One of the North East's best-kept comedy secrets, Lee Kyle is a dimpled diamond with a twinkly warmth and bucket-loads of swearing. We talk about focusing on multiple projects and thriving in chaos - plus the downsides of ADHD, and how he wrestles with self-doubt and demotivation. We also discover the origins of NE comedy co-operative incubator “Felt Nowt”, and why the first minute of Lee's set is purposefully a write-off.20 mins of extras available exclusively to the Insiders Club, Stu asks the most inappropriate question he's ever asked, and we discuss the content of Lee's excellent special “Disco Twix” as he wrestles with gender identity with his unique gentleness. We also discover why 2002 was a great time to be a mediocre comedian, how his mentality has changed regarding sending emails to promoters, and he also sings Stu a song while Stu goes for a wee, which is the mark of a classy guest.Catch up with Lee:Lee Kyle's new show “England's Best Comedian” is on sale now for his run at the Edinburgh Fringe: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/lee-kyle-england-s-best-comedianwww.imleekyle.comTW: @imleekylewww.youtube.com/user/leekylespresenceEverything Stu's up to:Stu's new Edfringe show “Spoilers” (WINNER Best Show 2023, Leicester Comedy Festival, woo!) is on sale now - find preview dates as well as podcast community links, social media handles and comedy clips, and Stu's official YouTube channel, all at linktr.ee/stuartgoldsmithOr join the mailing list for unspecified freebies at:www.comedianscomedian.comwww.stuartgoldsmith.comStu offers remote and in-person talks to business, distilling insights from over 400 comics on cultivating resilience and the ability to bounce back, to all levels from C-suite to team members.“There's perfect and there's perfect; and that was perfect.” David Cooper, Chief People Officer Circle Health Group Hosted on Acast. Let's be honest folks: The words 'best' and '2020' are unlikely to appear in many sentences together. What a weird 12 months it's been. But hope springs eternal, and we're hoping for better things in the new year. Meanwhile, there were some bright points in 2020 for us at Worst Foot Forward, including our first live show, our first live stream and Ben's second baby! Along the way we were haunted by the ghost of Francis Bacon's frozen chicken, went on a round-the-world cruise with the Flat Earth Society, binge-watched Nollywood movies and adopted two geese called Norbert and Beep-Beep. Thanks to you all for listening, thanks to our many guests, and especially thanks to those who appear on this bumper compilation episode: Joseph Cullen, Terry Victor, Vicki Pipe, David Atherton, Bethany Black, Dr. Lucy Rogers, Jack Blackburn, James Shakeshaft, Delea Shand, Ola The Comedian, Ashraf Ejjbair, Lucy Jane Atkinson, Dom Nicholls, Seb Falk, Eleanor Morton, Mufseen Miah, Katy Schutte, Steve Cross, Nick Pettigrew, Juliet Meyers, Lee Kyle, Susan E. Connolly, Dr. Anna Ploszajski, Roann McCloskey and Joel Morris. Here's to 2021! Oh, and 2020? Go fuck yourself! Well, look who it isn't! It isn't Marlene Dietrich. Well, look who it is! It is thrifty old Lee Kyle and potential pickpocket Sammy Dobson with the first episode of Which is the Best Podcast for aaages. It's a bit different in that it's pretty short as it's a pilot we recorded last week, you know, for a thing. My word, the sound quality is as immaculate as a questionable conception. So, as ever, we decide which is the best between things of the same or similar name, this time: Pylon: Death causing kite trap or Pile on: A less sexy version of those shots they used to sometimes have in Razzle.
It's part 2 of the live panel show version of Which is the Best, recorded last Sunday at the Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle. Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson are the hosts of the show which also features Neil Harris, Joby Mageean and Hal Branson and is (I reckon) funnier than the first half. There is a seance where a professor comes and Sammy does a very funny sensual story and also other stuff happens.
Recorded last night at The Stand in Newcastle, this is the first half of the new panel show version of Which is the Best, the decisions based podcast, where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson compete with each other in a hardly-edited-at-all extravaganza. They are joined by team mates Hal Branson and tiny little Joby Mageean under the watchful eye of sertraline crazed dweeb Neil Harris. Full disclosure, it's a mixed bag and the second half (Out next week) is better.
It's now been a month since the last episode of Which is the Best podcast but don't sweat it big lad, here we are with EPISODE 150! It's the podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson (Totally okay comedians) meet and discuss things with the same or similar names. This time, we talk about TV shows and films Sammy has been in (The Bill vs The Bill and others)and none that Lee has been in cos he hasn't due to comedy being wrong. Come and see us live if you want, we are doing a panel show version of this at the Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle on 5th January.
The Greatest Film You've Never Seen is a podcast where comedians Si Beckwith and Ken McGuinness chat to guests about the best, most interesting and most revered films that have passed them by.Using IMDBs 'Top 250' as a jumping off point, they ask the fascinating folk they've invited along which of these unmissable films they've missed. This episode they're joined by comedian Lee Kyle for the most chaotic but brilliantly fun episode yet. Lee's version of The Matrix needs to be heard to be believed. Then heard again.Lee is also an excellent podcaster and co-host of Which Is The Best? with Sammy Dobson. Both of whom are also part of The Stand Panto (along with former guest of this very podcast Hal Branson) running from 7th to 30th December at The Stand Newcastle. You can find more info and tickets here. The Greatest Film You've Never Seen is a Hope For Proles production. Music comes from Static Blue. Follow Hope For Proles in all the usual places. Nice ears you've got there, be a shame if something happened to them... Sorry for being threatening but here is the deal, if you don't listen to episode 148 I'm going to take your ears and sell them for scrap, don't say you weren't warned. Bit kooky that intro wan't it? Up yours, I'm trying something new. What's this then? It's the overly honest podcast where Sammy Dobson (aging character actress) and Lee Kyle (above the law) decide Which Is The Best between things of the same or similar names. This week: Ease - Like Sunday morning if you don't go to church and get told off or Es - Are good, Es are good, naughty naughty very naughty. We've got 2 live shows coming up, only as a panel show with guests and that, at Chilli Fest at the Chillingham in Newcastle on 10th November then at the Stand in Newcastle on 5th January.
Releasing this on a Friday afternoon as you head into the weekend because episode 146 of Which is the Best podcast is not safe for work. All Sammy's fault, obviously. Dirty cow. Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson are middle notch comedians from the Northeast of England who meet and decide which is the best between things of the same or similar names forever. This week: Chippy - A shop that sells chips and fish and food poisoning, delicious food poisoning or Chippy - Makes a shelf quick smart. We are doing a panel show version of this at The Stand in Newcastle on January 5th if you want to come: https://www.thestand.co.uk/performances/929-9386-which-is-the-best-the-panel-show-with-lee-kyle-and-sammy-dobson-20200105-newcastle/?fbclid=IwAR3l7r1BYgHXjtMz7SBb__a2T8Dwg1cvR77TMEXYBHCHpHNlZa4bEKQTUQE
Sorry don't have much time to tell you what is on episode 145 of Which is the Best podcast because we (Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson) are on a writing retreat where there is a hot tub so, frankly, you can like it or lump it mate. This week, which song is the best? Conga by Gloria Estefan or Conga by Black Lace
Jonny Pelham is an award winning comedian, probably best known as one third of the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe show 'Pretty on the Inside' with Si Buglass and the much better headline act of that show Lee Kyle. Hi, I'm Lee, I'm doing a podcast every day of the fringe where I play a professor with a life that is going wrong and asks questions of a comedian to see if they can go to Oxbridge University. Today's guest is Jonny Pelham from Pretty on the Inside. Like this for some reason? Subscribe to 'which is the best' wherever you get podcasts unless it's not on that one.
Every day I'm hustling. Swear to God, every day. By hustling I mean 'doing a podcast' by 'Every day' I mean til the end of the Edinburgh Fringe and by 'I' I mean Lee Kyle, who I am. This is the Oxbridge Entrance Exam, where I ask comedians an open ended question from a stupid book I found. Today, we have Louise Young (Looks cool, is an idiot) and she's the first person to do this who has actually heard it before. She's weirdly (wrongly) excited... For more of these, subscribe to 'Which is the best' wherever you get your podcasts, unless it's Spotify cos I got bored filling the form in.
Sammy Dobson, the second best one on Which is the Best Podcast (The podcast where Sammy and main host Lee Kyle decide between things of the same or similar name), has spent almost every hour of this year decorating a house that she almost certainly regrets buying. This white elephant has severely cut down on podcasting time. So, taking matters into his own hands, Lee decided to turn up at her door with his MP3 recorder and just gatecrash the bastard. So, will she welcome him in or is she in one of her bad moods? Lets see, listen and find out whether they indeed decide if it is better to be important or impotent.
Iain Lee's live on talkRADIO between 10pm-1am Monday to Fridays but, if for some inexplicable reason you miss the show, you can get the best bits every day right here.Or, to be absolutely certain you don't miss out, subscribe to the podcast on iTunes. Well good day. This is my new podcast. I found a book in the lovely Curlew's bookshop in Barnard Castle, County Durham last week. It contained questions that they may ask you should you wish to go to Oxford or Cambridge. It seems like it might be a sensible book. It isn't. The questions are mostly ridiculous in a 'Try and stress out a 17 year old just doing their best to get into Uni' way. So, I thought I'd use my great acting to inhabit the character of Dr Mr Lee Kyle, Emeritus Professor of Hard Maths at Oxbridge University (He's married to Marjorie, the marraige is on the rocks, he drinks too much cognac), to interview a guest to see if they will be granted access to those hallowed halls. This week: AN AMERICAN! I know right. Let us see if Bostonian comedian and writer Julie Grady-Thomas can transfer her degree in communications or some such shit to an actual proper qualification in a proper British University.
For the first time in ages, it's the podcast that real life has got in the way of, it's episode 139 of your 11th favourite podcast, Which Is The Best? Except, it only sort of is. Sammy Dobson is snowed under with various things, so it's just Lee Kyle answering some listener questions. We'll be back properly as soon as we can...

Which is the Best podcast present: MIMFEST 3! Every year, your esteemed hosts (Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson) visit am imaginary music festival and compare the bands that are on with things that sound like them. Look, I'm aware that that sounds nonsensical but it still happens. This year, they brave the terrible toilets and jester hat wearing cider pricks and decide between: Meatloaf and meatloaf (Semi edible American staple) Kylie and Kyle Lee (Lee, backwards) Kinks and kinks (Dirty sex niches) Slade and Slade (Fictional prison) Genesis and Genesis (Let there be some light) Garbage and garbage (Rubbish but in America) Spice Girls or Space Ghetto (Said in an American accent so it sounds like Spice Girls in Scottish) Talking Heads and Talking Heads (Retrospectively creepy monologues) 5ive and 5 (It's a number) Madonna and Madonna (Suspicious virgin birth claimant) Prince or prince (The son of a a king and his 2nd couisn) 136 episodes of this bollocks now.
Welcome to episode 135 of Which is the Best, the only podcast on the market that is guaranteed 100% paedophile free. Every week, from then until it stops happening, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet and decide which is the best between things of the same or similar names. It's a thankless task that they don't enjoy but who else is going to do it? You? Fucking doubt it mate. This week: Ouvre: A Frennch word meaning whatever it is it means and Hoover: A hoover. You know what a hoover is for fucks sake. I'm tired.
Which is the Best are proud to announce their latest baby, which they have called Episode 127. Well, not proud, but certainly not ashamed. What is it? It's a podcast about deciding between things of the same or similar names. Aww! How cute! What does it weigh? 8 pounds and 3 ounces and it has been sick down itself. This week, one of the hosts (Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson) tries to introduce a new character to spice things up, a cowboy called Clive. The other host isn't at all into it, which is a shame as Clive has a lot going for him. And they decide between: Cords (Trousers for people who want them) Chords (Something to do with music) and Cords (Don't pull it!) Can you leave us 5 stars on wherever you review this stuff please? You don't have to mean it.
Normally, this podcast is for deciding Which Is The Best between things of the same or similar names. But, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson have just been to Berlin (Not together, they aren't that close) and just talk about that instead. Featuring loads of cocks and Hitler. Oh, and Lee has a surprisingly strong opinion about Cheryl Cole.
We are so sure that you'll want to listen to Episode 122 of Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson's Which is the Best podcast where they decide whether Kit Kats (2 fingers, 4 fingers, chunky) is than the Kit Kat (German sex grotto where Sammy goes "For the fruit platters") that the rest of this blurb will just be the lyrics to 'Something Kinda Ooooh!' by Girls Aloud. I've got to heat it up Doctor, got to heat it up I've got till 3 o'clock I've got to rock until you drop Till you drop, something, ahh Something kinda, ooooh Jumping on my toot, toot Something 'side of me Wants some part of you, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Makes my heart go boom, boom Something 'side of me Wanting what you do, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Jumping on my toot, toot Something 'side of me, Wants some part of you, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Bumping in the back room Something 'side of me Wanting what you do, ooooh Ooh, when tomorrow comes Baby, I won't even known your name Baby, so good want to follow on by But I'll never meet you, never see you again If you wanna [unverified] line on me, now no Wait till the band gonna play real slow If you want your hands on me I'm digging you up Can't dance, no pain, no gain, no show Jump to the beat all night don't roll If you wanna handle me You got to keep up Something kinda, ooooh Jumping on my toot, toot Something 'side of me Wants some part of you, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Makes my heart go boom, boom Something 'side of me Wanting what you do, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Jumping on my toot, toot Something 'side of me Wants some part of you, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Bumping in the back room Something 'side of me Wanting what you do, ooooh I've got to heat it up Doctor, got to heat it up I've got till 3 o'clock I've got to rock until you drop I've got to heat it up Doctor, got to heat it up I've got till 3 o'clock I've got to rock until you drop Oh boy, I can't tell you how sad I feel And tonight, is just another kink in your steel (Oh, yeah) Shoulda known where the man was at Shoulda known he was coming to make me I shoulda recognized the plan of attack When he turned and he called me, baby Shoulda known where the man was at Shoulda known he was coming to make me Shoulda come with a party rap So I know where the night would take me Take me, something (Take me) Something kinda, ooooh Jumping on my toot, toot Something 'side of me Wants some part of you, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Makes my heart go boom, boom Something 'side of me Wanting what you do, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Jumping on my toot, toot Something 'side of me Wants some part of you, ooooh Something kinda, ooooh Makes my heart go boom, boom Something 'side of me Wanting what you do, ooooh

Episode 121 of Which is the Best Podcast* is a 'Disorders that either we have or somebody we live with has.' special. Yep. It is that. Because we don't plan ahead. So, this week: Vertigo: Being dizzy cos of equilibrium I think vs Vertigo: I'm up high, I might jump and Artistic: Good at drawing vs Autistic: Good at science. *A podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide between things with the same or similar names.
Have you ever tried writing an original blurb for a podcast when it has had 119 previous episodes? Let's see... we've done it in French, with loads of swearing and without vowells. We've even tried just saying what it is. Erm... how about sexy? Ooooh hello big boy! What a lovely cock you have! Fancy listening to Episode 120 of Which is the Best podcast? With your tits? Mmmmmmm... Slide into bed with Sammy Dobson off Doctors while Lee Kyle nips off for a wee (Some people like that). This week they sexilly decide between Opera (Horny) and Oprah (Sensual). I've arrived.
Has it come to this? The worst episode yet. On Sunday, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson recorded the 119th episode of Which is the Best podcast. It was a live episode because they were booked on a gig together and there were 4 kids in the audience and about 100 adults. Now, you can do gigs to kids, or you can do kids shows to familes but you know what is difficult? Doing a gig to mostly adults while making it okay for kids. So, instead of doing their sets they combined to do a podcast, forgetting that this show is easily the rudest thing either of them do. It might actually be okay, we haven't edited it because neither of us can face listening to it. It won't be though. Rest assured, this episode wouldn't be going out if we'd had time to record another. Poo vs Pooh if it matters.
It's episode 118 but unlike directory enquiries we won't be charging you for a service that once was free. Welcome to Which is the Best? a podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide between things with the same or similar names while disintegrating and improving mentally on a loop. This week: Facts: Little bits of truth or Fax: Semi obselete paper telephone Also, we swear. Also also, we settle scores with enemies who have probably either forgotten we exist or are dead.
Bonjour mais petit listeneurs. Wlcome tout les podcast 'Which is the Best' episeude numbere 109 dans Lee Kyle et Sammy Dobson decidee betweaux objets avec le nom simileur ou le same. Mercredi! Career: Une job that vous have pour ages. ou Korea: Nord et le Sud, Vive la difference! Merci
Welcome to episode 108 of your 19th favourite podcast where star of adverts Sammy Dobson and desperate self publicist Lee Kyle decide WHICH IS THE BEST between things of the same or similar names. This weekthey decide between: Gangnam Style: The predecessor to the worldwide smash hit Gentleman and Gangland Style: An execution And other things.
Do you like decisions? Well, here is one in podcast form. It's episode 107 of Which is the Best, a podcast where comedians Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide between things of the same or similar names/come across as oddballs/slander celebrities. This week: Is felt better than felt? Apologies in advance to a regular listener who probably doesn't and probably isn't...
Welcome to Which is the Best podcast, episode 106. Featuring a horrific anecdote about a man Lee used to know called Skin, who used to sell cheap tabs. Each week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet and decide WITB between things with the same or similar names, listen today and discover your new 19th favourite podcast. This week: Are Coaches (Busses that you are on for ages) better than Coaches (People who make you do sport better)? It's 500% jollier than last week. Thanks for all the messages. Lee x
Each week, comedians Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet and decide Which Is The Best bewteen things of the same or similar names. Every now and again, there is an episode where Sammy (Off TV's Doctors) goes all mad and manic. It is Lee's opinion that the thing she says about a dream chicken wizard in this episode is the oddest thing she's ever said. ALSO: WITB? Barbie (Put another shrimp on the) or Barbie (Unrealistically bodied plastic socialite)
We'd like to apologise for this, Episode 102 of Which is the best podcast. The hosts were disgraceful. Sammy Dobson was drunk and Lee Kyle had had one hours sleep then done a pantomime twice. They say some horrific things in this, they really do. Probably only listen if you already like them enough to forgive. This week: Are BOYS (Tiny men) better than BUOYS (Sea balloons) Actually, it's probably not that bad. I don't know, it's just words isn't it? Come see Lee on tour if you want to, Sammy is doing support for most of it. Dates on imleekyle.com
If you don't listen to this I'm going to blow up the moon. No pressure. Oh, you want the tides to go mental or whatever it is that would happen do you? Well, that's on you now mate. For those of us with a social conscience, this is Episode 98 of Which is the Best, a podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobsonoffbykergrove decide between things with the same or similar names. This week Trailers or Trailers. Is an Alabaman house better than a film enticement? By the way, Sammy was in a trailer once, cos she did a film about dogging. Lee did the intro and outro by himself by the way, Sammy won't enjoy the content of the outro but, actually, the falsetto was angelic. "How would you blow the moon up anyway Lee?" You might well wonder "That doesn't sound like a credible threat mate." With my cock. I'd blow up the moon with my cock. I'm tired.
Hi, Lee Kyle from Which is the Best podcast is typing this, apologising for at least one of the voices I did during it. I had a lovely time recording it though, it's Episode 97 and cohost Sammy Dobson was in it too as was her twin or something. Not sure really, it all went a bit unusual. I think it might have been one of my favourite ever ones though. Or one of the worst ones, it's hard to say sometimes. Anyway, we definitely decided if meet was better than meat so the remit was very much fulfilled and that's what matters.
It's episode 95 of Which is the Best podcast and it's a look back at the first 30 episodes, if you've not tried it, now is the time to take a dip in the shallow waters of our back catalogue. If you have listened before and liked it, please get a friend to try it. Highlights include: The time Lee sailed a 'boat' around the 'Statue of Liberty' Sammy's Lego fantasy is fulfilled Best number: 4 or 7? Sammy went to Beamish... We rang the woman from the AA, she seemed nice, we felt bad. The fantasy job Lee has had since 1996. An actual terrifying ghost. Thanks for listening! Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobsonoutofbykergrove
Recorded live in front of a studio (Comedy club) audience like Cheers or The Golden Girls, episode 94 of Which is the Best Podcast (The podcast which decides between things with similar names) is momentous mate. Bloody momentous. Not content with decideing whether Flash is better than Flash, the hosts (Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson) finally find out if they are half siblings. Then, even more importantly, Lee defends the honour of what may or may not be his new sister by racing her boyfriend in a running race. Can he back up his claims of being surprisingly fast (He actually claims to be the fastest man on Earth but this is unverified) for a fat bloke? Sorry about the amount of brackets in this blurb by the way (This can't help).
Episode 91 of Which is the Best podcast might be the most niche episode we've done. What it is is this: Sammy Dobson is one of the two hosts of it (Lee Kyle is the other) and on Thursday she was in the BBC soap opera Doctors playing a woman who is inexplicably angry at a deaf woman for using sign language. So, to celebrate, Lee and Sammy have recorded a commentary that can be listened to at the same time as the episode should you choose to watch it along on iPlayer. It's probably an episode that you can still enjoy without accompanying viewing. Is it? Maybe, not sure. As a sop to our remit, we do start with one of our patented decisions, as we decide Which Is The Best between: Hugh - Men called Hugh or Hue - Colour That bit is pretty rushed though. Come see us live if you want. We at The Stand in Newcastle at 4pm on 15th October.
I tell you what Donald Trump hates, he HATES Which is the Best podcast. He bloody hates it. He'd be furious if you listened to it. There, that should do it. This week (Episode 89) Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide WHICH IS THE BEST between the following similarly named things: Courtly love: A highly conventionalized medieval tradition of love between a knight and a married noblewoman. and Courtney Love: Not definitely a murderer. Come see us live at The Stand in Newcastle on 15th October at 4pm if you like.
Do you struggle with decisions? Don't worry, we don't. Well, as long as those decisions are to be made between things with the same (Or similar) name! That's right, it's episode 88 of Which is the Best podcast and this week Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide between: Poppers: 90s trouser and Poppers: 'Room oderizer' Lee does an impression of the Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake that is definitely an impression and thus totally okay.
Welcome to episode 87 of Which Is The Best Podcast, an episode where either Lee Kyle or Sammy Dobson (The hosts of it) needlessly give out their PIN number. Yes, we do know that calling it a PIN number is technically incorrect but the language has moved on and left you behind I'm afraid dear pedant. This week they decide between: PARK - Slides, duck pond, dogging. and PARK - A still car. If you are in Newcastle (Upon Tyne, not Under Lyme, Australia or America) Feel free to buy tickets to the live show at The Stand comedy club in Newcastle on the afternoon of 15th October. It'll be fun. http://www.thestand.co.uk/show/29194/which_is_the_best_podcast_the_much_anticipated_93rd_episode_live
Which is the Best Podcast Episode 84 Gorilla vs Guerilla Each week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet and decide which is the best between things of the same or similar names. This week: Are gorillas (Massive chimps) better than guerillas (Having a war in a jungle)? This one was recorded about 2 hours before Lee's first show at this years Edinburgh Festival so is a bit manic, partly because a bird had just shat on his head. He's sleeping in a tent all month so expect this to continue... Because of time constraints, Sammy had to record the intro and outro herself and, predictably, she comes across as an oddball. She only made 2 glaring errors though, this is episode 84, not 83 and Lee's show is at 9.25 (Stand 4) not 9.35. She did well though, you know, considering.
Ostensibly, Which is the Best podcast is a show which decides between things of the same or similar names (This week: Chanel number 5 (Evocative smelly water) or Channel number 5 (Fuzzy TV channel)) but, in reality, what it really is, is a tragic document of the unravelling mental states of the hosts, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson. It's almost like a competition really, a competition where Sammy takes an impressive lead this week, her story about swimming in a river being a particular highlight. Near the end, there is a bit where she says something like "I always put something in my mouth before I put it in my body" and neither of them noticed how filthy this sounds. They are very sorry. 82 episodes of this, jump on now if you haven't already and, if you're around, see Lee's show at the Edinburgh Fringe at Stand 4 at 9.25pm.
The problem with putting an episode once a week is that sometimes one of you is too busy decorating to do one. So, this week, this episode is a day late rush job where Lee Kyle pops in on Sammy Dobson while she is painting and records a slap dash episode of WHICH IS THE BEST (A podcast where they decide between things of the same or similar name) while she does it. He doesn't help her paint. Probably don't make this your first episode eh? There's 78 others, this feels like it's for the regulars... This week: Subway or Subway. Plus Sammy offers to go accompany you to a social event for £100 if you can't get anyone better. She will do extras.
Which is the Best podcast is the podcast for people who struggle when being ask to choose. We choose mate, my word do we choose. Between things of the same or similar names that is! This week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide between: Ballet Dancing and Belly Dancing. PLUS! - Lee has been in trouble because people thought he was a much worse person than even he is! - A sad ending! - Sammy has been to watch The Jeremy Kyle Show be recorded, is he an even more detestable human than you'd imagined?
We are now three quarters of a century deep in terms of episode numbers of the podcast where Lee Kyle (5'10" tall with a 27" inside leg) and Sammy Dobson (Has played a prostitute on TV worryingly often) decide 'Which is the Best?' between things of the same or similar names. Sammy isn't bragging or anything but she has a boyfriend. But is he any good? Well, we drag him in to the studio to defend himself against accusations of probably being overly keen on craft beers and being rubbish that time they were on Pointless as ask: Which is the Best?: Graham Chapman (The dead one out of Monty Python) or Graeme Chapman (The man 'lucky' enough to share a bed with a 2 time star of TVs 'Doctors')
Which Is The Best Podcast (The podcast where we decide betweenthings with the same or similar names) is back once again with the renegade master with the ill behaviour, with the ill behavious, with the ill behaviour. Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson this week decide between: Segway: one person, horizontal escalator death trap and Segue: A bridge between two things. Delightfully, a small percentage of people will only just now have realised that it is pronounced like this. Happy to help. Also, we have an honest to God running race. One of us is shown to be hubristic.
We trundle nonchelantly into episode 72 of the podcast everyone is calling 'The Best Fucking Podcast Going' (tm) with a swagger in our step and some ill deserved insouciance. We tried for a new type of over arrogant intro in the opening paragraph there. Did you like it? We aren't sure. It's 8ft tall monolith Lee Kyle and rust enthusiast Sammy Dobson back once again with the ill behaviour and another episode of WHICH IS THE BEST? The podcast that decides between things of a similar name. This week, yet more about Sammy probably being mental as she reveals that she isn't totallysure she doesn't have eerie freaky powers as we decide between: FATE - Destiny, stuff happens that you can do nowt about and FETE - Tombolas and that.
Which is the Best Podcast - 66 COMEBACK SPECIAL! Each week (Except last week) Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is the best between things with similar names. For episode 66, they explore the sigificance of years ending 66 in English history and with absolutely no reverence to the past they discuss: 1066 - Battle of Hastings Conquerers (War starters) vs Conkerers (Boys hitting round wood with round wood) 1666 - Great Fire of London Pepys (Cheese burying diarist) vs Peeps (Crew) vs Peeps (The noise peep) vs Peeps (Some American sweet that looks like a chick or something) and 1966 - England win the World Cup Wembley (Stadium) vs Wombley (Having the properties of a Womble)
WHICH IS THE BEST PODCAST 63: TOM JONES OR TROMBONES Each week, comedians Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is the best between things of the same or similar names. Not sue why really, they've never thought about it. This week: Tom Jones (Gravelly Welsh knicker enthusiast) or Trombone (Slim oboe) Lee thinks that they don't really sound that alike, Sammy differs. Nevertheless, Sammy is punished for a long standing indescretion by post. ALSO, the occasional quickfire section returns with: Ant & Dec vs Anton DuBeke, Mike Oldfield vs My Cold Field and Jo Malone vs Home Alone. Also, check out this weeks recommended podcasts 'Sort Your Life Out with Rob Mulholland' and 'French's Perverted Parlour' for more top notch UK comedy podcasts.
"My wife is real, I've bought her a backwards duck." Hello there, ever wondered WHICH IS THE BEST? between Lent (Depressing Easter Advent) or Lent (Giving someone something for a limited period of time)? No? Well we've worked it out for you anyway. Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson have the sort of podcast where they do that. They decide between things with the same name. They have flyers now. Honest to God, flyers! If you are in Glasgow (Which isn't impossible) comeand see our live show at McPhabbs on Sunday 12th March at 6.30pm. Do you like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club? Lee doesn't really but he borrowed one of their CDs off someone years ago and can't remember who. If you want it, send us your address and he'll post it off. Or, if you're too late, he'll send you a different CD. Until he can't be bothered anymore. Why? Not sure really.
THIS WEEK: Which is the Best - Gerbils or Goebbels That's right! This week on WITB Podcast, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson threaten to go all alt-right as they decide which is best between gerbils (Horrific mice) and Goebbels (Really quite a bad man). You'd think it'd be an easy choice but Lee REALLY hates gerbils. You'd be amazed how little they know about Goebbels by the way. For example, they think he's called Herman. Incidentally, come and see Lee do his stand up show (With Sammy as the support act) 'Burning This Place To The Ground' at The Stand in Edinburgh on 28th Feb and at Prego in Brighouse on 1st March if you like.
Which is the Best Podcast: Episode 60 WASHINGTON (DC) vs WASHINGTON (Tyne and Wear) No offence but you aren't really qualified to decide between things, luckily, the comedians Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson both have BA Hons in knowing about stuff from Oxbridge University and are happy too decide for you. This week, they were over tired and Sammy was excited because she had been learning about denim. So, then, which is the best Washington? DC - The so called capital of America or Tyne and Wear - One of the top towns in all of Wearside We love you in a way.
Like a confused old lady, we've had another one of our episodes. Each week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet to decide which is the best between things of the same or similar names, because nobody has ever stopped them. Cracking episode this week, as we decide between: Ghostbusters: Surprisingly controversial film for children. FOR CHILDREN and Ghost bus tours: A tour, about ghosts, on a bus. It has given us a wonderful idea...
We've done it! A whole year of podcast, one a week for 52 weeks! To celebrate here's us doing an episode of Which is the Best? podcast. How like us. Lee Kyle is a man, Sammy Dobson is a woman, they make a podcast, it's sometimes funny, sometimes thoughtful but it's always here on a Monday. You can't put a price on that sort of regularity. They decide between things that have the same or similar names. That's just what they do. They're pretty damn unapologetic about it as it happens. After last weeks regrettable drunken episode, they're back with a regrettable sober one as they decide between: Plato: The thinking man's Socrates and Play Doh: The thinking man's plasticine. They know more about one of these things than the other. See you next year!
We could regret this... Usually, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet once a week and discuss things with the same or similar name, then they edit it into a roughly 50 minute long podcast. They do this sober. Yet, this week, due to it nearly being Christmas, they have had a selection of Christmas drinks and have left it unedited, because they can't face listening to it. Well, that's only partly true, they remembered giving out some information about the sexual habits of a semi famous comedian so they edited that out but they're pretty sure they left much worse in. They have tried to decide every one of the Christmas suggestions they got (Noel (Christmas), Noel (Edmonds, Gallagher etc) or Noe L (The removal of the letter L from the alphabet is one example)and they had some lovely cherry brandy. This one is definitely too long.
We've reached Episode 50, which must be pretty embarrassing for all the teachers who said we'd never amount to anything. For the past 50 weeks (and on into infinity) Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson have met to discuss which is the best between things of the same or similar names. It's a relatively pointless task but so is life really. This week, they over reach themselves be deciding between: Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, The Rock, The Rock and The Rock. What they have realised is that there are a lot meanings for the word Rock.
Episode 48 of the podcast that, somewhat pointlessly, decides Which Is The Best between things of the same or similar names hits the airwaves (iTunes and that) and finally gets onto the debate the entire world has been waiting for. Yes, this week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson (Between them, they have been in a Palme D'or winning film for about 18 seconds) choose between: Geoffrey Palmer: A sort of grumpy Richard Briers and Jeffrey Dahmer: A sort of grumpy Dennis Nilsen Have a download for some lovely 'As Time Goes By'/Head in fridge juxtaposition.
Episode 47 of Which is the Best podcast (The podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide between things of the same or similar names) is the first where a guest joins us for the whole episode! It's a cracker too, as Harriet Dyer goes off on some lovely tangents and fits the show like a bloomin' glove. She does an occasional podcast we love called Comic's Stopover that you should try if you haven't. This week we decide between: Sauce: stuff you put on chips or Sauce: "Ooooh Matron, you don't get many of those to the pound!"
Episode 34 of Which is the Best podcast is part 2 of the live Edinburgh Fringe episode and sees Lee and Sammy lose any sort of public decency and decorum. Every week, they (Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson) meet and decide between things of the same or similar names. This week: Badgers (snappy cull victims) or badges (pinpoint nutcase signal) Lovely picture too, it'sLee holding a badger near his toned abs,
Which is the Best is a podcast hosted by the comedians Sammy Dobson and Lee Kyle, in which they decide which is best between things of the same or similar names. They're at the Edinburgh fringe and have gone quite mad, quite early. Honestly, the thing Sammy says near the end of this one is insane, even by her standards. Her highly insane standards. This week: Fringe or fringe (Floppy hair front or Comedian psyche destroying long month in Edinburgh) and Coleslaw or cold sore (Usually disappointing side dish or perennially returning scab disease) If you are around Edinburgh on Wednesday 10th August come and see WITB live at Woodland Creatures at 8.40pm. If you want, come and see Lee and/or Sammy's actual shows, they're going well so far although Lee's Sunday one was a bit of a struggle.
Episode 31 of Which is the Best, the podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide between things of the same or similar names, is almost certainly one for the fans... It's not the usual episode, half of it is a nice chat, the other half is highlights of our first ever live show, recorded at 'The Great Yorkshire Fringe' in York. It's funny, we think, but it's probably not the episode to start with if you've never listened before,,, This week we decide between: York and Bjork and Baristas and barristers Hal Branson, who Sammy is doing a show at this years Edinburgh Fringe with, pops in briefly too with his posh voice. And the show ends with a surprise proposal. If you like what we do and can do either of the following, we'd be dead grateful: 1. Any recommendations to friends are great 2. A nice review on iTunes makes us cheerful 3. Come to see one or both of our fringe shows 4. Come to see WITB LIVE! at the Edinburgh Fringe at Woodland Creatures at 8.40pm on 10th August. See you next week!
We've hit 30 episodes of 'Which is the Best?' and to celebrate, Lee has provided a real life picture of what he looks like wrapped in a slip of cloth, holding a lightning bolt. Every week, he (Lee Kyle) meets up with his friend Sammy Dobson and they decide 'Which is the Best' out of things with the same or similar names. This week: Principles (Your brain making you be nice) or principals (School boss) and, in Lee's most difficult decision ever: Queen (Band Lee and Sammy strongly disagree on) or Queen (A woman who lives in a castle. A CASTLE) There is a part in this where a bird gets involved. Overly involved.
Recorded near quite a bad statue, Episode 29 of 'Which is the Best?' podcast is, unquestionably, an episode of podcast. What kind of podcast? It's the kind of podcast where TVs Sammy Dobson and podcastings Lee Kyle meet to decide which is the best out of things with the same or similar names. This week, Sammy forgets how to talk properly for quite a lot of it, then, out of nowhere, tells what is, for her, a remarkably clever joke. She then quickly forgets how to talk again. So, in this episode we decide between: Attire or a tyre: Is body shaped, shame hiding cloth better than cars shoes? AND Pop, pop or pop: Which is the best? Sparkly music, fizzy juice or, erm, that noise a weasel makes. Come see us at the Edinburgh Fringe if you want, details within...
After terrifying ourselves to death last week, this week we try and keep it light and frothy on Which is the Best? podcast (A podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is the best between things of the same or similar names. There's only one bit where Sammy reveals that she once accidentally disrespected a memorial service, so that's pretty good going I reckon. This weeks decisions are between: Wondering or wandering. Is having a good ponder (about where your life is going...) better than wandering (Getting lost). Feels like it could get deep this onedoesn't it? It doesn't. and Bananarama (Surly 80s hit machine) and Banana Armour(That container you sometimes see that you can keep bananas in) Yeah, it's not our best pun is it? Oh, by the way, we are doing live versions of this at the Great Yorkshire Fringe on 25th July in York (16.30 at the Tea Pot), and at the Edinburgh Fringe on 10th August (20.40 at Woodland Creatures). It's nice that we are performing at the Tea Pot and then at Woodland Creatures isn't it? Makes us seem like we are in a Beatrix Potter story....
Every week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet and decide things. This week, the 27th time, 'Which is the Best? Podcast' got scary. Look, this is just a normal episode really, until near the end when it turns into a live horror movie. Full disclosure: Neither of us are into ghosts, we don't really believe in them. But, for a few minutes at the end of this podcast we absolutely did and it was terrifying. Sammy is an actor, a good one too, but she's not THAT good. Lee isn't an actor at all, if he was just pretending to be scared, you'd be able to tell... The rest of the Episode is a light hearted affair, we decide whether Cricket (Long game) is better than crickets (Itchy legged mini beasts) and then, on a whim, whether Jimmy Cricket (Funny man (Very nice in real life too, showbiz fact fans) is better than Jiminy Cricket (Wooden boy advisor). That's all very much an entree to an eerie main course though.
WELCOMETO MIM FEST! That's right, this weeks 'Which is the Best?' is a music festival special, join Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson as they take an audio journey around the greatest music festival of all time and decide Which is the Best between things that have the same (or similar names)as legendary recording artists. Look at the line up! The Beatles! (Are they better than beetles) Cream! (Are these tedious old men better than cream? (Posh milk)) Nirvana! (Is sadness better than a state of bliss? Scooter! (They have the most German top tens of any German band ever (!) but are they better than a sort of flat bike?) REM! (Better than that bit of sleep where you do dreams? Warning - This section has a joke in it of which Lee is unjustifiably proud) Van Morrison! (Or a Morrison's van. Not a good enough pun is it?) The Strokes! (Or, you know, quite a sad thing t happen to an elderly relative...) Red Hot Chilli Peppers! (Or searing burning pain in your mouth?) Eminem! (Or M&Ms) Placebo! (Sugar-free Diet goths or pretendy medicine?) What a line up, what a world...
It's Episode 24 of 'Which is the Best?' the comedy podcast that decides which is the best between things with the same or similar names. This week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson sit in a recording studio(car) and choose between: Anne Hathaway (Film star) and Anne Hathaway (Shakespeare's lass) and PC (Unreliable computer), PC (The old Bill) and PC (Gone mad) Lovely episode this, don't be a mim, have a listen.
Episode 23 of 'Which is the Best' podcast is a bit of a cracker we think. Every week, Lee Kyle & Sammy Dobson decide which is the best out of things with similar or identical names. This week, in Lee's hometown of Jarrow, the sit in a car in view of the river where they used to have public hangings and choose between: Mail (Getting a letter) or Male (A man) and, in the category of 'Tread carefully, lest you show large scale ignorance': Hen do (A bachelorette party) or Hindu (Adherent to hinduism) We enjoyed the second bit of wordplay so much that we very much decided it was worth traversing the rocky waters of potential cultural insensitivity .Plus, we have a friend called Rahul who would have almost certainly have said it was alright if we'd asked him* *It actually is alright, we are perfectly decent people.
For the 22nd time, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson sit in a recording studio (Sammy's car) and decide 'Which is the Best?' out of things with similar or identical names. This week: Flour or flower? Is bread powder better than a plants face? AND Psycopaths or cycle paths? Do we prefer naughty life destroyers to a road for bikes?
Can we have a key to the door please? Episode 21 of Which is the Best? is here! This week Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson do what they always do, they decide which is best between things of similar or identical names. THIS WEEK: Comics ("Erm... actually it's a graphic novel") or comics (Lonely weirdos with microphone access). and Tart (Lemons and that), tart (Upgraded flan) or tart (Enthusiastically dressed lady). Incidentally, the picture here is of the comedian Si Buglass and has nothing to do with the episode. But look at it! LOOK AT IT!
Episode 20 is a day early because Lee is going to Eindhoven tomorrow and will be too busy doing whatever it is they do in Eindhoven to be doing it then. Welcome to Which is the Best, a podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is best between things of identical or similar names. It was almost a disaster this episode... It was supposed to be the 'Britpop special' for some reason, where we were going to decide whether ten bands of the era were better than ten things that sound like them (eg are Pulp better than pulp? Are Menswear better than men who swear?). But there was a problem. It was total shit. Turns out Menswear just aren't interesting. So we started again and instead present a variation on the theme: SO! We decide between (The oft' requested) Oasis (Arguing Manc Beatle enthusiasts), Oasis (Adequate juice), Oasis (A shop with shoes so hot they were sure to blow your mind) and Oasis (A puddle in a desert). Then, in a controversial last minute decision, we decide 'Which is the best?' between lip balm (Chapped lip soother) and a chip barm (What they call a chip butty in Manchester. To our American listeners, that is sort of like a French fry sandwich). So, I guess, in a way, this is very much a Manchester themed episode.
Welcome to Episode 19 of Which is the Best? podcast! It's a podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is the best between things with similar or identical names. This week: Stationary or stationary. Are pencil sharpeners and erasers and glitter pens and stuff better than not moving? Mate or mate. Are friends better than, you know, getting your leg over and stuff. Also, in a revelation he couldn't make without blushing, Lee reveals to the world the job he's been imagining he does since 1996. Does he come out of it sounding okay? No. Gavel.
Episode 17 is recorded at a car park in Beamish museum. If you are a regular, you'll know why. The picture that accompanies this episode is one that Sammy found from an earlier visit to this museum. Yes, THAT is what he looks like! This week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide Which Is The Best between: Ants and Aunts. Is an insect that can lift up a quite large leaf better than that lass that lives with your uncle? and Spirits or spirits. Is booze better than ghosts? Featuring: SORE ARMS! THE TIME LEE DRUNK SOMETHING HE SHOULDN'T HAVE! THE TIME LEE DRUNK SOMETHING ELSE HE REALLY SHOULDN'T HAVE! ANT HOLOCAUST
Episode 15 is here, starring Lee Kyle, Sammy Dobson and a labybird (Bug (Hi USA!)) who got into the recording studio (Car). We've stretched the limit of our 'Deciding which is the best out of things with the same or similar names' remit with the following decisions this week. So take a trip down Choice Boulevard as we decide WITB between: Broth or brothels? Is a thick soup better than a prostitute's workplace? and Tree fellers or tree fellers? Are lumberjacks better than three men from Ireland? Oh, we have badges available if you want one. Just email us on whichisthebestpodcast@gmail.com and we'll post them free to anywhere in the UK OR anywhere in the USA if you wait til Sammy goes there in September.
Episode 14 is here! This week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide (as ever) which is the best out of things with similar or identical names. Namely, are senses (Sight, touch and all their mates) better than a census (Knowing how many people are in a place)? Also is a groom (A wedding man) better than a groom (Having a wash and not stinking)? Oh, incidentally, did we mention that we are the new overlords of Vegas? Cos we bloody are!
Episode 13 is a whole day late but a whole podcast of words. Lee lost the file you see and is mostly sorry. It's the (BBC ENDORSED!) podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is the best out of things with similar or identical names while saying things they later wish they'd edited out. THIS WEEK! Is Neighbours (Soap opera, foundation of Lee's childhood) better than neighbours (People who live near you)? AND are mints (Breath saviours) better than mince (Animal mush)? We decide.
Episode 12 is dropping like it's hot, whatever that means. It's the podcast where the sane man Lee Kyle chats to the unacceptable woman Sammy Dobson and they use the smokescreen of deciding which is the best out of two things with similar or identical names to say things they later regret. THIS WEEK! Heroin or heroine? Is a tasty drug better than brave women? and Rapping or wrapping? Come on, you know what they both are, don't be a mim.
Episode 4 is here! We are aware that the idea for this podcast sounds twee but it isn't... This one contains a hideous childhood bath time tale and an accidental off colour joke near the end that both Lee and Sammy agreed should have been edited out but hasn't been. This week, Lee Kyle & Sammy Dobson decide which is the best out of the following: Bath (Washing vessel) or Bath (Town near Bristol) and Seal ("BAY-BEH! I compare you to a kiss from a rose" etc)or Seals (Shit sea lions) Go on, it's fucking great.
Hello the Horde! Here comes Episode 3 of 'Which is the Best?' podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is the best out of things with similar names and, on this occasion, slander a well known Peter Pan of pop. This week we go with 2 listener suggestions as we decide which is the best out of 'buns' (Food) or 'buns' (Hair) and Microchips (Computers) or Micro Chips (Quickety quick - Micro Chips!). Go on, it's fucking great.
Welcome to episode 2 of 'Which is the Best?' where the comedians Sammy Dobson and Lee Kyle decide which is the best out of things with identical or similarly named things. This week: Blockbusters or Blockbusters? Which is the best out of smash hit Hollywood movies or an 80s Bob Holness quiz? Yes, we are aware that there is a video shop of this name too but it was not included because it is rubbish. and Lindisfarne or Lindisfarne? Which is the best out of a 70s Geordie rock group or an island off the coast of Northumberland? Really bears fruit this one, Lee talks about a childhood holiday for catholic boys he once took and Sammy follows up with an anecdote about her fathers, frankly stunning, place in pop history.
Welcome to Episode 1, where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is the best out of compasses that you draw circles with OR compasses that you find North with. Also, which Power of Love is the best? Jennifer Rush, Huey Lewis and the News OR Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Features TWO Shakin' Stevens anecdotes.
