Thanks for tuning in to this weeks episode of One For The Road. This week I am joined by film director Philip Barantini. After 20 years of performing in front of the camera - including roles in the massively successful Band of Brothers, Chernobyl, Ned Kelly and Humans, Philip Barantini transitioned into directing in the late 2010s, marking his first short film with the award-winning Seconds Out, written by and starring Robbie O'Neill. Following this, Barantini helmed the BIFA nominated short film Boiling Point, starring Stephen Graham, which was then adapted into the hotly anticipated one-shot feature of the same name in 2021; both movies were co-written with Barantini's frequent collaborator James Cummings. Boiling Point saw its international debut in competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and premiered in the UK at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2021. The film has garnered glowing reviews from both critics and audiences, who have called the film "dizzying" [The Guardian] and "utterly compelling" [Variety], commending the film for its "piano-wire tension" [Time Out] and performances - "Stephen Graham is phenomenally mesmerising" [HEYUGUYS]. It recently won 4 BIFA's including best supporting actress (Vinette Robinson), best cinematography, best casting and best sound. and was nominated in 11 categories. If you enjoy One For The Road, then click follow to be notified of the release of our next episode. If you want to connect with me via Instagram, you can find me on the instahandle @Soberdave https://www.instagram.com/soberdave/or via my website https://davidwilsoncoaching.com/Provided below are links for services offering additional help and advice, and links for Philip.https://www.instagram.com/barantini/https://alcoholchange.org.uk/https://www.wearewithyou.org.uk/https://www.drinkaware.co.uk/advice/alcohol-support-serviceshttps://nacoa.org.uk/Show producer- Daniella Attanasio-Martinezhttps://www.grownuphustle.com/Instagram - @TheDaniellaMartinez@GrownupHustle See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

"...an exceptional, essential debut from (Rebecca/director) Johnson, one that should reward her with the attention that she so obviously deserves..." HEYUGUYS (08.05.2015) 4* star rating from The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw. HONEYTRAP is a tragic teen romance, set in Brixton and inspired by true events. It tells the story of 15-year-old Layla, who sets up the boy in love with her to be killed. The film explores the jigsaw of elements which allow gang culture to flourish, but it's also a story on a mythic scale: set in a world with its own kings and queens, a world where obsession and jealousies loom larger than life and where status is survival itself. In the week of its UK release, associate producer, Paul Joseph, joins SNS Online to discuss the diary of this very special production. The only thing to kick the Monday morning blues right in the face is here, the latest episode of the Mouth Off podcast hits the internet. Up for discussion this week is the Harald Zwart's remake of the classic (?) 80s film The Karate Kid, this time starring Jaden Smith and the Jackie Chan. Bleeding Cool's Movie Man Brendon Connelly, Craig Skinner and I take off the rose tints and stare deeply into the abyss of the latest remake to hit our screens. Craig returns triumphant from Montreal to bring us all the news from Fantasia Fest and we also look ahead to FrightFest, so plenty to pleasure you aurally this week, as well as our resident Ripped from the Crypt section which this week takes as a theme films which mix animation with live action.
It's been a while but the Mouth Off team were too tempted by the furious momentum of Christopher Nolan's Inception to sit this one out and the podcast returns to take apart the latest film from the man some people claim to be 'The New Kubrick".
It's been a busy week on HeyUGuys and to ease the journey into the weekend let's cosy up and let the calming influence of the Mouth Off podcast wash over us, shall we? Lets. You'd be hard pressed to find three more diverse films than the ones we're discussing - a liberal guilt trip with writer/director Nicole Holofcener's latest Please Give, Craig Skinner talks up Harmony Korine's Trash Humpers and Brendon Connelly tells us all about the Spanish film Hierro. We champion the trailer for Mark Romanek's latest, his adaptation of Never Let Me Go which blew our collective minds, we journey through Oz with some unexpected companions and we rip into Warner Bros's decision to do a tentpole Don Quixote film.
Bit of a special one today as we have an exclusive interview with the director of the forthcoming film Death and Cremation, Justin Steele, whose generosity and candour was a breath of fresh air and the stories he tells of getting an original horror film made, as well as working with Brad Dourif and Jeremy Sumpter are really worth a listen.
Arriving just in time to complement your weekend I chat to Brendon Connelly and Craig Skinner about the Rian Johnson film The Brothers Bloom (out in UK cinemas today), as well as looking over the career of the late Dennis Hopper and kicking the recently orphaned Hobbit film around.
[Rec]2, Agora and The Killer Inside Me are all up for discussion this week, and we have news on the Logan's Run remake and potentially a very odd career move for Sam Rockwell
Joining me in the podcast arena this week are Craig Skinner and Brendon Connelly and this week sees us tackle StreetDance 3D, the Werner Herzog directed Bad Lieutenant: Part of Call New Orleans, and Philip Ridley's Heartless, and we throw a discussion of 3D, the merits of Nicolas Cage and a new mode of film distribution.
To welcome in the weekend we’re happy to bring you the latest episode of the HeyUGuys podcast Mouth Off. This week we pull apart Price of Persia: The Sands of Time and talk about the state of Disney’s live-action arm in the 21st century. Brad Bird’s acceptance of a Mission: Impossible is also kicked around, as is the J.J. Abrams Super 8 trailer and the news that Kick-Ass team Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman are behind the next X-Men film..
It's Friday, and as if that wasn't cause enough for celebration there's a shiny new Mouth Off podcast for you to enjoy as you dive facefirst into the weekend.
Time to receive the aural pleasure of another Mouth Off podcast and taken to task this week are Neil Marshall’s Centurion, Gurinder Chadha’s It’s a Wonderful Afterlife and the first of this summer’s Men on a Mission movie, The Losers.
Time for another voyage on the good ship podcast as the HeyUGuys podcast - Mouth Off - celebrates its 16th episode in grand style with film reviews, movie news and all good things. I'm joined by the glorious Mr Brendon Connelly from Film and we chew over the big screen debut of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Cemetery Junction and Brendon kicks around Roman Polanski's The Ghost and it seems as though both films are worth a watch, so listen on to hear our thoughts.
To welcome you to your Monday morning we're happy, nay proud, to offer up this week's Mouth Off podcast. I'm joined by HeyUGuys writer Craig Skinner and /Film’s Brendon Connelly to talk all things movies and in celebration of the premiere of the Philips/Ridley Scott Associates Short Film project Parallel Lines we chat about the five films on offer (which you can, and really should, see right here) and about short films in general as they are an often overlooked art form.
Easter Monday is upon us and what better way to enjoy the bank holiday than with the dulcet tones of the Mouth Off podcast? This week I'm joined by HeyUGuys writers Emily Breen and Craig Skinner, as well as our usual guest /Film’s Brendon Connelly, and we take a look at two films out this week, Louis Leterrier's 3D/CGI behemoth Clash of the Titans and Drew Barrymore's directorial debut Whip It.
It's another packed podcast for you this week, as we orally assault the week's top films and movie news. I'm joined by /Film’s Brendon Connelly and HeyUGuys writer Andy Petrou as we talk through John Cusack's forthcoming nostalgia laced comedy Hot Tub Time Machine and work our way around Sandra Bullock's Oscar winning turn in The Blind Side.
It's podcast time again, and this week we dedicate our entire episode to one of our favourite films of this year so far - the epic Kick-Ass.
In the second part of our special edition Mouth Off podcasts about the role and hold nostalgia has over Hollywood and the wider movie blogging community I'm joined by one of our writers, Andy Petrou, and 80s legend Keith Coogan.
In a special edition of the podcast we take a look at the ever present air of nostalgia which pervades the Hollywood hills leading to a multitude of rehashed, remade and rebooted 80s favourites.
It's been a very busy 24 hours for the movie industry and as the 82nd Academy Awards fade into the memory HeyUGuys took some time to mull over the winners, the losers and the controversy.
Taken to task this week on the podcast, Dave, /Film's Brendon Connelly and I talk over the new UK cinema releases this week, focusing on Paul Bettany's Angels Apocalypse drama Legion and Atom Egoyan's latest erotic thriller, Chloe. We also mull over this weekend's Oscars and offer up our predictions and following on from the small outbreak of controversy surrounding the endless slew of remakes on offer, we give our opinions on what makes a good remake and pose the question - Is any film fair game for a remake?
After our break last week for the BAFTA awards the HeyUGuys podcast Mouth Off returns to bring you our tales of red carpet exploits, film reviews and a discussion of the biggest films out in the new week - Micmacs from Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Alice In Wonderland. Dave and I also discuss the BAFTA awards and our reaction to the winners and losers, Gary pops up to review Leap Year, Extraordinary Measures and Robert De Niro's latest Everybody's Fine, then Brendon Connelly from /Film joins me to untangle Alice's Adventures in the hands of Tim Burton.
Episode 7 of the official HeyUGuys podcast, MouthOff, is here and among the gems up for discussion this episode we have our take on Valentine’s Day, The Wolfman, A Single Man and the ubiquitous Percy Jackson, and we delve into the mass of film news to talk about Christopher Nolan’s Godfather role in the forthcoming Superman film, the lovely new trailer for Toy Story 3 and the potential boycott of Alice In Wonderland by the UK’s biggest cinemas.
Dave, Gary and I were joined by /Film’s UK correspondent Brendon Connelly to talk over the latest film news and reviews, this week we delved into Disney’s latest hand-drawn animation movie The Princess and the Frog and Clint Eastwood’s Invictus. Some of the news discussed includes the merits and problems of 3D processing, in the light of news that Clash of the Titans and the final two Harry Potter films are having a third dimension thrust upon them. Also under the MouthOff microscope is the possibility of Watchmen 2, and we pull apart the Oscar nominations announced this week. Finally we get an update on the HeyUGuys IMDb 250 project from Gary, who discovered some amazing films on the list and looking forward to some he’ll be watching next week.
In this episode we talk about: Terminator Salvation & Transformers 2 and they way the companies are choosing to market them Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut for Synecdoche, New York, Shatner singing to George Lucas!, The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus and will people like it?
