What holds many people back from getting plastic surgery? It's often the idea of recovery. The thought of stepping away from work or social activities can feel overwhelming, but everyone finds their own solution to the recovery puzzle when the timing and circumstances feel right. Spending too much time avoiding recovery can mean missing out on a procedure you've wanted for a while. If you have a big event coming up and want to refine your appearance, planning ahead for recovery is key. Make room in your life to prioritize your aesthetic goals. If it's something you're going to do eventually, why not do it now and enjoy the results longer? Dr. Bass covers: Different types of recovery, from resting at home to stepping back from social activities while you heal How recovery time and experiences vary depending on the procedure and your unique journey The typical recovery timelines for popular treatments, from surgeries like face lifts and tummy tucks to nonsurgical options like injectables and energy-based treatments About Dr. Lawrence Bass Innovator. The holidays are behind us and some of us are thinking "New Year, New Me" and whatnot. But when you have had a baby or two....or four, there can be challenges beyond just hitting the gym. So, The Mamas are running back an episode where we talked about our pre and post baby bodies. Hear what we think about everything from snapping back to diastasis recti, cosmetic surgery and more. This episode was recorded before Tata and Kaia were even born, so things have changed. But give it a listen and then tell us if you want us to talk about how we feel about our bodies now!
Send us a textComing in at #2 on our list of top podcasts for 2024 is my conversation with Munira Hudani.Today I speak with Munira Hudani, a Pre- and Post-Natal physiotherapist in Canada, and an emerging leader for the management of Diastasis Rectus Abdominis. After years of frustration in landing inconsistent results with her clients, and the dissatisfaction in having to say “we just don't have enough research right now,” Munira began to challenge the conventional method to managing DRA. She realized that part of the inconsistent results came down to how DRA was being conceptualized. She started practicing with a different set of principles which improved outcomes. She has now compiled all of her knowledge and experience into a new framework that revolutionizes how we conceptualize, assess, and manage DRA. She is passionately committed to transferring this knowledge to both professionals and patients so they can finally make sense of the steps to take when navigating this condition. We talk about:-learning about diastasis recti -separating DR from back pain and other dysfunctions -DR is not preventable -factors that lead to long-term issues -management of DR -problems with the research -Is the gap bad? -feeling at home in your body -targeting the transverse abdominis -experiencing pregnancy and motherhood -letting go of expectationsTime Stamps1:00 introduction 7:05 defining diastasis recti 10:50 prevention of DR 13:45 fear mongering in pelvic health 17:30 predicting long-term issues 22:00 what the research says 27:00 explaining distortion 31:20 Is the gap bad? 40:05 creating personalized care 41:00 being a new mom 48:33 rapid fire questions CONNECT WITH CARRIEIG: https://www.instagram.com/carriepagliano/Website: https://carriepagliano.comCONNECT WITH MUNIRAInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/munirahudanipt/ Website: https://www.munirahudanipt.com/ The Active Mom Postpartum Podcast is A Real Moms' Guide to Postpartum for active moms & the postpartum professionals who help them in their journey. Welcome to today's episode of our podcast! We're thrilled to bring you insights from a recent session with Dr. Karthik Ram, a renowned expert in aesthetic and plastic surgery. Dr. Ram, along with his team, provides top-tier care and is always available to address your concerns and clarify any doubts. In this session, he discussed a wide range of topics, from non-surgical treatments to complex surgical procedures. Let's dive right into the highlights! 1. Double Chin Correction with VASER Dr. Ram kicked off the session by discussing double chin correction. He explained how VASER technology helps in contouring and defining the chin area. VASER, a minimally invasive technique, uses ultrasound energy to break down fat, providing a more sculpted jawline without the need for extensive recovery. 2. Forehead Scar Treatments Next, he addressed concerns about forehead scars. Dr. Ram highlighted various treatment options, including laser therapies and specific scar revision procedures, to help improve the appearance of scarring and provide smoother skin. 3. Tummy Tuck (Mommy Makeover) One of the most common concerns he addressed was the tummy tuck or mommy makeover. He explained the entire process, including pre-operative care, the surgery itself, and post-op care. This procedure is especially beneficial for women after pregnancy, helping to restore abdominal contours and tighten skin. 4. Droopy Eyes – Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty & Brow Lifts For those struggling with droopy eyes, Dr. Ram shared his expertise on upper eyelid blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and brow lifts. These surgeries help rejuvenate the eyes, restore youthful appearance, and eliminate the tired, sagging look caused by aging or genetics. 5. Under-Eye Dark Circles Dr. Ram suggested a combination of fillers, fat transfer, and lower eyelid blepharoplasty as the best treatments for under-eye dark circles. These solutions can help restore volume and smoothness to the delicate under-eye area, offering a refreshed and well-rested look. 6. Breast Reduction & Gynecomastia Dr. Ram also addressed breast reduction concerns, particularly single-sided gynecomastia. He discussed both surgical and non-surgical options to improve breast symmetry and reduce excess tissue, providing patients with more confidence and comfort. 7. Nose Appearance While Smiling A common issue for many patients is the appearance of the nose when smiling. Dr. Ram provided solutions, discussing both surgical and non-surgical options to correct this issue and enhance facial harmony. 8. Fat Transfer for Upper Eyelids & Chin Implants Another popular topic was fat transfer for the upper eyelids. Dr. Ram explained how transferring fat from other parts of the body can restore volume to the eyelids, creating a more youthful appearance. He also talked about chin implants, a procedure that can improve facial balance and enhance the profile. 9. Skin Pigmentation & Sagging Skin Post-Gynecomastia Dr. Ram emphasized CO2 laser treatments for skin pigmentation issues and shared insights into addressing sagging skin post-gynecomastia surgery. He reassured patients that there are solutions available for these challenges, ensuring smoother, tighter skin post-surgery. 10. Keloid Treatment on Chest Chest keloids can be tricky to treat, but Dr. Ram discussed various options for managing and improving their appearance, ensuring that patients are aware of all their treatment options. 11. Lipedema Treatment & Non-Surgical Saddle Bag Solutions For patients concerned about lipedema or stubborn saddle bags, Dr. Ram went over treatment methods, including both surgical and non-surgical solutions to help reduce fat deposits in the thighs and legs, and achieve a more sculpted appearance. 12. Botox for Masseter Muscle Dr. Ram also provided clarity on Botox treatments for the masseter muscle. He explained how repeated Botox treatments can help address jawline concerns, reduce teeth grinding, and enhance facial symmetry. 13. Rhinoplasty Recovery & Brow Lift Complications Rhinoplasty recovery can be challenging, but Dr. Ram offered tips on recovery timelines and complications to watch out for. Additionally, he discussed potential issues and complications that can arise from a brow lift and how to manage them effectively.
On today's podcast I chatted with Michelle Furey, who comes from that famous Irish musical family. Michelle' s career wasn't a musical one, but one in the beauty industry which resulted in her establishing her own beauty clinic. Her life took a huge turn in 2018 when just like many others, she went to Turkey for what should have been a routine Tummy Tuck procedure. This procedure turned out to be a botched horror show of monumental proportions which has resulted in Michelle needing 21 subsequent procedures to restore her health, which has still not been fully restored, Michelle, determined to make sure that no one suffers like her has started her own cosmetic surgery company Asetica to provide safe, affordable procedures for these who need them Our conversation provides a fascinating insight into this poorly regulated industry, about who needs these procedures and what would make them take the same dangerous journey as Michelle took. In plastic surgery, not all procedures are created equally. Often, surgeons will take shortcuts to simplify a surgical procedure for their benefit rather than the patient's. The reality is that you, as a patient, need to find out where a doctor may take a shortcut that will ultimately get you lesser great results. In this episode, Dr. Rady details the many procedures where doctors take the easy route and explains what questions you should ask to prevent your doctor from doing this to you. Are you getting breast augmentation? Will your doctor be using sizers or the Keller funnel? Are you getting a Tummy Tuck? Have you asked your surgeon if he will be doing the closures? These are just some questions you must ask to avoid being shortchanged on your future plastic surgery. Join Dr. Rady as he gives quick tips that can help you in your dialogue with your doctor's, so you know what to ask to get the results you expect and deserve.Get In Touch With Dr. Rahban!

When women go in for a mommy makeover, some feel guilty because they feel selfish and vain in taking time away from their family to have cosmetic surgery. That's precisely how Stacy, Dr. Rahban's patient, felt when she went to his practice for a consult for a mini tuck. Before her visit, she researched and spoke to women who had the procedure. She was confident that she wanted the mini tuck and not a full tummy tuck because the mini would give her less downtime away from her family. Although she did the right thing by doing her research, she took the wrong approach by assuming that was what she needed. In this episode, Dr. Rahban and Stacy discuss her experience and why she eventually followed his recommendation to get a full tummy tuck. He also delves into the difference between the two procedures and the recovery time needed. Ultimately, the decision to have a mommy makeover is personal and should be based on what makes you feel happy and confident as a woman and mother. Before having a tummy tuck, one of the biggest worries our patients have is “what is my belly button going to look like?” No one wants an ugly belly button, or for it to be a dead giveaway that they had work done.Because so much extra skin is removed during tummy tuck surgery, the original belly button often goes away with it. But during a tummy tuck using the BellaButton technique, Dr. Salazar creates a beautiful, natural-looking belly button. As the pioneer of this technique, Dr. Salazar explains the key differences between the original techniques used to create a belly button during a tummy tuck, and the advanced approach of the BellaButton.See the difference between Dr. Salazar's BellaButton results and standard tummy tuck belly button on our blog Meet San Diego plastic surgeon Dr. Hector Salazar-Reyes La Jolla Cosmetic is located just off the I-5 San Diego Freeway at 9850 Genesee Ave, Suite 130 in the Ximed building on the Scripps Memorial Hospital campus. To learn more, go to https://www.ljcsc.com/ or follow the team on Instagram The La Jolla Cosmetic Podcast is a production of The Axis: http://www.theaxis.io/
