SAN ONOFRE-Jason Lamb interviú Nomeansno-From Obscurity to Oblivion Presentamos nuestro Librito Jenkins Angloentrevistas, Vol. 2 El Ágora del Lúpulo- Sábado, 29 junio 2024; 19:00 h. Sí, "like a Jason to the slaughter". Whaddaya mean "NO"?! Kill Everyone Now. Indeed!
Zach talks with one of his all-time idols and inspirations, Andy Kerr from NoMeansNo!!! Throughout his career Andy has been very elusive, even going so far as to never crediting his real name on the records he's played on. Pre-internet, this proved very tricky for a young Zach to find out who was playing his favorite riffs in one of his favorite bands, No Means No. Zach finally gets to meet the man behind this inspiring riffage and ask him "all the questions". The two discuss Andy's tenure in NoMeansNo, his preferred guitar throughout his career and his projects outside of NMN. Andy shares his journey in finding the right guitar sound and how he stumbled upon his signature distortion by accident. Andy tells us about his experience in the Canadian punk scene, hips us to the new biography NoMeansNO: From Obscurity to Oblivion: An Oral History and we get a surprise visit from the author, Jason Lamb! Jason Lamb spent years grinding on the Canadian Comedy Scene in a fashion that parallels the band which is the subject of his new book NoMeansNo: From Obscurity to Oblivion: An Oral History. He talks to Will about the uniquely original punk scene that developed in his hometown of Victoria, British Columbia, his introduction to NoMeansNo, the Canadian comedy scene of the late 90s, transitioning into journalism and then radio, meeting NoMeansNo, and how he compiled the incredible oral history that details the bands unique sound, touring career and songwriting style. Hey NoMeansNerds! It's such a great time to be a fan of this band! In that vein we're THRILLED to bring you an interview with Paweł Homiński and Anna Mach, who are responsible for the Polish translation and publishing of the new book by Jason Lamb, From Obscurity to Oblivion. Paweł and Anna join Matthew in his garage, where we get to hear about their story, and hear about the experience of getting From Obscurity to Oblivion out to one of the bands most fervent and loyal fanbases. They were unlike any other band in the punk scene they called home. NoMeansNo started in the basement of the family home of brothers Rob and John Wright in 1979. For the next three decades, they would add and then replace a guitar player, sign a record deal with Alternative Tentacles and tour the world. All along the way, they kept their integrity, saying "NO" to many mainstream opportunities. It was for this reason the band (intentionally) never became a household name, but earned the respect and love of thousands of fans around the world, including some who became big rock stars themselves. They were expertly skilled musicians playing a new kind of punk: intelligent, soulful, hilarious, and complex. They were also really nice Canadian dudes. NoMeansNo: From Obscurity to Oblivion (PM Press, 2024) is the fully authorized oral and visual history of this highly influential and enigmatic band which has never been told before now. Author Jason Lamb obtained exclusive access to all four former members and interviewed hundreds of people in their orbit, from managers and roadies to fellow musicians, friends, and family members. The result is their complete story, from the band's inception in 1979 to their retirement in 2016, along with hundreds of photos, posters, and memorabilia, much of which has never been seen publicly before. For established fans, this book serves as a "love letter" to their favorite group and provides many details previously unknown. For those curious about the story and influence of NoMeansNo, it reveals an eye-opening tale of how a punk band could be world class musicians while truly "doing it themselves." Their impact and importance cannot be overstated, and NoMeansNo: From Obscurity to Oblivion is the essential archive. Learn more about your ad choices. We are joined by the excellent Andy Sandall this week, contributor to the upcoming “From Obscurity to Oblivion” book by Jason Lamb, and knower of many much NMN lore and history. And, to the delight of many I'm sure, Andy excoriates those of us deserving of such on the pod for our lack of Oh No Bruno! Love. Look folks there was a lot of drinking in this episode. A lot. Too much. Too much is not enough! It's 3 hours. I'm sorry. I'm really very very sorry. You'll want to break this one into chunks probably. Or start listening and at some point just say “yeaaaaaaah, I'm gonna come back to this one later” and then don't. But you should, because Andy opens up some really great discussions and has some really interesting thoughts on these songs. Oh yeah the songs! It's a doozy. Now vs. Beauty and the Beast, and Sex Mad vs. 0+2=1. I mean, come on. The votes are real nail biters this time, with some honest to god drama. And Jordon heartily apologies for his misuse of the term Archipelago. I'm fully aware that an Archipelago is a land mass and not a musical term. Honest.

This week we are joined by esteemed Jason Lamb, of the upcoming NMN Book "From Obscurity to Oblivion!" It's good to be back in the saddle, sorry this one was late. We cut you off a juicy slice. Being as this is round 2, no vote is easy, this week is no exception. It's Oh No Bruno!! vs. Tired of Waiting, and Brother Rat/What Slayde Says vs. Dead Bob. At this point at least half of you will be pissed at our choices. And for one pairing in particular probably about 9/10ths of you. Anyway. You love us. Enjoy!

What is your investment philosophy? When asked, this question generally produces a lot of blank stares. During this episode of Financial Roll Call, host James Fay interviews Jason Lamb, who is the CEO and Founder of Shore Point Advisors. It is Jason's vision and passion that has shaped the investment philosophy we use here at Shore Point Advisors. An investment philosophy is a set of beliefs and principles that guide an investor's decision-making process. Most investors who achieve long-term success develop and refine their investment philosophies over time and do not frequently switch between philosophies as market conditions change. Investment philosophies should include: Basis of the investor's goals, Their timeline or horizon, Their tolerance to experience risks of various types, And their individual capital status or needs. Take the time to understand the philosophy behind your investments, because “to make money” is not a philosophy, it is a wish. • • • Shore Point Advisors is an investment adviser located in Brielle, New Jersey.
