E-scooter injuries are on the rise in Canada -- and they're becoming increasingly common among kids under 18. A new survey released by the Canadian Pediatric Association found ten children died in the last year after an e-scooter collision, and the number of severe injuries has also increased. We speak with Dr. Daniel Rosenfield, a pediatric emergency physician at SickKids hospital in Toronto, about why these injuries are becoming more common year after year, what he's seen in his own ER, and what can be done to prevent more collisions.

Wegen der viralen Clips zu Kaulitz & Kaulitz stehen anredo und BastiMasti plötzlich mitten im Shitstorm. Basti hat Bill Kaulitz (ironisch) als alkoholkrank bezeichnet und das Internet rennt mit Mistgabeln durch die Kommentarspalten. Gleichzeitig meldet sich die Feuerwerksbubble wegen anredos Theorie über die vermeintlich sabotierte Drohnenshow bei den Kölner Lichtern. Langsam fragen sich beide, ob sie Social Media überhaupt noch beherrschen oder selbst Teil des Problems geworden sind. Wie viel Provokation braucht Content in sozialen Medien und wie hält man die Reaktionen danach aus? Zwischen Kritikresistenz, eskaliertem Community Management und einem wilden Algorithmus-Problem beginnt anredo, die sogenannte Social-Media-Strategie zu hinterfragen.  Dann folgt eine Geschichte, mit der niemand gerechnet hat: Basti entdeckt in seinem vermeintlich heterosexuellen und eher konservativen Heimat-Freundeskreis plötzlich eine gemeinsame Vorliebe für Femboys. Und zwar erstaunlich offen und erstaunlich konkret. Woher kommt diese neue Faszination? Ist das ein Zeichen für veränderte Rollenbilder, eine bislang unausgesprochene homoerotische Fantasie oder wird hier lediglich ein Fetisch zur nächsten Pornokategorie? Basti und anredo versuchen herauszufinden, was gerade passiert und merken schnell: Nach dem letzten Shitstorm bewegen sie sich schon wieder auf verdammt dünnem Eis.  Doch auch in den anderen Tagesordnungspunkten geht es wild her: Basti erklärt E-Scooter zum maximalen Aura-Loss und anredo entdeckt mit WorldGuessr eine vermeintlich brandneue Welt. Two separate road fatalities have occurred on Irish roads in the early hours of this morning: an e-scooter user in Navan, county Meath, and a man in his late teens in county Tipperary. RTÉ Eastern Correspondent Samantha Libreri joined Fiachra with the details.

On July 13th, six-year-old Nathan Palmer from Barraduff suffered a fractured skull as a result of a collision with an e-scooter. His mother Chloe spoke to Treasa Murphy.

Illegal e-scooters could be seized and destroyed under new plans being considered by the Government.    It follows changes announced earlier this week banning e-scooters for under 18s, with a further clampdown expected in September.    In August, higher fines will come into effect to get a seized scrambler returned.    Junior Transport Minister Sean Canney says he's looking at similar fines for e-scooter users.   The changes come amid growing concern over serious injuries involving young people and increasing reports of dangerous and antisocial use.     But how will these new rules be enforced, and will they make our roads and streets any safer?     To discuss that, Alan Morrissey was joined by Superintendent Eddie Golden, Traffic Superintendent for the Clare/Tipperary Garda Division. In recent weeks, the Irish Government has come under pressure to introduce a ban on e-scooters following a steep increase in the number of serious e-scooter accidents involving children. One of those supporting the ban is Seana Brennan, a mother of two from Cavan whose son, Mason, was involved in a serious e-scooter accident last year.Brennan joins Bernice Harrison on today's episode to share her family's experience and to highlight the dangers e-scooters pose to children.
