Through honest conversation about modern parenting challenges, Adam Griffin shares how Christian families can create a discipleship-centered home culture that nurtures genuine faith in children while freeing parents from perfectionistic anxiety.• Anxiety in middle-class American parenting stems from making everything important and measurable• The gospel offers freedom from perfectionism without lowering standards• Family discipleship doesn't require theological expertise—just willingness to grow alongside your children• Modeling faith requires being both reliable (consistent) and relatable (connected)• Creating intentional rhythms (daily Bible reading, prayer, special monthly one-on-ones) builds discipleship culture• Biblical patience means resilience and tenacity, not just waiting quietly• True discipleship happens in relationship, not through programs or mere information transfer• Raising up leaders in local churches should mirror Jesus' relational approach to developing disciplesExplore more resources at familydiscipleship.com, including the Family Discipleship Podcast and Adam's upcoming book "Good News for Parents."Support the showWatch Us On Youtube!

Join me as I welcome back Israel Wayne to the Family Discipleship Podcast! Israel discusses the ineffectiveness of institutional solutions for church and family issues, advocating instead for relational discipleship modeled after Jesus’ example. Israel Wayne is an author and conference speaker equipping the Church in defending the Christian faith, living a Biblical worldview, discipling their families, and educating according to the Word of God. He is the author of the books Questions God Asks, Questions Jesus Asks, Pitchin’ a Fit: Overcoming Angry and Stressed-Out Parenting, Education: Does God Have an Opinion?, Answers for Homeschooling: Top 25 Questions Critics Ask, Raising Them Up: Parenting for Christians, Foundations in Faith, and Foundational Truths. Today’s conversation is with Gena Suarez, founder of The Old Schoolhouse magazine. Gena shares the story of her own family’s homeschooling journey, insights on how the homeschool landscape has changed, and thoughts on the importance of discipleship – not just academics – in the home education model. Paul and Gena Suarez reside in eastern Tennessee with their family and have homeschooled their seven children since 1990. They embrace and promote the Biblical philosophy that “homeschooling” is not so much about schooling and education as it is about discipleship – bringing up our children “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). The Suarez family wishes to share this vision around the world as they publish the trade magazine for homeschool families, The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. We want our children to know God. We know we’re supposed to disciple them. But parenthood is hard, and we’re busy, tired, and often feel unequipped. Join me in this conversation with Christie Thomas as she shares a secret: helping your children connect with God is way easier than you think! Christie Thomas is a mom and writer who has been involved in children’s ministry for most of her life, including working as director of children’s ministry for more than a decade. Despite its rich Christian heritage, America is rapidly sliding into secularism at an unprecedented rate. Join me in this insightful conversation with Bryan Osborne from Answers in Genesis as he unpacks the key drivers of this cultural shift and provides critical insights for effectively communicating Biblical truth and the Gospel to a secular-minded audience. Bible literacy is a growing concern in the Church, even among those who grew up in Christian homes. Sometimes our children know the Sunday School stories, but they don’t know how to read and study the Word for themselves. Join me as I have a discussion with Abby Banks about the case for Bible literacy, why it’s important to find resources that dive deeper than simply learning Bible facts, and how families can start studying whole books of the Bible together – even if you never learned yourself! Abby Banks is a former classroom teacher, now homeschool mom of five and pastor’s wife. Even though she grew up in a Christian home, she was never taught how to read and understand the Bible. After learning how to deep dive into the Word using the inductive method, Abby has taught it to kids, teens, and women in various church and homeschool contexts for the last 20 years. Her Inductive Bible Study Courses for K-12 give families a step-by-step resource for learning to study the Word together. You can find her at 4onemore.com and the Homeschool with Moxie Podcast. In this week’s episode, I chat with veteran homeschool dad Davis Carman about how to build a lasting multi-generational homeschool legacy. Davis compares the homeschool journey to constructing a medieval castle; it takes time, intentionality, and a focus on a strong foundation. But with the Lord’s blessing, it will stand the test of time! Davis Carman got started on his homeschool adventure with a providential two-by-four on the side of his head. Twenty-six years and seven graduates later, he hopes to share some of the lessons he’s learned along the way to help other families enjoy the most successful, satisfying, and Christ-centered homeschool possible. He is the president of Apologia Educational Ministries, the #1 publisher of creation-based science, math, and Bible curriculum for homeschooling families. He blogs at apologia.com/blog and is the co-host of the Let’s Talk Homeschool podcast. He believes that if there was ever a time to homeschool, it is now!
