Anthony Rose is the co-founder and CEO of SeedLegals, the #1 platform for startup funding and legals in the UK. But long before he was helping tens of thousands of founders raise capital and avoid legal potholes, Anthony was in the digital trenches – first turning the music industry on its head with Kazaa, then helping reinvent online streaming at the BBC with iPlayer, before building and selling a few startups of his own.In this episode, we go deep into what it really means to have founder-problem fit, the magic of applying a product mindset to gnarly challenges like startup legal docs, and how Anthony is now taking SeedLegals across the pond to crack the US market. We also talk about reinventing yourself as a founder, knowing when to build vs. when to sell, and why your legal docs should be like the owner's manual in your car – built on all the ways things can go wrong. If you've ever tried to sell an unfinished product, pitched into skepticism, or had a strange love affair with a weirdly specific problem – this one's for you.KEY POINTS FROM THIS EPISODEFounder-Problem Fit: Anthony thrives on solving the problems nobody else wants—like turning legal complexity into a smooth, scalable product experience for startups. The Productization of Law: From auto-generated funding docs to clauses like “No Pay, No Play,” SeedLegals is redefining how legals should work at early stage. From iPlayer to Legal Tech: The shift from media to law wasn't planned—it was sparked by a party in Rome and a technical founder's obsession with inefficiency.Scaling the Right Way: Anthony explains why raising too much money too soon can kill your startup's focus—and how lean execution wins.Going Global, One Event at a Time: With SeedLegals now expanding into the US, Anthony is pounding the pavement in NYC to build community-led growth from the ground up.Selling as a Founder: Why the first sales hire outperformed Anthony—and how he learned to switch from “builder brain” to “buyer focus.Connect with Anthony Rose and SeedLegals:SeedLegals WebsiteFollow SeedLegals on LinkedIn Connect with Anthony Rose on LinkedInKEYWORDS:SeedLegals, Anthony Rose, Pete Townsend, MoneyNeverSleeps, startup legal docs, founder problem fit, UK startups, US expansion, startup funding, cap tables, term sheets, startup founder tips, legal tech, product development, startup fundraising, iPlayer, Kazaa, venture capital, VC advice, New York startups, scaling globally, early stage startups, startup mistakes, how to pitch, founder legal protection, Techstars Web3, startup acceleratorLeave a review and subscribe onApple PodcastsSpotifyMoneyNeverSleeps (website)Email us: info@norioventures.comFollow on X(Twitter):Pete Townsend: https://twitter.com/petetownsendnvMoneyNeverSleeps: https://twitter.com/MNSshowFollow on LinkedIn:Pete Townsend: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pete-townsend-1b18301a/MoneyNeverSleeps: https://www.linkedin.com/company/28661903/MoneyNeverSleeps newsletter: https://moneyneversleeps.substack.com/
Billy Monger's ambition to become a professional racing driver looked like it had come to a serious and tragic end when a crash on the track aged 17 resulted in both his legs being amputated - one above knee, one below. Talking with Emma Tracey, he looks back at how life changed after the accident, and the challenges he's put himself through since then. After breaking it to his parents his racing career wasn't over, he was back on the track within months. Since then he's raced in F3, taken part in BBC Two's Celebrity Race Across the World and most recently the Iron Man challenge - which is the subject of a new BBC documentary on iPlayer this week. We're reasonably good at imagining what nuclear war would be like (although it'd probably be even worse than that). But it's not the same for most other complicated, really really scary risks. Eg: the UK government is still not taking seriously the risk of another pandemic - and that's despite the fact we LITERALLY JUST HAD ONE, GUYS. And it's the same for climate change - with knobs on. For sure, our politicians, banks and cultures just aren't ready for the climate-clusterfudge. But if you're anything like me, there's a limit to how much of it you can take into your overloaded little brain as well. Why? Are we just not evolved for it? Are we doomed to sail merrily into a storm we don't want to see coming? No, says this episode's guest, the fab Laurie Laybourn from the Strategic Climate Risk Initiative. Yes, it's hard to wrap your head around. But Laurie thinks we're very far from doomed - as long as we first understand where we're actually starting from. Listen for a chat that's sometimes vertiginous, sometimes funny, and always inspiring. And you can't say you weren't warned, but here's Threads (1984) on iPlayer. These new-format episodes take a long time to record, script, and edit. If you like it - that'll make me happy. Let me know your thoughts on the show - hello@yourbrainonclimate.com. Phil goes into full on Scrooge mode as the pair of them discuss the highs and lows of another classic Doctor Who story being adapted for a modern audience. Whatever that means. Also, we get an early Christmas present in the form of Jon Pertwee's first season getting the The Collection treatment on bluray, which puts the festive spirit into Phil. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Welcome The First Doctor - An Unearthly Child Completely ignoring the fact that they did another version of this about 30 episodes ago, Phil and Scott celebrate Doctor Who Day start their series of looking at how good how each Doctor's inaugral stories were at introducing them to the waiting world, with An Unearthly Child, starring William Hartnell. This was also Scott's first time watching this story in its entirety, so were cavemen and fire a good way to introduce the world to Doctor Who? And in the news, Phil surprises Scott live on air with convention news and the announcement of Whooverville 16 in August 2025 and because Christmas is just around the corner, Doctor Who fans need gift ideas, so that means a long overdue peek into Omega's Tat Corner. Jeannette is joined by TV presenter and adventurer, Alice Morrison, who shares her remarkable journey from a conventional career as a chief executive to embarking on thrilling adventures, including cycling across Africa and exploring the hidden histories of the Nabataean civilisation in her new TV series, "Arabian Adventures." Jeannette and Alice explore the catalysts for change in Alice's life, her experiences with self-discovery, and the importance of living authentically KEY TAKEAWAYS Life can take unexpected turns, and it's essential to adapt and find new paths. The journey from a conventional career to adventurous pursuits can lead to personal growth and fulfilment. Engaging in physically challenging activities can help reset your mindset, allowing you to focus on the present moment rather than getting lost in worries about the future. It's crucial to understand that your identity is not defined by societal expectations or roles. Embracing your true self and making choices that align with your values is more important than seeking external validation. Negative feedback is a part of life, but it's essential to not let it deter you. Understanding that others' opinions are often reflections of their own experiences can help you maintain your confidence and focus on your goals. BEST MOMENTS "I think really the physical side of it, in a way, is a servant to the exploration side of it." "It's a really interesting time for you to be doing this because of... creating a diverse, equitable part of the world, which is coming from quite a dark place." "What someone else thinks of you is none of your business." "If you keep walking, you'll get to your destination. And it's the same in life." This is the perfect time to get focused on what YOU want to really achieve in your business, career, and life. It's never too late to be BRAVE and BOLD and unlock your inner BRILLIANT. As November marks the TV premiere on BBC 2 of Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger, as well as a season of films on the BBC and iPlayer, Ellen E Jones and Mark Kermode explore the films of these two titans of British Cinema.Film and culture writer, Lilian Crawford shares with Mark why the works of Powell and Pressburger are a matter of life and death, and how the duo's technicolour films took their cue from the worlds of ballet and opera. Mark also speaks to British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay, for whom Powell and Pressburger's films hold a strong personal allure. She discusses the technical wizardry and in-camera magic found across their productions, and how that has inspired her own image-making. Meanwhile, Kevin Macdonald, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker and grandson of Emeric Pressburger, shares with Ellen how some Powell and Pressburger films are nuanced examples of wartime propaganda, and why some still resonate and remain relevant to Britain today.
