In this episode of Create Like The Greats, Ross dives into the evolving landscape of digital marketing in the era of artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs). He challenges brands to rethink their approach by understanding that today's most influential "audiences" aren't just humans—they're machines. Ross outlines how AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews, and others scrape public content to generate recommendations and answers for users, and how brands can strategically position their content to become part of this intelligence loop. Whether it's SEO, Reddit commentary, or owning bottom-of-funnel content, Ross shares powerful frameworks and tactics to help your brand stay relevant, present, and impactful in the age of AI-driven search results. Your Website: More Than Just Pretty – It's a Salesperson That Never Sleeps Your website isn't just a pretty face for your business. Done right, it's a 24/7 salesperson, constantly working to attract and convert leads even when you're not. But how do you make sure your website pulls its weight? I sat down with **Lori Highby**, owner of Keystone Click, to get to the bottom of what makes a website not only visually appealing but also a powerful sales tool. Here are some key takeaways: Speak to Your Customer's Pain Your website's primary job is to solve your customer's problem. Lori emphasized the importance of understanding your *ideal customer* and addressing their pain points right from the start. Visitors are looking for solutions, and if your site speaks directly to their problems, it will grab their attention immediately.  *Tip*: Each page of your website should focus on *one* problem or pain point. Avoid overwhelming your audience by trying to solve everything on a single page. Pass the “Billboard Test Lori introduced a great concept: the "billboard test." You have just seven seconds to capture someone's attention when they land on your website. If your message isn't clear, they're gone. So what should you focus on? A unique value proposition and proof of your work.  Unique Value Proposition (XYZ Statement) - Clearly define what you do, who you do it for, and what benefits your customers get by working with you. For example, "We build websites for contractors, helping them attract more business. Proof of Your Work: Instantly build trust with visitors by showcasing testimonials, client logos, or press mentions. People need reassurance that you can deliver.  Make It Easy to Convert Once you have their attention, it's critical to make the next step obvious. Whether it's signing up for a newsletter, booking a consultation, or making a purchase, your call to action (CTA) needs to be clear and compelling.  *Tip*: Don't make your visitors work to figure out how to engage with you. Have multiple, easy-to-find CTAs on each page guiding them towards conversion Craft Your Homepage as a Gateway Your homepage is like the cover of a book — it introduces your brand, but more importantly, it should act as a gateway to the rest of your website. Lori suggested thinking of it as a “choose your own adventure.” Make it easy for visitors to navigate to different sections of your site based on their needs, but keep the overall message simple and clear. The Post-Conversion Experience Matters What happens after someone fills out a form or takes a desired action on your site? This is often overlooked but incredibly important. Lori pointed out that the follow-up, like a thank you page or an automatic email, should continue to build trust and confidence in the decision they've just made. *Tip*: Reinforce their decision by providing additional value, like testimonials or next steps, and ensure the entire process feels seamless and professional. --- Discover other episodes and more:  https://morethanafewwords.com/avoid-fomo/ Connect with Lorraine on LinkedIn

Not a 'diss' on the original. Opportunity to retell is a fun journey for reader and author. Plots are familiar (off-beat romance, forbidden relationship, etc), can insert or end story at a different point. In conversation with other works.   Only so many plots, we process our lives with story. Not derivative. Our human struggle has really never changed. The setting has, but universal truths haven't. As a species, have we really made much progress?    Take plot, make modern day, explore the relationships.  Do the research of retellings (all) already written first. Find what hasn't been said. Why are you telling this version? What questions exist? Why are you driven to write about it?   Follow your why's? What story has you still thinking about it? Follow your curiosity. This is the ultimate fan fiction. What are you obsessed with? What are you wanting to say with this retelling? "Inspired by" -- have permission to make these stories our own. Insert our own thoughts and conversation with this art. Art evolves this way. Museums hold many variations of the Virgin Mary. For instance.  License to play with it. What about exposing yourself to the "scholars" and experts response? Interest and curiosity is the response. Tip: Don't feel like anything is out of bounds for you. Just do it well. You are allowed to do it. If it lights you up, I think you should do it. Iceland, a land of fire and ice, offers a myriad of awesome routes for tourists to explore attractions, but none as well known as the Golden Circle. This popular tourist route is easily accessible from Reykjavik, and it encapsulates the raw beauty and geological marvels of Iceland. In this comprehensive guide, I will take you through the classic stops of the Golden Circle - Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Hot Spring, and Gullfoss Waterfall - and share insights on additional stops that will transform your journey into an unforgettable adventure.Tip: If you were only to do the three main stops, Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Hot Springs, Gulfoss as a round trip adventure that started and ended in Reykjavík, it will be about 3 hours and 27 minutes of driving without traffic or 233 kilometers (145 miles) according to Google Maps. Ask Jewells Anything About Iceland Before I jump in, I am excited to share that I have created a form where my listeners and followers can submit questions for the “Ask Jewells About Iceland” podcast episodes I plan to do. Here is the link to submit your question. It is a super simple form that only asks for your question and first name to submit. I will create a separate podcast episode to answer the questions submitted. It's basically an ask me anything segment that I decided to start in 2024. Thingvellir National Park: Where History and Geology Converge If you are traveling from the Reykjavík area or the West part of the country, your first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This isn't just a place of outstanding natural beauty; it's a cornerstone of Icelandic culture and history. Here, the Althing, the world's oldest functioning parliament, was established in 930 AD. As you walk through the park, you're literally strolling between continents; the park lies in a rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. The sight of the vast, rugged landscape stretching out before you is awe-inspiring. In one part of the park is the gorgeous öxarárfoss waterfall. You can easily walk to it and other parts of the park, but there is also the option to drive to different points. Please know that you are expected to pay for parking at the main parking lot, which is where the information center is located. If you do not pay, you will likely get a fine that your rental car company will bill you for.Tip: Don't miss the Silfra fissure, known for its crystal-clear waters and popular for snorkeling and diving. Geysir Hot Spring Area: A Geothermal Marvel Next on the list of the main stops is the Geysir Hot Spring Area. Home to the famous Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 8-10 minutes, shooting a column of water up to 30 meters in the air, this geothermal area is a testament to Iceland's volcanic activity. The ground is alive here, with bubbling mud pools, steaming vents, and the smell of sulfur in the air. The area is named Geysir because the hot spring Geysir used to shoot water into the air too but it is now dormant.Fun Fact: The English word "geyser" derives from Geysir, the name of an old geyser in the area. Gullfoss Waterfall: The Golden Falls The crown jewel of the Golden Circle is undoubtedly Gullfoss Waterfall. Known as the 'Golden Falls', this stunning two-tiered waterfall thunders into a deep canyon, creating a mist that often produces beautiful rainbows, adding to its ethereal beauty. The power and grandeur of Gullfoss are mesmerizing, and the story of its conservation is equally compelling, epitomizing Icelanders' respect for their natural environment. During summer, there is a trail that runs alongside the falls that allows you to get a closer vantage point and feel the power the waterfall rumbling beneath you. During winter, this path is often roped off because it can be icy and dangerous to walk on.

This has been one of the most impactful processes that I have used to improve my mental heath, build deeper relationships, and accomplish my personal and professional goals. This is a free step by step guide on how to complete a 360 degree review of your strengths and weaknesses and use the power of artificial intelligence to synthesize the data to produce an actionable list of 10 New Year's resolutions. These resolutions are then turned into 5 simple tasks/habits to improve your life. When implemented, these simple daily habits will dramatically improve your life, happiness, and success. These habits compound on each other and within a few months you will see a dramatic improvement on every measurement that you set out to improve. I guarantee it. Year Of The Opposite - Travis Stoliker's Substack is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Here are the steps that I take and the templates that you can use to improve your life. * Identify the 10-50 people in your life that you trust to give you feedback about your performance over the past year. These can be friends, family, co-workers, investors, partners - anyone that you have a relationship with that can help you improve. Make sure to include a few people that may be critical of you. * Call, email, or send a text message to each of them asking if they would be willing to participate in an anonymous 360 review of your performance by completing a short 8 question form. Only select people that take it seriously and are willing to help. Some people will think it's silly. That's okay, ignore them.* Note: Some people may not want to do an online form, that's fine, ask them the questions over the phone or in person and document their responses in the spreadsheet yourself.* Access this spreadsheet and “Make a copy” by going to “File” > “Make a Copy”. * To access the form, just go to: Tools > Manage Form > Edit Form.* Next, send each of the people that agreed to review you a copy of the form that you just created. (Steps below) * Follow these 4 steps to copy a link to the form and send it: * The simple questions on the form are: * What is your relationship to me?  * In your opinion, have I improved in 2023 from 2022? How so?** What am I doing well?** What could I be doing better?** What do you need from me?* What should I stop doing?* What should I start doing or do more of? * Any other feedback you have for me?* Tip: Don't look at the responses as they come in. Wait until everyone has responded. This keeps it more anonymous. * Follow up with everyone 2 days later: Ask them if they have completed the form? Remind them how important it is to you and that you appreciate their help. * Optional: follow up again in a couple days. (People forget!) First, Why Are We Doing This? What is the Goal? What is NOT the goal? The goal of this process is to find areas where we can improve ourselves so that we can be happier, healthier, more productive, have better relationships with our friends, and build better relationships with our family. I'm going to tell you right now, you're going to hear a LOT of great things about yourself and that feels amazing. But this is NOT the goal and we must make sure to not get high on our own supply. Remember, these are mostly our friends and family that are giving us feedback. They will be biased towards saying nice and positive things about us - sometimes - even when they don't believe them. You must constantly guard against inflating your ego and self importance. Move past the praise and look for the areas that you can improve. And if you selected the right people for this, you're also going to hear some really critical and negative things about your behavior. This is the goal. But when you read the criticism, the goal is not to shatter your self esteem, get you down in the dumps, or make you think you're worthless. Far from it! The simple fact that you are doing this process means that you are in the top 1% of people that are self aware and looking to improve themselves. Do NOT focus on the negative for too long. Don't build an enemies list of people that are disloyal to you because of what you read here. Remember, you ASKED for this feedback. You need to use it as fuel to improve, not as a lead anchor around your neck, or worse, lead bullets in your weapon to attack your new enemies. That is NOT the goal of this process. I'll share some strategies for how to use the criticism as rocket fuel below. Time to Review Your FeedbackYou can access the feedback in a few ways. If you go back to the form you can see “Summary” and “Individual” feedback. Or you can click “Link to Sheets” if you would like to view it as a spreadsheet. Steps you can take the read this feedback successfully without becoming defensive: * Don't try to guess who gave you the feedback. It doesn't matter. * Don't dwell on on any individual responses. Read the feedback and moveon to the next one. Especially high praise and brutal criticism. * Instead, look for patterns in the feedback. If something comes up multiple times, give it more weight than things that are only mentioned once. Repeated feedback might be telling you something. * Remember, you're never as good as people say you are, and you're never as bad as your critics say you are. Be leary of high praise and of brutal criticism. * The biggest thing to look for are criticisms that hit you like a harpoon to the chest. When someone says something critical about you that deeply resonates with what you are feeling about yourself - that is the feedback to focus on. This feedback is aligning with what you know personally and is being validated by multiple outside sources. This is the area where I think you will get the most benefit from focusing on improvement. Using Artificial Intelligence to Summarize The Feedback*Security note, you will be uploading information into ChatGPT. This could make people uncomfortable. It doesn't concern me but if you do have concerns, don't do it. Now that you have read all of the feedback individually, it's time to use Artificial Intelligence to summarize it and give you the highlights. * In the form, click the button “View in Sheets” * Each column will represent everyone's answers to each of the questions. * Go to Chat GPT https://chat.openai.com/* IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure to do ALL of this within one chat window in Chat GPT. Don't create new chat windows. * Paste this prompt into Chat GPT: * I am completing a 360 review of myself and my performance. I have asked friends, family, co-workers and business partners to answer multiple questions about me. Chat GPT, I would like you to work as a counselor to fairly and dispassionately review all of the individual feedback and synthesis it into a 2 to 3 paragraph summary about each of the questions that I asked. I would also like you to retain all of this information so that I can ask you questions about it. After this chat, I will be copy and pasting the data from the spreadsheet one question at a time. The first cell will be the question that I asked, then the following cells will be the individual responses from each of the people that I asked to fill out the form. Please confirm that you understand and then let me know that you are ready for me to copy and paste the information into the next chat dialog box.* From the Google Sheet that contains all the answers to the questions, copy and paste the question and all of the answers to the questions directly into Chat GPT and submit them. Remember to grab ALL the feedback to that question. Not just one at a time. B1:B25 for instance. * Read the result in Chat GPT. * Authors note: Wasn't the response insanely accurate???? It blew me away at how well Chat GPT was able to summarize me based off the aggregate information from my friends and family. * Review the information from Chat GPT. Then copy and paste that information into a new cell at the bottom of your spreadsheet. This will give you a summary of each question and response within the Google Sheet.* Next, Write this prompt to Chat GPT to get ready for the answers to the next question: * Thank you. That was perfect. Are you ready to do the the exact same thing for the next question? I will past it after you confirm you are ready. * Paste in the next question and all the responses. * Read the summary, then copy and paste it into the end of your spreadsheet.* Repeat this same process for all of the remaining questions. Now let's get a summary of how you are doing Use this prompt in Chat GPT within the same conversation window that contains all this information: * Chat GPT prompt:* Ignore all of the summaries that you have made. Only look at the information that I have copied and pasted directly from my 360 review. Look at all of them and synthesis all of the information and create a 6 paragraph summary and analysis of how I am doing and where I can improve. When possible, use direct quotes from some of the feedback that I was given. When possible, use real examples from the information I was given. Focus on the things that were mentioned multiple times as recurring themes. * This will generate a very helpful short summary of all the information in narrative form. You may want to save this somewhere. Using Chat GPT and AI to Generate Your 10 New Year's ResolutionsUsing all the information that Chat GPT now has, use this prompt to generate your 10 New Year's Resolutions: * Chat GPT Prompt:* Based off of all of the information contained within this entire chat, I wish to generate a bulleted list of 10 New Year's resolutions. Also include a short paragraph about each that emphasizes why this is important using specific examples from above, direct quotes when possible, and explain how these resolutions will improve my life. Make sure to use ALL of the information from all of the chats above and all of the feedback that was provided. * Save these New Year's resolutions for yourself. * Time for self reflection based on this data: * Which resolutions do you agree with? * Which resolutions do you disagree with? * Do you wish to change or modify any of the resolutions or add any new ones?* You can change and modify the New Year's Resolutions. Simply reply to Chat GPT with the new information and you can edit and modify them to create the final version that you prefer.Turning your 10 New Year's Resolutions Into Actionable HabitsNew Year's resolutions and Goals are kinda BS in my mind. They are too lofty and it's too hard to see the results every single day. What is much better is generating daily/weekly/monthly habits. As they say: “Show Me Your Habits and I'll Show You Your Future.”So now that we have the lofty “New Year's Resolutions list” - Let's generate the daily habits that can get you there. Here is how we use Chat GPT to do that. * Prompt for Chat GPT:* Based off of this new year's resolution list, I would like you to generate daily/weekly habits that I can develop that will align with my goals. I want your help in changing my daily practices so that they align with my long term goals. Please examine my new year's resolutions, and all the feedback from all of the chats above and create 5 habits that I should start immediately that will help me to achieve my lifelong goals. REMEMBER! You do NOT need to accept or agree with all the feedback that is given to you. It is important that you process and filter the feedback based upon your own goals and values. Not all feedback is created equally. Don't live your life based off of someone else's ideas of what you should be doing. This is to be used as a tool to recognize blind spots and opportunities for you to expand your thinking. You must always process this information through your own filter. That's it! Here is what you have accomplished with this process: * You have solicited feedback from your loved ones which shows them you care about their feedback and value them. * You have gained important insights about what you did well and what you can improve on. * You have thought hard and deeply about what you want to accomplish over the next year. * You have turned your new year's resolutions into actionable habit's that you can implement tomorrow and that can change and improve your life overtime. If you enjoyed this process or got any value out of it, I would greatly appreciate if you would let me know by replying to this email, sharing it with a friend, or posting it to social media. It would mean a lot to me. Thank you and here is to a great new year! With Love from Travis Stoliker.Thank you for reading Year Of The Opposite - Travis Stoliker's Substack. Organic chemistry lab partners, Hillary and Liz, had an immediate connection when they met at UMass Amherst, and what ensued is a forty year friendship that has withstood marriages, the birth of children, and busy careers.  So what do two dieticians do to spice up things up in midlife?  The funny and engaging duo writes a book and start broadcasting their health and wellness conversations from Hillary's kitchen on social media.  Co-authors, and long-time friends, Hillary Wright and Liz Ward, lay out a common sense eating plan that is not only effective but realistic.  The Menopause Diet Plan -  A Natural Guide to Managing Hormones, Health, and Happiness encourages a positive, fad-free approach to managing your physical and emotional health during perimenopause and menopause.  Their book highlights current scientific knowledge about the best diet and lifestyle choices to manage your weight, keep your heart, brain, and bones healthy, and decrease the risk for cancer and other chronic conditions.  It also offers natural strategies to help diminish hot flashes, manage sleep difficulties and mood swings, improve energy, and more. Is it really a diet or a research-based lifestyle once we hit midlife? In this episode Hillary, Liz and I discuss:Intermittent Fasting - do what is sustainable - 8/16 would require you to get all your calories within an 8 hour window and fasting for 16 hours. There is evidence that 10-12 hours of fasting can be beneficial.  Tip: Don't eat after dinner.  Dial-back on your food at dinner and spread your calories more evenly throughout the day to prevent evening binge eating.  Getting protein at every meal is key.Hillary and Liz are not fans of Keto.Alcohol - Research shows that women are drinking more post-Covid.  Recommend not drinking at all several days per week and limiting intake to one drink.  There is evidence that there is an increased risk of cancer with alcohol consumption.- shot and a half of liquor- 5 ozs. of wine-12 ozs. beer (not a higher alcohol craft beer)Macros and recommended percent of your diet - Protein 25-30%, Fat 20-25%, and Carbohydrates 40-45%Protein - We need more protein in midlife, not just for muscle but for bone health as well.  1.2 - 1.6 grams of protein/kg of weight.  Spread your protein out throughout the day.Prebiotics can be obtained through high fiber foods.  Examples: Asparagus, onions, and garlic.  Some foods rich in probiotics are yogurt, kefir, and kombucha.Calcium - Recommended 1200 mg/day with 15 mcg or 600 IU of vitamin DMagnesium is also important for bone health, as is exercise (resistance and weight training). What is in Hillary and Liz's shopping cart every week?Lots of fruits, veggies and leafy greensBeans and hummusMilk, cheese, eggs, and yogurtChicken, salmon, shrimp, canned tunaOatmealTea and coffeeDark chocolate and 80 calorie ice cream cones for Trader Joes :)You can find Hillary Wright and Liz Ward at:https://www.instagram.com/menopausedietplan/https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100042202248891The Menopause Diet Plan - A Natural Guide to Managing Hormones, Health, and Happiness is available at booksellers.  Follow Asking for a Friend on Social media outlets:https://www.instagram.com/askingforafriend_pod/https://www.facebook.com/askforafriendpod/Please provide a review and share. You're waiting for that coveted college acceptance letter and you get a deferral letter instead. Don't be deflated if you get a deferral, this is not necessarily the end of your college dreams. What is a deferral anyway? A deferral means the admissions office is waiting to make a decision perhaps past the regular decision deadline or if you have updated information to give them. A deferral is not optimal, but it is not a definite no. Tune in as Elizabeth and Chris break down this gray area of acceptance and offer things to consider if you find yourself in this situation.  3 Important things to consider if you get a deferral:Call an admission counselor for more information. If you are professional and courteous, you will get a forthright response about what you may need to do to get into the college. Tip: Don't have your parents call, you need to make the call. Demonstrate that you are ready to be an adult. New information might be needed. Sometimes a college wants to see new information such as an updated test scores, mid-term grades, or an updated letter of recommendation. If you opted out of an optional essay, the college might want you to fill it out in order to get more information about you. Use the deferral to demonstrate your interest. Sometimes colleges use deferrals to see how interested you are in the college, especially if you are in the lower half of the students they typically admit. They are looking to see if you are willing to put in the extra effort in order to gain acceptance. This is your chance to shine! The Admissions Club Podcast is your one-stop shop for all things college admissions, complete with a nostalgic 80s playlist and Gen X vibes. How to have a successful, happy marriage (and partnership) is the focus of this podcast mini-series. Many of our real estate training and coaching clients have asked us how to structure a business and marriage without one being at the cost of the other. Today's show is part 1 of 6. Let us know what you think about this topic and these points...we are considering writing a book about this topic.  “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is a success.” – Henry Ford "As iron sharpens iron one man sharpens another"  Proverbs 27:17 1 - Choose well in the first place. This means you have to discuss and at least mostly agree on basic things in life. Here are some things to consider: - Religion - Finances - Credit - Debt - Assets - Politics - How to handle each other's family - Plans for kids or no kids - Parenting styles - Mental and emotional health and history of mental health - Physical health and history of physical health - Education - Lifestyle expectations...describe your dream house and compare notes - Where you want to live geographically - Where do you want to travel. Question….did you download your fill-in-the-blank business and life plan yet? If not, no worries. We have done the hard work for you. Download your REAL ESTATE TREASURE MAP! Text HARRIS to 47372. Terms & Privacy: slkt.io/JWQ 2 - Realize that marriage is a constantly evolving relationship. How you feel about your spouse when you are newlyweds will not be the same in 3 years, 5 years, maybe even after a few months. That's normal. Be willing to evolve together.   3 - Don't hang out with people who have marriage issues. Birds of a feather flock together. You will absorb their stress and start inadvertently mirroring it in your own relationship. Tip: Don't have out with your single friends. Lean Body Buffalo Podcast
5 Flat Tummy Myths (and 3 Steps to Tight Abs)

Lean Body Buffalo Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 11, 2021 7:07

Myth #1: Do extra crunches to flatten your abs. Excessive crunches aren't the answer for tight abs. In order to achieve a toned look you'll have to focus on burning off the layer of fat that is covering up your tummy. Tip: Don't obsess about crunches - instead focus on fat burning. Myth #2: Take diet pills to speed results. I know it's so tempting! The ads make compelling claims about the power of popping a pill, but don't fall for it. There is no ‘magic pill'. Diet pills are more likely to burn through your pocketbook than to slim you down. Tip: Don't pop a pill - instead burn calories with intense exercise. Myth #3: Turn to packaged diet products to boost results. Don't fall for the foods that are packaged as ‘diet' or ‘weight loss' aids. Quite often these products are packed with refined sugar and other artificial ingredients that your body doesn't need, and certainly won't help you attain that tight tummy. Tip: Don't eat packaged diet foods - instead stick with nutritious whole foods. Myth #4: Avoid all carbohydrates in order to achieve tight abs. Carbohydrates have been given a bad rap, which is unfortunate because you can (and should) eat carbs while slimming down. The key is to stick with whole grains, oatmeal and brown rice while avoiding processed and refined flours and sugars. Tip: Don't give up all carbohydrates - instead stick with wholesome carbs. Myth #5: Starve the chub away. Trying to lose weight by starving yourself is not only ineffective it can also be dangerous. It may seem that severe calorie restriction would deliver the quickest weight loss, but your body is complex and by doing so you'll disrupt your metabolism and slow your results. Tip: Don't starve yourself - instead eat small wholesome meals throughout the day. Now that you know what not to do in order to achieve tight abs, it's time to go over your flat tummy game plan. Here's what you need to know in 3 simple steps: Step One: No more junk. The best way to do this is by purging your kitchen. Throw out the sugary, processed and fat-filled foods. Once the junk has been cleared out, don't buy any more of it. Remember that your beach-ready abs depend on what you eat – don't eat junk! Step Two: Eat whole foods. Replace the junk food in your life with plenty of the following: cooked and raw vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains, moderate amounts of seeds and nuts, lean meats and low fat dairy. Clean eating really is that simple. Step Three: Come train with me. This is the most obvious step. You're ready to get into great shape and I'm in a unique position to make that happen for you. Call or reply to this email to get started on an exercise plan that will get you those amazing abs.

The Amazon Files: The Real Truth About Selling Online

Continuing with our series about the very exciting and fun Q4 holiday season, today I'll be discussing some of the mistakes I've made in Q4 so that you can learn from them and avoid leaving money on the table like I did. I start with not ordering enough inventory, and share the story of my first Christmas tree bundle kit. I ordered conservatively, and of course, they sold out in three days! I lost a ton of profit because it was too late to order more supplies. Other mistakes to avoid are not preparing your seasonal products early enough, shipping late, focusing on toys, not selling on multiple platforms, and lowering your prices in a panic. Join me as I go into each of these blunders in great detail, and offer plenty of tips and tricks for what you can do instead to maximize your sales and profits in Q4, including using Amazon price alerts, paying attention to the numbers, focusing on evergreen items, and so much more.   One of my favorite mantras is that failure is better than regret. Remember that it's always better to take that leap and see what happens than to sit back and wonder what could have been. But luckily today's episode gives you all the tools you'll need to avoid common mistakes your competitors are not even aware of, and get the Jumpstart on your most successful Q4 yet!   If you want to learn more about exactly what to sell in Q4, and gain access to selling strategies, holiday action calendars with important dates and shipping deadlines, and join the Live Q&A session with me, the Bundle Queen, register for our Jumpstart class on July 28 at 8pm at MommyIncome.com/Jumpstart. Finally, don't forget to join our Facebook group with the code word #JUMPSTART, where you can learn from sellers helping sellers and participate in the conversation. Thanks for tuning in!   This week on the Amazon Files: We've got another Q4 episode for you in this series It's a crazy, busy time, but it can also be very stressful and today I'll share mistakes I've made in the past so that you can learn from them Join our Facebook group with the code word #JUMPSTART, where you can learn from sellers helping sellers and participate in the conversation You can also register for our live Jumpstart webinar, which takes place July 28, 2021 at 8pm One of the first mistakes I've made in Q4 is not ordering enough inventory Failure is better than regret - I would rather jump in and see what happens than sit back and wonder what could have happened My story about a small Christmas tree bundle - no one else was selling these, and we were not sure whether they were going to be successful We were scared and only ordered 24 We sold out in 3 days and couldn't order more supplies Don't be afraid to order plenty - even if you have inventory left over, you can still sell them next year Look at the data and trust the facts Tip: Tablecloths and centerpieces sell very well for Thanksgiving and Christmas My second mistake was under-ordering inventory for a tablecloth and centerpiece set We took a chance on ordering retail arbitrage, and it arrived December 27 - we were stuck with it until the following season Ship early and order enough inventory to get you through the season Timing of specific inventory is essential As things open up after the pandemic, events will start again, which opens up a whole world of products you can sell Another mistake to avoid is focusing on toys - we think because it's the holidays, that the biggest sellers will be toys for kids, but most products people buy in Q4 are not for children Tip: Don't forget about New Year's Eve as a holiday people will want to shop for as well (new clothes, decorations, party supplies) Another mistake is not selling on multiple platforms - open your sales up to Etsy, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark Sometimes people pay more on eBay than they would on Amazon because they're not checking other platforms, especially when it comes to “new old stock,” items that have been discontinued that someone has just rediscovered Avoid chasing trends and focus on evergreen items Pay attention to pricing - if you have the only luxury item left, people will pay whatever you're asking and it's okay to mark up your price slightly  This is not price gouging - it's business Use an automatic repricer, check your prices regularly Do not lower your price -  many people panic in Q4 if items are not selling and they end up selling them at a loss Hold out for the big spenders - there will always be someone out there who is willing to pay what you're asking if they want that item badly enough Raise your price when it comes to supply and demand Pay attention to little details that your competitors are not keeping an eye on If they run out of supplies, you become the only one with that inventory and you can control the price   “If you have inventory left, you have an asset you can sell, even if it's a breakeven. So a mistake to avoid is to look at the data, do the research on the comparables, trust the facts.” - Kristin Ostrander   Quotes: “I wanted to share with you some of my mistakes that I've made during Q4 that I don't want you to make because they cost money.”    “I honestly believe that failure is better than regret. That is really just my mantra right now.”   “We're like, Okay, we're not going to spend that much, we're not going to break the bank on these things. It's a new bundle. We sold out in three days. And we couldn't get more.”   “So mistake to avoid - don't be scared to pony up. Because here's the other thing: Not only did we have two full months of Q4 left, but we could have sold them a year afterwards.”   “Sometimes the reward is better than the risk.”   “There's always ways to get rid of inventory, but you can't sell what you didn't buy.”   “Numbers tell the truth. And if there's not a whole lot to compare it to because you're doing a fresh new bundle, then trust all the numbers surrounding it and make a good decision. Never spend more than 20% of your budget on any one thing.”   “The moral of that story is ship stuff early and buy enough inventory to get you through the season. Make an educated guess, based on the data.”   “It's one of those things where you've got to get that stuff in early, thinking about when the customer is going to use it and how long do you have to send it in? So timing of specific inventory is essential.”    “Early on in my Amazon selling career, I specialized in toys… I left so much money on the table because I just didn't pay attention to other products. I was just all about the toys, all about the trends, all about the characters, all about those different things. And it took me several years to realize...most of the stuff I personally buy for the holidays are not for children.”   “Don't think for a second that if you don't sell toys, you're somehow missing out on Q4, because there's a boatload more things to sell than that.”   “If you have things to sell that you're trying to get rid of, or just even used items, if you're not cross-listing popular or rare items on multiple platforms, you could be losing a lot of money.”   “Make sure that you're cross-listing, cross-promoting and giving yourself an opportunity to sell wherever you can.”   “You don't price gouge on gasoline, or hand sanitizer during a pandemic, or food or toilet paper, those kinds of necessity type items. But when you're talking about a luxury toy item, there's no such thing as price gouging. It's called Supply and Demand. If you have the only inventory left, it's called Name Your Price.”   “It's Supply and Demand. My price goes up when the demand goes up and supply goes down. So if you have the lion's share of the supply, you get to control the price.”   “Set up pricing alerts and keep up with pricing alerts on Amazon. So something that's like, Notify me when this goes out of stock.”   “Most people in Q4 panic and they start lowering their prices thinking, Oh my gosh, I have a hundred of these left and I'm not going to sell them, and they start lowering their prices. And all of a sudden, they sell them all at a loss when you don't have to.”   “Hold out for the big spenders.”   “So people will pay. And people pay big money and spend big money during Q4, because sometimes that's the only time a year they really ever give gifts to people, and they want to be high rollers.”    “I raised the price of that item 10 more dollars than what I was selling for before. Why? Because Supply and Demand. My other competitors didn't order enough inventory. They ran out. They didn't anticipate this supply issue. And I got to make 10 more dollars.”   “Y'all, I don't want to make a quick dollar. I want to make a slow million.”   “So again, upping your prices, not panicking and lowering prices, selling on multiple platforms, not focusing all on toys for Q4. You don't even have to sell one toy. Don't get late shipments and don't chance it or risk it when it comes to that.”    Related Content:   Q4 Jumpstart Class Confident Wholesale Bundlers Workshop - Coupon code: workshop50 Wholesale Bundle System MerchantWords Email questions Learn With Us Coaching      Grow Your Amazon Business! Recorded June 20 , 2021In this episode we welcome back guest, Ren Jones of Fitness Jones Training to help us understand how to simplify the process of reaching our fitness goals. To be honest, we needed convincing that simplifying fitness was actually a thing. We were not disappointed.   You HAVE to listen to this episode to get the full comedic effect of the banter between the three of us but I'll let you in on some of the must-have takeaways from this episode.First of all it helps to understand how we tend to think about fitness.  The harder your exercise regimen  sounds the more it will garner support on social media. However, Ren explained that its actually a selection of simple actions  done consistently that ultimately lead to success.  Sounds too good to be true right? I thought so too, but in truth it seems we are wired to get in our own way. Here are some simple tips for getting out of our on way to finding fitness success:1) We tend to think  that starting with extreme exercise routines will produce the results we want, however it most often leads to us getting overwhelmed quitting all together. Tip: Start with a simple task of moving more than you usually do, then when that becomes a habit you can start increasing the intensity. 2) If we spend a lot of time thinking about losing weight, then, when we finally decide to get started, we counterbalance that procrastination with impatience. That leads us to looking for something intense and complex to do for our new exercise routine.Tip: See the tip above.3) We believe we need an extreme diet to see progress. This tends to look like grass smoothies and  water fasts. Tip: Add 4 to 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Most importantly, you should eat slowly and stop when you feel full.  4) We quickly get bored when we become accustomed to our fitness routine and begin to look for more complexity as a solution.  Increasing complexity too soon will invariably throw you off track and could create setbacks in your progress.Tip: Don't sacrifice success for novelty. Get a trusted trainer to set, monitor, and adjust your routine as appropriate and then trust the process. Also, see the very first tip.Guest Quotes:We like to brag about the super hard -ish we are doing. Nobody's going to go on social media and brag to say 'I walked for 20 minutes today.' You won't get no likes for that! Simple is not great for social media but it works. We feel like success comes at the hand of difficulty. If you don't understand the process of  what you are doing and how to document progress in it, you will default to difficulty as a means of telling yourself its working. We try to start with the intensity first and build a very, very intense thing into a habit and it just doesn't work that way. It's not a great way to build a habit. We have a mistrust of simplicity in terms of getting us to a goal.A good coach is going to provide an appropriate solution for the population they work with.Everyone does better when they move more.Mentions:GuestInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/fitnessjonestraining/Podcast/Website: fitnessjonestraining.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/fitnessjonesurl: Book - Atomic Habitsurl: Book - The Four Agreements url: Book - Emotional Agility Please support our podcast:Please rate/review, subscribe and share!!Cashapp:$GirrrlPodcastDonate: PatreonHave a question or topic you want us to talk about? Episode Title: Helping the Hangry II – Continuing Interview with Katie Hart, LMHC, Certified Nutritionist   Intro: Katie is the founder of Hartsspace Mental Health and Nutrition. She believes in a whole person approach to wellness, and takes an innovative and individualized approach to providing health and wellness to each of her clients. She provides a variety of different options to help her clients manage their overall physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.   We’ll listen as Katie talks about the physiology of hunger, and how it works in the mind and the body to create the condition of “Hangry,” which is a combination of “Hunger” and “Anger.” This episode will help you become more aware of how “Hangry” can show up in your life and increase the chaos of your mind. Katie will also offer some mental health and nutrition tips, tools and techniques to help you prevent and cope with the condition of “Hangry,” when it shows up as chaos in your life.   How blood sugar levels (lifts and dips) contribute to the “Hangry” chaos of the mind   Think of cookies or rice: You can eat 5 cookies (or 3 cups of rice) and have a HUGE blood sugar lift, but then also experience a proportionate blood sugar dip afterward, which is harder on your system.   Alternatively, you can keep the cookies and rice (remember, there are no good or bad foods!) but decrease the quantity to avoid the HUGE blood sugar lift and dip).   Eating 2 cookies (as opposed to 5) and eating 1 cup of rice (as opposed to 3) can help you better regulate and balance your blood sugar and avoid being “Hangry”.   TIP: Don’t label foods as “Good” or “Bad.” All foods fit!   It’s about proper balance and good blood sugar regulation for optimal nutrition and mental health.   When your blood sugar is too low or too high it “Wakes up the Hangry Monster”   Waking up the Hangry Monsters increases the chaos of your mind   TIP: When you DO become out of balance in your blood sugar, you can stay regulated through the practice of mindfulness. Knowing what works well with YOUR system is key! We are bombarded about what we need to do with our diets, and it gets complicated and confusing. There is not one way to do things. We’re all different, and there is no one right fix for everyone.   Notice what works for you, and your system, and practice doing that to regulate “Hangry.”   Tips and tools and cope with “Hangry”   Preventative Strategy: Have a good foundational knowledge of nutrition and balance proteins, fats and carbs in your diet to help you regulate blood sugar and emotions.   Approach any food or emotional issue from a place of non-judgmental understanding: You can be healed, and you are not alone!   To the people who DON’T notice hunger in the body: Pay attention to what you eat in a more calculated way, using facts and the “appears reasonable” test about when you last ate.   Put yourself on a schedule and follow a Dietician’s guidelines or plan until you CAN feel hunger and fullness.   Do a “Body Scan,” which includes noticing what parts of your body feels uncomfortable, and have pain or tension   Approach every feeling with curiosity. Identify emotions and do a quick evaluation of the situation, your thoughts and your feelings. Decide what you will do using your knowledge of nutrition, blood sugar, and what you are thinking and feeling.   To the people who are NOT ON THE GO and feeling Hangry   Get the body regulating blood sugar. You can play around with “less of this” or “more of that” and think of alternatives to balance protein, carbs and fats each time you eat.   Work with your mindset and dispelling myths about food and your body: The fat on your body isn’t the same as the fat you eat attention to what you eat in a more calculated way, using facts and the “appears reasonable” test about when you last ate. To the people who are ON THE GO and feeling Hangry   Pre-plan – prepare foods that have a balance of ALL (proteins, carbs and fats)   Examples are: Nuts. Beans. Dried Chicpeas. Hummus. Peanut butter. Portable and prepackaged foods that include hummus, vegetables, crackers, cheese, guacamole.   Prepare a “snack bag,” of things to have on hand to use when you need to have your blood sugar boosted in an effective way for you. knowledge of nutrition, blood sugar, and what you are thinking and feeling.   Other tips   Don’t let your blood sugar get too low so that emotional responses to food will happen You can have a snack before a meal, ifthis will help you regulate your blood sugar and not overeat Make “Rational decisions” before you enjoy your eating experience.   Thank you Katie, for sharing your knowledge with us! You’ve probably noticed … podcasting isn’t coming. It’s here. Why is podcasting so big? And exactly how does it benefit the B2B space, specifically B2B sellers and marketers? Great questions. Lindsay Tjepkema has great answers. She has years of experience in marketing and branding with HUMANeX Ventures, Maestro, Emarsys, and her own company, Blueprint Marketing (just to name a few). She also hosted her own podcast at Emarsys called Marketer + Machine podcast. While she was hosting, it dawned on her — podcasting is a huge opportunity for marketers. But it can be challenging. So she set out and founded her own B2B podcasting platform called Casted. Lindsay came on our podcast, B2B Growth, to tell us why podcasting is the future for B2B. What we talked about: Content machine: First, blog, then, podcast Blog strategy: Post regularly (weekly blog) High-quality content  Grow audience Amplification, more customer intel & more ideation Podcasting amplifies your content machine  Ideation & collaboration Customer intel  Podcasting is insanely fun The Golden Age of radio is back (sort of) Podcasting is meaningful to your guests Tip: Don’t only go for the “GaryVees” or the Seth Godins (go for the people on the frontline) Tip: it is a little more work than you may think Tip: think outside the audio box B2B podcasting Want to get a no-fluff email that boils down our 3 biggest takeaways from an entire week of B2B Growth episodes? Increasingly, there are great options where everyday Kiwi's can partake of the benefits of property investment without directly holding it.We're moving, quickly, into a world where accessibility to traditional assets is under pressure. SEO is the current trend that online businesses utilize to get more leads and scale. However, I’ll be the first to admit that SEO is not my specialty. But although I’ve got a very limited understanding of making SEO work, a good friend of mine is an absolute expert at it. James Norquay, the owner of Prosperity Media, runs an SEO agency that offers all things SEO. In today’s episode, he will be walking us through the process of making SEO work in your favour. We will be talking about the do’s and don’ts of SEO—making sure it all works well for you in the long run. If you’re interested in learning about SEO or know someone who is, don’t hesitate to tune in to this value-adding episode.   James’ Backstory (3:01) James started making money online around 14 years ago. James started an SEO team for a large media agency in Sydney back in 2008-2009. Late 2012-Early 2013, James started Prosperity Media. Basic “to-dos” for Small Business Owners to Improve Their SEO (6:18) For small business owners with little budget, start with a basic site audit. Ensure that your website is indexed. Get an SSL certificate. Set up your site on Google My Business. Fix technical issues, and start building relevant landing pages, do keyword research. Set up tracking, start monitoring things. SEO Factors (8:07) On-Site (technical setup, content, schema markup, etc.) Off-Site (brand mentions, backlinks) The basic setup matters because if you don’t have it, everything else you’re doing doesn’t matter. One big mistake is spending too much on ads but having little to no budget for SEO. The budget should go mostly to paid advertising and organic SEO channels because that’s where the highest ROI comes from. Index (10:12) A “no index tag” is a preventive measure that web developers use to stop Google from indexing your website. Error: Going live with your site but forgetting to take the “no index tag” down. Not taking the tag down means you won’t be getting any traffic to your site. Common Mistakes in Starter Websites (11:21) Using large images. Larger images mean a slower website.  Tip: Resize your images to get faster site speed. Not setting up your site on Google My Business. Tip: Don’t be spam heavy. Talk to a professional. Tip: DON’T put white text on a white background; this will easily penalize your site. Tip: Don’t “keyword stuff,” Google quickly detects that. Tip: DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAY TO AVOID GETTING PENALTIES FROM GOOGLE. Most Effective Way to Increase Results from SEO According to James (17:27) It depends on the vertical that the client wants to work in. It depends on the competitiveness of the niche. New websites take longer to see results because you have to build trust by building the authority of the site. TIP: Pick people who are the right fit for what you’re doing. Budgeting: How much budget should go to SEO in the overall marketing mix? (25:06) Traditionally, SEO gets a smaller portion of the pie when it comes to budgeting. Some clients are entirely dependent on SEO, like large affiliate clients and crypto clients. You have to be able to see the value in SEO as you could be making excellent ROI from it. What is the difference between PPC and SEO? James shares how he gets the big businesses (30:23) Attending events. Some clients come from SEO traffic. The relationship is KEY. Speak at events, be known for a certain thing. Don’t try to be an expert at everything; stay in your lane.   Our Guest: James Norquay is the founder and consulting director of Prosperity Media. James is an absolute expert at SEO. He has already helped quite a number of companies to grow through SEO. James’ company, Prosperity Media, strives to help their clients achieve success with their excellent customer service. Tamara K. Anderson interviews Jamie Middlecamp in the Stories of Hope in Hard Times Podcast. Jamie shares the 5 lessons she learned having a son with Down Syndrome. She also explains how God helped and gives IEP advice.Jamie’s BioWife and mother of three–her oldest has Down SyndromeMeme to her two treasuresLived most of her live in North West ArkansasAlso lived in a small town in North CarolinaWorked with children doing home therapy and as an autism specialistTeaches Pre-K at a Mother’s Day OutLoves serving in her churchLoves watching her kids to the things they love: baseball, soccer and Special OlympicsLoves the beach and has been swimming with dolphins and 4-wheelingJamie’s StoryAt the age of 18 Jamie found herself expecting. She married the father of her unborn baby and took very good care of herself during her pregnancy–just like overly cautious first-time mamas do. She had several ultrasounds throughout her pregnancy, and they were all normal. She gave birth to her first baby, an 8 pound 8 ounce boy who they named Tyler in February 1990. A couple of hours after he was born the medical staff took him back for routine tests. After about 4 hours they finally asked the nurse where their baby was and she told them that their pediatrician would be in soon to talk to them. At this point their minds just started going a thousand miles per hour wondering what could be wrong.Tyler’s DiagnosisWhen their pediatrician came in he told them that they had detected a heart defect in their son. So, they were going to run some more tests on him and have him go down to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Four hours later, their pediatrician returned, this time with their baby and confirmed that he did have heart problems which included several holes in his heart. He also was missing a valve that was connecting his chambers. The doctor also told them that this particular heart defect is associated with Down Syndrome, and that they suspected that he had Downs but they couldn’t confirm it yet.Jamie confesses that as they told her all of this information, she was more concerned about the heart defect. She had been blessed to grow up with some friends who had a baby with Down Syndrome so that wasn’t as scary to her. She felt shocked and scared, of course and they started praying.Their doctors were very shocked that she had a Down Syndrome baby at age 18–that is usually something that happens to 40-year-old women. So there was also some mom guilt associated with her son having Downs–even though she knew she couldn’t have changed anything genetically, she still felt guilty like maybe there was something she could have done to help Tyler be different. So, they sent them home with their baby with specific instructions to immediately return to the hospital if his lips started turning blue. Of course this made them scared to even sleep at night.Arkansas Children’s HospitalThey were also supposed to go to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in three days. Once they arrived they found out that Tyler’s jaundice was bad enough that they had to put him under the lights for a week before they could even look at his heart problem or do genetic testing for Downs. This turned their one day trip into a three week stay! They finally got the genetic testing back and the doctor confirmed that Tyler did indeed have Down Syndrome. This doctor also told them that their son would never read his name, ride a bike, go to public schools; the list went on. This made Jamie mad and she decided this doctor couldn’t tell her that her child was NOT going to do something. They may have swallowed half the pill when he was born knowing that he had heart problems, but the diagnosis was like getting punched in the stomach again. At 8 weeks, Tyler had major heart surgery and the doctors repaired his heart. This was a time of seeing how blessed they were even in their scary moments.Lessons LearnedLesson #1 Count Your BlessingsWhile they were at the hospital they met another little girl with Down Syndrome who was three and she was on her 17th surgery and has spent every single birthday in the hospital. So, even in her valley, Jamie felt like God was showing her that things could be worse and she should continue to count her blessings. She tried to always find something good within all the bad.Tyler recovered well from his heart surgery. They were at the hospital for 2 months, which was pretty remarkable considering all the work he had done.Lesson #2 The Importance of Early InterventionShortly after they were home Jamie contacted the Benton County Sunshine School. This school is an early intervention school for kiddos with special needs and they also have typical children there as well so that the special needs kiddos can interact with peers their same age.So, the Sunshine School did a home evaluation on Tyler and he qualified to start receiving therapy. Tyler started home therapy when he was three months old to help him learn simple things like tongue thrusting, head control and other simple things. The Sunshine School was very excited to be able to work with him when he was so young because the sooner they get started on therapy, the better it is for these kids.Watching and helping the therapists actually influenced Jamie’s career change. After graduating from high school she wanted to be a hairdresser, but now she decided that she wanted to work with special needs children. When Tyler turned 3 and began preschool at the Sunshine School, Jamie began working there as a home therapist.Lesson #3 Determination to Prove them WrongWhen someone tells you your child won’t do something–prove them wrong!A funny story about the genetics doctor that told them their son would never be able to do anything—he wanted a one-year-checkup with Tyler. Tyler walked into his office and the doctor handed Tyler a ball. Tyler threw the ball back to him and hit him right between the eyes. Then Jamie told him, “Don’t ever tell me my child won’t do something!” And they left and never went back. This is the story of Tyler’s life. He is very determined and capable. When he wants to do something he is going to do it. He went on to ride a bike, play softball, and basketball with the Special Olympics, he graduated from high school, and he has attended college courses at the community collegeJamie acknowledges that not every Downs child will be the same. They are going to function at different levels. She encourages people to find and embrace their children’s strengths–whether they had special needs or not.Lesson #4 PrayerWhen asked what her prayers were like upon her son’s diagnosis with a heart problem and with Down Syndrome, Jamie had some really good tips. She said she had learned in her prayer life that it is important to thank God first before asking him for something. For example, the doctors told Jamie that it was a miracle that Tyler was such a big baby or his heart would never have survived a vaginal birth. She thanked God that Tyler was alive. When it came to asking, she prayed that God would help them be the best parents they could be. They were new parents, and they needed guidance. Jamie said they basically told God that He gave them this child, and now they wanted to know what to do.Lesson #5 The InfluenceGod has used Tyler to influence many people over the course of his life. Jamie became his advocate. She had to fight tooth and nail to get him integrated into the public school classroom. To this day she keeps in contact with several of his teachers who have messaged her and told her what a blessing it was to have Tyler in their classrooms because he taught them to be more patient.Special needs kiddos have the amazing ability to teach parents, teachers, and anyone with whom they interact lessons they wouldn’t have learned any other way.Lesson #6 “Bad Moments Don’t Make Bad Mammas”One of Jamie’s favorite Bible Study authors is Lysa TerKeurst and she wrote this book/Bible Study called “Unglued.”In this Bible Study Lysa said, “Bad moments don’t make bad mammas.” This has become Jamie’s life quote–especially now that she is dealing with a 12-year-old pre-teen. We are all going to make mistakes–especially in parenting, but this doesn’t make us bad mammas.AdviceThere have been many occasions when Jamie has been asked to come and talk to the parents who have just found they have a baby with Down Syndrome. Jamie got her first phone call when Tyler was about three-years-old.Here are some of the things she wanted parents of Down Syndrome Children to know:It is hard to articulate how much love these kids have and their joy for life.Is it easy? No, but she doesn’t think it has been too much harder than raising her typical children. The doctors are going to tell you all the negative things. But remember the possibilities and Tyler throwing the ball at his genetics doctor. She encourages them to get their child early intervention.Sometimes when she visits parents it is easy, and other times they are not ready to hear what she has to say. They are still processing everything–that is okay. It takes times. She usually takes Tyler with her when she visits these families because it is amazing to watch him and see how well he communicates, walks and interacts.See the potential in every child. Now Jamie doesn’t take the credit for how well her son does. She gives the credit to God and the Sunshine School for helping him learn the skills he needed. She wouldn’t have known to teach him sign language to help him communicate at first.Jamie is also quick to remind people that “not all children with the same diagnosis are going to function at the same level.”Additional AdviceA week into parenthood Jamie’s pediatrician gave her some very good advice. He told her that you can take a normal child and not love or nurture them and they will have challenges. He also told them that they could take their son and love him and nurture him and watch as he becomes the best that he can be.It is also normal to grieve the “expected child” they pictured in their mind but don’t have. Be gentle as you process any child’s diagnosis. Anger is also a normal part of the grief process.Be sure to get help and therapy along the way. There is are so many specialists and therapists there to help you. Don’t ever feel like you have to go through this on your own. You will probably forge friendships with these people that help you raise your child. What Advice give to Moms and Dads as they go to IEPs?An IEP is an Individualized Education Plan. It is a legal document drawn up for special needs kiddos that details how the school will accommodate them and help them be successful in the classroom setting.“You will forever be your child’s voice, their #1 fan, their biggest advocate.”Do not be afraid–be bold. Let your wants and your child’s needs be known. Be aware it is a big table and you are at one end and the teachers and therapists are all at the other end.Example: At one of Tyler’s first IEP meetings in the public school they wanted to label him “mentally retarded.” Jamie told the IEP team that his diagnosis was Down Syndrome, not mentally retarded. Basically the school would get more money if he was labeled mentally retarded. Jamie said she would NOT agree to this, and so it didn’t go on Tyler’s IEP.3. As a parent, you have rights in the IEP meeting. Know your rights. You don’t have to sign the IEP if you don’t agree with it.4. The IEP can also be changed. The school fought Jamie on getting Tyler a 1-on-1 aide in the public schools because they thought he should be in a self-contained special needs classroom. But Jamie stood her ground and got his IEP changed so that he had a 1-on-1 aide.5. Request a draft of the IEP before you to the IEP meeting. This way you know what is going on and you can hammer out potential problems beforehand.6. You can bring someone with you for support so that you can have someone with you on your side of the table.Other Tips or ThoughtsSiblingsJamie and her husband had a daughter about 2 years after Tyler was born. The thing that was hard and frustrating about that was the doctors going on and on about all the testing that they needed to do.She finally had to tell the doctors that if God wanted to give her another child with special needs that she was okay with it. All of their testing was not going to change her mind. The doctors freaked out even more when she chose to have her third child at age 35. She says they acted like she had lost her mind!Tip: Don’t be afraid to have more children after you have a special needs child. Both of Jamie’s subsequent children were typical children.Jamie’s daughter Bailey, even though she was two years younger than Tyler, was always more a big sister. She did get used to helping her mom. They tried to never treat their children any differently one from another.Jamie recently asked Bailey if she felt that she had asked too much of her growing up and having a sibling with special needs. Bailey responded, “Oh no, mom, you did fine.”The nice thing about siblings of special needs kiddos is they are really not afraid to help anyone with special needs. Their heart seem to be bigger and they see all children differently. They have more of a sensitivity to the special needs population and they can see the good in them.Favorite Bible VerseJeremiah 29:11 Is Jamie’s life verse. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for welfare and not for evil to give you a future and a hope. This verse gives her hope. She knows that God knows Tyler’s future. When she fears for the future, Jamie places her hope in the Lord. There are times when Jamie has felt hopeless and helpless, but when she let go and let God it all usually works out.Final ThoughtsJamie remembers bawling her eyes out at IEP meeting when the school told her that he son was at a 3-year-old level. At times like that she reminds herself that Tyler is doing more than the genetics doctor told her he would ever do.At age 29, Tyler now has a checking account, a cell phone, and he is doing great things.Jamie feels that the reason that he is doing so well is because she gave him to God as a child. She knows she is Tyler’s mother here on earth, but she knows he is really God’s child. So, she told God that He was going to have to help her know how to parent His child. As she gained that perspective, Jamie felt that some of the pressure came off of her as a mom. God was in charge. When have you felt God guiding you as you raise your child?Growing up it was easier to help him make decisions, but now that he is over age 18, they haven’t been able to get guardianship of Tyler. He is just too high functioning. At this point Jamie has had to turn it over to God because she can’t help him as much as she used to.Tyler especially enjoyed going to college when they were in North Carolina. They paired him up with a college student who was going into Special Education, and they would take him around to his classes.  He loved this!He has also been able to work at places like Pizza Hut and the movie theater.Suggested ResourcesGoogleJamie admits she is a Google nerd. If she or her family members ever get any kind of diagnosis, she loves coming home and reading all she can to learn about it.For those who have young children who have just received a diagnosis, Jamie encourages you to get early intervention as soon as possible. You can find out about this through the public school system or your pediatrician. The other recommendation is to build your tribe of people who will help you. Find others with the same diagnosis that you can chat with.Build a TribeSeveral months after Tyler was born they went to a 4th of July fireworks celebration. At that even she met 3 families that had children with Down Syndrome. She and one of the mothers really connected that night and they have become really good friends, and Tyler and their son have also become really good friends. So, don’t be afraid to reach out to other families and say, “Hey, I’m new to this and I need some help.”The beauty of learning about a diagnosis both online and by talking to others helps the fear of that diagnosis disappear. So, connect with others. Get human interaction. Don’t hole up and hibernate. Get involved with others.Encouraging Children to Reach Their Full PotentialAnother tip is to let your child get involved with whatever they are passionate about. Tyler was the manager of his high school’s basketball team. The final game of his senior year, they put him in to play, and EVERYONE was cheering for him–even the other team. There wasn’t a dry eye in that entire room! It was a sweet experience. That is the power of having these special needs kids. They can touch even the toughest teenagers. “They love so big!”That is probably what Jamie would love for every parent to know upon diagnosis, is that even though it can be so hard, these kids love so purely and so big! Those moments make it worth it.So, find your child’s strength and help them be the best they can be. Find what they love and go with it!Jamie’s Contact Infohttps://www.facebook.com/jamie.cobbmiddlecampJamie’s email is also available upon request. The back-to-school rush has come and gone! Now it's time to figure out how to promote our resources for the rest of the year. Today we're talking about leveraging promotions. And, we're continuing the conversation in our Mastermind group. Head over there to share what works for you and hear what others are saying: www.growwithusmastermind.com. Happy back to school! It's that busy time of year where everyone's adjusting to new schedules. But, the back-to-school sales rush is over which leaves us TpTers asking "What now?" The back-to-school time is great for sales as teachers prepare for their classes, but it's also a time when it's easy to get lost in the crowd. There are tons of sales, giveaways, and promotions going on. This is one of the reasons why it's great to continue doing promotions throughout the year. Angie and I are working on creating our promotion schedule for the year. Teachers are really appreciative of fun giveaways and promotions throughout the year, so don't think you have to wait until the next big holiday or TpT sale to promote your products. We're going to give you insights on both group promotions and individual promotions and share what's worked well for us. Group promotions To be honest, I have a love-hate relationship with group promotions. I love how great they are at getting me in front of new people. And, it's a really affordable way to do that because you can pitch in some money instead of having to do all the advertising on your own. But, they can be a lot of work, especially if the organizer isn't really organized. Over the past five years, I've really learned a lot from the different group promotions that I've been a part of. I've also learned that I like to be the one organizing them because I'm a bit of a control freak. The simpler they are, the easier they are to be a part of. But, in all honesty, they can be fun to participate in and when run well, they can give you great results. Tip: Find sellers with similar grade levels as you Angie and I have both found that it's really helpful to work with other sellers that focus on the same grade levels as you. This gives you similar audiences which is exactly what you want when doing a group promotion. The more targeted you are, the more likely you are to get in front of an audience that will join your lists and buy your products and resources. I know some TpT sellers also like to pay attention to what specialties the other sellers in a group has as well. If you all focus on a different area there is less competition among the group. You don't really want competing resources within a promotion. Tip: Look at past performance Before joining a group, you want to make sure that the other sellers in the group participate and follow through on the things they're supposed to do for the promotion. You don't want to join with other sellers that aren't going to share the posts with their group. And, you'd be surprised how many people this really is. Check to see how they performed in other group promotions they were a part of. Did they post the images to their platforms? Did they comment on the others? There are some people that participate 110% and then there are others that have great followings but don't really participate. Tip: Don't do ALL promotions with the same group If you only work with the same group over and over again you're going to limit your reach. You'll only be getting in front of the same people over and over again. The last promotion that Angie and I did, we worked with some new people from the group and it turned out great. If you do a few a year with the same group and spread it out over the course of the year then you'll most likely be fine. Both you and the other sellers will have grown your audience in between the promotions, so there will still be new eyes seeing your stuff.

3 Misunderstood Keys To Grow Past 7 Figures On Amazon #TheOnePercent

Are you in the low 7 figures, and a bit stuck? You might've become an Amazon channel manager. Ryan explains how to get off the hamster wheel and build up and past 7 figures.   Key takeaways The three parts of business are pretty straightforward: 1. Sales channel, 2. Product and 3. Audience. Uniting these three aspects is the key to propelling your brand past 7 figures. Here's how.   BUSINESS PART 1 [6:13] Sales channel — where are your sales coming from? For most of the world, the answer is not Amazon…   You are a channel manager. On a hamster wheel. [9:52] Somewhere in the low seven figures lives the hamster wheel in which you can't grow as fast as you used to and you can't do all of the work alone. That's when you know you're an Amazon channel manager. It's humbling.   Tip: Don't fall into the trap of then becoming a — let's say — Shopify channel manager on top of an Amazon one…   Getting out of the wheel will suck [13:04] There was a time, when you just started your business when you sucked at it. But you got better. Now you're good, the only thing that threatens you is if Amazon makes a change… So you protect your investment and you enter defense mode.   The only way out of defense mode is to hire better people who do specific things better than you.   Tip: After 180 days if a new hiree is not out-earning you, they may be the wrong person for the job.   Now you can focus less on working in and more on working on your company...   BUSINESS PART 2 [15:25] Products! No one got big, got rich or got famous selling the same product as everybody else. This is the unhappy place where we're trying to outreview our competitors, over analyse our keywords and wage price wars.   Risky business [24:52] If you're over a million, it's time to take some risks on products: create a product people actually want, not what everyone else is white labelling from Alibaba.   More risk = more reward.   So, your sales channel is optimized and you have a unique product in the marketplace: you are ready to jump off the hamster wheel and into the big league.   BUSINESS PART 3 [26:38] Audience! Ryan's favorite audience builder is currently search engine optimization — what's old is new again — in fact all of his companies were built on search engine optimisation and email.   The hero's journey [31:35] Whatever you sell, you should always remember that it's about the people who buy your product and how it helps them in their journey: people don't care about you or your business, they care about themselves. They are the hero. They are Luke Skywalker.   You are not the hero, neither is your business. You are Yoda, you serve the hero.   Tip: Add an email insert into your packaging, start turning sales into CUSTOMERS.   There is a huge difference between a sale and a customer, and the latter is where real value is built…   Ryan's closing tip 1 [42:21] You are at a million or up and can't pinpoint what your business' purpose is — aside from more sales — you are in trouble. Figure out who you are.   Ryan's closing tip 2 [47:09] Where is you time and focus going? Outsource all outsourceable tasks and spearhead new initiatives — stop being the operator of all things and start being the leader of all things.   Thanks for listening!

Do our male listeners still use shaving cream to shave their faces? You might want to stop and hear what Brian uses every morning. Just give it a try, you can thank us later! Nina & Brian go heavy on the topic of "Manifesting" or "The Law of Attraction, and how they each go about it in their daily lives. It's changed their lives forever and they wish to share these techniques with anyone & everyone. By learning the secrets of manifesting, you can begin to change your thoughts and your life. You can remain focused on what you want to happen. And soon, your greatest desires will manifest. You've probably noticed that you're constantly thinking about something – about where you want to go or what you want to achieve. Your mind is always thinking and manifesting something. That's why it's so important to know exactly how to use your manifesting power. Everything happening in your life is a reflection of what is happening inside of you. Whatever you focus on will take shape and manifest into your daily life. Of course, you know that not everything you think about manifests. Otherwise, every time you thought about an elephant, one would appear before your very eyes. That's because the speed at which your thoughts manifest depends on how much resistance you have to their actual appearance in your reality. Resistance is why no matter how much you may think about what you want, it doesn't appear. Your resistance doesn't allow it. Until you get rid of the resistance, your desires won't manifest. But as you eliminate resistance, your desires will manifest faster and easier…sometimes manifesting instantly! So ask yourself what are you thinking about now? What is manifesting in your life? Three Elements of Manifesting: What you think about, you bring about We all have a vibration or frequency that welcomes or blocks abundance. This could be true love, happiness, peace of mind, wealth, joy, etc. even a new car The power of the subconscious mind is that it manifests (anything) and it is the thing that is at work behind the scenes. It's more powerful than we are led to believe. Tip: Don’t mistake what we are saying here for “all I have to do is think and it’ll happen.” No, you have to take action too. You have to learn to listen to your intuition too. It’s not magic. Books: The Power of the Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy The Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

He talks about addiction medicine, his advice to teens about marijuana use, a mindfulness practice involving washing your hands, Why life doesn't end with medical school, and what makes Nicholas Chadi feel fulfilled.   Show Notes: ● Dr. Nicholas Chadi M.D is a pediatrician that specializes in Adolescent Medicine and is the first pediatric addiction medicine fellow in North America. ● Dr. Chadi is also a musician, writer, a researcher, a mindfulness practitioner provider, and a sports enthusiast. ● His parents bought the camp he used to work at as a team, and still run it in Quebec. ● Talking about marijuana legalization is healthy, but it is how we talk about it that matters. There needs to be more education about it to make teens more aware of the risks.   ● “The S.T.O.P Practice” is recommended for anxiety and tension which stands for: Stop, Take 3 Breaths, Observe how the air coming into your mouth feels, and think about how you will Proceed with the rest of your day. ● You can anchor this moment by washing your hands mindfully, being focused on this process to stay more present. ● One of his hardest decisions was to choose between advanced music study (piano, Classical, Jazz) and medical school. ● Music makes Dr. Chadi more relaxed, more present, and a more passionate physician. ● By breaking medical study with his practice of music it proved to be more energizing and provided balance. ● Tip: Don't suppress your creativity by only focusing on the logic required for medicine. ● Scheduling and discipline are crucial to balancing your career with your personal life.   Resources Mentioned: ● The Happy Doc – Website for The Happy Doc ● Dr. Taylor Brana – LinkedIn for host Dr. Taylor Brana ● Locumstory.com – Website for Locumstory.com ● Nicholas Chadi – Website for Nicholas Chadi M.D. ● Twitter –Nicholas Chadi M.D. on Twitter

“We should not fear an obsession for building a great and free life…..vision trumps reality; dreams have more weight than circumstances because circumstances are alterable with enough sweat and toil and dedication.”~~Brendon Burchard ‘The Motivation Manifesto' As I was looking for something to speak upon, I opened up to the first part of the quote above. As I skimmed through the remainder of the book to see what I highlighted that grabbed my attention as I read through this book, I found the second part of the above piece. So, what does all this mean? The first part has to do with wanting more out of life. There are many of us that want more out of life and are afraid to openly say so. It may be material, such as cars, a home, or something as simple as a nice pair of sunglasses. The other aspect may be the freedom to travel wherever and whenever we want to. The second part of this has to deal with realizing our current circumstances do not reflect our lives as a whole. If life is great at this moment, this will not always be the case if we choose to settle once we feel we've reached our destination. The other aspect is that if life causes us to feel as it is against who we are and what we want, this can be altered through intentional effort to work ourselves out of the hole we've fallen into. The fear of obsession for wanting more for ourselves may bring guilt to us as we realize that what we have in our current situation is not satisfying. This means acknowledging that some of our friends and family who are content and lack drive might be left behind in our journey towards our dreams. It might mean that we've failed many times over up till now, and this could continue if we make another attempt to step away towards who we want to be. We all do things that we wish we had not done. Those are usually called “Learning Experiences,” unless the event creates a catastrophic backlash or questions the leader’s integrity. We can use whatever words we want to use, however, in some circumstances those words might create negative results that diminish the credibility of the leader. Choice of words is power, and choice of words is integrity, especially for the entrepreneur and thought leader who must establish a position of influence to support a niche. Here is my list of behaviors that bring down leaders in any type of organization: Ignoring Signs of Problems: There are many reasons that leaders don’t respond to issues that arise in day-to-day activities. First, the leader is unsure of what to do when surprised by unexpected actions or results. The top reason I observe for leaders at any level not responding to unacceptable behaviors or actions is a fear of not being liked. The script that leaders play to themselves is that they must be liked for people to want to follow them. That’s not true. It’s important for people to respect the leader and trust in the leader’s abilities in order to be an active participant. A musical analogy for this dynamic is this: the conductor stops the rehearsal and points out that the trumpets are too loud and that the flutes are not in tune. The conductor presents these as facts and not as a personal criticism. The conductor then defines the prescription to the problem as follows: trumpets, take the dynamics down one level and flutes, you are slightly flat. The players are not offended and the rest of the orchestra is not horrified. It’s just the reverse. If the conductor did not address the problems and provide the solution, then they would be considered a poor leader. Leaders in business could benefit from this model. Define the problem. Address it as soon as possible. Be factual and specific in the analysis of the problem as well as the solution. It’s possible because the orchestra has established a culture of high-performance standards that everyone understands and supports. Tip: Deal with the problem as soon as it is noticed or the problem only gets worse, costs money, wastes time, and damages relationships. Cutting off Team Members with Ideas: It’s only the insecure leader who doesn’t want to gain the perspective of others on the team. If the leader can’t respect the opinion of team members, then it might time to get a new team. Tip: Don’t attempt to be right all the time; instead, work to make others always right. This way time and energy are available to focus on the top leadership priorities that only the top leader can do. Taking Back a Delegated Project: Nothing is more damaging to team spirit and personal initiative than the leader who takes back a project or assignment to do themselves. There are two messages implied in this action: 1) the person to whom it has been assigned is not capable of successfully completing the project; or 2) that there is no chance of anyone other than the leader being successful. This is a no-win action. There is a full set of leadership competencies tied to delegation. Most leaders do not even know that these competencies exist and certainly don’t know that they are needed. Tip: Learn about the reciprocity of leadership over-functioning and team under-functioning. Teams under-function mostly because the leader does it all. What’s the point of even trying? Valuing Results and Not Individuals: Effective leadership depends on effective relationships. Value results. Emphasize results. Focus on results. And constantly work on relationships. Tip: Learn to develop healthy boundaries so relationships don’t depend on people “liking” the leader, but understanding roles and responsibilities along with the leader’s vision for the organization. People must understand the “why” before they care about the “what.” Be good at defining the “why.” Denying the Problems that You Created: My assessment of many problems in any group emotional system, especially in business, is that the leader unknowingly sets up problems and, because of their lack of awareness of their role in the problem, conflict, confusion, etc., they deny any part in the situation. That’s simply a gap in knowledge and awareness for the leader. First of all, in any situation involving conflict, confusion, and team dysfunction, everyone plays a role. It’s usually the leader who has the primary role in the situation. In order to avoid making things worse, look in the mirror before blaming others for the problem. Having a personal leadership coach who is aware of the subtle interactions in group emotional systems has been a real value to me in my work. I coach entrepreneurs and corporate executives, and my ability to provide value to others is greatly enhanced by having a coach myself. As Covey says in his7 Habits of Highly Effective People, “Sharpen the Saw.” Tip: Always work on relationships and always work on yourself - for both skills and systems. In summary, we as leaders cannot point fingers for failure anywhere other than at ourselves. Certainly, we have others who challenge us and economic trends that cause us to rethink strategies, but our response either elevates us as leaders or makes those situations worse. Continuing to work on personal capacity building, and knowledge about organizational functioning as group emotional process, will guide us in managing self and in making better decisions. This is especially true for start-up businesses and early-stage entrepreneurs who have the opportunity to build and lead an efficient collaborative culture and to embed the excellence of performance into that culture, to inspire and equip leaders on teams to surpass expectations.

This blast from the past episode comes from the digitally remastered Genealogy Gems Podcast episodes 11 and 12 (originally recorded in 2007). They are now interwoven with fresh narration; below you'll find all-new show notes. Google Image searches: Updated tips to watch a short new tutorial video on using Google Images to find images for your genealogy research. Conduct an initial search using the search terms you want. The Image category (along with other categories) will appear on the screen along with your search results. For images of people: enter name as search term in quotes: “Mark Twain.” If you have an unusual name or if you have extra time to scroll through results, enter the name without quotation marks. Other search terms to try: ancestral place names, tombstone, name of a building (school, church, etc.), the make and model of Grandpa's car, etc. Click on one of the image thumbnails to get to a highlight page (shown here) where you can visit the full webpage or view the image. If you click View images, you'll get the web address. To retrieve images that no longer appear at the expected URL: Click on View image to get the image URL. Copy the image's URL (Ctrl+C in Windows) and paste it (Ctrl+V) into your web browser to go to that image's page. When you click through, you're back in Web view. The first few search results should be from the website with the image you want. Click on a link that says “cache.” A cached version is an older version of the website (hopefully a version dated before the image was moved or removed). Glue the edges firmly. Turn the plate over to check the placement of images. Smooth using craft brush. Brush glue over the back of each photo. Turn the plate around so you can see the image from the front and work out the air bubbles. Continue to place the images until the entire plate is covered. Let it dry 24 hours.
