Prepare to be chilled to the bone as we navigate the harrowing world of William Friedkin's 1973 horror classic, "The Exorcist." Your hosts, Mike Caron and Chad Campbell, along with our special guest, Marc Watson, lead you down a path of suspense and terror that will have you sleeping with the lights on. Together, we'll dissect the film, scrutinizing its spine-tingling plot, unforgettable characters and innovative film techniques. We'll explore why this movie has permanently etched itself into our consciousness and continues to ignite our deepest fears. How do you feel about the supernatural? Intrigued, fearful, or fascinated? We'll investigate the reactions of Chris and Regan, the film's key characters, to the eerie happenings around them. We'll also delve into the quintessential trope of the priest questioning his faith. We promise your perspective on horror films will never be the same after this. We'll also decode some of the film's most memorable lines and iconic moments, examining their impact and discussing why they still send shivers down our spines. Brace yourself. We're heading into the heart of darkness, dissecting the film's most disturbing scenes. We'll break down why the infamous crab-walk and possession scenes are so unnerving, and debate the level of gratuitousness in each. We'll also take a critical look at the film's lesser-known supernatural elements. Is "The Exorcist" just a movie or a terrifying entry into the world of the unknown? We've got a chilling exploration of this horror classic waiting for you. This is more than just a podcast episode. It's a journey into the macabre world of "The Exorcist" that you won't want to miss. Edinburgh's newest malt whisky distillery opened with a bang - or perhaps, a cough. That's because the Bonnington Distillery had barely filled its first few casks with new make spirit before the Covid-19 pandemic forced Halewood Wines & Spirits to close the place down for a deep cleaning to comply with public health restrictions. Bonnington is the home for Halewood's revival of the venerable John Crabbie & Co. Scotch Whisky brand, and we'll talk with Marc Watson on WhiskyCast In-Depth. He oversees distilling and maturation at Bonnington, and started his career making gin before a certain podcast episode prompted him to focus on whisky several years ago - he'll explain that story, too. In the news, South Africa is reviving its nationwide ban on alcohol sales as Covid-19 caseloads start to rise, and one of India's largest whisky distilleries could be affected by a lockdown that takes effect Tuesday while more U.S. states are closing bars again. We'll hear how one Kentucky distillery is trying to keep a Bourbon legend safe while still allowing visitors, and catch up with the results of a special raffle to support an Irish children's charity.

Welcome to bonus episode 14 of - The Stephen King Podcast  - Constant and New Listeners! As a self-proclaimed anti-author, Marc Watson's success has a lot to do with his unconventional approach; he takes his writing seriously, but he'll also be the first to tell you, sometimes, he'd rather be fishing on the river or watching his son's play hockey, and manages to balance his time because he knows the stories he wants to tell are worth writing down. Marc also pushes the boundaries of genre fiction, and captivates readers with the question-who says you can't have robots and magic in the same novel? Enter ‘Science Fantasy' and Marc's latest release, Catching Hell: Part 2 Destination released by Double Dragon Press. On the heels of the release of Catching Hell: Part One Journey (April, 2018) which is still fresh in the minds of readers, Part Two Destination (November, 2018) continues the perilous journey of two best friends, Johan and Aryu, as science fiction and fantasy, technology and magic, collide in this epic finisher like no other. Avenging the destruction of their home was their goal, but with much more at stake, the robotic Army of Old, and the mysticism behind the Power, the two brave warriors will have to do more than just fight their fears if they are ever going to bridge the gap between them and reunite. Marc, also a part-time writing student at the Athabasca University, is known for using a variety of writing styles to write effectively and believably his cross-genre fiction in order to engage readers with thought provoking world building and unforgettable characters.   In this podcast: 1) Intro 2) Interview 3) Outro   --------------------------------------------------------------- Intro Music - Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult Outro Music - Stand by Me by Ben E. With the second SportsPro OTT Summit confirmed for Madrid on 28th and 29th November, SportsPro editor-at-large Eoin Connolly dips into the archives to find conversations with representatives of two broadcasters at very different stages of their commercial journeys. First up is Marc Watson, group chief executive of Eleven Sports, active around the world and newly launched in the UK. It has taken a nimble, flexible approach to each market, and Watson discusses how to decide what method of digital delivery works for each market.  Then Sky Sports director of strategy Jonathan Licht talks about the effects of the UK pay-TV giant's switch to vertical, single-sport channels, its evolving relationships with rights holders, and its take on creating bundled value for viewers on its multi-genre platform in an age of stripping down to single sources.

Marc Watson is the Executive Chairman of global sports broadcast newcomer Eleven Sports. A long-time sports media executive, Watson was the CEO of BT TV who masterminded the daring raid on the Premier League rights and BT’s subsequent entrance into the UK sports broadcast landscape in 2012. He left BT in 2014, spent some time away, before hooking up with Andrea Radrizzani – of MP & Silva fame – to take a role in his old pal’s new business empire, Aser Media. Eleven Sports is the gleaming broadcast jewel in the Aser crown. According to Watson, it's the world's fastest growing sports network and an example of what can be achieved in this age of stripped down and nimble OTT broadcast distribution. Launching with just three-months’ notice in 2015, the network now includes 17 services in seven markets across the world with 14 million paying customers. The network has different but significant services in the likes of Belgium, Singapore, Poland, Taiwan, Italy and the US and it seems like they’re doing rights deals on a regular basis, with EFL rights, MMA rights, and Drone Racing some of the latest acquisitions. In this conversation, Watson covers: - how to break into new markets with broadcast products; - what he expects from Amazon and the social networks in the sports broadcast market; - why he considers Perform and DAZN to be the bravest players in the sports media market today; - and why Italy and Africa are ripe with opportunity.

On today's programme with Steve Hewlett:Why was BT prepared to pay so much for the rights to show Premiership football? Marc Watson is chief executive of BT Vision and he explains the strategy, while analyst Mathew Horsman of Mediatique looks at the implications for consumers and for rivals BSkyB.The Leveson Inquiry has raised concerns over a story in the Mail on Sunday this weekend which alleged Lord Justice Leveson threatened to quit over comments from Michael Gove - a claim he strongly denies. Anne McElvoy of The Economist and Professor Brian Cathcart from the Hacked Off campaign discuss whether the inquiry really does have the "chilling effect" on the media which some claim and whether the inquiry's response to the Mail on Sunday's story is proportionate. And Steve talks to Mark Damazer of St Peter's College, Oxford, about the variety of voices on the BBC. A report from Ofcom this week said there's a potential risk that people who consume the BBC's services don't get a wide enough range of voices and suggests the BBC Trust should monitor this. Mark Damazer is a former controller of Radio 4. The producer is Simon Tillotson.
