Drop us a line or two . . .This episode opens the way the best ones do — mid-ramble, mid-life, totally unrushed. Queenie and TT kick things off with a digression about estate sales and thrift shops, specifically the unsettling realization that the stuff of their childhoods is now being tagged and priced at church basements across America. Harvest gold Tupperware. Avocado canisters. Country geese with blue bows around their necks. Roosters. Wallpaper you could strip with a steam iron and seventeen years of your life. They're not mourning exactly — more like doing that thing where you laugh because the alternative is sitting with the actual weight of time passing, and who has the energy for that.Queenie is riding a sativa-leaning hybrid from Ghost (a brand she's clearly developing brand loyalty to), and TT is working through a hummy gummy situation. Both are in decent spirits. TT has also been gifted, by her son and his partner, a book called *420 Things You Can Draw While High*, which has become a legitimate source of joy — she drew a Girl Scout brownie in a crystal sundae dish, which is genuinely perfect, and a spliff rocket, because she knows how to make a spliff and wanted to put that knowledge to use. Queenie suggests she share her drawings on the pod. We are on board with this. From there, the news portion arrives, and it's a bummer, as news tends to be. TT brings up a Louisiana bill signed by the governor that tacks on up to a year in jail and a thousand-dollar fine for anyone caught smoking, vaping, or consuming cannabis within two thousand feet of a school — which, given how schools are distributed across a populated state, essentially means a significant chunk of private homes qualify. Dorms too. Both women note the particular absurdity of layering additional criminal penalties onto something that's already illegal in Louisiana, seemingly in service of a "drug-free school zone" philosophy that has historically functioned less as child protection and more as an excuse to put people back in jail. Queenie points out that New York allows cannabis consumption anywhere cigarettes are permitted, and both agree that the Louisiana approach has a lot more to do with politics and performative toughness than any genuine public safety interest. This slides, as it reliably does on this pod, into broader political territory. E. Jean Carroll comes up — TT and Queenie both clearly appalled by what they're watching unfold with the retaliatory lawsuit behavior. Then: the Kennedy Center, the gilded bronze horses on the Arlington bridge (twenty-two-point-four carat gold, paid for by taxpayers, which Queenie cannot get over), the reflecting pool, the UFC fighting ring being erected on federal grounds, the music festival that now apparently features Kid Rock and a lot of empty slots. Queenie delivers what may be the episode's thesis: "There is no bottom for this guy. There is no bottom." They eventually, consciously, make themselves stop. There is a lot they could say. They choose not to spend all their energy there. Then comes TT's Choice, the either/or/what-if game. TT pulls number 33: *What if you could unmeet one person from your life? No hard feelings, they just never happened.* TT goes first and doesn't hesitate long — she wants to unmeet Lou, a man who entered her family's life as a business partner for her husband and proceeded to steal the company out from under him. She's still carrying rancor about it. She admits she was charmed by him at the initial meeting — charismatic, smooth talker — and believes she might have talked her husband out of the deal if she'd never met the man. Queenie nominates a former daughter-in-law, and the word she uses is "unredeeming," meaning the person brought nothing — nothing — into the lives of anyone around her. Whole family affected. She doesn't need much time to arrive at this answer either. What's interesting is where the conversation goes after the nominations: both women start circling the idea that holding onto this kind of bitterness is, functionally, still letting those people win. Queenie quotes her mother — "he who angers you controls you" — and means it. They land somewhere honest: it's hard to let go, but anger takes energy, and energy is finite and worth protecting. TT resolves to do a little ceremony. Burn something in effigy. Smudge it out. They've both mostly let it go, mostly. The "mostly" is doing a lot of work there, and they know it, and that's okay. The Fuck It List lands on high heels, and it's a full prosecution. TT wore chunky heels to an outdoor ceremony recently — had to dig them out from the top of the closet, climb a stool to reach them — and spent the day tottering around paying for it. Her new Skechers have elastic laces and she is evangelical about them. Queenie surrendered heels years ago on account of her feet and has not looked back. Together they trace the whole origin of the heel as a beauty construct: it's about making women's legs look longer, which is about appealing to the male gaze, which connects to makeup, to plastic surgery, to everything related to looking "good"! Rickea Jackson and Kiki Iriafen are two of the WNBA's brightest young stars. Today on the show, they each sit down with Nikki to discuss how they're preparing for the upcoming season, the future of the league, and why they view the mental game of basketball to be just as important as their physical training. Jackson also lets us in on how she creates and styles her tunnel outfits, and Iriafen shares what it was like guarding Brittney Griner in her first two games as a rookie. Plus, they both discuss what partnering with Skechers—a new official sponsor of the WNBA—means to them. Note: this episode was recorded prior to the 2026 WNBA draft deadline so while we mention Rickea Jackson is a player for the Los Angeles Sparks, she will be playing for the Chicago Sky this coming season.

Een kleine tip; plan geen kinderfeestje op een zondagochtend na een feestje waar je zelf bent geweest. Sas deed het wel en dat was een beetje bikkelen. En wat kost een gemiddeld kinderfeestje? Retail tenant rep broker Tori Nook shares how she built Anchor Retail, closed $1B in deals, and what's driving Ohio's commercial real estate market. In each episode, we explore the latest trends, innovations and opportunities shaping commercial real estate, because we believe knowledge should move at the speed of ambition and every conversation should empower professionals to act with greater clarity and confidence. Tori Nook has spent 26 years doing the work most brokers don't: driving unfamiliar markets, calling landlords who aren't listed anywhere, and building national rollout programs one relationship at a time. The result is over $1 billion in closed deals and a women-owned brokerage with offices in Cleveland and Columbus serving national credit tenants. In this episode, Tori joins host Shanti Ryle for a wide-ranging conversation covering her unconventional path into retail CRE, what it actually takes to succeed in tenant rep, why she was fired before starting her own firm, and what Ohio's tight retail market looks like from the ground right now. Jason Naylor is back! We caught up after four years since we first met at the "You Are Not Alone" murals at South Street Seaport. In our conversation, we discussed his new collaboration with Skechers, featuring his designs on apparel, hats and shoes. He shared insights about his book *Live Life Colorfully*, his passion for painting murals that began in middle school, and his experiences growing up in Utah and now living in Brooklyn, where he enjoys watching sunrises and sunsets. Jason opened up about his brands commitment to mental health following the loss of his sister to suicide, as well as his past collaborations with brands like Coach, Pepsi, Xbox, and MAC. He also talked about what motivates him daily, from going to the gym to doing simple chores like laundry and dishes, which can change your mindset to not overthink. My guests today are Alex Behring and Daniel Schwartz, Co-Managing Partners of 3G Capital. 3G has built one of the most distinctive firms in investing around a simple idea: there are only a handful of truly great businesses and even fewer great CEOs. Their model is to raise capital with the intention of making just one investment per fund, commit meaningful amounts of their own money alongside their partners, and focus all of their time and best people on that single opportunity. Their approach has produced a series of iconic deals, including Burger King, Tim Hortons, Hunter Douglas, and Skechers. They have also become known for developing talent early, giving young leaders real responsibility and ownership, and holding an unusually high bar. Once you've heard from Alex and Daniel, I highly recommend you read our in-depth profile on them and 3G Capital. They gave our managing editor Dom Cooke unprecedented access and the outcome is an excellent profile about the fifty year history of 3G and how the model began with Jorge Paulo Lemann in Brazil. After the Washington Supreme Court ruled that misleading subject lines can violate the state's Commercial Electronic Mail Act (CEMA), Skechers now faces a similar class action. The lawsuit claims the company created a false sense of urgency by announcing that sales would end — only to later extend them. This episode explores how the case underscores growing risks around email marketing and why brands should review subject line practices to avoid costly CEMA violations. Hosted by Simone Roach. Based on a blog post by Gonzalo Mon.

Brendan Kane, founder of Hook Point and author of the bestselling book by the same name, shares his proven frameworks for breaking through the noise on social media and attracting dream clients. He reveals why the biggest mistake video business owners make is selling the service instead of the solution, and how finding strategic partnerships can scale your business faster than chasing individual clients. Brendan also breaks down his unique approach to "storytelling formats" - repeatable structures that consistently drive engagement and results across any industry. Key Takeaways Solve pain points, don't sell services - Focus on the core problems that keep your ideal customers awake at night and position your video skills as the solution to those specific issues Partner with connectors, not just customers - Find the people who already serve your ideal clients at scale rather than trying to reach each customer individually - one partnership could lead to hundreds of projects Use proven storytelling formats - Success comes from finding repeatable content structures (like "Man on the Street" or "Is It Worth It") that match your personality and expertise Measure meaningful metrics - Focus on consistent breakthrough content that demonstrates you're connecting with audiences in your area of expertise, not just vanity metrics like follower count About Brendan Kane Brendan Kane is a digital strategist with two decades of experience helping entrepreneurs, brands, and influencers connect with global audiences. He founded Hook Point in 2018, where he has generated over $1 billion in client revenue and 60 billion views through innovative digital strategies. He started in filmmaking, overseeing digital strategies for Paramount Pictures and Lakeshore Entertainment, and pioneered influencer campaigns. What is the thing that actually wakes them up in the middle of the night? And how can you help with your skillset solve that problem." - Brendan Kane "Don't necessarily go direct to the customer but who already reaches your customers at scale and how can you create you know value exchange or a partnership in that direction." - Brendan Kane "If I had to create a video agency today, I would create AI video soup to nuts and I would just find a way... I would just be creating models where I can create AI videos and just start sending it to businesses." - Brendan Kane "I never work with people and our company never works with people to go viral for the sake of going viral, to get views for the sake of going views. It always has to tie into their expertise, their zone of genius." - Brendan Kane "The ROI is as big as your vision... This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're diving into power dynamics in relationships (we call them power points - Jules thought we were talking about Microsoft LMAO), weaning from breastfeeding (T-4 weeks), and what it's like parenting near family (spoiler alert: we're sleeping!!) Before all that - Air Canada flight attendants were striking (yes, we're still in Vancouver), and we've got some updated Canada recs for your next trip (don't worry, no chains this time… maybe). Then get into the whole process of weaning from breastfeeding/pumping (and if it's the final frontier to feel like yourself again postpartum). Plus: the age-old stain debate (are you a blotter or a rubber?), Skechers made a shoe with a secret AirTag pocket (actually kind of genius - but the internet is mad), a Ryanair flight meltdown over a crying baby, and the kids' product that somehow reinvented the landline. Real Life Runners I Tying Running and Health into a Family-Centered Life
In this episode, I sit down with the amazing Tara Welling — a former professional runner who raced for Nike and Skechers — to hear her powerful story of grit, growth, and finding joy again in the sport she loves.Tara takes us back to her first miles in elementary school, through her rise to the professional circuit, and into the realities most people never see — the burnout, the pressure, and the struggles with body image that came with competing at the highest level. She shares how stepping away from the sport allowed her to rebuild a healthier relationship with running, one rooted in balance, joy, and self-respect.We also talk about what it's like to run during pregnancy, the transition into motherhood, and how she's now pouring her experience into coaching. Through her work with RunDoyen, Tara helps runners of all abilities tap into personalized training, the right mindset, and the power of community support. This conversation will remind you that running is not just about chasing times — it's about chasing what lights you up inside. Whether you're chasing a PR or simply trying to fall in love with running again, Tara's story will leave you inspired to run your own race.Tara Welling is a former professional runner for Nike and Skechers, a 2x National Champion in the Half Marathon and 15k, and a 4x U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifier (2012 – 10k & 5k track, 2016 – 10k & 5k track, 2020 – marathon, 2024 – marathon). Now a coach with RunDoyen and a mom of two, Tara combines her elite-level experience with a personalized, supportive approach to help runners of all levels reach their goals — whether that's chasing a PR, building consistency, or finding joy in the process. If you want to connect with her, you can find her at the links below!tara.erdmann11@gmail.comhttps://www.rundoyen.com/https://www.instagram.com/tara_welling/00:21 Tara's Early Running Journey02:41 Choosing Running Over Soccer05:54 College Running Experience07:11 Body Image and Nutrition in Running12:20 Training and Motherhood19:16 Professional Running Career22:02 Burnout and Rediscovering Joy in Running26:23 Training with Sketchers28:57 Finding Joy in Running29:44 Running During Pregnancy33:23 Balancing Motherhood and Running33:42 Olympic Trials Experience40:34 Coaching Philosophy and Approach43:41 Personalized Training PlansJoin the Real Life Runners Team today! https://www.realliferunners.com/teamJoin the Team! --> https://www.realliferunners.com/team Thanks for Listening!!Be sure to hit FOLLOW on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your favorite podcast player Leave a review on Apple Podcasts. Attention is the name of the game in today's market. If you want to stand out, you need to move fast, think creatively, and tap into what your audience is already talking about. Whether it's a funny meme, a strategic shoutout, or a well-timed post, the brands that win know how to seize the moment and jump into the spotlight. So how do you identify those moments and use them without sounding corny or out of touch? In this week's episode, Don and Kyle unpack the power of real-time marketing using Nike's viral Scottie Scheffler post as a prime example. They contrast it with Skechers' missed opportunity and break down how brands can mine attention, play off cultural angst, and create moments people can't ignore. You'll learn how to identify what your audience cares about, how to speak their language, and how to turn attention into action. Listen in to discover how to make your brand impossible to overlook.
