Pastor Erina reflects on sections in Mark and the ways that Jesus disrupts the social order of his time by reorienting family and kinship. How might the promise of a family that extends beyond our blood families be good news for us in a time, climate, and reality in which sometimes, our families are the ones we need saving from?

This week, we look at the story of a man, who should still be in the NFL, but screwed up way too much to stick around. His legal problems started in college, and quickly progressed, during his very brief NFL career. He doesn't seem to be a very good driver, but that just leads to chases & tasings. He also seems to have no problem punching a pregnant woman, or his cousin. His epic Pizza Hut arrest video is one of the craziest things of all time!!Be a little kid, when your father is stabbed to death by your stepmother, pull the taser prongs out of your own back, so you can keep running from the cops, and confuse Pizza Hut with Papa John's, while taking it all out on your cousin with Mark Walton!!Check us out, every Tuesday! We will continue to bring you the biggest idiots in sports history!! Mark 10:2-16 addresses the difficult topic of marriage, divorce and re-marriage. In Jesus' time, divorce was very different than it is today. A man could divorce his wife for any reason and with no warning. Jesus is tested with this reality and responds that cavalierly ending a marriage is a sin. Listen as Fr. Jim teaches about the history behind this Gospel and the pastoral realities we face today.from Mark 10:2-16The Pharisees approached Jesus and asked,"Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?" They were testing him.He said to them in reply, "What did Moses command you?" They replied,"Moses permitted a husband to write a bill of divorceand dismiss her."But Jesus told them,"Because of the hardness of your heartshe wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and motherand be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together,no human being must separate." In the house the disciples again questioned Jesus about this. He said to them,"Whoever divorces his wife and marries anothercommits adultery against her;and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."Read the full scripture passage: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/100624.cfmHeart to Heart Catholic Media MinistryInspire Believers. Continuing to exhort through Mark. This is Mark 3:31-35 where we see the mother and brothers of Jesus come to get Him out of the house He is teaching in. In Mark 10:28–30, Jesus gives to his disciples, who had left all to follow him. In return, Jesus gave them a wonderful promise about how the church can be a family. In this text, we learn something about what we, as Christians, are called to leave, what we, by his grace receive, and what we provide.
Have you ever wondered about the intricate dance between the many roles we play in life? That's precisely what we unravel with Mark Champoux, a high school teacher for nearly 30 years who has also coached multiple sports. Family is everything to the Champoux family, and they cherish the bond of communication they nurture within their family.Mark's story illuminates the art of building relationships through intentional communication—a skill he honed from witnessing his father's career in teacher training and his mother's unwavering support. We explore how these 'old school' skills have a timeless place in our digitally-focused business world. Expect to be inspired by Mark's profound take on fatherhood, as he stresses the importance of listening and fostering curiosity and shares reflections on coaching that go far beyond the green or the court. The saying "give a damn" is interesting. Who are you giving it to? To give a damn is a good thing, but does that mean it's also good to take a damn? Also, how many times can you say "damn" before it starts sounding like a made-up word? Let's find out if the answer is five: Mark wrote a book called Give A Damn, which is basically what Tom has been saying on a daily basis for the past few years condensed into book form. Will we ever get along? What do we do about all this hatred? And what the hell is a Cap Snaffler? Disclaimer: we can't guarantee that last one is actually in the book.
