The Founderz Lounge Episode #93 with Brad Dunn.In this episode, Don and Steve sit down with Brad Dunn of Reliant Fitness to talk about why so many men lose themselves in their 30s and 40s, and what it really takes to rebuild your body, mindset, and identity. Brad shares how he went from chaos, bad priorities, and a life that needed radical change to becoming a firefighter, a father, and eventually building Reliant Fitness around his own transformation and a no-gimmicks, no-bullsh*t approach to helping men change their lives. They get into fatherhood, sobriety, self-belief, and why so many men get stuck in cycles of broken promises to themselves. Brad breaks down why fitness and nutrition are really tools for rebuilding the man in the mirror, how community helps men get unstuck, and why defaulting to the better decision most of the time matters more than chasing perfection. They also dive into building a brand from your own story, using your mess as your message, and how real transformation starts when your life finally gets aligned with your goals. If you care about men's fitness, discipline, sobriety, confidence, fatherhood, mindset, and becoming somebody you actually respect, this episode is for you.Timestamps:[00:00] Trailer and Intro[01:39] Brad's Origin Story[02:56] Fatherhood and Losing Identity[07:02] Men Needing Purpose Again[08:23] Sobriety as an Upgrade[12:56] Where Broken Men Start[14:24] What's Holding Men Back[16:49] The All-or-Nothing Trap[18:26] Building Confidence Again[22:02] Coaching Entrepreneurs[24:20] Turning Your Story Into a Brand[28:29] Fitness Without Gimmicks[30:56] Why Men Get Hurt in the Gym[34:03] Payday Burpees[36:16] Advice for Stuck Men[38:06] Connect with Brad DunnKey Takeaways: • Radical change starts when a man gets honest about the life he is living and decides to build a version of himself he can actually respect. ~Brad Dunn• A lot of men lose themselves because their identity gets wrapped up in work, business, and family, instead of in what makes them feel whole and purposeful. ~Brad Dunn• Sobriety is not always a sacrifice. For a lot of men, it is an upgrade that helps them think clearer, feel better, and finally see what has been holding them back. ~Brad Dunn• The all-or-nothing mindset keeps a lot of men stuck, especially when they think every workout or every effort has to be perfect to count. ~Don Varady• A lot of men have grace for their kids and their business, but they do not have that same grace for themselves, and that mindset keeps them stuck. ~Steve Bon• Confidence is rebuilt through small daily wins, and men change faster when they stop chasing perfection and start stacking consistent commitments. ~Brad Dunn• Men usually do not have an information problem. They have a commitment problem, and real progress starts when they ask for help and finally get out of their own way. ~Brad DunnConnect with Brad Dunn:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reliliant.fitness/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brad.dunn.777/Reliant Fitness: https://www.reliantfitness.net/Connect with Don and Steve…Don Varady:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/don.varady/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/donvarady/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/don-varady-450896145 Steve Bon:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephenbon Instagram: https://instagram.com/stevebon8 Tune in to every episode on your favorite platform: Website: https://www.thefounderzlounge.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheFounderzLounge Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0Nurr4XjBE747qJ9Zjth0G Apple Music: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-founderz-lounge/id1461825349

A couple of interesting property developments for you. 1. Half finished town houses in Christchurch. 2. Lack of demand for off the plan deals from developers. That last one came from a select committee hearing last week. The head of Kiwibank was suggesting there is a stark lack of appetite for off the plan stuff because of the risk you take on what the value will be when its done i.e are you underwater? And also the risk you take that the thing will never be finished. Which dovetails into the first observation which comes out of Christchurch, a city in which you would quite rightly ask; how is it possible things aren't booming in that part of the world? As always, the answer is in the detail. The Christchurch problem is around small townhouse-type builds close to the city, often with no garage. In other words, building for a world view that isn't that of the average New Zealander. Once again we are supposed to be like Amsterdam or New York. Except we aren't and will never be. Cars are important. You have seen it in Auckland as well with apartments with no parks. 'It's so cool, we're all on e-bikes". Except we aren't, so the cars are stacked on the streets outside, blocking trucks and generally proving theory isn't reality. Plans? Who would take the risk? Tell me what the market is going to be in two years - no one can! That's a real problem and does remind us a consent is not a house. But the key is our need and desire for housing hasn't really changed. Cheap builds will never thrive and builds with no garages will never have a demand. Rightly or wrongly the dream that has never really faded is a house. A detached house, maybe with a bit of lawn and most certainly a place for a car. The stats show it. First home buyers are in the market right now and standalone homes are what they want. They will borrow and bleed to do it. What the trendies want and what the real world is prepared to pay for it are, to some degree, at odds. And that is why the areas of the market that have trouble, have trouble, because theory and ideology doesn't have a deposit. The buyer does.
