Is the Padres handing out rally towels vs their LATE AUGUST series vs the Dodgers a good look or bad look?
Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner break down MLB Tuesday betting. The latest MLB Tuesday betting preview from RJ Bell's Dream Preview podcast, hosted by Munaf Manji with Griffin Warner, sets the stage for a critical slate of late-August matchups as teams position themselves for the postseason. The episode dives deep into 14 games on the betting board, breaking down pitching matchups, recent team form, and value spots for bettors. Manji and Warner are riding an 83% hot streak on best bets, going 10–2 in their last 12, and their confidence and banter drive an engaging analysis that blends sharp betting insight with humor and strong statistical breakdowns. The show begins with Red Sox vs Orioles, where Lucas Giolito's improved form and Kyle Braddish's return from Tommy John make Boston and the over intriguing plays. The Braves vs Marlins matchup highlights Sandy Alcantara's struggles, with Warner leaning to the home underdog Marlins and the over on 7.5 runs. In Rays vs Guardians, Shane Baz's road splits and Cleveland's sputtering offense create strong value on Tampa Bay plus money. The Yankees vs Nationals discussion centers on Luis Gil's control issues and the Yankees' defensive problems, leading both analysts toward overs rather than trusting either side. Toronto vs Minnesota showcases Chris Bassett's dominant home record against Bailey Ober's brutal losing streak, making the Blue Jays run line their clear best bet of the day. The Mets remain a “fade” team, with Sean Manaea's poor record and Jesus Luzardo's strong history against New York cementing Philadelphia as the sharper side. Brewers vs Diamondbacks is pegged as a potential shootout, with Jacob Misiorowski's walk issues and Arizona's power threats pointing to an over. Royals vs White Sox highlights Chicago's lack of offense despite Martin Pérez's decent outings, pushing Kansas City as the stronger side. Other key breakdowns include Pirates vs Cardinals (leaning over), Angels vs Rangers (under 8.5 tabbed as Warner's best bet despite Corbin's volatility), and Astros vs Rockies (only playable through alternate run lines given Houston's -315 price). Padres vs Mariners positions Dylan Cease as a value underdog against a hittable Luis Castillo, while Cubs vs Giants trends under behind Matthew Boyd's road splits and Justin Verlander's home tendencies. The card wraps with Reds vs Dodgers, where Nick Martinez's inconsistency and Clayton Kershaw's diminished form suggest the over nine runs is the sharper angle. Beyond game analysis, the hosts highlight Pregame.com promotions, including a Beat Greg Shaker college football contest with $1,000 in prizes and a 20% sitewide discount using the promo code SLUGGER20. This synergy between MLB betting insights, college football contests, and broader handicapping content reinforces Pregame's role as a hub for sharp sports betting information. From an editorial perspective, the podcast succeeds by pairing statistical depth with practical wagering advice, appealing both to seasoned bettors and newer fans seeking guidance. The mix of trends, fantasy baseball angles, and promotional tie-ins keeps the content dynamic. My commentary is that the show's value lies not just in picks, but in its process: highlighting faulty lines, identifying exploitable splits, and stressing the importance of context when interpreting numbers. The betting insights are actionable, but the broader lesson is that line shopping, injury context, and market awareness are as crucial as raw stats. Late-August baseball handicapping, with best bets on Blue Jays run line and Angels vs Rangers under anchoring a comprehensive breakdown. As playoff races tighten, bettors get both sharp picks and a reminder of Pregame.com's broader offerings, making it a must-listen for anyone serious about MLB odds, betting strategies, and value plays heading into September. In his second appearance on Anthony Plog on Music, celebrated biographer and composer Jan Swafford returns for an expansive two-part conversation that dives deep into the very soul of classical music. In his previous interview from 2021, Jan discussed his monumental biographies of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and Ives. But his intellectual and creative output extends far beyond those volumes, and this new set of interviews explores more of his wide-ranging contributions to the world of music. In Part 1, the focus turns to Jan's book Language of the Spirit: An Introduction to Classical Music, a refreshingly vivid and often personal guide to the history of Western music. The discussion begins with a few select quotes that set the tone for Swafford's engaging style—an approach that never shies away from humor, insight, or imagination. Along the way, Tony and Jan take an unexpected detour into a blog post imagining a conversation between Mozart and Picasso's Guernica. As the conversation returns to the content of Language of the Spirit, the two explore key aspects of the Baroque period, including figured bass and the challenges of intonation. The episode concludes with a discussion of three of Jan's own compositions—They That Mourn, Late August, First Snow, and River—offering a glimpse into his creative voice as a composer.Part 2 picks up right where they left off, continuing the discussion of the Baroque with special attention to the genius of Bach and the dramatic flair of Händel. This naturally leads into a thoughtful debate on performance practice, particularly the tension between historically informed performances (HIP) and modern approaches. Jan brings his signature candor and wit to the conversation, questioning what authenticity really means and whether the HIP movement sometimes overreaches. The episode closes on a memorable note, as Jan describes the extraordinary experience of holding the original manuscripts of Mozart's Marriage of Figaro and Brahms's German Requiem in his hands. And in true Swafford fashion, he promises to return again—next time, to tackle the Classical era through to the present day.DoricoProfessional music notation and composition software from Steinberg. Late August is often called the Dog Days of Summer and...boy, did the end of August 1999 every live up that reputation! August 16-31 was something of a drag. We still got the requisite end of summer bad movie dump, featuring: Dudley Do-Right! In Too Deep! The Astronaut's Wife! and Teaching Mrs. Tingle! Plus chart-topping albums from Christina Aguilera, The (Dixie) Chicks, and Lou Bega! Plus, pop singer Vitamin C drops the album that would give us 2000's graduation anthem "Graduation (Friends Forever)"! Plus, Regis Philbin for the first time asks America, "Is that your FINAL ANSWER?" Also...East Timor begins its journey to becoming a new country! This week, John is joined by good friend of the show Julia Sirmons for the most boring two weeks (but a fun episode of) 99@25!

Late August, overnight insects, and highway sounds; suburban ambience. The children are back to school, and Halloween has taken over entire sections of local department stores. But the pools are still open, and Labor Day is a week out. Suburbanites don't know whether to high-five a lifeguard or put a ***** pumpkin on the front stoop. Was that a football whistle? Is white still acceptable? At night, the bugs still sing under the evergreens, made bright red, murderously red by the tall Applebees sign just a klick away. The bugs persevere, for now.

ré·su·mé [rez-oo-mey, rez-oo-mey] noun1. a summing up; summary. 2. a brief written account of personal, educational, and professional qualifications and experience, as that prepared by an applicant for a job. In Comic Reader Résumé, I use Mike's Amazing World of Comics to travel back through time via his virtual newsstand to the genesis point of my lifelong collecting of comics. From there, I can offer a “work history” of my fandom through my active purchasing of (relatively) new comic books beginning in January of 1982, when my interest in the medium went from sporadic and unformed to routine on through compulsive accumulation. To streamline the narrative and keep the subjects at least remotely contemporaneous, I will not generally be discussing what we call back issues: books bought long after their publication date. Sometimes, I will cover a book published on a given month that I picked up within a year or so that date, and I give myself an especially wide berth on this aspect in the first couple of “origins” episodes. We'll get more rigidly on point as my memories crystallize and my “hobby” spirals out of control into the defining characteristic of my life (eventually outpacing squalor and competing neuroses.)
