"The ultimate goal is to make cat welfare and population management so normal, so embedded in our communities, that it's simply what a community does." This episode is sponsored-in-part by Maddie's Fund, The Animal Rights Foundation, and The Underfoot Podcast. In this insightful follow-up to episode 605, Stacy LeBaron welcomes back global animal welfare strategist Harry Eckman, who shares groundbreaking findings from an ambitious five-country research initiative on cat population management. Funded by the Bates Global Enablers Grant and spearheaded by International Cat Care, the project explores the cat welfare landscapes of Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Australia, and the UK—identifying challenges, public perceptions, and innovative strategies tailored to each country. Harry delves into what makes this research unique: over 120 in-depth stakeholder interviews, public opinion surveys, and detailed country reports culminating in two critical resources—a foundational 18-month strategy and a visionary 10-year framework. With an upstream-thinking approach, he emphasizes aligning communities, funders, and policymakers under shared goals, whether on a city block or a national level. From addressing cat stigmatization in Australia to proposing a model project in Cyprus, Harry's holistic, data-driven approach provides a roadmap for turning compassion into coordinated, sustainable action. Whether you're managing a colony or planning municipal policies, this episode will inspire you to think bigger—and upstream—about community cat care. Kate Eckman breaks down why so many high-achieving people feel disconnected despite doing everything "right." She explains how self-abandonment begins early in life as a way to earn love, safety, and approval—and how people-pleasing, perfectionism, and overachievement are survival responses, not strengths. Drawing from her own healing journey, Kate reveals why emotional invalidation teaches us to doubt our instincts, silence our truth, and perform instead of feel. She shares why choosing yourself often feels lonely, how solitude exposes what distraction hides, and why telling the truth—kindly and clearly—is the foundation of real self-love. This isn't about motivation or positive thinking; it's about stopping self-betrayal, releasing old identities, and coming home to yourself. When it came time to decide what to follow up our 100th episode, the guys made a comment that we should interview a prominent podcaster and blogger in the vintage camera realm.  With a long list of guests already, we thought hard about who we've missed, who is one person who has helped grow GAS as much as any one single person can?  Anthony spoke up and said, "Hey, it should be Mike"!  While I had my doubts about how interesting a whole episode about me could be, I thought that I do like to tell stories, why why not?! Joining Anthony, Paul, Stephen, Theo, and Mike this, our 101st episode are returning callers A.J. Gentile, David Palumbo, Fernando Villava, Ira Cohen, Mark Faulkner, Pat Casey, Rob Lattimer, William Ponder, and Will Pinkham. Over the course of the episode, I field a variety of questions from how I got started, what is my while whale camera, what cameras never clicked for me, what was an example of a camera that I felt overwhelmed trying to shoot.  Paul gets me to revisit my 2023 trip to Los Angeles when I went through the collection of Kurt Ingham and what it was like going through such a large collection.   We get into camera accessories, especially how difficult it is to adapt Kilfitt lenses and that the "Rear Window" Kilfitt lens was never made specifically with an Exakta mount, we talk about what is a good first camera is, and we get into how I am resisting the urge to collect carbon filament light bulbs and Nixie Tubes. Amazingly, we make it through the nearly 2 hour run time without repeating too much of what's been covered before, and while doing so managed to cover a whole lot of GAS! As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you!  Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show.  We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. We will be back shortly with our next episode, which is going to be two days before Christmas.  We'll call this one our "holiday eggnog episode" where we recap the year and open up the call in lines for whatever you all want to talk about.  Episode 102 will be recorded on Tuesday, December 23rd at 7pm Central Standard Time and 8pm Eastern Standard Time.  Make sure you set your calendars and look out for the show announcement at the usual locations and be prepared to join us! SISTERHOOD OF SWEAT - Motivation, Inspiration, Health, Wealth, Fitness, Authenticity, Confidence and Empowerment

Are you interested in overall wellbeing?  Have you been worried about what others think of your journey?  In this episode we dive into how we can be both happier and healthier in our lives. Today, I talk to Kate Eckman, a broadcast journalist, TV personality, accomplished entrepreneur, mindfulness expert, and Columbia University-certified executive coach. She joins us to discuss the importance of stretching our comfort zone. She talks about spiritual fitness and what it means and how it can help us. We also discuss the importance of knowing who you are, and your core values. This conversation challenges us to look inside and get honest about who we are, what we believe and what we want to accomplish. Questions I asked: Can you tell us about you and the full spirit workout? Why did you quit your swimming career? Does the full spirit workout include finding yourself again? How do we deal with needing validation from someone else? How can we get more women on the same page, about being who we really are? How can we get validation by giving? How do we attract confidence to ourselves? How can we unlearn some of these mistaken beliefs? How can we cultivate our inner beauty? What are the tools to create a strong core of who you are? Why should we not need someone else to complete us? Can you tell us about your book and where people can find you online?   Topics Discussed: Spiritual fitness. Validating yourself. Transforming your life. Being kind to others. Dealing with relationship issues. Self-confidence. Combatting emotional gravity. Being your true self. You are more than just your body. Liking yourself is an inside job. Your spirit is always good enough. Notice I said “spirit” and not “spirituality.” To me they overlap, but this is not a faith based message. Our focus is, your spirit, which I think of like your energy and your “vibe” if you will. Thinking on spirituality, I grew up in a religious construct where many people who were devoted to their spirituality, had very poor and lacking spirits, in my experience. Think of people in your life who you enjoy being with. Really enjoy. How would you describe their spirit? Their energy? Their attitude? A few years back a book came across my desk, The Full Spirit Workout: A Ten-Step System to Shed Your Self-Doubt, Strengthen Your Spiritual Core, and Create a Fun and Fulfilling Life. The author is Kate Eckman. Kate had success as a competitive swimmer. Then she did stints as a model, a tv anchor and an international broadcast journalist. Then in a short span of time, two very close relationships in her life committed suicide and Kate found herself in tears at the pharmacy counter grasping for antianxiety meds and knew things were just not right. This began a significantly new trajectory of her life with a focus on our spirit. If you want a fit, strong and resilient body you nourish it, exercise it and allow it time to recover. How about your spirit? Your mindset, emotions and very soul? Are you working it out daily in order to keep it fit and resilient? In this conversation I walk with Kate through the pitfalls we all encounter in being strong and at peace with our self worth, confidence , self doubt, comparing ourselves to others and the struggle between our external and internal life. As you'll hear, Kate has much wisdom to offer, but in a very compassionate and raw...spirit. We hit some profound points and laughed...and cried. "Nothing shows the benefits of TNR better than actually doing it. Once communities see the impact, they come on board, and that's when real change happens.” This episode is sponsored-in-part by Maddie's Fund. Harry Eckman, Global Advisor for Cat Population Management at International Cat Care, joins host Stacy LeBaron for an insightful discussion on the challenges and opportunities in managing unowned cat populations worldwide. With over 25 years in animal welfare, Harry has worked on everything from stray population management to ending the dog and cat meat trades. In this episode, he shares his journey into animal welfare, the realities of life for unowned cats across different regions, and innovative solutions to improve their welfare. Harry sheds light on his latest project, a three-year initiative backed by the Battersea Global Enabler Fund, focusing on cat welfare strategies in five countries: the UK, Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, and Australia. Stepping back out into the world might require a supercharge of your self-confidence. Things are opening back up again (ever so slowly) and the world is finding its pace once again. But are you? Thrilled to present another all-star episode from The Simplifiers Podcast vault, this round, we are talking all about how to supercharge your self-confidence featuring a recent conversation with author Kate Eckman. We spoke in April 2021 and that conversation really stuck in my mind for ages afterward. She believes that when we take good care of our inner world, our outer world takes care of itself. All of this is rooted in research-backed strategies in neuroscience and whole-person coaching, with a specific focus on all three parts equally: mind-body-spirit. Here's how. My all-star special guest today is Kate Eckman and she's simplifying how to supercharge your self-confidence. We tackle all aspects of it, including: Why she believes we are prone to a lack of self-confidence these days, especially as women…  What's underneath it all, hidden away and keeping us from what we really want in life Society puts such an emphasis on our physical bodies, to lose weight and stay healthy… why she believes it's time to focus on “shedding excess emotional and spiritual pounds” instead What “The Full Spirit Workout” is and the ten steps that'll supercharge your self-confidence from the inside out: Stretch your comfort zone Lift yourself up Feel the burn Strengthen your core confidence Build your emotional muscles Boost your mental metabolism Step up your spiritual stamina Embrace your endorphins Rock the freedom freestyle Cool down with inner calm How to strengthen your core confidence through trust and the 5 Ps Presence Patience Purpose Preparation Practice …and ultimately, how to boost your “mental metabolism” to help you shift through any mindset blocks and help you see opportunities where you once saw insurmountable hurdles. I'm so thrilled if this is the first time you've heard of Kate Eckman and her work because I'm willing to bet you'll really resonate with her story and what she's learned along the way.  If you've struggled with the feeling of “not enough-ness” in your work or life, my hope is that you find the answer to break free from that vicious cycle today. And more importantly, that you remember, the key to everything you desire and the ability to supercharge your self-confidence is actually within you right here, right now. It's closer than you think… Q: Are you ready to supercharge your self-confidence? If yes, this one is for you. It's time to #DoTheThing! ---- Show notes available with all links mentioned here:https://www.thesimplifiers.com/posts/364-how-to-supercharge-your-self-confidence---with-kate-eckman-all-star

In our work as acupuncturists, we use differential diagnosis to understand the warp and woof of a patient's problem, to see how various seemingly marginally connected aspects of their problem give us the pattern that allows for skillful intervention. We also look at constitutional factors, those aspects of our patients that provide a kind of gravity and centering to their life and how they live it.Both aspects need our consideration in clinical practice. In this conversation with Peter Eckman we discuss the differences between a person's constitution and their condition. Both give us a handle on working with people, but these are very different aspects of our make up.How are they different? And how to approach work with these? Listen in, there's a lot to discuss.

But other streams of medicine from Japan and Korea were also finding their way into the imagination of those who would be a conduit that would help these methods to flourish in the mainstream of Western culture.Peter Eckman has been a unique bridging influence. In the 68 previous episodes of the Camerosity Podcast, we've had the pleasure of talking to a wide variety of fascinating guests.  We've had collectors, historians, former Kodak employees, camera repair technicians, and a variety of other bloggers and other assorted people in the industry.  Each of those people were fascinating guests, but each had a special niche where their skill and experience fit in and not every listener of this might would have known who they were. In this episode however, our special guest is Mike Butkus, someone whose name should ring a bell to anyone who has ever picked up an old camera and searched for information on it online.  It is impossible to collect cameras and never have stumbled upon the massive collection of cameras manuals at Mike's site.  His site has over 6000 high resolution scans of manuals for film and digital cameras, flashes, exposure meters, and much more, available for everyone to view and download for free.  Mike's site is not only big, but it has been around for over a quarter of a century, making it one of the oldest still operating film and digital photography sites out there. Be sure to check out Episode 69 where Anthony, Paul, Theo and Mike are joined by returning callers Ray Nason, Howard Sandler, and first time callers Brian Zeman and Jordan Berube. In addition to hearing Mike's origin story and getting a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes at the world's largest depot of camera manuals, we venture into a wide variety of other topics, such as tips and tricks to selling a large camera collection, what is everyone's favorite 6 x 9 camera, and how heavy is a Koni-Omegaflex M TLR. Theo shares a story about a camera he bought, then returned, and may one day buy again, Mike gets yelled at by a site reader for mistaking a 2¼ x 3¼ camera for a 6 x 9 camera, and Howard asks why old folding Kodaks aren't valued by collectors. Donate to Mike Butkus: For the past 25 years, Mike Butkus has run his camera manual website by himself.  He buys all of the manuals he scans with his own money, he pays the hosting and domain registration fees with his own money, and he does all the scanning in his free time.  All of this on a site with no ads.  If you have ever found any useful information on his site, we encourage you to send him a couple bucks through PayPal. https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/butkus As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you! Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show. Thank you for joining me to back at the True Crime BnB for Episode 89. Today I am taking you to Mexico City in 1958, and we are going to remember the murder of Harriet Ann Eckman Hicks. But there is a lot to remember about Harriet besides the way she was taken from her family. Harriet was a woman who made her own life and lived outside the bounds of what society expected of her in the 1950's. She was a creative, an entrepreneur, and a woman ahead of her time. She built a life that she loved, and that included solo travel as she saw fit. Unfortunately, on one of her trips to Mexico City, Mexico, she came into contact with a predator who used Mexico City as his hunting grounds and attacked or killed numerous other women. When you see furniture or decorations that are woven from pandanus leaves, you can thank Harriet for being one of the very first who popularized the style; when you see themed Christmas trees, she was one of the first to do that, too.Harriet Ann Eckman Hicks was an extraordinary person, a woman who didn't sit and wait for permission to make her life what she wanted it to be. And Harriet deserves to be remembered._______Look for episodes from True Crime BnB about every other week, still on Fridays.. . .If you enjoy our show, please share our episodes on social media--that's the greatest way to help us find new listeners.Another way is to rate and review on Apple Podcasts or GoodPods, or give us a 5-star rating on whatever platform you prefer!https://linktr.ee/TrueCrimeBnB?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=9e8aa538-d3ee-4823-b2e1-cb1625692e7aYou can find us on Instagram, X (Twitter), or Facebook @TrueCrimeBnBYou can send us an email at TrueCrimeBnBPod@gmail.comAnd lastly, thank all of you for just coming along to listen. Her unique mind-body-spirit approach delivers results. Through one-on-one, personalized coaching, you'll experience greater focus, energy, and presence. This will lead you to increased performance and resilience, more meaningful relationships, newfound confidence, greater well-being, and true fulfillment. Her technique helps you excel at the game of life via research-backed strategies. About Kate Eckman While working for nearly a decade as a TV news anchor and reporter, I interviewed hundreds of prominent newsmakers, including President Barack Obama and Angelina Jolie. As a writer, I've contributed articles to Woman's Day Magazine, Redbook Magazine, Forbes, mindbodygreen, the Huffington Post and elephant journal, to name a few. From TV presenter it was a short hop into modeling and soon I was working as a television personality and brand ambassador. But my energy and drive wouldn't let me stay only in front of the camera, and I began moving into entrepreneurship and business, as well. I've helped multiple global beauty brands shape their vision and strategy, and I recently led the team behind the launch of QVC's first and only proprietary beauty brand, which made more than four million dollars in sales on its first day. All of these experiences have made me who I am today and inform my strategy for helping students and clients find their path to success, within and without.

Kate is a lifelong high performer; she was a competitive swimmer for 17 years, an international model, and then cemented her path into a broadcast journalist and international TV personality. I've got a question for all of you.  How is morale at work do you seem to be thriving or do you feel as though there is more work to do? According to Gallup's State of the Global Workplace Report, roughly 7 in 10 employees are struggling or suffering rather than thriving in their overall lives. This is a startling statistic, and while not necessarily surprising given the state of the world during the Covid-19 era, it is nevertheless a serious wake-up call. Prioritizing the wellbeing of people is no longer a nice-to-have goal, it is now a significant differentiating factor of high performing leaders and organizations. As the Gallup report so eloquently stated, “suffering destroys human spirit that drives innovation”, and “the most successful organizations in the future will not only generate profits, but also will generate thriving employees who are able capable of weathering crises.” As an Executive Coach, keynote Speaker and Author Kate Eckman empowers high-achieving individuals to actualize their full potential. She leverages her experience as a well-known communications, performance and mindfulness expert, accomplished entrepreneur, and elite athlete to equip leaders with the tools, methodology, and energetic boost they need to excel at the game of life. With a results-driven approach rooted in neuroscience, positive psychology, and whole-person coaching techniques, Kate helps her clients succeed in and out of the boardroom and on and off the field. She guides them to identify who they are beneath their titles and labels, clarity their priorities and values, and then co-create a game plan to get them from where they are now to where they most want to be … adding in some fun and humor along the way. Kate incorporates a mind-body-spirit approach into her coaching engagements, recognizing that when we take care of our inner world, our outer world takes care of itself. Clients report that working with Kate leads to greater focus, energy and presence; increased performance and resilience; more meaningful relationships and newfound confidence; and greater well-being and true fulfillment. As someone who is known to thousands as a broadcast journalist and an international TV personality, Kate understands the pressures and demands to be always “on,” perform at a high level and be an exceptional team player. She brings that high-level presence, professionalism, and infectious enthusiasm to each coaching engagement.  She joined me this week to tell me more.   For more information: https://www.kateeckman.tv/ Get the Book: https://www.thefullspiritworkout.com/
