Ahead of Friday's Gameweek 8 meeting between Nottingham Forest and Fulham James is joined by Cottagers Correspondent Dara Curran to discuss Fulham's start to the season and hopes ahead of a very attractive fixture run. There's discussion on Fulham's likely best starting eleven going forward with the squad firmed up by the additions of late transfer window signings Layvin Kurzawa, Daniel James and Willian but there have been some impressive performances from the likes of Tim Ream and Neeskens Kebano which mean there's no guarantee the new additions get straight into the team. Plus, early impressions on the integration of Bernd Leno, Paulinha and Andreas Pereira and why for FPL managers both Pereira and star striker Aleksander Mitrovic are so hard to ignore. Grading Paris Saint-Germain's Transfer Window + Champions League Preview

Paris Saint-Germain has yet to taste defeat this season, but that doesn't mean there isn't always room for improvement. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Marc Damon to dissect PSG's summer transfer window and preview the upcoming UEFA Champions League group stage, which kicks off next week against Juventus FC. We begin with the transfer window where PSG signed several players to strengthen the midfield especially, but also the overall depth of the squad. We also discuss the players who left the club and debate why Leonardo, PSG's former sporting director, was unable—or unwilling—to offload players like Julian Draxler and Layvin Kurzawa. One player who didn't leave, but was expected to, was Keylor Navas. Was this a case of no offers coming in for the Costa Rican, or, is this a sign that Christophe Galtier, PSG's manager, may not trust Gianluigi Donnarumma fully? After grading Luis Campos and Antero Henrique on their first transfer window for PSG, we turn our attention to the Champions League. The reigning French champions were drawn into a relatively easy group, but we discuss the challenges that Juventus and Benfica may present for Galtier who is relatively untested in the competition. We conclude the show with some talk about Ligue 1 broadcasting rights in the United States and the current form of Neymar Jr. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts. We take a look at each of Fulham's new faces in turn, giving them some brief analysis and discussing what they bring to SW6 - from James' pace to Willian's experience, and look at how they might fit into Silva's squad. We finish with a discussion of the window as a whole - what we're pleased about, what we're disappointed with, and if there's anything more to expect from Fulham as we push into September. Whew! It was downright painful to watch but Paris Saint-Germain are through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a 1-1 draw against FC Barcelona (5-2 on aggregate). On the latest episode of PSG Talking, I'm thrilled to be joined by https://twitter.com/its_jcj (James) and https://twitter.com/COKllstrm (Carl-Oscar), two contributors we haven't had on the show in a while but are passionate PSG supporters who know their stuff. We begin with our overall thoughts on a match that most supporters would call disappointing. Sure, PSG drew and advanced to the next round over their European rivals, but Barcelona's dominating performance definitely puts manager, Mauricio Pochettino, under the microscope (especially after the decision to start Julian Draxler). Miraculously, PSG did score first https://psgtalk.com/2021/03/video-mbappe-calmly-scores-a-penalty-goal-to-give-psg-a-dominating-5-1-champions-league-tie-lead-over-barcelona/ (via a Kylian Mbappé penalty) in the first half and we debate whether the penalty should have been given at all after incidental contact on Mauro Icardi. Speaking of penalties, the match turned on its head right before halftime when Layvin Kurzawa conceded a penalty. Lionel Messi, coming off a https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/messis-wonder-goal-vs-psg-may-have-been-his-last-in-the-champions-league-with-barcelona/ (rocket shot to tie the game), stepped up to take the penalty that was ultimately saved by Keylor Navas. That effort alone would have made Navas the https://psgtalk.com/2021/03/navas-won-champions-league-man-of-the-match-honors-for-the-performance-against-barcelona/ (Man of the Match) but the Costa Rica international made one spectacular save after another on the night and he showed why PSG moved on from players like Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp. In the second half, Pochettino used all of his substitutions, including taking off the struggling Kurzawa for Abdou Diallo. We discuss the manager's decisions, Diallo's surprisingly excellent performance, and how Angel Di Maria helped PSG close out the game. We wrap up the show by discussing the team's we hope PSG draws in the quarter-finals, whether Messi will come to PSG in the summer, and TV shows/movies we're watching at the moment. After that 90 minutes of hanging on for dear life, I think we all could benefit from watching something non-football. PSG Showcase Superior Talent Against Barcelona

***Visit https://manscaped.com/ (https://manscaped.com) and use code PSGTALK to receive 20% off and free shipping*** Since the 6-1 loss to FC Barcelona in 2017, Paris Saint-Germain set out to build a squad capable of competing with the Spanish giants in the UEFA Champions League. They took Neymar Jr. from them and added Kylian Mbappé. They also added role players like https://psgtalk.com/2021/02/video-kean-scores-the-biggest-goal-of-career-in-champions-league-clash-against-barcelona/ (Leandro Paredes and Moise Kean) who would compliment their superstars. On February 16, PSG went to the Camp Nou for a rematch in the Round of 16 of the Champions League and proceeded to https://www.goal.com/en/news/barcelonas-brutal-reality-check-mbappe-inspired-psg-show-why/1ls16ie0j7ke91n9rzc6f0jlvn (dominate Barcelona by a score of 4-1). PSG's superior talent was on display and on the latest 1970 podcast, we discuss how Mauricio Pochettino led his team to one of the most famous victories in club history. Joining me on the show as always is https://twitter.com/marcdamon9 (Marc Damon) and we begin by sharing our overall thoughts on the match. The scoreline and performance were a surprise due to the simple fact that Neymar was out injured and he had become intricate to PSG's offense. He is the player who unlocks defenses and allows Kylian Mbappé to be special. Without the Brazilian, all eyes were on Mbappé, and boy did he deliver by https://psgtalk.com/2021/02/mbappe-now-the-3rd-player-ever-to-score-a-champions-league-hat-trick-against-barcelona/ (scoring a hat-trick). When it comes to talent, we agree that PSG probably isn't quite at the level of Manchester City and FC Bayern Munich depth-wise, but Les Parisiens have two of the top five players in the world and no one else can say that. With Pochettino now at the helm, if he can continue to get the most out of Idrissa Gueye, Julian Draxler, Layvin Kurzawa, and others, PSG could be a team no one wants to face in the latter stages of the Champions League. In terms of the game itself, we talk about the ridiculous penalty decision given to Barcelona when Frenkie de Jong went down in the box after inadvertent contact with Kurzawa. I think the call was egregious while Marc believes while unfortunate, the decision was correct. Later in the show, we discuss whether Neymar should play in the return leg if he's not fully healthy and what PSG's mindset should be heading into that match. You'll also hear us talk about the passing of Paredes and Kean's incredible form since arriving https://psgtalk.com/2021/02/had-allegri-remained-moise-would-never-have-been-sold-keans-older-brother-on-the-psg-forwards-departure-from-juve/ (via loan from Everton). On the latest PSG Talking podcast, I welcome Mel, https://twitter.com/psgtourist (Matt), https://twitter.com/ofthedoor1 (Guillaume), and Ty to break down the game and pinpoint just how Mauricio Pochettino got it so right against PSG's hated European rivals. We start by asking the panel to give their overall thoughts on the match. From Leandro Paredes' masterclass in midfield to Layvin Kurzawa surprisingly strong performance at left-back, we discuss the players who made it all happen for Paris. One player who deserves a lot of credit for the result is Kylian Mbappé who https://psgtalk.com/2021/02/mbappe-now-the-3rd-player-ever-to-score-a-champions-league-hat-trick-against-barcelona/ (scored a hat-trick on the night). After struggling to score in the Champions League under the previous manager, Thomas Tuchel, what did Pochettino do to unlock Mbappé? Later in the show, I ask whether or not this result has killed Barcelona. Lionel Messi is https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2898705-report-lionel-messi-ends-barcelona-contract-talks-prepared-to-leave-in-2021 (out of contract at the end of the season) and the reported https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8917805/Barcelona-deep-financial-turmoil-720m-debt-administration-talk-premature.html (financial issues at the club) are dire. It could be a long time until we see this club seriously challenging for a Champions League title and PSG played a large part in that. The show concludes with a discussion about whether Neymar Jr. should play in the return leg against Barcelona if he's not 100% healthy. If he does and scores a goal, should he celebrate? On this episode, I'm joined by Matt (https://twitter.com/psgtourist) to discuss the latest headlines and answer a few questions from listeners sent in via Twitter. We begin the show by discussing the one confirmed Shamrock Rovers and Celtic FC (https://psgtalk.com/2020/07/psg-schedule-friendlies-against-shamrock-rovers-and-celtic/) . After Matt informs me that Ireland and Scotland are in fact two different countries, the panel shares what fans can expect from the squad after going more than three months without playing a match together. Layvin Kurzawa and Edinson Cavani are the next two topics up for discussion. The Frenchman surprisingly forgo an opportunity to win the UEFA Champions League (https://www.marca.com/futbol/liga-francesa/2020/06/20/5eee1c0eca4741c6488b45aa.html) . Will that decision affect Cavani's legacy with the club? Speaking of the Champions League, the draw for the quarter-finals will take place on July 10, and the guys share who they hope to see in the next round of the competition. Personally, I hope to see PSG take on Barcelona to watch Neymar torch his former team and put them out of their misery. We wrap up the show with a conversation about Neymar Jr. and the leave PSG for FC Bayern Munich (https://fcbayern.com/fcbayerntv/en/videos/2020/07/tanguy-nianzou-signs-for-fc-bayern) , and several Twitter questions. On today's show I'm joined by Amy Lawrence to discuss Mikel Arteta and how the rest of the season might play out. How should he approach it, and how should it be viewed by fans? We chat about the hierarchy and their role, transfer business, and prioritising Europe as it potentially has the greatest reward for us this season. Then, with links to left back Layvin Kurzawa, I speak to Phil Costa of OneFootball about the PSG man, what kind of player he is, the super-agent influence on this deal and some of the other club's business, and what it might mean in the summer for Sead Kolasinac. All that and some of the usual waffle.Follow Amy - @amylawrence71 Follow Phil - @_philcosta See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Paris Saint-Germain won their sixth straight Ligue 1 match in a row as they defeated Olympique Lyonnais 2-0 at the Parc des Princes on Sunday. The win was somewhat controversial as it took two own-goals for PSG to see the game through and secure the three points. Here to break down the highs and lows of the game is Marc Damon (@MarcDamon1), host of PSG Small Talk. In the latest episode, Marc talks about PSG's dominating start to the season and how important that is given all of the new faces in the squad. Against Lyon, several players performed well but Layvin Kurzawa continues to struggle. Is it time for the left-back to be replaced by Yuri Berchiche? Adrien Rabiot gutted out an impressive performance and Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe held things together on defense. As it always is with PSG though, the game is never just about the score or tactics. There's always drama. Marc gives his thoughts on the Neymar Jr./Edinson Cavani penalty kick fiasco (#penaltygate). Who should be PSG's primary penalty taker? If you would like to send in a question or topic for discussion, email PSGSmallTalk@gmail.com and we may read it on the next podcast. PSG Small Talk: Professional PSG Rout Celtic in Champions League

On Tuesday night, Paris Saint-Germain faced Celtic FC in Glasgow, Scotland, in what was their first real test under the bright UEFA Champions League lights since their big summer signings. With all eyes on Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé, the two attacking wingers delivered a performance that put the rest of Europe on notice. PSG Small Talk host Marc Damon (@MarcDamon1) dissects PSG's 5-0 win over Celtic and explains why this was as close to a perfect performance from Les Parisiens as we've seen in quite a while. Not only was the attacking trio of Edinson Cavani, Mbappé, and Neymar firing on all cylinders, but the midfield was outstanding as well. Thiago Motta turned back the clock, Marco Verratti was solid following a poor showing with his national team, and Adrien Rabiot put in a man of the match performance. As the young Frenchman continues to elevate his game, could he be the key to winning the Champions League this season? While there's very few things to complain about, there is a slight concern at the back especially with Layvin Kurzawa. The talented left-back is dynamic going forward but he left too many channels for Celtic to run into and put crosses into Alphonse Areola's box. Against better teams this could be an issue and many speculate whether his attacking ability is needed in a squad that features the offensive talent of PSG. Now is not the time to be too negative though. Five goals on the road in the Champions League is quite the accomplishment and will go a long way in helping them top FC Bayern Munich in the group. PSG Small Talk: Neymar's Memorable Home Debut and Matuidi's Farewell

Last Sunday, Neymar Jr. made his home debut against Toulouse FC and he didn't disappoint in the 6-2 win. The Brazilian was instrumental in five of Paris Saint-Germain's goals, including scoring two himself, and he now averages a goal or an assist every 30 minutes of league action this season. Marc Damon (@MarcDamon1) was in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday for SummerSlam but caught a replay of the match and is ready to break down all the action. On the latest episode of PSG Small Talk, Marc discusses PSG's spectacular goals from the weekend and why it's time for Marco Verratti to grow up. He also talks at length about Unai Emery's defense, which allowed Toulouse to stay in the match for far too long. Should Presnel Kimpembe receive more playing time and despite his goal, is Layvin Kurzawa really the best option at left-back? Finally, we bid adieu to Blaise Matuidi who recently left the club for Juventus FC. The Frenchman will always be a legend at the club and should be remembered for all his contributions over the years.
