Hi, Lee Kyle from Which is the Best podcast is typing this, apologising for at least one of the voices I did during it. I had a lovely time recording it though, it's Episode 97 and cohost Sammy Dobson was in it too as was her twin or something. Not sure really, it all went a bit unusual. I think it might have been one of my favourite ever ones though. Or one of the worst ones, it's hard to say sometimes. Anyway, we definitely decided if meet was better than meat so the remit was very much fulfilled and that's what matters.

Recorded live in front of a studio (Comedy club) audience like Cheers or The Golden Girls, episode 94 of Which is the Best Podcast (The podcast which decides between things with similar names) is momentous mate. Bloody momentous. Not content with decideing whether Flash is better than Flash, the hosts (Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson) finally find out if they are half siblings. Then, even more importantly, Lee defends the honour of what may or may not be his new sister by racing her boyfriend in a running race. Can he back up his claims of being surprisingly fast (He actually claims to be the fastest man on Earth but this is unverified) for a fat bloke? Sorry about the amount of brackets in this blurb by the way (This can't help).

Episode 91 of Which is the Best podcast might be the most niche episode we've done. What it is is this: Sammy Dobson is one of the two hosts of it (Lee Kyle is the other) and on Thursday she was in the BBC soap opera Doctors playing a woman who is inexplicably angry at a deaf woman for using sign language. So, to celebrate, Lee and Sammy have recorded a commentary that can be listened to at the same time as the episode should you choose to watch it along on iPlayer. It's probably an episode that you can still enjoy without accompanying viewing. Is it? Maybe, not sure. As a sop to our remit, we do start with one of our patented decisions, as we decide Which Is The Best between: Hugh - Men called Hugh or Hue - Colour That bit is pretty rushed though. Which is the Best Podcast Episode 84 Gorilla vs Guerilla Each week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet and decide which is the best between things of the same or similar names. This week: Are gorillas (Massive chimps) better than guerillas (Having a war in a jungle)? This one was recorded about 2 hours before Lee's first show at this years Edinburgh Festival so is a bit manic, partly because a bird had just shat on his head. He's sleeping in a tent all month so expect this to continue... Because of time constraints, Sammy had to record the intro and outro herself and, predictably, she comes across as an oddball. She only made 2 glaring errors though, this is episode 84, not 83 and Lee's show is at 9.25 (Stand 4) not 9.35. She did well though, you know, considering.

Ostensibly, Which is the Best podcast is a show which decides between things of the same or similar names (This week: Chanel number 5 (Evocative smelly water) or Channel number 5 (Fuzzy TV channel)) but, in reality, what it really is, is a tragic document of the unravelling mental states of the hosts, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson. It's almost like a competition really, a competition where Sammy takes an impressive lead this week, her story about swimming in a river being a particular highlight. Near the end, there is a bit where she says something like "I always put something in my mouth before I put it in my body" and neither of them noticed how filthy this sounds. So, we hastily decided to put together an Easter special but couldn't really think of anything. So, we decided between: Jesus (Son of God/Nice man who lived around those times who did a lot of good things/lets not get into it here) vs Cheeses (Enzymed up milk) Yeah, they don't really sound the same do they? Rest assured though it is the same load of unfamily friendly nonsense as usual. Of course, after we'd recorded we thought of loads of other things we could have done. Maybe next year. The key part of this episode though has nothing to do with either thing, it is instead the BBC actress (BBC no less) Sammy Dobson act in a way that is not okay, not okay at all...

But if you haven't formed opinions by now, it is unlikely that you'd look to us for your political views. We've done it! A whole year of podcast, one a week for 52 weeks! To celebrate here's us doing an episode of Which is the Best? podcast. How like us. Lee Kyle is a man, Sammy Dobson is a woman, they make a podcast, it's sometimes funny, sometimes thoughtful but it's always here on a Monday. You can't put a price on that sort of regularity. They decide between things that have the same or similar names. That's just what they do. They're pretty damn unapologetic about it as it happens. After last weeks regrettable drunken episode, they're back with a regrettable sober one as they decide between: Plato: The thinking man's Socrates and Play Doh: The thinking man's plasticine. They know more about one of these things than the other. See you next year!

We could regret this... Usually, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet once a week and discuss things with the same or similar name, then they edit it into a roughly 50 minute long podcast. They do this sober. Yet, this week, due to it nearly being Christmas, they have had a selection of Christmas drinks and have left it unedited, because they can't face listening to it. Well, that's only partly true, they remembered giving out some information about the sexual habits of a semi famous comedian so they edited that out but they're pretty sure they left much worse in. They have tried to decide every one of the Christmas suggestions they got (Noel (Christmas), Noel (Edmonds, Gallagher etc) or Noe L (The removal of the letter L from the alphabet is one example)and they had some lovely cherry brandy. This one is definitely too long.

We've reached Episode 50, which must be pretty embarrassing for all the teachers who said we'd never amount to anything. For the past 50 weeks (and on into infinity) Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson have met to discuss which is the best between things of the same or similar names. It's a relatively pointless task but so is life really. This week, they over reach themselves be deciding between: Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, The Rock, The Rock and The Rock. What they have realised is that there are a lot meanings for the word Rock.

Just putting out a bonus thing, some of you will have heard this before, so feel free to delete from your device or whatever! It came to my (Lee) attention this morning that the episodes of my old podcast 21 Questions are no longer available, nor is our old 24 Minutes of Funny Team podcast. Not sure how the land lies, whether I can put them out on another feed or not, I might put them in a dropbox and email them to anyone who wants them. Or, I might add the occasional one as a pre weekend special on here now and again? Anyway, this is one of those, it's the one where I interviewed Sammy, so putting it on here makes sense. We'd only known each other for 3 months or so at this point and this was kind of the catalyst for us putting our old sketch group together and then for us starting WITB. The sound quality isn't as good as it is now (I think I was still plugging a mic into a laptop) but I remember it as being fun. Time to shatter illusions!

It's a cracker too, as Harriet Dyer goes off on some lovely tangents and fits the show like a bloomin' glove. She does an occasional podcast we love called Comic's Stopover that you should try if you haven't. This week we decide between: Sauce: stuff you put on chips or Sauce: "Ooooh Matron, you don't get many of those to the pound!"

Last Sunday, we recorded two LIVE podcasts at The Stand comedy club in Newcastle, people came from as far as Yorkshire, Manchester and Edinburgh to listen to, quite frankly, nonsense. It's been awful editing it, it took 6 attempts because the file got all corrupted or something and my laptop is not what it once was. Also, I'm dead poorly and, get this, yesterday was my tenth wedding anniversary and I still tried to get it out on time. I'm a trooper.

There's only one bit where Sammy reveals that she once accidentally disrespected a memorial service, so that's pretty good going I reckon. This weeks decisions are between: Wondering or wandering. Is having a good ponder (about where your life is going...) better than wandering (Getting lost). Feels like it could get deep this onedoesn't it? It doesn't. and Bananarama (Surly 80s hit machine) and Banana Armour(That container you sometimes see that you can keep bananas in) Yeah, it's not our best pun is it? Oh, by the way, we are doing live versions of this at the Great Yorkshire Fringe on 25th July in York (16.30 at the Tea Pot), and at the Edinburgh Fringe on 10th August (20.40 at Woodland Creatures). It's nice that we are performing at the Tea Pot and then at Woodland Creatures isn't it? Makes us seem like we are in a Beatrix Potter story....

Every week, Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson meet and decide things. This week, the 27th time, 'Which is the Best? Podcast' got scary. Look, this is just a normal episode really, until near the end when it turns into a live horror movie. Full disclosure: Neither of us are into ghosts, we don't really believe in them. But, for a few minutes at the end of this podcast we absolutely did and it was terrifying. Sammy is an actor, a good one too, but she's not THAT good. Lee isn't an actor at all, if he was just pretending to be scared, you'd be able to tell... The rest of the Episode is a light hearted affair, we decide whether Cricket (Long game) is better than crickets (Itchy legged mini beasts) and then, on a whim, whether Jimmy Cricket (Funny man (Very nice in real life too, showbiz fact fans) is better than Jiminy Cricket (Wooden boy advisor). That's all very much an entree to an eerie main course though.

This week, in Lee's hometown of Jarrow, the sit in a car in view of the river where they used to have public hangings and choose between: Mail (Getting a letter) or Male (A man) and, in the category of 'Tread carefully, lest you show large scale ignorance': Hen do (A bachelorette party) or Hindu (Adherent to hinduism) We enjoyed the second bit of wordplay so much that we very much decided it was worth traversing the rocky waters of potential cultural insensitivity .Plus, we have a friend called Rahul who would have almost certainly have said it was alright if we'd asked him* *It actually is alright, we are perfectly decent people.

Episode 20 is a day early because Lee is going to Eindhoven tomorrow and will be too busy doing whatever it is they do in Eindhoven to be doing it then. Welcome to Which is the Best, a podcast where Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson decide which is best between things of identical or similar names. It was almost a disaster this episode... It was supposed to be the 'Britpop special' for some reason, where we were going to decide whether ten bands of the era were better than ten things that sound like them (eg are Pulp better than pulp? Are Menswear better than men who swear?). But there was a problem. It was total shit. Turns out Menswear just aren't interesting. So we started again and instead present a variation on the theme: SO! We decide between (The oft' requested) Oasis (Arguing Manc Beatle enthusiasts), Oasis (Adequate juice), Oasis (A shop with shoes so hot they were sure to blow your mind) and Oasis (A puddle in a desert). Then, in a controversial last minute decision, we decide 'Which is the best?' between lip balm (Chapped lip soother) and a chip barm (What they call a chip butty in Manchester. To our American listeners, that is sort of like a French fry sandwich). So, I guess, in a way, this is very much a Manchester themed episode.
