TUI Cruises returns Mein Schiff ships to their regular itineraries after rerouting around the Strait of Hormuz disruption, a sign of how quickly lines adapt to geopolitical risk. New York commits to a 2028 opening for a new cruise terminal at Buffalo's Outer Harbor, betting on Great Lakes growth. And the Philippines projects cruise passengers will nearly triple to around 75,000 in 2026 as luxury and expedition lines flock to ports from Manila to Boracay, positioning the country as an emerging Asian destination.

In this episode of Big Crystal Energy, Ashleigh opens the month of May with a deeply personal reflection on travel as a liminal space — those in-between places where we are away from home, outside of routine, and often more open to transformation, magic, discomfort, and wonder.Fresh from a hotel room in Portland while attending Spirit Northwest, Ashleigh shares the story of her family's month-long trip through the Philippines and Japan. What began as a long-awaited pilgrimage for her husband to return to the Philippines and share his culture with their children became a powerful lesson in family, gratitude, culture shock, sensory overload, beauty, exhaustion, and the strange magic that happens when you are completely outside your normal life.Ashleigh reflects on traveling through Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and Tokyo, including visiting family, seeing whale sharks in Oslob, discovering Filipino folklore, experiencing the stunning beaches of the Philippines, surprising her son with a trip to Japan, exploring Tokyo, visiting Sanrio stores, seeing cherry blossoms, eating ramen, and navigating Tokyo Disneyland with two very tired kids. This episode is less of a polished travel guide and more of an honest, magical, messy reflection on what travel can awaken in us — especially when we are moving through airports, hotels, unfamiliar cities, ancestral places, and the emotional threshold between leaving and coming home.Send me any questions or comments you may have and I will answer them on upcoming podcast episodes!! Looking forward to hearing from you! Please message me with any questions or comments. bigcrystalenergypodcast @gmail.com
She began her career in travel in 2002, guiding honeymoon couples in Boracay, Philippines, and from that moment realized that meeting people and sharing stories was the path meant for her. After settling in Jeju, she has continued to run a guesthouse and travel company for international visitors, introducing the island's culture and everyday life to those who come to explore it. Rather than simply showing tourist sites, she believes her role is to design a day that matches each traveler's purpose and expectations. She feels the greatest reward when she sees visitors' expressions change by the end of the tour, and when they tell her she was the most memorable guide they have ever met. In the years ahead, she hopes to offer more people the chance to experience Jeju as it truly is, not just the polished version of the island.

"I wouldn't want to be either of them... What a mess to inherit" On this week's kickstarter show, Gary and Hannah head to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines in search of answers to the region's big travel and tourism questions. As the Middle East war's economic impacts bite, Malaysia considers extending its year-long Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign into 2027, an arrivals slump in Boracay adds gloom to the Philippines' tourism outlook, and Thailand considers a mandate to make travel insurance mandatory for all visitors. Meanwhile, ASEAN SuperApp Grab eases into the AI travel space with a focus on hotel booking, local food and, its major play, cross-border e-payments. Plus, what's behind Garuda Indonesia's huge 2025 financial loss? ("It's still melded to its past problems"), and new Tourism Ministers are appointed in Thailand and the Philippines.
In this short solo episode of *Colonize the Ocean*, I break down ArkPad — the marine-tech company founded by aerospace engineer Mitchell Suchner that's turning the dream of ocean living into reality right now in the Philippines. Their ArkPad-C is a proven 100-square-meter floating platform that's already survived two major hurricanes near Boracay. It features shallow-draft design, rainwater collection, off-grid solar, and modular connectivity for building entire communities. The big news? ArkPad's Samal Reef Resort opened in September 2025 as the world's first operational seasteading resort — a floating eco-resort, fish & lobster farm, and underwater aquarium all in one. Co-owners are already receiving quarterly revenue payouts (first ones hit in January 2026), and the upgraded ArkPad-D platforms are launching later this year to handle open-ocean waves up to 7 meters. This isn't theory — it's profitable, storm-proof ocean colonization happening today.Check out arkpad.co to see the platforms, Reef Resort stays, or co-ownership opportunities. The ocean is open for business — and ArkPad just built the first dock.http://atlantisseacolony.com/https://www.patreon.com/atlantisseacolonyhttps://discord.gg/jp5aSSkfNS

A punchline, a plane ticket, and a hallway recording in Boracay turned into a realisation: learning lands differently when you leave your routine. Aly and Andrew share how destination conferences change your headspace, why paying to be present makes you listen harder, and the simple systems that let you unplug without everything unravelling back home. They break down a practical roadmap for disconnecting before you go that can stop surprise escalations and resentment. You'll hear how handwritten notes and short reflection windows lock in retention, plus a lightweight process to digitise, summarise, and turn takeaways that you and your team can actually ship.Beyond the stage, we go deep on the art of conference connection. From beach networking to awards-night chats. Big firms and small shops alike face the same patterns at different scales; drop the ego and the room becomes a library. We also talk honestly about cost, value, and how adding a day on either side prevents your new ideas from getting drowned out the moment you land.So grab yourself a cocktail (or a mocktail) and join Aly and Andrew on their next accounting adventure and if you listen right to the very end there is a special little easter egg for you #yourwelcome.AAAAA IS PROUDLY BROUGHT TO YOU BY OUR SPONSORSTOA Global Dedicated outsourcing solutions for Accounting firms in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK and across the globe.Practice and Pixels | A digital agency that creates new, original and authentic digital experiences for accountants and their current and future clients through brand design, website design and development, video production, creative design and strategic digital marketing for accountantsPlanet Consulting | We work with firm owners and managers who want to run better businesses and achieve their version of success. Five conversations with world class speakers, one massive TOACon. Aly and Andrew recorded this one, beachside in Boracay. A change strategist, a survivor turned author, an innovation expert, a peak performance coach, and a behavioural scientist walk into a bar and .... unpack what actually moves the needle in work and life.We kick off with Dom Thurbon, who serves a spicy reminder that while everyone claims honesty is a value, most of us dodge it the second our image feels at risk. He unpacks why intent isn't enough, how social media rewards the wrong stuff, and what leaders can do to build psychological safety so their teams actually tell the truth. Then Emma Carey takes us from skydiving accident to the New York City Marathon, reframing resilience as the simple act of taking the next step. Her gratitude practice, recovery journey, and quiet determination will have you rethinking what strength really looks like.Innovation gets real with James O'Loghlin, who calls out the busywork trap and hands over a structure anyone can use: daily thinking time, a one idea a month KPI, and the underrated superpower of owners calling customers themselves with curiosity rather than ego.Next, Ollie Bridge reminds us we're all corporate athletes, sharing the three legged stool of performance—training, recovery, nutrition. Expect practical habits like exercise snacks, sleep hygiene as a warm up, and nutrition without the guilt trip.We wrap with Dr Shardé's model for big trust, grounded in self acceptance, agency, autonomy, and adaptability. She explains why confidence follows action, not the other way around, and how to anchor yourself in what you can influence while riding the emotional waves that come with doing hard things. If you're a leader, founder, or curious human craving better conversations, smarter experiments, deeper sleep, and sturdier self belief, this episode is your island-born permission slip. Two flights, one ferry, and enough humidity to frizz even the smoothest operator—Aly and Andrew touched down in Boracay for TOAcon, and let's just say: the beach wasn't the only thing breaking down walls. This wasn't your typical conference. Think fewer PowerPoints, more power moves—from honest chats on leadership handovers to getting real about growth that doesn't cost your sanity. In Part 1 of this three-part series, Aly and Andrew share their first impressions of the destination conference that flipped the script. You'll hear from firm owners who opened up about leading, hiring, offshoring, and scaling—without the burnout. Then we sit down with TOA Global's founder, Nick Sinclair, and CEO, Jeremy Clements, to unpack how a founder handover actually worked—clear roles, weekly check-ins, and enough mutual respect to go around. This episode is packed with sand-between-your-toes insights: why insights > activities, how culture compounds, and why “if you can, you must” might just be your new leadership mantra. You'll walk away with practical tactics (hello, monthly truth meetings

This is the story of a brave and hard working veteran who had to overcome sorrow, pain and life's hard knocks since he was four years old. Yet he was determined to find a way to a path of balance and clarity in life. Rob mentioned that by the time he was a teen, he felt that he'd rather die overseas than stay living with his father and stepmother. Rob served his country for seven years. After attempting to take his life and being assaulted by a senior officer, he decided that it was time to retire. Insomnia was chronic and conventional treatments weren't helping with Rob's mental health issues Rob decided to head to Asia and more or less loose himself in the culture, nature and face his demons. He explains, "Instead of waiting, I set out on a journey that changed everything.I lived with tribes in the jungles of the Philippines, spent three months as the disciple of a Hindu monk in the Himalayas, trained under a Shaolin master in China, and later joined a troop of spear fishermen in Boracay who hunted in the deep daily to feed their community during the pandemic. The lessons I gathered became the foundation of my book "Unfiltered Wisdom," a raw look at resilience, self-discovery, and mental health from the inside out." His book, "Unfiltered Wisdom," is the result of re-examining himself, his pain, sorrow, sickness and anger. Rob's first contact with me was this email:"I lost my mother when I was four years old on Christmas Eve in 1987 so I didn't really have much of a relationship with her throughout my life because she was gone. However, my father remarried, and I had a stepmother. We had a very complicated relationship, but she did really help my dad get himself back in order and gave us a way better life than my siblings before he had so I'm definitely grateful for her efforts and sacrifice in that regard.I'm interested in talking about my mom but again I don't really know too much about my real mother other than stories that I was told. My stepmother was the only mother that I knew and I'm comfortable to talk about her, but our relationship was very mixed with a lot of love, but I also experienced quite a bit of abuse so I have mixed emotions about it. It might make a good content to expose and talk about the idea of men having a mother wound. This typically drives them to be adverse to committed relationships and to be overly promiscuous because they don't want the risk of being vulnerable with a woman due to their unhealed mother issues.TURN YOURSELF AROUND FROM BEING A VICTIM AND A PLACE OF WOUNDS AND TURNING IT INTO WISDOM, DEVELOPMENT, HOPE AND PEACE AND ACTUALLY BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE."Rob shared so much with me including his journey throughout Asia, he shared "I lived with tribes in the jungles of the Philippines, spent three months as the disciple of a Hindu monk in the Himalayas, trained under a Shaolin master in China, and later joined a troop of spear fishermen in Boracay who hunted in the deep daily to feed their community during the pandemic."The lessons I gathered became the foundation of my book Unfiltered Wisdom, a raw look at resilience, self-discovery, and mental health from the inside out.https://unfiltered-wisdom.com/the-book/ I admire Rob tremendously for all the work her's done to bring himself inner peace. It's an important lesson, that sometimes following conventional protocol for healing isn't beneficial to all. It's clear that bravery and desperation help us face our illnesses/issues but honesty is the most important thing-being honest with yourself and allow others to help.Social Media Links / Website: • Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/robert.greene.799034 • Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/un_filtered_wisdom/ • LinkedIn:https://id.linkedin.com/in/unfilteredwisdom • Website:www.unfiltered-wisdom.com "Should Have Listened To My Mother" is an ongoing conversation about mothers/female role models and the roles they play in our lives. Edition No250 | 01-10-2025 - There has been a dramatic maritime showdown involving a grey fleet oil tanker, with shocking implications for Russia's hybrid warfare in Western Europe's backyard. French forces have just boarded a tanker tied to Russia's “shadow fleet,” suspected of launching drones over Denmark. Moscow fired back, calling the move “provocative.” We'll trace how these fits into a larger pattern: drone incursions, hybrid escalation, and Russia's threats towards Europe.Let's start with the facts as they're known. In late September 2025, multiple drone incursions over Danish airspace triggered disruptions at airports in Copenhagen and Aalborg. The flights were mysterious, unauthorized, and widely suspected to be part of a hybrid operation by Russia, though Moscow denied direct involvement. (Le Monde.fr)Around October 1, French authorities moved in. The oil tanker known as Boracay (formerly Pushpa among other aliases) — flagged under Benin but with opaque ownership ties — was boarded by French military personnel off the coast near Saint-Nazaire. (The Guardian)Two senior crew members — the captain and first mate — were arrested. The Brest prosecutor's office confirmed the investigation is ongoing, citing “very serious wrongdoings,” including refusal to cooperate and failure to justify the ship's nationality. As we speed towards the 4th quarter of 2025, some economic metrics in South East Asia are trending towards nervousness. Air travel capacity is a primary case study, where the year-on-year data is mostly positive (look away now, Indonesia), but the ASEAN and APAC regions (overall) are still playing catching from 2019... all those pre-Covid years ago. Plus, on our weekly travel news roundup, Gary and Hannah journey across ASEAN to discuss the top talking points in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and Timor Leste. En route, we discuss the devastating flooding fallout in Bali, 'brownouts' in Boracay, Koh Samui's controversial mega-bridge and the downbeat news that the Thai-Cambodia border "will not be reopened soon." To salve the sense of gloom, we finish by keeping our fingers crossed that Timor Leste will be admitted as the 11th member of ASEAN - although no-one seems quite sure.

So, we've passed a significant threshold. The first half of 2024 is completed – and an unseemly scramble will now occur to try and match – or get very close to – 2019 travel metrics across the region. In this context of competition, it's time to round up the top 8 travel talking points from June – and what an action-packed month it proved to be. This week, Gary and Hannah travel around ASEAN, with stopovers in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos and Myanmar, plus China and – better believe it – Kenya. En route, we discuss a new round of visa easing in several countries, the first Gastronomy Tourism Forum for Asia Pacific and a boom in film and TV productions in Thailand. Plus, what's happening with Malaysia's much discussed MM2H visa? And will Boracay succeed in attracting more Muslim tourists? Plus, we discuss the highly-anticipated launch of a Bangkok-Vientiane train service, and Air Asia X takes off from KL to Nairobi.
The end of the pandemic unleashed a flood of tourists around the Philippines that is wreaking havoc on fragile ecosystems. Environmental planner Chen Mencias has been advising local governments to aim for "high value, low volume," and involve local communities in tourism enterprises. She gives hot takes on the Chocolate Hills controversy and the Boracay model of development. And she lists the ways that Filipinos can be responsible tourists, and mentions two localities where local governments are managing their tourism sustainably.

Amazon "gurus" who share mistakes have more buy-in with their audiences.Ask me how I know.Every time I post my mistakes, I make more money.I get paid to make mistakes? Yes.When I started my agency it took off immediately. I had done consulting prior to the agency for 6 years. I was well primed to run an agency.I also had immediate success selling my own products on Amazon. I made a few brands, and in my best year profited 250k in 2021 (just selling on Amazon). As time went on, the agency took off (20-mil ARR now). But the product business mistakes piled up.I built more brands, and dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars on equipment.I spent 27.5k a month on warehousing (stupidest Amazon mistake I've made). And you thought the new FBA fees were bad?I invented new manufacturing techniques for holsters. Problem was, no one bought my holsters.I started a soap brand. I sold a million dollars in soap but I never broke the $20 price point so profits were peanuts. My wine glasses stopped selling, I started selling tumblers. Problem was, margins shrunk and competition spiked. The killshot tho? Amazon banning parody tumblers on Black Friday.I justified continuing selling on Amazon because every problem I ran into became content. Amazon yanked my listing? FU Amazon here's me troubleshooting for hours and fixing it.I was able to make awesome A+ content and showoff what a brand could do. I could experiment with SEO and break every keyword convention just to show off what's possible. It was great, and honestly the content stands up to today. My passion through all of this has always remained the same: Education.I am an educational company that happens to be selling on Amazon, that happens to be an agency. And because of that, me sharing how I messed up is on brand. Me sharing my roadrash is part of the education process. The mistakes I posted here aren't even the biggest ones I've made in business. The biggest one cost me 2-million dollars. And that's exactly why you should hire me. Because I have Amazon roadrash. Because I will help you prevent the mistakes that cost me millions of dollars.Or you could hire the guru who claims everything is going well...P.S. Pic of Boracay - if Amazon is an island, you gotta go through that cave to find success. You can't just walk the beaches.--------------------------------------------------------Discover the invaluable lessons learned from the highs and lows of selling on Amazon with Steven Pope, founder of My Amazon Guy. In this video, Steven shares his personal journey of transitioning from profitable sales to facing significant challenges due to Amazon's changing fees, category issues, and more. Learn from his mistakes in product selection, branding, and warehouse management to avoid common pitfalls and succeed in the competitive Amazon marketplace. Whether you're a new seller or looking to improve your current strategies, this video provides essential insights into navigating Amazon's complexities and thriving as a seller.#AmazonSellingTips #EcommerceMistakes #OnlineBusiness #AmazonFBA→ Use code STEVENPOPE6M20 and save 20% on your first 6 months of Helium 10!↳ https://bit.ly/3RTm5id→ Already have Helium 10? #philippines #folktale Today we are back in the book of Philippine folklore written down by Mary Cooke Cole. In the first story, the son is tired of doing his chores and has a bird brain idea. Luckily, he finds someone to chew betel nut with. And in the second story birds aren't always what they seem. So if they ask to help you harvest rice, you had better let them. If you want to know precolonial history in Africa, this is the show to listen to. Hosted by Mona, this show has history and folktales. She brings a love of the continent and the people. And if you like her show as much as I do, like, subscribe, and leave her a 5 star rating. Listener Shoutout: to Sydney which accounts for 18% of my Aussie listeners. Sydney, capital of New South Wales and one of Australia's largest cities, is best known for its harbourfront Sydney Opera House, with a distinctive sail-like design. Massive Darling Harbour and the smaller Circular Quay port are hubs of waterside life, with the arched Harbour Bridge and esteemed Royal Botanic Garden nearby. Sydney Tower's outdoor platform, the Skywalk, offers 360-degree views of the city and suburbs.
