I first saw Kris on The Oprah Winfrey Show years ago, long before I was diagnosed with cancer. Kris has been living with stage four incurable cancer for twenty-one years. She has tumors inside of her body, and yet she can still love and appreciate her body. Do you struggle to love your body? I think about how I've had a love/hate relationship with my body throughout my life. That's a long time without being in a constant state of appreciation for the body God gave me. Kris told me she is a difficult person and has to work to approach life from a place of love—love for other people and love for herself, her whole self, tumors, and all. I don't have to tell you how much strength it takes to face each day with LOVE, all while having an incurable form of cancer. If there's one podcast you listen to this week, this is it. About Kris Carr Kris Carr is a beacon of hope, resilience, and wellness leadership. I always love looking back on what I've learned and the first part of 2024 hasn't disappointed. I've had some incredible guests on the show this year and I've taken the time to distill some powerful insights from our conversations. Today I want to re-share my top takeaways of the year so far. First up, we have some incredible clips from Dr. Josh Axe, a world-renowned naturopath, leadership author, and speaker. Dr. Axe experienced a debilitating medical accident that left him unable to walk for a year, during which he wrote his book, “Think This, Not That.” The lessons he learned are truly golden, and I've picked my top four lessons to share with you, including the power of mindset.  Next, we'll revisit our episode with Liz Curran from the Radical Remission Project. We explored the 10 healing factors common among individuals who achieve radical remissions from diseases like cancer. One fascinating topic was the concept of being “too good of a patient” and the importance of laughter in healing. Did you know kids laugh about 300 times a day, while adults only manage 8-12 laughs daily? It's a reminder for all of us to embrace our inner child and find joy in everyday moments. The last lesson I want to share came from Kris Carr, an Oprah Super Soul guest, and a 21-year cancer survivor. Kriss lives with 24 inoperable tumors and has learned to love her body, tumors and all. Her journey of self-love and resilience is profoundly moving, especially since I struggled with body acceptance after my own breast surgery.  Don't miss these powerful lessons and heartwarming stories. Hit play now and get ready to be inspired! Visit whydidigetcancer.com for full show notes. --- This episode is sponsored in part by ButcherBox. Father's Day is right around the corner, and I've got a great Father's Day gift idea for you — whether it's for your dad, father figure, husband, or brother. You'll receive free ribeyes, fillet, or strip steak for an entire year, included in your box every month, and $20 off your first order. This offer is only valid until June 9th, so don't wait! Visit butcherbox.com/enos and use the code ‘enos' to claim your discount and choose your meat.  --- Pluck Seasoning Do you struggle getting organ meat into your diet?  Probably not because none of us are really doing it. But let me tell you, it's like popping a multivitamin. Loaded with nutrients, it's a superfood worth sneaking onto your plate. Enter Pluck Seasoning. Chef James Berry created this product, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer. He was a guest on our podcast a couple of weeks ago and he talked about the importance of grass-fed organs. Pluck Seasoning makes it super easy to get that superfood. It's like magic seasoning salt that turns ordinary meals into nutrient-packed powerhouses. Plus, it tastes amazing! Speaking of superfood, I have a super deal for you! Get 20% off your order when you use the code DEB20.  Now, that's a steal, considering the usual max discount is 15%. So what are you waiting for? Head over to Pluck Seasoning, and let's dip our toes into the organ-eating goodness together!   This podcast is for informational purposes only and none of the information should be construed as medical advice. Today, we have a very special guest who just celebrated her 21 year anniversary living and thriving with stage four cancer.  You may recognize Kris Carr from The Oprah Winfrey Show or as the New York Times Bestselling Author of I'm Not a Mourning Person. As a cancer survivor myself, I admit to being a longtime admirer (and stalker!) of Kris's work, even before my own diagnosis. Having followed Kris as an Oprah Super Soul 100 member, Kris revealed to me, and countless others, how she gained control of her anxiety after an incurable cancer diagnosis. In this candid conversation, we reflect on Kris's story, as a post-cancer survivor and thriver, and we celebrate her resilience and the recent milestone of her 21st anniversary since her stage four cancer diagnosis. As Kris shares her experience, she paints a picture of gratitude and stability, discusses the quirks of tumor behavior, and being able to find levity in life's most challenging moments. Visit whydidigetcancer.com for full show notes. --- This episode is sponsored in part by ButcherBox. I was SHOCKED to hear that when I buy frozen fish, it's frozen TWICE. It's usually frozen right after being caught, defrosted, processed, and then frozen again. I buy a lot of frozen fish; sometimes, the taste and texture can be inconsistent. Now that I have a better understanding of the processing of the fish before it hits my plate, it makes me wonder about quality. I called a friend who works at ButcherBox and asked her about the process with their salmon. She assured me that BB only freezes the fish ONCE! Which helps preserve the nutrients and taste. The big one for me is texture. When I eat fish, I want a firm texture, not rubbery! After getting over my shock (yes, fooled again by the food corporations) I asked my BB friend if I could pretty-please offer free salmon to my community. She said yes, so if you use the code 'enos', you can get free salmon (2 pounds) free for a year and $20 off of your first box. https://www.butcherbox.com/enos --- Deb's Favorite Cleaning Products I have a newfound joy in doing dishes, and you can find all of my favorite cleaning products here!
