Hump Day is here to rock you like a hurricane! Just kidding. It's like 70° today! We started you off with Brian bitching about his stupid Red Sox & their celebration for the 20th anniversary of the 2004 MLB World Series championship yesterday before their home opener. Also talked about Giannis' calf injury from the game against the Celtics last night. Today is "National Hug Your Dog Day", but all Brian was focused on was finding a new body lotion that isn't too greasy, is affordable, and comes in a squeeze bottle rather than a pump-style. Apparently, there's a new Scrabble game for people who are intimidated by the original. Played "You're Killin' Me, Shaws" this morning for a shot at $10 of Brian's morning-show money, and Dave from La Crescent did NOT win. Did you hear about Joey Gase, the Xfinity driver? He's got a new sponsor thanks to his actions at the Richmond race a few weeks ago. During today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about the Delta flight during the eclipse, a guy in NY who drove off a cliff, a naked man who got arrested for banging on someone's front door, a naked woman who chased a guy out of the woods with an axe, a naked #FloridaMan who decided to hop into a trash can, a guy who hung his own art on the walls of the museum that he works at, a dude in Spain that cut his father's head off & threw it at a bunch of cars, and a man who had sex with a woman's car for YEARS! Phil and Josh return after the Easter weekend for E214 of the GSP, with the main discussion point being Dennis Hamlin absolutely jumping the final restart and winning at Richmond.  The Cup Series debuted rain tires so they could start the race but NASCAR dictated when they could use them and when to remove them.  Once that was completed, two drivers essentially had their way - Kyle Larson and Martin Truex, Jr.  However, two cautions played a role in the final result: the drive out of the groove for Kyle Busch during a cycle of pit stops, and the caution with two to go between Larson and Darrell Wallace, Jr. which set up the GWC for Hamlin to pounce after his team provided a great pit stop.  The guys go over all of this and the continued issues with the short track package, while covering MTJ's list of people he was angry at.  On the XFinity side, Chandler Smith is really good at Richmond.  He won over teammate Aric Almirola (who won both stages) in a Gibbs benefit, which the guys said would happen.  The bigger stories were the debut of Late Model standout Bubba Pollard for JRM and the wreck between Joey Gase and former GSP guest Dawson Cram.  Cram finished Gase off into Turn 1, and the car owner decided to rip his bumper cover off and attempt to throw it in the window of the JD Motorsports driver's car.  Both have made merch off the incident but it was an expensive day for Gase. The GSP Roundup covers WRC and Formula E, while Liberty Media acquires Dorna Sport (the group that runs MotoGP and WSBK) and an NHRA Arizona Nationals preview with my respect and credit to Matt Hagan being discussed.  Phil and Josh return to preview Fish Lips getting back to the top step at the Japanese Grand Prix and who will finish behind him before previewing and making picks for all three major NASCAR series at Martinsville.  Josh lets us know all things going on in iRacing and gaming in his Sim Segment prior to the Show Close.

FIRST … we're gonna dig into the January 30, 1997 issue of Winston Cup Scene. Shawn Parker appears on the cover … along with teammate Ken Sapper … as they work on the rear-end housing from Rusty Wallace's Penske Racing South Ford. We get preseason stories on Rusty and Jimmy Spencer, as well as features on Ned Jarrett and a throwback to Darrell Waltrip's win in the 1989 Daytona 500. Andy Graves doesn't exactly go all out in his photo bio, and "Pappy" Tom Higgins gets a NASCAR-related fact wrong in writing about astronauts. THEN in the second installment of our interview, Shawn Parker talks about protecting his team's turf on pit road, which led to maybe … just maybe … a scuffle or two with members of OTHER teams. He talks about the wholesale crew changes that were made at the end of every season in and around the Mooresville race shops. He then turns his attention to meeting Tara Howell, her critical health issues and the subsequent heart transplant she endured and … best of all … the adoption of their son, Jagger. FINALLY … we'll be joined by Xfinity Series driver Joey Gase to talk about HIS passion for getting the word out about organ and tissue donation. Podcast with Host: Jai Shukla & Guest: Joey Gase Q1 - Making a real difference Brain aneurysm caused the passing away of his mother and she was an organ donor. Joey Gase puts honorary photos of people on his race car and ask people to paint his car with handprints and tries to bring about awareness to help the - 150,000 people in the USA on the waitlist. Q2 - The dream Racing in Daytona 500 - this has been his dream as a kid from Iowa – and sometimes getting flashbacks of seeing the races you see as a kid and then participating in them is surreal. Q3 - Pressure It’s always there when you are a driver but when you drive your just in your zone focussing on one thing and everything else just goes away. Q4 - What’s real-life like? Lots of stuff going on the business side from keeping the sponsors, going to sponsored events, to appearances and media all throughout the week. Training 3 to 4 times a week working on neck muscles, core muscles, and reaction time. Q5 - Training Sunglasses which cut out the vision so you have to catch a ball with only seeing for part of a flight and predicting trajectory. Visual improvements including peripheral vision. Even when tired being able to concentrate. 3-5 hours of racing and a split second could mean your career is over so mental stability is as important as physical if not more. Q6 - Lessons Always keep digging. Never give up. Staying balanced. Never go crazy. Q7 - Something Personal Shy guy. Hard-working. But racing is such a physical sport which isn’t obvious to a lot of people so staying calm is something he’s good at! _______________________ Visit the Facebook fanpage of Joey Gase: https://www.facebook.com/joeygaseracing/ _______________________ race-coin.io

It was a crazy week in NASCAR's silly season as the news just gets sillier by the day.  First it was the Woods Brothers and Go Fas Racing announcing a deal that locks the Wood Brothers Racing team into every race in the 2018 season. However, the charter is still technically owned by Go Fas Racing, figure that one out.  Then, on top of it, Go Fas Racing announced a partnership with Circle Sport Racing and Joe Falk. The team will utilize the charter from Circle Sport Racing. They also announced Joey Gase will run a second team part time in the Cup Series in addition to his duties as a full-time NASCAR XFINITY Series driver.  The Gilliland's were in the news today as both Todd and David had some big announcements today. Todd will run a full-time Camping World Truck Series effort in Kyle Busch's No. 4 truck in 2018. However, Todd doesn't turn 18 until May 15, preventing him from running on the bigger tracks until then.  His father David will drive the No. 4 truck at Daytona in addition, he will attempt to make his 8th Daytona 500 driving for Ricky Benton Racing. It's the team's first venture into the Cup Series after running several years in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.  Also, racing legend Dan Gurney passed away this week at the age of 86. We'll reflect on his life and career.  Plus we'll take your phone calls at 917-889-8280!
