We discuss PSG's 1-1 draw against FC Bayern Munich, which was enough to see PSG through to back-to-back finals, 6-5 on aggregate. We talk tactics, standout performances, referee decisions, and look ahead to the final against Arsenal FC.
Arsenal's title race took another dramatic turn after Everton F.C. stunned Manchester City F.C. in one of the biggest results of the Premier League season — and The NN Pod reacts to the chaos, the psychology, and what it means heading into the final stretch. The panel opens with a full Whip Around the Grounds from Matchweek 35, including defeats for Chelsea F.C., Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and Liverpool F.C., the race for Europe, Spurs' win over Aston Villa F.C., and the growing tension at both ends of the table.VARse returns with a breakdown of the weekend's biggest officiating moments, including the Dean Henderson collision against A.F.C. Bournemouth, the delayed handball angle at Old Trafford, and the Michael Oliver controversy during Everton vs Manchester City. The panel debates “rules is rules”, forensic VAR analysis, and whether consistency in officiating is becoming impossible.Attention then turns to the title race after Everton's dramatic comeback against Manchester City. The hosts discuss the emotional swing of the evening, Rodri's absence, Manchester City's defensive vulnerability, Arsenal's mentality heading into the run-in, and why the Emirates atmosphere for the Champions League semi-final felt inevitable after the result at “Dick Hill”.The conversation then shifts to European football, with detailed reaction to Paris Saint-Germain F.C. vs FC Bayern Munich and what Arsenal could face in a potential Champions League final. There's discussion around Luis Enrique's tactical discipline, Ousmane Dembélé's threat, Manuel Neuer's decline, PSG's defensive structure, fixture congestion, and the growing gap between Premier League demands and the rest of Europe.Elsewhere, the pod reacts to Coventry City F.C. and Ipswich Town F.C. securing promotion to the Premier League, debates who should join them through the play-offs, reflects on Frank Lampard's managerial recovery, and discusses Jack Wilshere's season with Luton Town F.C..There's also discussion on Unai Emery's team selection decisions, the morality of weakened sides late in the season, and whether football's calendar is reaching breaking point.A huge week in football — and a huge week for Arsenal.
Alex and Martin Benes begin the episode by reacting to reports of a suspected hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship, joking about cruises as chaotic floating cities filled with illness, strange behavior, and underreported crimes tied to murky international laws. The discussion then shifts to European football, where Alex vents about internal tensions at Real Madrid and the hosts debate who to support in the UEFA Champions League, touching on clubs including Arsenal F.C., Atlético Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain F.C., FC Bayern Munich, and FC Barcelona. Near the end, they discuss prediction-market platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, comparing them to Rat Race and criticizing the way geopolitical crises are increasingly treated like gambling events. The episode closes with recommendations for Rat Race and Widows Bay, described as “Twin Peaks meets The Shining.”

When Bianca Rech shares a decision with FC Bayern's players, she knows instantly how it has landed.“You feel it,” says the Director of Bayern's women's programme. “You already know when you look at their faces. You're like ‘I think she doesn't like it', ‘yeah, she likes it' and ‘she needs a bit of proof'. It's like sometimes I see myself sitting on the other side.”The ‘other side', as Bianca tells Teamworks' Andrew Trimble and Leaders' John Portch, refers to her transition from a Germany international and Frauen-Bundesliga regular to a senior leader of the German champions, whom she represented on the pitch for four years.“It's so much harder now when you sit on that side now,” she adds, reflecting on how she used to feel as a player. “I see myself sitting on the other side, like, ‘oh, maybe I have to talk to them again'.”In this third and final episode of our special series with Teamworks, Bianca touched upon several of the major themes that emerged from our recent Special Report High Performance Unpacked: interconnected performance teams. She spoke of her role in helping to transform the Bayern culture on and off the pitch [37:00]; keeping the athlete at the centre of the performance jigsaw [14:30]; the importance of sports psychology [31:00]; and the thoughtful integration of technology [21:00].Listen and subscribe today on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher and Overcast, or your chosen podcast platform.Episode One: Simon Rice, the Philadelphia 76ersEpisode Two: Miranda Menaspà, the Australian Institute of Sport

It's a tale as old as time. Paris Saint-Germain outplays an opponent and creates plenty of scoring chances but falls asleep for a split second and ultimately settles for less than it deserves. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to break down the frustrating 1-1 draw against PSV Eindhoven at the Parc des Princes. We discuss the scoring woes and Luis Enrique's lineup decisions, and we look ahead to Sunday's important clash against Olympique de Marseille. We begin with the result against PSV. PSG recorded 26 total shots and an xG of 2.43 yet only managed a single goal from Achraf Hakimi in the second half to rescue a point. We question the decision to play Kang-In Lee as a false nine and whether a lack of skill or concentration is to blame for the lack of goals. One big moment in the match occurred in the second half when Marco Asensio appeared to be tackled from behind while going for a cross from Hakimi. Initially, the referee, Glenn Nyberg, awarded PSG the penalty. But, after VAR got involved, Nyberg changed his decision, and the match ended 1-1. We debate whether that was the right decision or if, once again, PSG was on the receiving end of a poor decision. With the draw, PSG is on the edge of the UEFA Champions League table and could not qualify for the knockout stage, with fixtures against Atletico Madrid and FC Bayern Munich on the horizon. We share our concerns for PSG at the moment and whether they can turn things around in the tournament. The show concludes with a preview of PSG's match on Sunday against Marseille. Will we see a PSG squad with a Champions League hangover, or will Luis Enrique have his team ready for what will be a hostile atmosphere? As always, thank you for listening. Three Ligue 1 matches and three convincing wins for Paris Saint-Germain, who sit atop the Ligue 1 table heading into the international break. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to break down the 3-1 win over LOSC Lille and we look ahead to the revamped UEFA Champions League.Up first, it's the win over Lille. We discuss what we liked from the match, including Bradley Barcola's performance. How many goals can the Frenchman score this season, and can PSG's attack continue its impressive goalscoring streak with 13 goals in three matches? We also discuss aspects of the win that were not so great for PSG, including a defense that struggled at times against Lille. We also question some of Luis Enrique's early substitutions that seemed to play into Lille's strategy. After talking about Ligue 1, we switch gears to the Champions League, where PSG will host Girona FC, PSV Eindhoven, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester City at the Parc des Princes and travel to play Arsenal FC, FC Bayern Munich, Salzburg FC, and Stuttgart. It's statistically the most difficult draw and PSG will need to remain healthy to secure a place in the knockout round. We name the fixtures we're most looking forward to and predict how many points PSG will likely secure. As always, thank you for listening. The players are away on international duty, so that gives us plenty of time to overanalyze the latest Paris Saint-Germain news making headlines. On this episode of PSG Talking, I break down the latest news, including a significant injury to one of PSG's best-attacking players, comments from Kylian Mbappé about his future, and a transfer boost to one of the best young center-backs in Europe.Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports also joins the show to discuss his thoughts on PSG's quarter-final tie against FC Barcelona in the Champions League and some of the latest transfer news.I start with the unfortunate injury news of Bradley Barcola, who went down with a hamstring injury while representing France U23 in a friendly against the Ivory Coast. It's estimated the young Frenchman could be sidelined for 10 days and could potentially miss the clash against Barcelona. I discuss who could replace him in the starting lineup over the next couple of weeks.Next, I discuss Mbappé's comments about his future, where he essentially said there is no news and nothing to announce. With his ongoing tug-of-war with Real Madrid regarding his desire to play in the Olympics in Paris this summer and the club's stance that they will not release him, could this open the door for PSG to try and convince him to stay?Leny Yoro is one of the most highly sought-after talents in Europe, but with Real Madrid continuing negotiations with Mbappé and FC Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, PSG may be in the lead to sign the Lille OSC defender. I talk about PSG's need for a defender like Yoro and why he needs to be the first signing of the summer.I wrap up my portion of the podcast with a preview of PSG's upcoming fixture against Olympique de Marseille. I discuss the importance of a solid performance in front of a hostile crowd and how that will benefit PSG as they prepare to travel to the Camp Nou later this season with a chance to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League on the line. The show concludes with Jonathan Johnson sharing his thoughts on potential PSG transfer targets, Luis Díaz and Johan Bakayoko. He also gives his opinion if would be a mistake to allow Gonçalo Ramos to leave the club and if Achraf Hakimi may also leave to Real Madrid. He also gives his thoughts on the tie against Barcelona and if Ousmane Dembélé will play with a chip on his shoulder against his former club.As...
New year, and apparently, a renewed Paris Saint-Germain, who haven't lost since the calendar turned to 2024, chalked up another victory at RC Lens on Sunday to increase their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Marc Damon to discuss PSG's 2-0 victory over Lens, the latest reports regarding Kylian Mbappé's future, the January transfer window, and we answer a few questions from listeners.Up first, we discuss what we liked, didn't like, and what stood out in PSG's win over Lens. From Bradley Barcola's goal and overall performance to Luis Enrique's lineup decisions to Gianluigi Donnarumma's penalty save, we cover it all. After the recap, we jump into a bit of drama involving Mbappé. A recent report indicated that the Frenchman has already made the decision to join Real Madrid in the summer despite Mbappé stating no decision has been made. We share our thoughts on this situation as well as the other report about Jordan Brand breaking up with PSG.Next, we discuss the January transfer window, where no major signings seem likely for PSG, but Nordi Mukiele could be on his way to FC Bayern Munich. Is this a good decision for PSG, or do they need to find a defensive replacement before the end of the month? We wrap up the show by answering listener questions about Carlos Soler and Fabián Ruiz, Danilo Pereira, and more.As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts. Paris Saint-Germain are two matches into their preseason schedule ahead of the 2023-24 season, but performances on the pitch have taken a backseat to the ongoing Kylian Mbappé saga.On this episode of PSG Talking, we recap the scoreless draw against Al-Nassr in Japan before turning our attention to the latest on Mbappé and transfer rumors.Up first, I go on my opening rant about Mbappé. As things stand, PSG believes Mbappé has already agreed to join Real Madrid next summer on a free transfer. So the club is now entertaining offers for the Frenchman, and they reportedly have a massive one on the table. Al-Hilal has reportedly submitted a bid of €300 million for Mbappé along with wages in the €700 million range. Both would smash current records. The atmosphere between Mbappé and PSG is contentious, to say the least, but ultimately, it's up to Mbappé whether he stays in the French capital or leaves. If he stays, Mbappé will likely be benched for the season or play very little. If he leaves, for either Al-Hilal, Real Madrid, or another club, PSG would benefit by way of a transfer fee and getting rid of a massive distraction in the dressing room. We'll see how this one plays out.The show continues with an interview with PSG Hub. We begin with a discussion about PSG's preseason match against Al-Nassr. PSG Hub shares how he saw the match and which players stood out, including Cher Ndour, Achraf Hakimi, and Noha Lemina. We then turn our attention back to Mbappé, and PSG Hub shares his thoughts on the latest developments regarding the Parisian superstar. I asked him about the legalities of benching Mbappé for a season and whether PSG could recall Xavi Simons from loan at RB Leipzig should Mbappé leave.PSG Hub also shares the latest on Harry Kane. At times, this transfer felt like it wouldn't happen with FC Bayern Munich leading the way for his signature, but reports continue to leak out highlighting PSG's interest. Given PSG's relationship with Tottenham Hotspur, a transfer can't be ruled out, and Kane would only be the fourth Englishman to suit up for PSG.We conclude the show with PSG Hub sharing his favorite signing of the summer and outlining other transfers the club needs to secure before the window closes. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts. As the calendar flips to July, Paris Saint-Germain has yet to hire a new manager or announce a major signing. With so much work to be done, should supporters start to worry? On this episode of PSG Talking, Ed is joined by Drew from Dallas and Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's overall transfer strategy, the latest on Kylian Mbappé, and what PSG's starting lineup could look like next season.Up first, Ed shares his thoughts on PSG's transfer business so far, which includes signing the injured Lucas Hernández from FC Bayern Munich for €45 million. Should PSG instead target players like Harry Kane, who are hungry for trophies, aren't often injured, and can provide goals from day one? The monologue concludes with Ed sharing why PSG fans should keep an eye on the Xavi Simons situation.Next, Ed welcomes Drew from Dallas to the show to discuss the transfer window in depth. Drew first shares how he became a PSG supporter before diving into the rumored signings of Hernández, Marco Asensio, Milan Škriniar, Manuel Ugarte, and others. Luis Enrique is likely to be PSG's next manager, and Drew shares his thoughts on whether he was the best option for the club.Following Drew is Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to break down what PSG's starting lineup could look like next season. Paris Saint-Germain's season ended with a Ligue 1 title celebration, but for supporters, the pyrotechnics couldn't be put out fast enough as many look forward to a much-needed summer rebuild under new leadership. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss one of the oddest trophy celebrations in recent memory, which included a 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot 63. We also highlight Luis Campos' transfer strategy and react to the latest news about where Lionel Messi will play next and who might take over as head coach. We begin by highlighting PSG's last match of the season. Before kickoff, it was announced that Sergio Ramos wouldn't be returning to the club, and outgoing manager Christophe Galtier was the first to announce that the match would be Messi's last in a PSG shirt. Following the loss to Clermont, PSG hoisted the trophy, but not before the Ultras booed Messi and Neymar Jr.Next, we react to the news that Julian Nagelsmann is the frontrunner for the PSG job, with Galtier reportedly being let go. Not only is the former FC Bayern Munich man interested in the PSG job, but he could also bring Thierry Henry as an assistant. How will the French football legend impact PSG's transfer plans? The show continues with a discussion about Marco Asensio and Manuel Ugarte, who have reportedly signed with PSG. We rate both transfers and comment on Chelsea FC's continued shenanigans regarding transfers involving Les Parisiens. We also discuss the potential arrival of Xavi Simons, Marcus Thuram, Bernardo Silva, and others.During the podcast, news broke that Messi is reportedly considering going to FC Barcelona or Inter Miami of Major League Soccer. We react to the details of the story, including Messi taking a percentage of Apple's broadcast deal with MLS.On the second half of the show, we answer questions sent in via Twitter and Discord. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts. Well who saw that coming? We were hoping for it, but didn't expect Bayern Munich to deliver in this manner. When it comes to the league, Borussia Dortmund bottled it at the last minute versus Mainz, basically handing us the title — BUT Bayern still had to get the job done versus Koln and they did. It was a touch and go thing, but thank god (and maybe Brazzo) for Jamal Musiala. Anyway ... In this episode, INNN and Fergus talk about the following: Bayern Munich were completely unconvincing versus Koln and that's unacceptable. Talking about the ruthless sacking of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic by Bayern. Could Bayern have an FC Barcelona moment someday? The pros and cons of bringing back Rummenigge and Hoeness. Is it a mistake to not bring in a new sporting director for the summer? Wait, why was Oliver Kahn FORBIDDEN from attending the Koln game? What is going at this club? How is history going to remember Oliver Kahn and Brazzo? A quick aside — would Matthias Sammer come back as sporting director? The deep concern about the names rumored as potential future sporting directors. Dark clouds hovering over the long term future of FC Bayern Munich. Will the sacking of Brazzo spark concerns in players like Kimmich, Musiala, and Alphonso Davies? The 2022-23 season is in its final stage, and Paris Saint-Germain has one hand on the Ligue 1 title, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of drama to discuss involving the capital club.On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the 3-1 win over RC Lens at the Parc des Princes. We also touch on the Christophe Galtier allegations, and debate the latest transfer rumors.Up first, we recap the win over Lens. The match was hotly contested initially, with Lens giving PSG all they could handle, then in the 19th minute, Lens midfielder Salis Abdul Samed received a straight red after a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi. Down to 10 men, the sting was taken out of the Lens attack, and PSG scored three goals in 9 minutes before halftime. We debate what we liked about the match, what we didn't, and share our overall thoughts on the victory.Next, we discuss PSG's manager, Christophe Galtier, who is embroiled in controversy dating back to his time at OGC Nice in 2021. The alleged contents of a leaked email indicate that Galtier made racist and insensitive remarks during a meeting in 2021. While we don't know if the contents of the email are accurate and Galtier has not only denied the allegations but taken legal action, we discuss how PSG should handle the situation and whether sacking Galtier is more difficult now.We wrap up the show by discussing transfer targets and whether PSG should go all in for superstar Victor Osimhen, or sign several players instead to fill in the holes in the squad. We also share what we'll be looking for during PSG's final seven matches and we highlight former manager, Thomas Tuchel, who is having a rough go of it at FC Bayern Munich. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts.
