week, it’s the sounds that surround holiday gatherings and rituals. Mike tackles several sonic phenomena and how they will function during your Turkey Day soiree. And how you can use their existence as fodder for conversations with your Uncle Alvin when you run out of weather to discuss. You’ll learn about the acoustic arms race that is the Lombard Effect. How the TV people record the sparkling sounds of football. And what being cooperative has to do with our ability to have conversations at all. Mike explores the anatomy of chiptunes sounds and composition, and looks into chiptunes’ relationship to hacking and the counterculture. This week: And now for something completely different! This week’s episode comes to us from our friends at Art Practical, whose current issue delves into the rich history of sound art in the San Francisco Bay Area. The included essays and interviews constitute a fraction of the rich and varied world of experimental sound. Here, Art Practical’s contributing editors Catherine McChrystal and Kara Q. Smith offer an all-audio version of that issue with samples of work by the artists profiled in that issue, including: Maryann Amacher, Joshua Churchill, Paul DeMarinas, Chris Duncan, Jacqueline Gordon, Aaron Harbor, Shane Myrbeck, Pauline Oliveros, Ethan Rose, and the San Francisco Tape Music Center. The Bay Area’s technological reign has established San Francisco as a destination for sound artists and experimental composers seeking to advance their practices through the genesis of new mediums. They explore sound’s capacity to conflate sensory experience; from the earliest days of sound art, artists and experimental musicians discovered in the genre a medium that is inclusive, participatory, disruptive, and that could embody their political goals. This episode explores how sounds are both aural and physical, producing reverberations that register in our ears and bodies and that locate or disorient us in space. You can check out the articles included in Art Practical’s Sound Issue here.
A tale of the Morrigan, a Vision-Quest and the Lay of Brighid In this tale we hear about the old Shannachie, Laoidheach, who visits a clan to bring them news. He is encouraged by a lively young woman to tell tales of the Old Gods. So he tells her all he knows of the Morrighan and takes her on a Vision Journey. Afterwards, she asks him to teach her the Lay of Brighid.
