Today we explore the first sermon of the church, the fiery sermon of Peter. We see him, empowered by the Spirit, truly catching men as 3,000 people are added to the church after being cut to the heart. Pastor Ray unpacks this sermon showing how God attested to Jesus being Christ and Lord through works, resurrection, exaltation, and Spirit. When confronted with these truths, we should be cut to the heart and join the crowd's desperate plea, "What shall we do?!" The Good News: Jesus did it all! We simply call on him for rescue. -Featuring Ray Grubbs

Full Text of ReadingsThursday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 338The Saint of the day is Saints Jacinta and Francisco MartoSaints Jacinta and Francisco Marto's Story Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese shepherd children from Aljustrel, received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria, near Fátima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. At that time, Europe was involved in an extremely bloody war. Portugal itself was in political turmoil, having overthrown its monarchy in 1910; the government disbanded religious organizations soon after. At the first appearance, Mary asked the children to return to that spot on the thirteenth of each month for the next six months. She also asked them to learn to read and write and to pray the rosary “to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war.” They were to pray for sinners and for the conversion of Russia, which had recently overthrown Czar Nicholas II and was soon to fall under communism. Up to 90,000 people gathered for Mary's final apparition on October 13, 1917. Less than two years later, Francisco died of influenza in his family home. He was buried in the parish cemetery and then re-buried in the Fátima basilica in 1952. Jacinta died of influenza in Lisbon in 1920, offering her suffering for the conversion of sinners, peace in the world, and the Holy Father. She was re-buried in the Fátima basilica in 1951. Their cousin Lúcia dos Santos, became a Carmelite nun and was still living when Jacinta and Francisco were beatified in 2000; she died five years later. Pope Francis canonized the younger children on his visit to Fátima to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first apparition–May 13, 2017. The shrine of Our Lady of Fátima is visited by up to 20 million people a year. Reflection The Church is always very cautious about endorsing alleged apparitions, but it has seen benefits from people changing their lives because of the message of Our Lady of Fátima. Prayer for sinners, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and praying the rosary—all these reinforce the Good News Jesus came to preach. Click here for more on Our Lady of Fatima! Jesus life was about revealing an ‘open secret' - this mystery of faith - that we are included in Him - restored to Garden relationship and representation! This is the mystery of faith that Jesus is attempting to tease in the hearts of His friends - the mystery of Faith. This is a great mystery but believe it or not (and it is hard to believe) Jesus is not himself apart from us any more than he is himself apart from the Father. How can that be true? Because he asked for it to be—and his intercessions cannot fail. EW Green. This is the Good News Jesus proclaimed to His friends and the Apostles proclaim in the epistles you have been included - not to become a part of a the ‘in' religious group that can display supremacy over others but who actually reveal the heart of God in real time.

Even the Christmas Story can be approached with faithful curiosity. What Zechariah's song and the popular seasonal song "What Child Is This" both stress is the immediacy of God's promises in Christ being jumpstarted. Hear the Good News: Jesus has always been and will always be the King!Luke 1:68-79Questions to consider—Backward [Roots]: What personal stories, Biblical narratives, or church traditions are being drawn to my mind in this Gathering?Upward [Celebration]: Which attributes of God am I noticing and delighting in throughout the Gathering?
This sermon was recorded at Family Worship Center in Columbia, SC on Sunday, December 3, 2023. The message title is " The Good News" by Pastor JT Clark.
When was the last time you belly-laughed? Laughed so hard that it hurt so good? There's nothing quite like it. That's because we were made for joy – and made for the Author of joy! Join us this week as we come to the part of the Christmas story when Elizabeth's baby leaps for joy as pregnant Mary arrives on the scene. Like the child in Elizabeth's womb greeting Immanuel, God With Us, we too get to celebrate this Good News: Jesus has come to bring us His eternal joy!
Innate within every soul is the thirst to be FREE. God created us to be free. Sin became a yoke of bondage enslaving us. Many have suffered and some have given their lives in a quest for freedom. Little did some realize that what they truly long for cannot be found outside of Jesus. Jesus is the great liberator. When He makes you free, you are free indeed! With that great Liberation comes Redemption, Restoration and Reconciliation. We have been REDEEMED by the Blood of the Lamb, RESTORED by the Grace of God and RECONNECTED by His Love. Praise the Lord, I'm Free! And we are charged to go spread the Good News… Jesus is still liberating, redeeming, restoring and reconciling the lost back to God.
The irony of the Good News: Jesus' death was actually the linchpin of His strategy to save the world! Check-mate… Game over… Jesus wins! And so do we, if only we will trust Him as Lord! Scripture: Matthew 21:33-45 Simple. Authentic. Jesus. prairiebible.org

The Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon on Matthew 5, in which Jesus commands his followers to be the salt of the Earth and a light to the world. How can we reconcile these laws with Jesus' grace and mercy? There is Good News: Jesus came to fulfill the law for you.
Matthew begins his Gospel by sharing the genealogy of Jesus. He feels the need to prove that Jesus is a Son of Abraham and a Son of David. Luke begins by talking about the events which lead up to the birth of the Lord Jesus. John's Gospel starts out in eternity past reminding us that Jesus is God in the flesh. Mark does not start out by talking about the Lord's heritage or His birth. Mark's desire is to present Jesus as a servant and a servant does not need a genealogy. Mark begins by jumping right into the action. Mark's first sentence serves as a title to the book and it serves to plunge us immediately into the earthly ministry of Jesus. Mark is going to share with his readers the good news concerning who Jesus is and what He did while He was here. Mark calls the Lord “Jesus Christ, the Son of God”. The name “Jesus” is the Greek transliteration of the Hebrew name “Joshua”. It means “Jehovah is Salvation”. Jesus is a human name and it reveals the reason Jesus came into this world. Jesus came into this world to save lost sinners, Matt. 1:21; Luke 19:10. The name “Jesus” declares His Person. He is called “Christ”. This identifies Jesus as the “Jewish Messiah”, or “the Anointed One”. The name “Christ” declares His Position. Jesus is pictured as the One Who will deliver His people from their enemies. Then Mark raises the stakes. He calls Jesus “the Son of God”. Mark lets us know in very clear terms that he is writing about a man, Who is no ordinary man. He is writing about a man Who is God in the flesh, John 1:1, 14. The name “Son of God” declares His Power. So, this title declares four important truths regarding Jesus. 1. He is truly human – He has a human name – Jesus. 2. He is truly divine – He is the promised Messiah. He is the Son of God. 3. He is truly unique – He is both humanity and deity in one Person. 4. He is the true source of Good News – Jesus alone is the source of salvation! We have Mark's introduction of the book that bears his name. Let's begin the process of moving through these verses. We will consider the beginning of the ministry of Jesus as Mark writes about the man who was sent to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we are going to take a few moments to look at the ministry of John the Baptist.
Beloved the Good News Jesus reveals in this beatitude is that longing for the light and life of Heaven in a dark and dying world IS the place where He reveals the Kingdom of God! Think about this - Jesus proclaims to the nameless and the powerless ( those who are literally hungry) those who felt helpless against the powers that dominated their lives. The reign of God is not measured by power or dominance but rather by the revelation of Heaven on earth in real lives in real time - in self giving love! The Gospel IS JUSTICE for all who live under the weight of the works of the devil that manifest in shame, hatred, poverty, despair, darkness, disconnection and unforgiveness. To view the gospel as anything less is to miss so much of what the scripture declares and Jesus reveals in His life.
In this episode, I talk about how when New Agers specifically begin our walk with Christ, we tend to approach the world with kid-gloves because we have PTSD from the horrific deception we were spellbound by in NA and are terrified of the devil tricking us again, especially because we have finally received the true fulfillment we had been in a futile search for before surrendering to Jesus. Because of that, we tend to over-credit Satan and give him way too much clout that he does not deserve. As believers in Christ — as children of God — we should not overestimate the devil in this way. By the same token, I discuss how Scripture says that Satan does indeed blind the minds of unbelievers. Therefore, while believers should not underestimate the devil… un-believers should certainly not underestimate him. Un-believers need to be made consciously aware of Satan's wickedness, snares, deceit and malignancy. More importantly, they need to be made aware of the Good News — Jesus loves them unconditionally and can redeem them from the Evil ONe. Additionally, I speak on how when we constantly shift the blame for all haphazards, wrongdoings and negativity in life, we lack taking responsibility for our own infallible nature. The Bible tells us that our fleshly desires wage war against our soul and that the wages of sin are death. This speaks volumes to the powerful nature of sin and temptation. More often than not, it's not the devil messing us up — it's us submitting to the flesh. While Satan certainly cheers on your destructions, he is not always the inherent cause of them. The punchline of this episode is this: GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER SATAN. The devil DOES NOT have unlimited power as God does. He cannot do anything outside of the boundaries God has set in place for him; he cannot wreak havoc on anything without God's providence. Ultimately, Satan is God's subordinate, not His opposite equal. We deserved and earned death, but Jesus said, "I'll die in your place." Why? Because Jesus Ain't Fair.
