The Simandou project in Guinea is the largest greenfield integrated mine and infrastructure project in development in Africa. Unlike mining's traditional “pit to port” model, Simandou promises to touch every region of the country, bringing development to hitherto neglected communities and transforming Guinea into a key player in the global steel industry. Kicking off Voices of Africa in 2025, Aboubacar Koulibaly and Ismael Diakité reveal details of this monumental project dubbed the 'backbone of Guinea's economy' and progress towards production of first ore in November 2025. Produced by Africa Practice, in partnership with the African Minerals Development Centre and the Investing in African Mining Indaba.

« “Ruto must go“ (“Ruto doit partir“), clament les manifestants.

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Clayton Beerman to look back at a poor defeat at home to Brighton and ahead to Real Madrid in the Champions' League. In part one we ask were there too many changes? Not enough continuity or were players rested for Real? Kepa was excellent but other than that there was no leadership, no spine, no attack, no energy and fitness and no hope. Meanwhile Brighton were everything we are not – aggressive one touch football; going forward quickly with end product. With no sign of form turning around we ask can we still get relegated? In part two we discuss the crowd having enough of it all. With Chelsea finding themselves in a perfect storm of shit: players who should have been sold; players who want away; players who think they'll be sold; interim manager with no focus; new owners who have turned it upside down. The season can't finish soon enough. What will the long-term damage be given how much time Chelsea will need to re-build; the possibility of a FFP fire sale and revenue down with no Europe…In part three we preview the second leg of the Champions' League quarter-final against Real Madrid. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a frustrating draw against Everton at the Bridge. In part one we ask why did Potter shut up shop at 1-0? Was it Brightonesque or an attempt at game management? We look at the substitutions. Gallagher for Pulisic? Why not Mudryk? Cheek for Kovacic and Chalobah for Fofana - understandable but Chukwuemeka for Felix? In part two we look at the poor defending by Koulibaly and Kepa's errors for Everton's 2nd goal. The result was frustrating and felt like a defeat and it seems like when Chelsea don't win the negativity starts. However, Chelsea looked fluid for much of the match, although still profligate and the defence was immense bar the two errors for the goals. So, are we getting in a stew about nothing? It's been a good run for Everton going into the int'l break that was capped off by a tie at Chelsea that felt more like a win. The ATP is here (for episode 350!!) sans Alex to get into all the details of the 2-2 draw that showed S-word in abundance. James and Ryan get into the tactical battle of Potter vs. Dyche, Enzo/Kovacic vs. Onana/Gana, Reece James vs. McNeil/Godfrey (okay, that didn't go well), Simms vs. Koulibaly (that went better), and talk about alternatives at CF and CB going forward. The duo get into all sorts of interesting stats and a ton of listener comments, which very much helped James spend much of the episode trying to get Ryan to actually say the S-word so thank you…tune in to see how he fares.  LINKS: linktr.ee/usatoffeepod Intro: Steve Barkwill Production: James Boyman Outro: Kenboib Learn more about your ad choices.
