Lawn cleaned up. All the lights are up. Time for a cocktail! Got a lot done yesterday afternoon and I'm ready to cruise into the weekend. One week away from Thanksgiving & I'm already dreaming about that crockpot mac-n-cheese!!!! In the news this morning, President Trump signed the bill directing the DOJ to release all of the Epstein files, a bill that would have partly legalized online sports betting in WI was pulled at the last minute, Taco Bell is adding three fan-created items to their menus, and now that pennies are no longer being produced…should we get rid of ALL coins? In sports, the Bucks play the 76ers tonight, Badger men's basketball has a tough test tomorrow afternoon against #9 BYU, the football team is at home against #21 Illinois on Saturday, Week 12 in the NFL kicks off tonight with the Bills & Texans on Thursday Night Football, Brandon Woodruff is going to be back with the Brew Crew next season, and the Brewers are going to be taking on the Braves in the 2026 MLB Little League Classic! Elsewhere in sports, Major League Baseball announced some new media deals yesterday with ESPN & Netflix, the "Field of Dreams" game is returning next season, and an update on the Patrick Beverly case. Let you know what's on TV today/tonight and also discussed a documentary about the rise & fall of Susan Powter(STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!!!!). Plus…have you ever heard a song featuring both Ozzy & Madonna??? Well, now you have. As I mentioned, Thanksgiving is one week from today, and in today's Thanksgiving news - the best & worst days to travel…and the cost per person for Thanksgiving dinner. Office Cora joined me just after 8am and let me know what she's up to this weekend in the 715. And even though Jean is still in Europe, it's "Hypothetical Thursday", and my question for you was: "What's one thing you can never have enough of?". Cora's question for me was: "Would you hug more people if hugs burned calories?" An animal sanctuary in Utah recently saved a great horned owl that fell into a cement mixer, and a bunch of college students at the University of Texas might have helped solve a murder case from 1991! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a drunk #FloridaMan who was trying to claim he had a medical issue(that he couldn't pronounce), an A.I. teddy bear that got removed from an online store after it was graphically describing BDSM and where to get knives, a United Airlines flight that returned to St. Louis because of a bomb threat, & a business that hired a guy to play Santa at their store without knowing that he had murdered his wife years before.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Another 'meh' day out there with a high of just 40° and plenty of clouds. I've got more leaves to rake today, which I'm not entirely enthused about. Mostly because the leaves are from my neighbor's trees. Not mine. On this hump day, I let you know what's on TV today/tonight and talked about the top podcasts of the year according to Apple. A couple of cops in New Jersey recently rescued a driver from a burning vehicle after it crashed, and a casino in Virginia just handed out 500 free turkeys to families in need in their community! Get ready for an inspiring journey through untold stories of brilliance and creativity! In this episode, we dive deep into two incredible narratives that shine a light on overlooked pioneers who have transformed our understanding of science and music. First up, we meet Katie Hafner, the powerhouse behind the Lost Women of Science podcast and Middle Grade Novel. She's on a mission to uncover the remarkable stories of women scientists who have been systematically erased from history. Imagine brilliant minds whose groundbreaking work was stolen, ignored, or simply forgotten. From Dora Richardson, who synthesized the life-saving breast cancer drug tamoxifen, to Katie's own grandmother who researched premature infant blindness, these women are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Then, we switch gears to D A Royster's heartwarming tale of "Happy Music," a vibrant celebration of New Orleans jazz history. Through the eyes of a young girl, we explore the legendary Club Desire - a groundbreaking venue started by Dana's grandfather in the 1940s. This was no ordinary music club - it was a cultural landmark where legends like Fats Domino and Ella Fitzgerald got their start, breaking racial barriers one musical note at a time. Both stories share a powerful message: creativity, innovation, and passion know no boundaries. Whether you're a science enthusiast, music lover, or just someone who appreciates incredible human stories, this episode will inspire you to look beyond the surface and celebrate the unsung heroes who have shaped our world. Want to learn more? Check out "Lost Women of Science" and "Happy Music" - two books that prove extraordinary stories are waiting to be discovered.
