As a little girl, Kris Repp had a dream to be a missionary doctor to French-speaking Africa. She was not a Christian at the time. In her teen and young adult years, Kris was a long way from living out that dream. Although she'd learned about God by reading the New Testament, Kris was addicted to drugs and alcohol. And on top of that, she began binging and purging her food. The struggle with her eating disorder lasted for almost 20 years, even after she began following Jesus and found freedom from her other addictions. The shame and secrecy were a horrible burden to bear. Looking back Kris says there was a reason for her suffering. On this episode of Limitless Spirit, Kris will share the moment that become a turning point in her battle with anorexia and bulimia, and how her childhood missionary dream came true. Kris has had many exciting adventures on the mission field, including the opportunity to share the Gospel with a king on his death bed. Enjoy this powerful story of healing and hope! 2:53 – Grandmother was an example of Christian faith, but ultimately Kris became rebellious and dove into sin and addiction 5:25 – Kris goes to France and starts learning about God, but after returning to the USA, her old lifestyle came back in full force 8:48 – How Kris overcame her addictions and eventually her eating disorder (but not before suffering with it for 20 years) 13:43 – Kris finally accepts God's unconditional love for her and starts believing that Jesus could make her free 18:30 – Struggling with brokenness with Kris's prep for the mission field 20:53 – Kris shares about her work in foreign missions, starting in Central America and then in Africa 27:00 – The story of Kris sharing about Jesus with the Muslim king of a nomadic tribe in Africa After you listen to this episode, go to our host website: www.rfwma.org and find out how World Missions Alliance can help you connect to your greater purpose. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of the Limitless Spirit Podcast, click below Support the show (https://rfwma.org/give) Email us your questions and comments at podcast@rfwma.org WMA is 501(c)(3), donations are tax deductibleSupport the show (https://rfwma.org/give)

Sales outreach is one way to set your sellers apart because they deliver personalized experiences in a powerful way to prospects and customers to increase sales conversions. My guest on this episode of #ModernSelling is Kris Rudeegraap, CEO of Sendoso, a leading sending platform that enables sellers to outreach effectively and uniquely. Listen to hear how the company started, how technology is empowering these personalized experiences in ways that lead to response rates of up to 60%, and how your sales team can integrate outreach into your cadence and customer care. This episode is sponsored by XANT, the enterprise leader in sales engagement. Xant has authored the Definitive Guide to Sales Cadence. Get your copy at www.SalesCadenceGuide.com Does Gifting Swag And Direct Mail Really Work? Getting to the heart of the issue, I asked Kris a direct question, “Does this kind of stuff really work?” He said that without a doubt sales outreach works when done as part of an intentional, personalized strategy. When executed properly, sending personalized gifts into the day-to-day work flows can improve both lead nurture sequences at the top of the funnel and conversions further down the funnel. But you must ensure that the decision about where to place this service in your sales cadence is part of an overall strategy. What kind of results has Kris seen? For lead generation, his stats show up to a 60% response rate to gifts that are sent. That’s incredible! But customized outreach also proves to be effective lower in the funnel for building human relationships required as part of the modern sales approach to grow accounts and build long-term client relationships. Omnichannel Selling Is Required To Make Sales Outreach Effective It’s not enough to send a prospect a gift of cupcakes or a mug emblazoned with your company logo. I’ve had a number of edible gifts sent to me recently and I honestly can’t remember who they were from. Why? In my opinion, the sender didn’t add enough personalization to the gift AND they didn’t effectively follow up or connect the gift to an ongoing conversation. That’s why I talk about the Omnichannel approach for sales. Sellers must engage with prospects and customers on a number of levels and use a variety of platforms to make messaging efforts memorable. Name recognition and top-of-mind status in your industry depend on it. For instance, if the sellers who sent me cupcakes would have followed up a few days later with a customized video of themselves eating cupcakes and asking me how I was enjoying mine, I’d have definitely connected them with the gift and given them a closer look. Who Is Responsible For These Personalized Experiences? It’s hard to decide exactly who should be responsible for sales outreach initiatives simply because the integrations available with platforms like HubSpot, Outreach, Xant, and others make it an easy-to-use tool for many departments within the company. I believe, at the very least, Sales Leaders should start the conversation with the broader team about the effective use of sales outreach tools. You may find that prospecting benefits from sending tools the most, which may wind up placing oversight in the CSOs purview. But it could just as easily turn out that Sales Enablement utilizes outreach more, so the CMO would not always be the proper leader to guide its use. The point is that the integration of these customized experiences has to be both intentional and company-wide. When everyone is on the same page and working together to stay aligned and make the most of this amazing tool, new accounts and account growth will be the result. Thinking Through The Options For Outreach Efforts Let’s review the options for the use of personalized outreach: First:It must be strategic and implemented in an Omnichannel approach. Don’t leave it up to individual ARs, BDRs, or salespeople to decide how they will use the tools, or if they use them at all. Decide how and where to use sending tools in your sales cadence as well as how you’ll follow up using social, phone calls, and other communications channels. Make tweaks as you strive to achieve the best results when it comes to sales conversions. Second: Consider how personalized gifting can be used for top-of-funnel prospecting. Lead nurture can benefit tremendously from appropriate, timely, and personalized sales outreach. But do it wisely. Because of the costs involved you’ll need to scrutinize exactly who is the right person to receive a gift in each situation. And don’t forget to apply the right follow-up and nurturing strategy. Third: Recognize that account growth can happen through personalized engagement with existing customers. Upselling opportunities come to light as you nurture relationships and demonstrate your care and concern for those you are already serving. Personalized outreach makes that happen in unforgettable ways. Not only is Kris’ story fascinating, his stats and insights into the best practices for effective sales outreach are not to be missed. We recently hosted a webcast conversation between Kris Newcomer, Executive Director at The Firefly Sisterhood, and Marilyn Gorman, Lean Startup Co. Faculty Lead, on using Lean Startup methods to launch a successful non-profit as well as make positive changes outside of the business world. In Kris and Marilyn’s conversation, they discuss: - How Kris found The Lean Startup book and then used it to launch The Firefly Sisterhood nonprofit. - How the methodology helped her move forward and make decisions despite not knowing all the information. - How they used “Pivot or Persevere” as they were building their organization. And much, much more… Kris Newcomer is the first to admit that she became the Executive Director of Firefly Sisterhood — a non-profit organization that connects women recently diagnosed with breast cancer with inspirational survivors — by being in the right place at the right time. The idea for the non-profit originally came from an internal competition at General Mills called “The Big Bold Idea.” Yoplait, a brand under General Mills, has always done work with breast cancer, so they pitched an idea called (at the time) “Big Sister, Bigger Sister” which won the contest. But after they got the money to actually begin to build the project, they realized that the idea was too big for them to do it justice internally. That’s when Kris got involved. “I was working for another non-profit and got a call...and [was] asked if I could talk about starting a non-profit.” Those talks eventually led to her being offered the role of founding executive director of the project. Health and wellness are seldom the first priority of large multinational corporations, but that's not the case with Adobe. In this episode I speak with Kris Herrera who is the Global Employee Services Manager for Adobe, and I also speak with Todd Kopriva who is the product manager for Adobe's visual effects and motion graphics applications which includes Adobe After Effects and its kin. We discuss what is wrong with most corporate cultures as far as their approach to health for their employees as well as the ways that Adobe is changing that. Topics of conversation include: - Adobe's definition of "wellness" - How Kris and Adobe have reshaped their employees' ability to eat healthy foods at the office - How to avoid "burn out" by feeding yourself the proper fuel - Adobe's Fitbit program for every one of their employees - Todd's strategy for racking up TONS of steps on the FiP Fitbit Leaderboard - Building "awareness" by quantifying your activity and caloric intake (i.e. step 2) - Todd's experience as an endurance athlete and ultra-marathon runner - Todd's realistic and practical approach to including steps into his daily routine - How increased activity can "loosen you up" and increase your ability to perform on the job - Using standing desks, treadmill desks, and even elliptical bike desks - Incorporating The Sitting Solution into your daily routine - How just standing all day is almost as unhealthy as sitting all day - Keyboard & mouse ergonomics as related to repetitive stress injuries - How you can change the culture at your office to be more like Adobe's - Incorporating standing and activity into meetings to enhance group productivity Our Sponsors: GeekDesk Lifespan G-Tech That Studio Boris FX GenArts Adobe Useful Links: The Sitting Solution My podcast with the creators of 'The Sitting Solution' Adobe's list of health & wellness resources Kris Herrera on LinkedIn Todd Kopriva on Twitter Show Credits: This episode was edited by Kristin Martin, and the show was executive produced by Kanen Flowers.
