Marti Gobel is a nationally recognized actor, director and teaching artist. Upon graduating from UW-Whitewater in 2008 with a degree in Performance Theatre and Philosophy (with an emphasis in Religious Studies), Ms. Gobel began a rich career in both theatre and television and film. Her need to add to the tapestry of the mid-west professional theatre scene led to the founding of the now defunct UPROOTED theatre. As Producing Artistic Director (from 2009-2015)  worked tirelessly to diversify the arts through her efforts. National television credits include NBC's Chicago PD in addition to several regional commercials.University Productions include: Airness (Hendrix College), Wine In the Wilderness, Crumbs From the Table of Joy, The Light (Marquette University), Trojan Women (UW-Milwaukee).Marti has served as a lead teacher at First Stage Theatre Academy in Milwaukee as well as a lead teacher and program designer for UPROOTED theatre's education department. Past adjunct professor assignments at Marquette University, UW-Milwaukee and Carthage College. She is a JF Kennedy Center trained Teaching Artist who worked closely with Master Educator, Randy Barron for 6 months developing her residency which is now offered through The Young Auditorium and The Overture Center. She currently serves as Artistc Consultant for Black Arts MKE. In this episode, I spoke with Los Angeles-based architect and educator Aaron Gensler. In our conversation, we talk about the evolution of architectural education, ways to be an educator, and several topics surrounding architecture school, including studio culture, all-nighters, the creative process, and final review juries.Aaron is a Visiting Associate Professor and the Chair of the Undergraduate and Graduate Architecture Programs at Woodbury University in Los Angeles. She serves on the National Council for Madame Architect and is a member of the Board of Trustees for California College of the Arts.Aaron is one half of GenslerClipp—an architecture, design, and research practice based in Southern California. Prior to forming GenslerClipp, she held design positions at a diverse array of firms from Los Angeles to Rwanda.She received her Master of Architecture from Cornell University, where she was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi Medal and, more recently, was awarded a Robert James Eidlitz Travel Fellowship. Howard Sherman is a theatre administrator, writer, and advocate. He has been executive director of the American Theatre Wing and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, managing director of Geva Theatre, general manager of Goodspeed Musicals, and public relations director of Hartford Stage, as well as interim director of the Alliance for Inclusion in the Arts. He has also held administrative positions at the Westport Country Playhouse, Manhattan Theatre Club, and Philadelphia Festival Theatre for New Plays.  Since 2012, he has been the US columnist and a feature writer for The Stage newspaper in London, and in 2018 was named Contributing Editor of Stage Directions magazine. His writing has appeared in a number of other publications including Slate, The New York Times, The Guardian, and American Theatre magazine.  Howard frequently consults, writes and speaks on issues of censorship and artists’ rights in both academic and professional theatre and he created the Arts Integrity Initiative in 2015 to focus on those efforts. He has delivered keynote addresses for, among others, the Educational Theatre Association, KCACTF, Florida Association for Theatre Education, and the Texas Educational Theatre Association’s Arts Program Administrators Conference. He was cited as one of the Top 40 Free Speech Defenders in 2014 by the National Coalition Against Censorship and received the Dramatists Legal Defense Fund’s “Defender” Award in 2015.  A native of New Haven, Connecticut and graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Howard resides in New York with his wife, producer Lauren Doll. In 2020, Erick earned his BA with a major in Theatre and Spanish at Albright College in Reading, PA. He's been acting for 4years and has performed in over 36 productions ranging from theatrical plays, to improvisational acting, to sketch comedy, to educational workshops, to student short films. The Kennedy Center of American Theatre Festival has recognized and awarded his work 3 times: In 2018, he earned a nomination for KCACTF 51's Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Competition for his performance as Walter Lee Younger in Albright College's production of Lorraine Hansberry's “A Raisin In The Sun.” In 2019, he obtained acknowledgement of “Nationally Distinguished Performance In a Role” for his work in the "A Raisin In The Sun" performance at KCACTF 51 in Montclair, NJ. On this episode your co-hosts Azaria and Reyna interview Georgia based musician and composer David Dingess. David Dingess began sound composition and recording at the age of 15. He began releasing his work to the public during his sophomore year of college, and shortly after began to receive collaboration requests from the Georgia College departments of Theatre and Dance. Since then, David has composed for plays, dance recitals, film and social media posts for companies like Bareminerals and Tory Burch. David was a KCACTF national finalist and received honorable mention for composition and studied under Tony award-winning sound designer Rob Kaplowitz. He was also awarded Best Music at NYC Webfest 2015 for his music in R&J: The Web Series. He holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Georgia College, and hopes to begin a masters program at his alma mater in the coming months. On this episode, we talk about negotiating the dancer/musician relationship, stealing from the past-self, pros and cons of globalizing art, the cycle of success for students who experience arts in education, and the dichotomy of following artists who inspire you on social media.

Stevens, the Kennedy Center's founding chairman, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater  in the United States. The KCACTF has grown into a network of more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, where theater departments and student artists showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.   Each year 8 regional festivals are presented in varying locations throughout the country.  The festival culminates each year in a national springtime festival at the Kennedy Center which showcases selected productions, provides student and faculty artists with training opportunities with theater’s finest practitioners, and rewards selected student artists with second step opportunities through fellowships, scholarships, and residencies. http://www.kennedy-center.org/education/actf/
