SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 377, “God Can Speak in Unexpected Ways,” Kim discusses the dangers of Christ-followers trying to limit how the Lord can speak to them. We see that in today's scriptures as King Josiah refuses to believe God would be speaking through an enemy king, and it cost him his life. May our daily life theme be, “Speak, your servant is listening,” with no limits on the when or the how He can speak. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 35:20-27, and with 22 as the focal verse: 22 But Josiah refused to listen to Neco, to whom God had indeed spoken, and he would not turn back. Instead, he disguised himself and led his army into battle on the plain of Megiddo. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: When you pray, “Speak, your servant is listening,” don't put limits on how the Lord can speak. Our Divorce Crash Course was designed to hold your hand through the process and help you avoid major and expensive mistakes. Learn more here: https://www.hownottosuckatdivorce.com/divorce-crash-courseDivorce is overwhelming. Some days you're strong, focused, and ready to tackle legal decisions. Other days you just need something — anything — to help calm your nervous system and get through the moment. In this episode of How Not to Suck at Divorce, host Andrea Rappaport shares three surprisingly simple tools that helped her survive some of the hardest days during her own divorce:Target. Alexa. TikTok.These everyday distractions may sound random, but they can actually help interrupt the emotional spiral that many people experience during divorce. When your brain gets stuck ruminating about things you cannot control, small shifts in your environment can make a big difference. If you're struggling with loneliness, anxiety, or intrusive thoughts during divorce, this episode offers practical — and refreshingly honest — ways to break the cycle. Why Divorce Triggers Emotional SpiralsDivorce often creates a perfect storm of stress:• uncertainty about the future• loneliness and silence at home• repetitive thoughts about the past• emotional overwhelmWhen your brain gets stuck in this loop, it becomes harder to regulate your emotions. Sometimes the healthiest move isn't deep therapy work — it's simply interrupting the spiral long enough to reset your nervous system.3 Surprisingly Helpful Divorce Coping Tools1. Target: Get Out of the HouseWhen you're stuck ruminating about your divorce, one of the best things you can do is change your physical environment.Walking around a place like Target gives your brain new visual input — colors, textures, movement — which can interrupt repetitive thought patterns. You don't need to go on a shopping spree. Just walking through a store, moving your body, and being around other people can lift your mood and help you reset.2. Alexa: Don't Sit in SilenceSilence can be one of the hardest parts of divorce, especially when you suddenly find yourself living alone.Using a voice assistant like Alexa (or any smart speaker) can help fill that space with:• music• podcasts• random questions• background noiseEven small interactions with sound can help regulate your emotional state and keep your mind from spiraling.3. TikTok: Embrace the DistractionScrolling on TikTok may not be the self-care advice most therapists give — but sometimes distraction is exactly what you need. When you're deep in divorce stress, going down a completely unrelated rabbit hole can give your brain a break from obsessive thinking. The goal isn't perfection — it's survival.Bonus Tip: Go Sit at a Bar (Even If You Don't Drink)One of Andrea's unexpected coping strategies during divorce was simply sitting at a bar with a laptop or book. Not for drinking — for connection.Bars are one of the few places where casual conversation with strangers still happens. Being around other people, hearing conversations, and interacting with a bartender can break the feeling of isolation many people experience during divorce. The Truth About Divorce Self-CareSome days you'll make healthy choices:• therapy• journaling• exercise• meditationOther days you just need something that helps the pain stop for a moment — and that's okay.Divorce is not a sprint. It's a marathon. And learning how to survive the difficult days is part of the process.Key Takeaways From This Episode• Divorce anxiety often comes from rumination and emotional isolation• Changing your environment can help interrupt negative thought loops• Sound and background noise can reduce feelings of loneliness• Distraction isn't always unhealthy — sometimes it's necessary• You don't have to do everything perfectly to get through divorceRemember ThisYour divorce will end.You won't be going through this forever. One day you will look back and realize that you survived something incredibly hard — and came out stronger on the other side. And until that day comes, remember:You've got this. "When resistance is coming up, it's just trying to show you something, and it's an area in your life that can be healed, that can stretch you, that can put you in a position and in an opportunity for you to step into what's next for you." In this episode, Heather sits down with Tracy Matthews to dig into how we master resistance, find the courage to move toward our big visions, and cultivate a more profound sense of trust in ourselves and the universe. Whether it's navigating health issues, parenting children, or building a business, we all bump into those uncomfortable subconscious blocks and stories that keep us stuck. In this conversation, Heather and Tracy share their own experiences overcoming fear, resistance, and failures, along with powerful insights into what it takes to conquer them. What to listen for: ✨ Choosing yourself and "leaning in" to master resistance ✨ Why resistance is a moment to pause and question what it's doing for you ✨ How to dissolve resistance when it inevitably comes up "In the practice of just putting it out there and butting up against that resistance, you actually dissolve and dissipate the feeling because resistance is your body, mind, and subconscious trying to keep you from stepping into what's next for you or to a bigger capacity." ✨ Putting yourself out there and facing the fear of rejection ✨ How to be your own cheerleader and move through resistance ✨ The identity shifts that come up when we lean in new directions "If you resist it, that's literally the next door you should probably open. And if you want to buy back so much of your time and energy, open the doors that you're absolutely terrified to open, because that's going to buy back so much of your energy." ✨ Navigating the hidden shame that comes with setting big goals ✨ The power of pivoting and "failing" when it's aligned ✨ Trusting that the universe will show you the way forward "Sometimes you just have to sit in that discomfort, in that resistance, in that space of not knowing, knowing that if you trust yourself enough, the answer is going to drop in." ✨ Understanding your intuitive 'yes' and 'no' when making decisions ✨ Using resentment to uncover your boundaries ✨ Why business is the biggest crash course in personal development About Tracy Matthews Tracy Matthews is a Creativity, Branding, and Reinvention Expert, a Best-Selling Author, and the Host of the Top-Rated Creatives Rule the World Podcast. Sometimes it seems so obvious how a fight is going to play out, but then it goes the literal opposite direction. In today's video we break down the fights that did just that. These completely broke our expectations in half.
Send a text to Melissa and she'll answer it on the next episode. The journey toward healing isn't a quick sprint but rather a committed marathon that flourishes best when we're surrounded by supportive community. This truth resonates at the heart of our ninth installment in the encouragement series, where we explore how commitment and community intertwine to create lasting transformation. Many natural health advocates know the awkward reality of being labeled "weird" or feeling unable to share their homeopathic knowledge in certain circles, particularly within church communities. For years, these worlds remained separate for many practitioners, creating an unnecessary divide. But what if these seemingly different paths actually strengthen each other? The very perseverance required for natural healing journeys mirrors the commitment needed in our spiritual walks. The microwave society we inhabit has eroded our collective patience, yet homeopathy teaches us that true healing comes through consistency and dedication, sometimes without immediate visible results. This lesson transcends physical health, speaking directly to our spiritual growth as well. The Unexpected Ways of God's Discipline (Jonah 1) - Morning Sermon
Summer has arrived, and I'm taking a moment to look back at some of the most impactful episodes to date! I know this season brings a mix of relaxation and planning, especially for families navigating dyslexia. That's why I wanted to bring you our "Summer Rewind" series, a curated selection of previously aired episodes packed with valuable insights, practical strategies, and empowering advice to help you support your child's literacy journey through the warmer months and beyond. This episode, 5 Unexpected Ways Dyslexia Affects Everyday Life, originally aired in May of 2024, and I hope you enjoy listening to it again (or for the first time)! When people talk about dyslexia and how it affects people, the focus is almost always on improving a child's learning environment. They rarely talk about how the effects show up in everyday life, and in this episode, I look at five unexpected areas in which dyslexia impacts people. My Untangling Dyslexia: From Identification to IEP course walks you through every step of the identification and support process. I offer two options: the course itself, which gives you all the tools and templates you need to advocate for your child, or the course paired with a comprehensive literacy evaluation. Either way, you'll have a roadmap to follow instead of trying to figure everything out on your own, and you can learn more and apply now at https://www.literacyuntangled.com/continuethejourney! My brand-new mini-course, From Lost to Empowered: How to Get Your Struggling Reader: The 3-Step Evaluation Request Blueprint for Parents of Struggling Readers, is available now! This 3-step evaluation request blueprint walks you through everything you need to know, from documenting concerns with the right details to writing the evaluation request letter with language that triggers legal timelines, to handling what to do when schools try to push you off, and so much more. You can break through the barriers NOW and get instant access at https://www.literacyuntangled.com/from-lost-to-empowered. Topics Covered: Why navigating airports, reading maps, and managing travel documents can be a significant hurdle for individuals with dyslexia [1:33] How the unique executive function demands and road sign challenges that make driving a complex task for many with dyslexia [3:44] Ways that dyslexia affects navigation on the water and the surprising complexities of interpreting nautical charts and symbols [5:10] Why reading recipes, managing steps, and ensuring proper cooking times can be a real struggle in the kitchen for dyslexic individuals [5:31] Some of the significant processing challenges that are being created by the increased use of subtitles in modern media [6:12] Key Takeaways Dyslexia's impact extends far beyond academic settings, profoundly affecting seemingly ordinary daily activities. Individuals with dyslexia often face significant challenges with tasks requiring simultaneous processing of visual and auditory information, quick reading of complex text, and intricate organizational skills. Understanding these less-talked-about challenges of dyslexia in everyday life can foster greater empathy and provide insights into developing more effective support strategies. When you're ready to work with me, here are 3 ways I can help you: Join the waitlist to find out when my long-awaited course, Untangling Dyslexia: From Identification to IEP, opens up again! Can water hold memory, respond to your thoughts, and support healing? In this episode of The Healing & Human Potential Podcast, we explore the hidden intelligence of water—and what it means for your health, emotions, and connection to life. You'll hear how water responds to intention, sound, and words by forming stunning crystallized images. We talk about how it can reflect what's happening in your body, store past trauma, and even act as a mirror for the divine. Our guest is Veda Austin, a water researcher and author whose healing journey began after a near-fatal car crash. She shares how water helped her recover, what she's discovered through years of crystallography, and how she developed her freezing method. Veda also talks about “hydro glyphs”—symbols water forms in response to specific words—and her work with the non-speaking autistic children from The Telepathy Tapes who describe these images as doorways to healing. If you're ready to see water in a whole new way, this is a conversation you won't want to miss. === Have you watched our previous episode titled Anxious or Avoidant? One of the things I love most about our community is how we always keep it real about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship… and Vanessa Lau embodies this spirit in such a profound way. Vanessa Lau is a creator and entrepreneur on a mission to inspire business owners and creators to lead more authentic and fulfilling lives. Last year, she took a step back to reset, and in doing so, she redefined what success means to her. Vanessa's story is a powerful reminder that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is take a break. In this episode, Vanessa and I are chatting about the common traps in business and how these led to her dissolving her business for a year and how to follow your intuition if you find yourself in need of a break. She also shares key lessons she learned about her health, relationships, and most importantly herself when she stripped her business away from her identity, and the changes she's made in her business this time around to avoid making the same mistakes that led to her burnout! This conversation is about to leave you feeling inspired and empowered to protect your peace… no matter what it takes.
