Bill Gruhlkey and Roger Morris welcome Pastor Guy Walker from Barn Church in Hereford,Texas to continue discussing why you must cast all your care on Jesus and live with hope, faith, and love (1 Corinthians 13:13), because hope fuels faith and faith activates God's promises (Hebrews 11:1,6). You're encouraged to guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23), watch your confession, and surround yourself with people who speak scriptural counsel, since "faith comes by hearing" (Romans 10:17). The conversation emphasizes that God still works miracles and confirms His Word with signs, including healing (Isaiah 53; 1 Peter 2:24), and that asking according to His will in the Word brings confidence (1 John 5:14). Pastor Guy Walker shares the terstimony of his brother's recovery from paralysis as an example of strong confession. You will be strengthened and encouraged to reject anxiety through prayer and to meditate on what is true (Philippians 4:4-9). This week on Extraordinary Living with Bill and Roger, Bill Gruhlkey and Roger Morris welcome Pastor Guy Walker, Senior Pastor at Barn Church in Hereford, Texas, to discuss how Christians can overcome today's widespread anxiety and fear by changing the way they think and living in the reality of God's kingdom. Guy teaches that emotions follow thoughts, so believers must renew their minds with God's Word, stay in agreement with it, and cast their cares on the Lord because He cares for them. He explains that hope—produced by an interactive relationship with the Holy Spirit through prayer, spiritual disciplines, and pursuing spiritual gifts—builds faith and positions you for miracles and breakthrough. The conversation challenges passive "God will do it all" thinking, emphasizes believer's authority and obedience, and encourages guarding your confession. The episode ends with an invitation for you to receive Jesus and connect through billandroger.com. Send a textIn one specific section of his book, Tomlinson details that to qualify for the Increment, a certain amount of time must be served with MI6: “...SAS and SBS personnel must have served for at least five years and have reached the rank of sergeant. They are security vetted by MI6 and given a short induction course into the function and objectives of the service. If they have not already learnt surveillance skills, they take a three-week course at the Fort. Back at their bases in Hereford and Poole, their already substantial military skills are fine-tuned. They learn how to use improvised explosives and sabotage techniques, as well as advanced VIP protection skills, study guerilla warfare organisation and practise advanced insertion techniques - for example, high-altitude parachuting from commercial aircraft or covert landings from submarines. Advanced civilian qualifications are acquired: several of the SBS Increment have commercial ship's skipper's tickets in their alias name, enabling them legally to hire, say, a fishing trawler.” Recruiters for E Squadron are also known to choose a wide variety of individuals to fill their vacancies, hiring from countries such as Fiji, Malta and Jamaica, as well as British citizens of India, Yemen and Nigeria, to name a few. Additionally, women are also regularly recruited in these positions, with hired individuals needing to be able to fit in anywhere, easily, with one source telling The Sun, “Women are often the best at this sort of work. If a group of blokes turns up, it always looks suspicious. We haven't had a female Bond in the films, but there are already lots in real life.” Welcome to Wars of the World....Support the show

In our second "Industry Episode" we're learning about a company almost every service member has at least noticed on their installation: BeaverFit.And if you've been confused about the odd company name, don't worry, we get that history right away. Tom Beaver, founder of BeaverFit UK, built his first outdoor training rig in 2006 while preparing for the grueling Enduroman Arch to Arc, an 87-mile run from London to the English Channel, a swim across the Channel and a 180-mile bike ride to Paris.A few years later, the Special Air Service teams from Hereford — just a stone's throw away from the Beaver family farm in Shropshire — spent a day with Tom training on his unique outdoor rig and immediately asked him to build them one.Our guest for this discussion is Jason Clark, BeaverFit's Director of Education and Training. Jason is a Marine Corps combat veteran and former drill instructor. He later went on to work in the fitness industry and then as a strength and conditioning director for the Marine Corps HITT program. He also served on the advisory board for human performance at HQ Marine Corps. Since this is one of our “industry episodes” our conversation will be more focused on BeaverFit than Jason himself, but the Any Given Day podcast just published an episode that's much more personal, so if you want to learn more about the guy, check it out!

In this episode, with National Western upon us, Rachel reached back into the vaults and pulled her conversation with the late Evan Slack from 2020. Slack speaks about the Denver Union Stock Yards and mixing and mingling with the people in the yards for many years. It's one of my favorite conversations with a legend and someone I look up to. I'm now a farm broadcaster on Western Ag Network, which Russell Nemetz purchased from Slack as the original Evan Slack Network. In this episode of 1881, Shane Bedwell sits down with Austin Snedden, a fifth-generation California rancher and newly elected chairman of the American Hereford Association Board of Directors. Austin shares his background, the long-standing history of Snedden Ranch and how his family continues to build a program rooted in quality Hereford cattle with a strong focus on meeting the needs of commercial customers. Their conversation also explores Austin's vision for the breed, where the Association is headed and how Herefords continue to shape the commercial cattle industry today.
In this episode, Rachel visits with Dr. Mahesh Nair, an associate professor of Meat Science at Colorado State University. We bonded over our mutual frustration surrounding the ad campaigns that crop up on The Facebook comparing a package of grocery store packaged ground beef, and a vacuum packed, direct to consumer-type pound of ground and the accompanying claim that "their" beef is better than that available in the store. It's crap and Mahesh is going to tell you how to shut that argument down in two words. He's my fave. ATLP Rewind - Originally Released November 12, 2024It's been nearly two years to the day since we last had Sammy Carlile on Around The Layout Podcast and considering the amazing amount of things to talk about with his Santa Fe Hereford Subdivision, that's completely unacceptable! Making up for lost time, he's our guest for this month's Talking Ops with Don Irace, where Sammy shared how he developed his operating scheme, runs a whole bunch of trains, and keeps his operating crew busy and on their toes.Learn more about this episode on our website:aroundthelayout.com/rewindThank you to our episode sponsor, Oak Hill Model Railroad Track Supply:https://ohrtracksupply.com/Thank you to our episode sponsor, ScaleSigns.com:https://scalesigns.com/Thank you to our episode sponsor, Home Shops:https://homeshops.net/

In this episode, Rachel visits with the writer Joe Wilkins, an eastern Montana ranch-raised writer and teacher. Rachel reached out to Wilkins after reading The Entire Sky. Then, after their interview, she finished Fall Back Down When I Die. That one is now in her top three all time favorites, alongside Kent Haruf's Plainsong.
