Chioma Umeala is a Nigerian-South African actress known for her role as Ayo on Isono, BET Africa's multilingual scripted and English sub-titled daily drama series. She is also known for her work as Tara on The Woman King. Trained at AFDA and the Indigo View Academy for Advanced Actors, Chioma made her film debut on a student film, "Look Closer" which was released in 2017, and her stage debut at Joburg Theatre with the production "Scene" in 2018. After successful performances in 15 countries over the past 17 years, one of the Philippine's longest running theatre shows is finally making its way to the South African stage. Siddhartha the Musical is set to perform at the Joburg Theatre on the 11th and 12th of May. The already fully booked show will be free to the public. There will, however, be several other performances at various schools in Gauteng. Since its premiere in 2007, the musical has been staged more than 180 times in countries including Singapore, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil. Siphokazi Jonas is a writer, poet, performer, and producer with a strong national footprint and growing international presence. She holds an MA in English Literature and a BA in Drama and English from the University of Cape Town. Her background in the theatre is what makes her a truly captivating performer whose work leaves a lasting impression on audiences across the world. Siphokazi has written and performed in numerous productions including #WeAreDyingHere (2020) at Artscape and Joburg Theatre, and Around the Fire (2018) at Artscape Theatre. She is a co-producer, co-writer and performer on the short film adaptation of the #WeAreDyingHere film. In 2016 she was the first African ever to perform at Rhetoric, the biggest poetry event in the world, in Los Angeles, California. In 2015 she was crowned the Cape Town Ultimate Slam Champion.
