PennLive's Johnny McGonigal and Bob Flounders discuss some predictions involving James Franklin's 2025 Penn State Nittany Lions. Will the Nittany Lions have a 1,000-yard wideout, given the additions the team made at the position? Will PSU beat Ohio State? And here is an interesting one: Will either Kaytron Allen or Nick Singleton pass Evan Royster and become Penn State's all-time leading rusher? Could both runners do it? In today's livestream, Joe DeLeone and Blake Ruffino dive deep into the quarterback battles at Notre Dame and Ohio State, two of the most talked-about positions heading into the season. Who's taking the lead in spring practices? Who has the edge heading into the fall? Plus, we shift focus to Penn State's 2025 outlook — how will James Franklin's squad do with Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, and Kaytron Allen returning
On their weekly podcast, host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey react to the Steelers' offseason moves so far. How do moves for names like DK Metcalf, Kenneth Gainwell, Darius Slay and -- potentially -- Aaron Rodgers compare to GM Omar Khan's action in his first two seasons? Does this group compare well with the 2023 NFL free agency class that included Elandon Roberts, Larry Ogunjobi and Isaac Seumalo? Or the 2024 group that included Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Patrick Queen and DeShon Elliott? Will a lack of NFL draft picks naturally lead to a less bountiful offseason? And how should the stockpiling of compensatory picks for 2026 factor into this conversations? Later, the guys get into some college talk with Pitt, Penn State and West Virginia all stating spring practice. Are eyes on Drew Allar in Happy Valley as he looks to shake off a College Football Playoff loss to Notre Dame? Can he get the most out of a loaded roster that includes returnees such as Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen and more? And are receiver transfers Devonte Ross and Kyron Hudson enough to help the passing game as it loses Tyler Warren to the NFL? In Morgantown, what kind of difference can the return of coach Rich Rodriguez make? And can Eli Holstein, Desmond Reid and the Panthers emerge from mediocrity? Our duo tackles those questions. Then in the third segment, airing on the PG Pirates YouTube channel, Adam and Jason get into predictions for the Pirates and the MLB season. How many wins will manager Derek Shelton's club rack up? Can Paul Skenes, Mitch Keller and the pitching staff push them over the .500 mark? Or will the lineup led by Oneil Cruz, Bryan Reynolds and Ke'Bryan Hayes continue to struggle like it has in years past? What should we make of Carmen Mlodzinski earning a rotation spot? How will the catching situation play out with Endy Rodriguez making the Opening Day roster and Henry Davis starting in Class AAA? And why haven't we hear from owner Bob Nutting this spring?

Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey joins host Adam Bittner to react to the passing of legendary Penguins broadcaster Mike Lange late Wednesday night at the age of 76. What legacy does he leave the team, NHL and hockey community at large? What are some of Jason's best memories of getting to know Mike on a personal level over the years? What were some of his best moments on the mic? And why is he every bit a piece of franchise lore alongside on-ice heroes like Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin? Our duo tackles those poignant questions, then dives into some hockey talk about the U.S. vs. Canada championship match of the Four Nations Face-off. Can Penguins coach Mike Sullivan and his American team recreate their defensive magic from the first matchup over the weekend. Will there be more booing and fisticuffs? And has this tournament reminded the right people that Crosby remains every bit the face of hockey and Team Canada that Connor McDavid is? Then later, Adam and Jason ponder Penn State's College Football Playoff chances next season following Jason's column on the topic. Are the returns of Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen and Dani Dennis-Sutton enough to make this program a dominant force? Or will it need transfer additions at wide receiver like Devonte Ross and Kyron Hudson to make an impact to take a step forward from a crushing loss to Notre Dame in the CFP semifinals at the Orange Bowl last month? In the third segment, airing on the PG's new Pirates-focused channel, the topic is payrolls disparity in MLB and the need for a salary cap to even things out. Are tight spenders like the Pirates' Bob Nutting or free spending teams like the Dodgers, Yankees and Mets the sport's biggest problem? How much should revenue sharing be part of the conversation around payroll? And how much would transparency in these matters help quell fans' angst? Adam and Jason try to answer those questions, then weigh in on some baseball topics, including the first base situation amid Spencer Horwitz's injury. Is Nick Yorke a good fit as a replacement? Why is it the right move to keep Bryan Reynolds in the outfield? And what impact can Tommy Pham have on the clubhouse culture, starting with his relationship with Oneil Cruz?

Penn State news: Seider officially announced at Notre Dame Today, we'll start with the news that former Penn State running backs coach JaJuan Seider has officially been announced as the new running backs coach at Notre Dame. We'll discuss the details of Seiders' new situation and recap the transition to new running backs coach Stan Drayton. Next, we'll briefly discuss the latest recruiting news from the Nittany Lions. Teams are lining up official visits for the upcoming summer recruiting surge, during which most of Penn State's class will be decided. Check out the site for more information about who plans to show up in Happy Valley during May and June. Roster Update released last week Penn State provided the first roster udpate for 2025 after the week's BWI Live Show went off the air. Today, we'll review the changes and updates from the previous list of players on campus. We'll mainly focus on the team's freshman class and which players showed up with the measurables to contribute next fall if things go well for each player. Rebuilding the Penn State offense Kotelnicki dramatically improved the team's explosive play percentage on offense last year and helped the program reach its first Big Ten Championship game since 2016 and a college football playoff run. As always, teams must evolve and change year to year based on the talent turnover from the previous season. While much of the core remains the same from 2024, there are places that Penn State can adapt and change the plan for the upcoming season. We're discussing the schemes and ideas the team can implement to help generate even more explosive plays in the passing game. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Redesigning the Penn State Offense for 2025 | WHO Are You Building Around?
Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube: https://bit.ly/3KzEcqKCheck out the site too! - https://bit.ly/3u8dilDThe Penn State Football team became victim of the College Football Playoff coaching shuffle early on Sunday when running back's coach JaJuan Seider reportedly accepted an offer to coach at Notre Dame. The Lions had just poached their own coach from CFP Champion Ohio State two weeks earlier so the dynamic of late-offseason coaching changes isn't new to the program at this point. Now, the team will need to replace one of the longest-tenured assistants under head coach James Franklin. We'll discuss that, Penn State superstar Saquon Barkley winning a Super Bowl, and more on today's BWI Live Show. Join us at 10 a.m. on YouTube or catch the replay on the channel, site, or wherever you get your podcasts. Don't forget to subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel so you don't miss any off-season press conferences or breaking news! Saquon Barkley wins his first Super Bowl We'll start off with Barkley's win in Super Bowl LIX. The former Penn State running back carried the ball 25 times for just 57 yards, but his team dominated the Kansas City Chiefs on the way to a 40-22 blowout victory that featured 16 Chiefs points in the fourth quarter once the game was put away. We'll discuss Barkley's historic season, plus talk about the game. Join us to get in on the conversation! Penn State needs to replace a top assistant Of course, the main focus of today's show is on the team's loss of Seider to recruiting rival Notre Dame. Seider has been one of the team's top assistants over the last seven years and has brought a steady flow of high-quality running back prospects to the program in recent years. What's the sting factor in losing him? What can the team do to replace him quickly, and does this represent an opportunity to change and refresh the room? We'll also discuss the recruiting aspect of that conversation in Fitz's recruiting update. From there, we'll discuss Sean Fitz's recruiting big board, which you can check out at Blue White Illustrated by signing up for a membership to the site. We'll also review the summer official visit schedule, which is filling up in early February. Penn State freshmen meet the mediaTomorrow marks the start of the 2025 season for Penn State football with the February media day. Franklin will speak to the media for the first time since his team's loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl to discuss a variety of topics, including hiring defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, the loss of Seider, and more. We'll also get our first chance to meet the Class of 2024 freshmen, which completed its first year on campus. Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey joins host Adam Bittner to tackle the hot topics in Pittsburgh sports, starting with the Steelers' struggles at the wide receiver position in 2024. Was owner Art Rooney II just being realistic about the team's lack of talent in the passing game when stating his preference to build around the running game earlier this week? Who or what is most responsible for the current mess in the WR room. Is it former GM Kevin Colbert and current GM Omar Khan for failing to cultivate depth? Is it Mike Tomlin's personality management of players like George Pickens, Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool? Was it moving on from JuJu Smith-Schuster, who's now an important piece for Patrick Mahomes and the Super Bowl-bound Kansas City Chiefs? And where do depth options like Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson fit into the conversation? Our duo tackles those questions, then reacts to headlines on the college front. How crucial was Pitt basketball's victory against the North Carolina Tar Heels this week? Is Jeff Capel starting to figure out how to better use his forwards around star guards like Jaland Lowe and Ishmael Leggett? And on the Penn State front, what does the Jim Knowles hiring say about James Franklin's intent to compete at a championship level? And does early 2025 College Football Playoff hype make sense for this team with the return of key pieces like Drew Allar, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen? The later, the guys react to the Pirates' sluggishness in MLB free agency. What is the primary reason GM Ben Cherington has made only small moves like signing Andrew McCutchen and Adam Frazier or trading for Spencer Horwitz so far? Is TV revenue an issue? Is saving for a Paul Skenes extension a possibility? And how much trouble are Cherington and manager Derek Shelton in? Should we interpret the inactivity as a signal that they feel comfortable?
Audrey Snyder and Jon Sauber react to Penn State making a splash hire and bringing on Jim Knowles as defensive coordinator. Tune in for thoughts on big a hire this is for the program, what it means for the 2025 Nittany Lions and how James Franklin made the biggest offseason move to date. Plus, with the return of Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Zane Durant and more is 2025 a make or break year for Penn State? Learn more about your ad choices. On a special edition of their Penn State football podcast, host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette/Daily College Nittany Lions insider Joel Haas react to reports that the program is hiring Ohio State DC Jim Knowles to the same position with a record-breaking coordinator contract. Does the bombshell move signal an all-in mentality from coach James Franklin's program heading into 2025? Could Penn State attract any elite talent -- such as star safety Caleb Downs -- away from the coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes via the transfer portal? How much did the return of stars like Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen, Zane Durant, Dani Dennis-Sutton and Zakee Wheatley influence the move? What does the big contract say about how invested Penn State's top donors are in breaking through at the national level? What level of impact did Penn State's College Football Playoff breakthrough have on the situation? And how much will familiarity with Ohio State and Oregon help the Lions in their pursuit of a national championship? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
On their Penn State football podcast, host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette/Daily Collegian Nittany Lions insider Joel Haas react to a busy week of personnel moves following the College Football Playoff loss to Notre Dame at the Orange Bowl. Will coach James Franklin miss Tom Allen as DC after his move to join Dabo Swinney at Clemson? Or are Anthony Poindexter, Dan Connor, Al Golden and D'Anton Lynn attractive possible alternatives? What about Harrison "Trey" Wallace and Omari Evans at receiver? Will their transfer portal departures hurt? Or could they be addition by subtraction after their no-show efforts in Miami? And can transfers Kyron Hudson from USC and Devonte Ross from Troy step into those roles capably? Our duo tackles those questions, then ponders NFL draft decisions. Does Penn State have the depth to stay elite despite the loss of names like Tyler Warren, Abdul Carter and Kobe King? To what degree can names like Dani Dennis-Sutton and Luke Reynolds step up behind them? And how encouraging are the returns of Dennis-Sutton, Drew Allar, Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen and Zane Durant for Penn State's NIL program?

Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern with a focus on Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's season-ending news conference following an NFL playoffs loss to the Baltimore Ravens. What should we make of Tomlin demurring on the question of whether WR George Pickens was late for the game against Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas? What should be done with Pickens moving forward? And how realistic would it be for Jets WR Davante Adams to join this team after saying he would "100%" like to play for Tomlin in Pittsburgh. Later, Paul also gets in QB talk. How much should we believe Tomlin's comments about them, given his enthusiastic support for Kenny Pickett last year before the trade that sent him to Philadelphia? Is Justin Fields a legitimate candidate to start in 2025? Is he the better option than bringing back Russell Wilson? Or is GM Omar Khan better off looking to trade, free agency or NFL draft options like Sam Darnold, Aaron Rodgers? Then later, Paul ponders how dangerous Penn State could be be as a College Football Playoff contender next season amid the announced returns of stars Drew Allar, Kaytron Allen, Nick Singleton and Dani Dennis-Sutton?

Does James Franklin need a win to shed his label of struggling to win big games for good? Or has he done enough with wins against SMU in the first round and Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl? And how important is it for Penn State as a program to beat a Fighting Irish program that's similarly fallen just short of joining the nation's elite programs? In terms of the matchup itself, does Penn State have the edge in star power with Drew Allar, Kaytron Allen, Nick Singleton, Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren? How many players should O Andy Kotelnicki and DC Tom Allen fear beyond Jeremiyah Love and Xavier Watts, with Rylie Mills out because of injury? What's the injury situation for Carter? Does Allar or Riley Leonard have more to prove in the QB matchup? And which opponent should Penn State prefer to see come out of the Cotton Bowl? A red-hot Ohio State team that they know? Or a talented Texas Longhorns team that they don't?

Audrey & Jon share their thoughts on Penn State's win against Boise State in the 2024 Fiesta Bowl by the score of 31-14. The Nittany Lions jumped out with the early lead on stellar play from the offense led by Drew Allar, Tyler Warren and Omari Evans touchdowns. The defense stifled Ashton Jeanty and Amin Vanover, Dvon J-Thomas, Zakee Wheatley and Dani Dennis-Sutton all stepped up in the absence of Abdul Carter who was out due to injury. Late it was Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton who took over behind a stout offensive line. The victory James Franklin is his second straight over a top 10 opponent as the Nittany Lions get their 13th win of the season. Joel Haas and Lyle Alenstein react to Penn State's win over Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, which secured a spot for the Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl and College Football Playoff semifinals against either Notre Dame or Georgia. Was the game too close for comfort with likely tougher challenges awaiting? How far can running backs Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton carry this team after another dominant performance on the ground? What about the Drew Allar and Tyler Warren passing connection that resulted in a pair of scores against the Broncos? What's the latest on Abdul Carter and Dani Dennis-Sutton, who both left the game with injuries? What does this win do for coach James Franklin's legacy? And should OC Andy Kotelnicki change up his play calling after going away from the running game while it was working? Our duo tackles those topics and more.

Penn State gets the job doneIt wasn't perfect, but Penn State dominated Boise State in enough facets of the game to get the win. The Lions did what most thought was impossible and kept Ashton Jeanty contained for the entirety of the Fiesta Bowl. The superstar tailback managed only 96 yards on 24 carries before Penn State put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter. The team did it without star linebacker Abdul Carter, who went down with a shoulder injury in the first quarter and did not return. Overall, the team racked up eight tackles for loss to keep Jeanty contained before he got going.Offensively, Penn State used another strong game from Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton to power the win. Allen was his typical gritty self, grinding out 15 carries for 131 yards. Singleton contributed a 58-yard touchdown to seal the game. On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey previews the Fiesta Bowl between Penn State and Boise State with a spot in the College Football Playoff semifinals on the line. Is Nittany Lions coach James Franklin right about the state of the sport and his call for Alabama Crimson Tide legend Nick Saban to be commissioner? Does Penn State's old-school approach of relying on home-grown talent like Drew Allar, Tyler Warren, Abdul Carter, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen make it an easy program to root for in this transfer portal era? And what will the Lions need to do to beat Ashton Jeanty and the Broncos? Jason tackles those questions, checks in on former Steelers great WR Hines Ward at Arizona State and wonders if new Pitt AD is asking tough questions about coach Pat Narduzzi after a frustrating bowl loss to Toledo.
The Nittany Lions have arrived in the desert as they prepare for their matchup with the Broncos of Boise State. James Franklin leads a team that is still riding high after a dominant performance against SMU in the first round of the playoff into their next game with a path to the semifinals on the line. How will Penn State prepare to slow down the top running back in college football in Ashton Jeanty? What did the defensive line have to say about the job they have ahead of them and how does the offense matchup with the Boise D? Can Drew Allar go off against their passing defense or will Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen continue their late season big game trend? Plus, can Boise slow down Abdul Carter or Dani Dennis-Sutton how will Jaylen Reed be lined up. On their weekly Penn State football podcast, host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette/Daily Collegian Nittany Lions insider Joel Haas preview the Fiesta Bowl against Boise State with a trip to the Orange Bowl and College Football Playoff semifinals on the line. Will Ashton Jeanty and the Broncos provide a tougher test than SMU did in Round 1? Or will Penn State's talent advantage yield a similar result? How much will the neutral site factor into the game after the Beaver Stadium crowd was a major factor against the Mustangs? And who will have the biggest performance if Penn State wins? Drew Allar? Nick Singleton? Kaytron Allen? Abdul Carter? Tyler Warren? Or someone else, like Dominic DeLuca, who had a pair of interceptions against SMU? Later our duo ponders the goings on in the rest of the playoff bracket and Penn State world. Should Penn State prefer to face Georgia or Notre Dame in the next round? Should it hope Oregon or Ohio State advances out of the Rose Bowl? Will Troy transfer Devonte Ross provide a boost to the receiving corps in 2025? And what's next for the women's volleyball program after Katie Schumacher-Cawley and Jess Mruzik led it to an eighth national title last weekend?

It was a day for the defense as Dominic DeLuca had two interceptions, including a pick six, and Tony Rojas had one that went for another pick six as the Nittany Lions stifled the SMU offense to earn a place in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Abdul Carter threw in numerous pressures and a sack as well as Dani Dennis-Sutton who helped terrorize Kevin Jennings in a huge win for James Franklin. Penn State's offense struggled early but took over on the ground as Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen both averaged nearly seven yards per carry. Drew Allar could not find his receivers but made plays with his legs to help the cause as the Nittany Lions had a comfortable lead at the half. Penn State takes care of SMU by forcing mistakesIn the Big Ten Championship game, Penn State was the team that made mistakes and turned the ball over. The script flipped on Saturday in the win over SMU. The defense forced three first-half turnovers on interceptions of Kevin Jennings, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Linebackers Dom DeLuca and Tony Rojas fueled a 28-0 first-half surge from the Nittany Lions that put the game out of reach. The Penn State offense had another sluggish and uneven performance. However, they did enough to complement the defense in the win. The ground game got going with a 25-yard touchdown run by Kaytron Allen in the first half. Overall, it was still a quiet day for the running backs, who failed to crack 100 yards on the day. More postgame contentJoin us for more reaction from Beaver Stadium after the win. On their weekly Penn State football podcast, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette/Daily Collegian Nittany Lions insider Joel Haas to preview the College Football Playoff first-round matchup with SMU on Saturday at Beaver Stadium. Is this Drew Allar's big chance to show a big audience what he can do in a do-or-die moment? Have he and coach James Franklin been slept on because casual fans only see them fail in big games? Was Allar's announced return in 2025 a surprise? Or a smart move for his NFL draft stock? And how will the rest of the quarterback room fill out behind him, with Ethan Grunkemeyer and Jaxon Smolik vying to replace transfer Beau Pribula as the No. 2 guy? Our duo tackles those questions and more, including: How much can transfer portal addition Kyron Hudson help the weak wide receiver corps next season? Could former USC Trojans teammates Zachariah and Zion Branch join him in Happpy Valley? Could Penn State see other key players like Abdul Carter, Kaytron Allen or Nick Singleton return next season? How does the PSU defense match up with SMU stars like QB Kevin Jennings, RB Brashard Smith and WRs Roderick Daniels Jr. and Key'Shawn Smith? Does the men's basketball team have March Madness potential after receiving AP poll votes this week? And what are the women's volleyball tam's chances to stop rival Pitt from winning a national title this week?
No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers (+12.5) at No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, Noon ET, FOX I'm doing a 180 on Indiana. I've doubted them before, but their perfect season has me more nervous about how they'll perform as favorites rather than underdogs. Still, they have enough fight to stay within a dozen points. Pick: Indiana +12.5 No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels (-10.5) at Florida Gators, Noon ET, ABC The Gators capitalized on LSU mistakes last week, but DJ Lagway's health and decision-making remain questionable. Ole Miss, with their consistent execution, should handle Florida comfortably. They're a playoff dark horse and should continue their dominance here. Pick: SMU -9.5 No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions (-12.5) at Minnesota Golden Gophers, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS Penn State is solid but not spectacular, and this matchup feels low-scoring. Minnesota's defense should help them cover this sizable spread. Pick: Minnesota +12.5 No. 14 BYU Cougars (+3.5) at No. 21 Arizona State Sun Devils, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN BYU's luck ran out last week, while Arizona State controls its Big 12 fate. With home-field advantage and a rising trajectory, the Sun Devils should prevail. Pick: Arizona State -3.5 No. 16 Colorado Buffaloes (-3.5) at Kansas Jayhawks, 3:30 p.m. ET, FOX Kansas delivered last week, and with a healthy Jalon Daniels, they can score with anyone. Expect another upset bid against Colorado. Pick: Kansas +3.5 No. 19 Army Black Knights (+14.5) vs. No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Yankee Stadium), 7:00 p.m. ET, NBC Notre Dame has been dominant, but Army's top-ranked scoring defense should make this a low-scoring, closer-than-expected contest. Pick: Army +14.5 No. 12 Boise State Broncos (-23.5) at Wyoming Cowboys, 7:00 p.m. ET, CBSSN Boise State is rolling, led by Jeanty's dominance. Wyoming isn't built to keep up with a top-tier team like this. Pick: Boise State -23.5 No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide (-14.5) at Oklahoma Sooners, 7:30 p.m. ET, ABC Oklahoma's postseason hopes depend on an upset. However, Alabama and Jalen Milroe present too much firepower for the Sooners to handle this week. Pick: Alabama -14.5 No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies (-2.5) at Auburn Tigers, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN This line is puzzling, but Auburn at home in a potential lookahead spot for Texas A&M makes them worth the pick. Pick: Auburn +2.5 DK Saturday Main Slate DFS Picks Record Year to Date: 19 Wins 25 Ties 21 Losses Quarterback Riley Leonard, Notre Dame ($9,500) – Leonard is a dual-threat QB with a high floor and ceiling against Virginia's porous pass defense. He's a great anchor for lineups with rushing TD upside. Cade Klubnik, Clemson ($8,600) – Klubnik has rebounded nicely, with three TDs against Virginia Tech. Facing Pitt's struggling secondary, he's a safe pick with rushing upside. Running Back Isaac Brown, Louisville ($6,700) – Brown is mispriced for his role, averaging 24+ fantasy points. He thrives in Louisville's run-heavy scheme and is a must-play against Stanford's poor run defense. Kaytron Allen, Penn State ($4,900) – If Nick Singleton sits, Allen becomes a lock for volume against Purdue. If Singleton plays, Allen still offers value but with limited exposure. Wide Receiver Will Sheppard, Colorado ($3,600) – Sheppard benefits from Colorado's pass-heavy attack and has emerged as a value option with consistent targets and scoring potential. TJ Moore, Clemson ($3,200) – Moore's consistency and low price make him an ideal salary saver. He's shown increased involvement and could be due for a breakout game. Learn more about your ad choices. No. 3 Texas Longhorns (-12.5) at Arkansas Razorbacks, Noon ET, ABC Texas hasn't had a dominant win yet, though their schedule hasn't challenged them much. Arkansas, coming off a bye, has been struggling but won't roll over at home. They could keep it close or even pull off an upset. Pick: Arkansas +12.5 No. 20 Clemson Tigers (-11.5) at Pitt Panthers, Noon ET, ESPN Pitt has struggled recently, but Clemson hasn't been flawless either. While logic points to Clemson, Pitt's home advantage and potential to rebound make them worth the points. Pick: Pitt +11.5 Utah Utes (+11.5) at No. 17 Colorado Buffaloes, Noon ET, FOX Colorado has improved on both sides of the ball, but Utah's gritty, close-game style could challenge them. Kyle Whittingham may have something up his sleeve for this one. Pick: Utah +11.5 Virginia Cavaliers (+23.5) at No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 3:30 p.m. ET, NBC Notre Dame has been dominant recently and is one of the best ATS teams under Marcus Freeman. Still, taking Virginia feels like a gamble worth trying. Pick: Virginia +23.5 Boston College Eagles (+19.5) at No. 14 SMU Mustangs, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN SMU's path to an ACC title has opened up, and with Thomas Castellanos out for Boston College, SMU should roll. Pick: SMU -19.5 No. 23 Missouri Tigers (+14.5) at No. 21 South Carolina Gamecocks, 4:15 p.m. ET, SEC Network South Carolina's defense at home should handle a Missouri team that has struggled to replicate last year's success. Pick: South Carolina -14.5 No. 1 Oregon Ducks (-13.5) at Wisconsin Badgers, 7:00 p.m. ET, NBC Oregon faces a tough road test in Madison. The Badgers, fresh off a blowout loss to Iowa, could make this closer than expected. November challenges like this can define champions. Pick: Wisconsin +13.5 No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers (+9.5) at No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs, 7:30 p.m. ET, ABC Georgia has the edge, but Tennessee's uncertainty, especially with Nico's post-concussion play, makes this a tricky pick. Still, Georgia seems better positioned to cover. Pick: Georgia -9.5 UAB Blazers (+15.5) at Memphis Tigers, 8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2 Memphis has been inconsistent, while UAB can score. This could be closer than expected and is a more entertaining watch than the Georgia game. Pick: UAB +15.5 Kansas Jayhawks (+2.5) at No. 6 BYU Cougars, 10:15 p.m. ET, ESPN BYU has lived on the edge this season, but Kansas feels primed for an upset. The line suggests this could be their week. Pick: Kansas +2.5 DK Saturday Main Slate DFS Picks Record Year to Date: 19 Wins 25 Ties 21 Losses Quarterback Riley Leonard, Notre Dame ($9,500) – Leonard checks every box this week: mobile QB, home favorite, and facing a weak Virginia pass defense. With 13 rushing touchdowns this season and a 35+ point team total, Leonard has slate-breaking potential. Cade Klubnik, Clemson ($8,600) – Klubnik has been consistent, with three or more TDs in six of nine games. Facing Pitt's struggling secondary, he's a reliable play, bolstered by Clemson's emerging young receivers. Running Back Isaac Brown, Louisville ($6,700) – Brown is a lock, averaging 24+ fantasy points per game since taking over six weeks ago. Louisville's run-heavy offense and a favorable matchup make him a must-play. Kaytron Allen, Penn State ($4,900) – With Nick Singleton possibly limited or out, Allen becomes a high-volume play. If Singleton sits, Allen is a lock for 20+ carries at a great value. Wide Receiver Will Sheppard, Colorado ($3,600) – Sheppard has stepped up in Colorado's pass-heavy offense, especially after Jimmy Horn's injury. With touchdowns in four of five games, he's the best value option. TJ Moore, Clemson ($3,200) – Moore has emerged as a consistent target in Clemson's offense, with two touchdowns and strong yardage in recent games. His low price and upside make him an excellent salary saver. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Halftime changes the momentum The Penn State third-quarter defense took things to a new level on Saturday, powering the wounded team to a victory. The defense forced a three-and-out to start its work in the second half. Then, on third and 15 from his own end zone, Wisconsin quarterback Braeden Locke threw a pick-six interception to safety Jaylen Reed. Reed's score was the catalyst that helped propel the team to the win. The defense put clamps on Wisconsin on all but one drive, where Locke threw a 33-yard deep shot after running an up-tempo play to get Penn State off-balance. But from there, the Nittany Lions snuffed out the Wisconsin offense, forcing multiple three-and-outs during the game. Injuries change momentum, Penn State changes it back The story of the game was nearly that Penn State's best players exited in the first half and the team lost an undefeated season with that fateful luck. The Nittany Lions struggled to find a rhythm on offense despite putting up 194 yards in the first half. Part of the issues started in the first quarter when starting right tackle Anthony Donkoh suffered another injury while in pass protection of quarterback Drew Allar. After trying to come back into the game for a drive, he was shut down for the rest of the game. But the full Andy Kotelnicki run offense was unleashed in the second half with backup quarterback Beau Pribula. The third-year passer engineered an impressive offensive performance that powered Penn State to a victory. Pribula gained 28 yards rushing and 98 yards passing on the way to a 21-point outburst in the third and early fourth quarters. What else happened in the game? On their weekly Penn State football podcast, host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette/Daily Collegian insider Joel Haas preview an important game for the Nittany Lions against Wisconsin. Could this be a trap game for coach James Franklin's squad following an emotional win at USC and ahead of crucial home matchups with Ohio State and Washington? On their weekly Penn State football podcast, host Adam Bittner and Post-Gazette/Daily Collegian insider Joe Haas preview the fourth-ranked Nittany Lions' crucial road game against the USC Trojans on Saturday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Are slow starts a concern for OC Andy Kotelnicki's unit as it enters a brand new Big Ten environment? Or is he using first halves to set up big plays, much like the 2016 conference championship team under Joe Moorhead did? How are Penn State receivers including Trey Wallace, Liam Clifford, Julian Fleming and Omari Evans performing relative to expectations. Are Penn State cornerbacks Jalen Kimber and A.J. Harris ready for the challenge of facing USC's high-flying passing game led by Miller Moss, Zachariah Branch and Jakobi Lane? And how important is Nick Singleton's potential return to teammate Kaytron Allen and the running game? Our duo tackles those topics as well as James Franklin's thoughts on the logistics of traveling to Los Angeles; the impact of USC's loss to Minnesota on Penn State's resume; and the implications of the Ohio State-Oregon game for the Lions.
The Nittany Lions got off to another slow start on both sides of the ball but took control of the game in the second half and improved to 5-0 on the season. Penn State beat UCLA 27-11 and James Franklin's team avoided a let down following the win over Illinois. Drew Allar threw for 237 yards and a touchdown while Kaytron Allen was the primary back with Nick Singleton out for an undisclosed reason. Liam Clifford had over 100 yards receiving and Vega Lane had an unforgettable pancake that will go down in Nittany Lion history. Now the lions head on the road to meet USC in LA and Audrey & Jon share their first thoughts on the matchup.
