Ben Cherington said after the trade deadline yesterday that the Pirates looked around for bats or position players, but didn't come to an agreement or find a deal that they liked. Poni says that he still thinks the day as a whole was a win for the team. Joel Nesbitt said that the Pirates should have made a trade for a right-handed bat to make the day perfect, which the guys agree with.

MLB writer John Perrotto joined the show. John mentions that weird things always happen in the last hour before the end of the trade deadline, so he wouldn't be surprised if the Pirates go out and add more pieces. He also mentions that the Pirates next move should be a middle of the rotation starter. John thinks that trading David Bednar last year was a bad idea, considering the return in the deal. He says that there are very few right-handed bats available at this point, but mentions Heliot Ramos as a potential trade candidate that is still available.

Veteran baseball writer John Perrotto joined the show. John says that it males sense that there aren't a lot of teams that are ready to sell players yet, citing how the Red Sox just swept the Yankees and have to think twice about shipping off their bullpen arms.
