Rick welcomes Jolene Richardson back to the podcast with the full intention of pissing off the fragile men of his generation to discuss Ghostbusters 2016! We compare it to the original classic, marvel at the constant humor throughout, wonder how much was improvised, & give figurative flowers to the fantastic women that star in it. Bravo Melissa McCarthy. Kristin Whig, Leslie Jones & Kate McKinnon. We also give Neil Casey, Andy Garcia & Michael K Williams, their props as well. We point fingers to the surviving original cast for backing the film & then rescinding their support after small men on the internet vilified this movie before they ever saw it. Jolene talks about her love of Bridesmaids & the importance of female representation & visibility plus a whole lot more! Please subscribe, review & give us that 5 star boop!

This year for SPOOKY SEASON, we decided to do something a little different. Instead of talking horror movies or covering a Razzie-winner, we decided to let a friend talk us into covering something particularly controversial -- 2016's Ghostbusters: Answer the Call! Our friend and life-long Ghostbusters superfan Matt (AKA Toaster) joins us to talk about what did and didn't work about this Paul Feig film (spoilers: more than you might remember, considering this didn't get a single Razzie nomination). Jack gets talked into changing his mind on something, Matt reminds us of some of the awful nonsense held within the Sony Pictures email leak, everyone reveals embarrassing childhood stories surrounding the original Ghostbusters, and Joe forgets who was in this movie for second. There's a congressional hearing on UFOs! Tony finds UFO speculation endlessly fascinating. But sadly, try as he might, he cannot get Johnny on board. The circular logistics required to maintain such discussions feel tedious to him. Tony cannot hide his disappointment. They do a Contact-esque scene that would make Carl Sagan feel embarrassed. And then, Neil Casey jets in out of the clear blue sky to add his own theories about the mysterious flying objects! It's one of those discussions that sounds reasonable, at the beginning, and then makes progressively less sense as it goes along. They recount the glory days of their old improv team, the strange customs that Tony and Neil shared when they were roommates, and Neil's aerobatics training…because Neil is a pilot who owns a plane! This episode is very flying-through-the-air-ish, I guess. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
